Authentic Korean BBQ with grill-it-yourself meats and stews

"Originally founded by Korean immigrant Micky Kim in Virginia, this restaurant has become a crowd favorite thanks to its affordable, marinated meats that diners grill tableside. Beyond its hearty lunch and dinner combos, standouts include a kimchi and pork stew, sauteed yam noodles with veggies and a protein, and crisp lettuce wraps with a savory bean paste dipping sauce. Craving a comforting rice dish? Order the beef bibimbap, a satisfying mix of rice, vegetables, a fried egg, and tangy sauce for a perfect balance of flavors and textures." - Brianna Griff

"Right next to H-Mart in Cedar Park, Honey Pig is part of a small chain of Korean barbecue restaurants, with an a la carte menu of meats, soups, and noodles. The dining room here is open and industrial, with circular metal tables surrounded by little barrel bar stools that make the whole place feel a bit like a Korean pub. Expect to find a wide range of meats, the highlights being the thinner, marinated cuts. If you’re afraid of cooking your own food, but still enjoy the show, Honey Pig is the spot for you—servers will come by to place and prep all the meats, so all you have to do is sit back, relax, and snack on a small selection of banchan while you wait. "An East Coast Korean barbecue chain offering grill-it-yourself meats such as bulgogi, pork belly, tripe, duck, and squid alongside Korean sides and dishes like kimchi pancakes, dumplings, tteokbokki, and noodles; the concept originated in Maryland and has expanded nationally and internationally." - Erin Russell

"I learned that the East Coast Korean barbecue Honey Pig BBQ opened in Austin on July 4 at 11301 Lakeline Boulevard in the Lakeline neighborhood. The restaurant is known for a wide variety of grill-it-yourself meats — brisket, bulgogi, galbi, pork belly, tripe, intestines, duck, squid, and more — and it also offers other Korean dishes from kimchi pancakes, dumplings, tteokbokki, stews and soups, bibimbap, to noodles. A Reddit post shows the menu includes three barbecue packages (one pork, one beef, and a premium combination), and initial hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. I note it's located in the same shopping plaza as H-Mart and 85 Degrees Bakery, that founder and Korean immigrant Micky Kim opened the original Honey Pig in Annandale, Virginia in 2007 with subsequent expansions in Virginia, Maryland, and Taiwan, and that the Rockville, Maryland location is the only one offering an all-you-can-eat option; Honey Pig’s first Texas location opened in Houston in December 2020." - Nadia Chaudhury
