Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar

I am dissatisfied with the experience I had at this establishment. After waiting approximately 30 to 40 minutes to order my food, I received the following order: two catfish baskets, one with coleslaw and the other with hush puppies, accompanied by two pieces of corn. While my husband expressed satisfaction with the taste of the catfish, he noted that the portion sizes could be improved. I rate the customer satisfaction at 10/10. However, I rate the portion at 2/2. I recommend this establishment, but I advise you to inspect your belongings before departing if you intend to take them out. Corn was hard, catfish was very tasty, and hush puppies with corn were tasty, but I would choose crafty crab any day. Coleslaw 6/10

It is always a phenomenal experience. Ty is absolutely amazing, so is Ashley and Cre and the newest bartender is quite impressive too. If you’re looking for good vibes and great drinks this is the spot for you. And the blue crabs 🦀 are tasty too. Karaoke nights are always a vibe.

That girl sunny omg she was so fab and amazing she truly made my experience here at the hook n reel. I do believe that my table had a bit of a complex order, and guess what sunny did?!? she served us with all the sunshine! Shes very Compassionate, sociable and timely. These beautiful attributes are the stepping stones for success to either become a manager or a mogul. Either way sunny will do great in life! I hope hook n reel sees this and doesn’t mishandle the opportunity they have right within their very own establishment.

My fiancée and I had a great time at Hook & Reel. Deedee, our bartender, was fantastic! She was very attentive to our needs, and the food was excellent. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back.

Love the vibes of this place. Would have loved how it is at night! Anyway, my poboy chicken sandwich was very good probably the best one I’ve ever had so far in my life lol.. the kids ate all their food.. “that means something” lol.. my husband had his first sea food boil and as y’all can tell he enjoyed every bit of it.. he said it was “FIRE”. Also we loved our waiter he was very informative on what he should get because it was his first food boil.. he checked in on us at a timely matter.. felt like we had a bff with us that came and gone lol anyway we would definitely come back again!

Came with my husband, just wanted something quick so we could get in and out. We ordered over the phone and we spoke with Destiny, very sweet young lady and I appreciate her patience. She explained to us what came with what so it definitely helped us make our choice. And picking up our order was just as easy as placing it. Came in and met with the young lady we spoke with over the phone and got our food. Just finished it in fact and it was wonderful. Thanks Hook and Reel staff

I ordered the oysters and the dungeness crabs online and they were great, but one thing I can say is being greeted and served by Destiny made my overall experience EXCEPTIONAL. Destiny is extremely kind and she made sure that I felt at home upon entry. She has amazing customer service and hospitality skills! She is an excellent addition to the Hook & Reel franchise, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for her with the company next. Good job, Destiny!!

This is my first time checking it out and go pass it multiple times, but didn’t have the time to stop and check it out. I decided to take my mom so we can experience it for the first time together . The ambiance is nice. The settings are really clean. The person at the front desk was kind and welcoming. However, I was wondering why it was so empty. I noticed people were coming in and out. When we sat down, it was very cold, which I thought it to be odd. Anyhow, the food was decent. I noticed they don’t use old bay. Crab season is not the same as old bay seasoning so it doesn't give you that same feel. We were not satisfied with that. The crab legs seem to be a little overcooked and a little mushy. Also, the service was not the best. The workers were not dress processionally, I didn’t get a good vibe or even a sense that they knew the menu. I would not recommend coming back. Last, but not least we left with our stomach’s hurting… It was a good first time experience just to check it out. It might be a good spot to go for drinks or to the bar… but family outings, not at all!

I am currently trying happy hours across DC and this has earned a spot in my books! The music, the food, the energy just everything was super fun and inviting. 2-7PM can't beat that with GREAT prices The fried shrimp , & Cajun fries were fresh and hot, the service was fast and the bartender was very friendly I can't wait to go back they didn't have hush puppies like I was hoping for that day but Hook & Reel will see me soon **A MUST TRY**

I ordered Togo, so service was pretty quick and the girl who handed me my order was friendly. It appeared to be the bar scene, but also restaurant too. My food was hot, and I appreciated how they separated the crabmeat fries since I ordered Togo. I ordered the crack and peel (old bay dry/spicy), and the fried shrimp basket with crabmeat fries. The boiled seafood was just not it, can't describe it but the flavor was not there; definitely not spicy. The fried shrimp were falling apart, one of them had the shell on it, and they were slightly overcooked. The sauce for the crabmeat fries was not good at all, it had an off-putting taste, and it's not cheese. It's also pretty thick. I didn't use it.

Overall I did not love my experience at this Hook & Reel. I ordered about $300 worth of boils online so that I could quickly pick it up for a party. Ordering online was pretty easy and I appreciated them having this feature. However when I tried to call the restaurant to switch something they never answered even after 9x. When I arrived at the restaurant the hostess who was helping me was rude. I'd asked if there were bibs, gloves, napkins, etc in the bag and when I got home there were 2 of each. $300 worth of food ... I'm not sure why they would skimp on providing these items for such a large order because there's no way that me and another person could get through 3 large boils and sides. On top of that when we'd gotten home we realized that we were missing a whole pound of clams. When I tried calling back again still no answer. I ended up driving back to the restaurant the next day to see if they can comp me or something for the missing items. The manager kept trying to get me out of there saying that I need to go through the delivery platform I ordered from instead of listening to what I was telling her was that I ordered directly from their website. It took about 15 minutes before she finally understood my frustration and she gave me a business card saying that I can get a comped lb of clams. I will probably not come back here the boil wasn't anything special. It does seem like a lot of locals come here for their happy hour because there are good prices so if that's your jam check it out.

Came during karaoke night on Friday. It was a blast. The music was going and everyone was singing. It was a warm fun atmosphere. The food was good as well. The crab fries were okay. I wasn't too crazy about the white sauce they used but the sauce on the side was perfect with it. Coconut shrimp was crispy and crunchy. We got two of the seafood boils and a dozen blue crabs. The blue crabs were large male. I got the garlic butter spicy sauce. The only problem we encountered was missing items. We ordered mozzarella sticks and a side of ramen that never came to the table. My friend ordered a passion fruit margarita and they forgot to add the flavoring. Food was still good service could be better.

I ordered the crab meat roll . The cost was $23 and there was minimal crab meat . Because it was an Uber order I expected the food to not be hot . The correct condiments were not sent . Overall View of the sandwich was subpar . There was about an ounce if that of crab meat on a huge hoagie . Not worth the money.

After reviewing the business response I fell it was ingenuine and a form of a micro aggression my family will not be back.

Was running errands at Dakota Crossing recently and decided to try out Hook & Reel. I ordered several take-out dishes and must say that the quality of the seafood impresses me, and I wasn't expecting that. The snow crab boil is excellent and great value for the money ($17). I had to laugh at how large the bag was that contained the boil! It survived the trip home just fine, too. The portion of snow crab legs in this dish is generous. The crab is perfectly cooked; tender and not rubbery at all. I got the mild spice in garlic butter option and adore it. Also gave the catfish a go and found it tasty. Thumbs up. I'll be back.

Was stuck in the house and had a craving for a seafood boil. While I as skeptical about getting this via delivery I had no choice so I decided to check out Hook & Reel since they were close by. I ordered the small batch boil for $27. I Felt that was reasonable as I just wanted snow crab legs and shrimp. I got the spicy boil. It was fresh and had potatoes and corn inside. The one snow crab leg didn't have a lot of meat in it so I'm glad that the shrimp were a good amount and flavorful and that I'd accidentally ordered another corn on the cob. I also ordered hush puppies and they came hot and delicious. Probably my favorite hush puppies. If you want more snow crab legs you probably should order more or a bigger boil. I would order from them again or dine in to check out atmosphere.

Gotten food from this place 2x from Uber. The first time wasn't that bad but I've had Hook & Reel before that tasted way better and they messed up my order but I was like ok next time. My 2nd order was rotten, it gave me food poisoning. So no I would not recommend this location at all

I don't eat seafood but my friends love it. Thankful that they have a few chick own options including this po boy. This is my first time having it but it was sufficient enough for me to support these trips! Nothing baked though like grilled chicken, and no iced tea lol. Hella seafood! lol. A ton of seating in here and no issues for me when it comes to parking. Our server was really nice for it being last call and all she was super sweet. My friends all adore it here.

My first experience with this restaurant, and I hoped it would have been better. Our server was not good at all; we had a long wait before they even came to our table, never asked if we wanted to order appetizers or any questions regarding the menu, never asked if you wanted a refill and they would reach over top of your head to pass food to the person across from you. If I come back, I hope to have a better experience.

Good drinks, service, and food at a fair price. Would come back and recommend. I got a traditional crab leg boil bag. My friend got a fried crab leg plate and I actually liked hers better. The drink I ordered was yummy and strong. The waiter was friendly and courteous.

Every time I come here, you can tell the owner is doing everything to cut costs. They use to serve prawn chips and today the owner actually confessed to cutting it because the customers requested it a lot. Instead of taking it away, they could've offered it as a cheap menu item but decides to fully take it away. Anyways this conversation came about because without even opening my mini boil(which was suppose to include a half pound of shrimp) I could tell that my boiled eggs were missing and I could count the shrimp through the bag, it was literally only 6!! After telling our server Trae, she gets the "manager" and he tells me it's about 7 or 8 shrimp with the head on and 10 with the head off and blames it being only 6 because I ordered head on shrimp. That math alone doesn't even make sense. You're telling me head on would be 7 but head off only makes it two or 3 more?! No, clearly it is not properly weighed and I may go back with my own scale for a tik tok video. As someone who use to purchase jumbo shrimp often, I immediately knew I was being cheated because I never seen so few shrimp in a boil, that weren't no where near jumbo. Additionally, the shrimp was overcooked because it was mushy. I was attempting to ignore all of this during this outing with my mother, but the table next to mine had something missing from their boil and instead of accommodating them, the manager proceeds to go back and forth with them causing a disruption for about 15 minutes straight. It was so disturbing and distracting, I asked to assist with de-escalation because it was obvious the manager wasn't seeking to fix the problem. The other tables issue was valid as well. After telling their server, who was also Trae, something was missing, the lady(who I always thought was the manager) came over and looked in the bag while they were still eating from it. Very disgusting and very unsanitary. The customer didn't like that it was unsanitary and they also didn't like how they made it seem as if the patrons were lying. The manager seemed to not want to understand this logic. I think because they believe their major demographic is black people, they can just serve anything and treat their workers anyway, which is why the turnover rate is so horrible for their workers. Also during my time talking to the manager, I complimented that Trae was an excellent server because she was the only server in the whole floor area and still very attentive. He proceeds to say she has a child, her phone is cut off sometimes, she asked for more hours and sometimes even works the bar area. This was very uncomfortable and inappropriate to me. When he walked away, I told my mom he was full of poo. Later on dealing with the other table, he blamed all of the mistakes on Trae and said she was new, which clearly was not true. Overall Trae was awesome but the management is distasteful, even posting pictures of people who walk out on the bill in the front is very tacky and corner store vibes. I hope they just turn this place into something else very soon.

I went to hook and reel for a friends birthday and as someone who doesn't eat shellfish I didn't think that they would have many options for me since they are known for their seafood boils, and I was correct. There non-shellfish items consist of po'boys, two salads, and fried side items. We ultimately ended up sharing some mozzarella sticks, hush puppies, calamari and I ended up getting their catfish po'boy with a side of broccoli. Everything was pretty standard except (3/5) for their hush puppies which were a little below average (2/5) I also tried their passion fruit frozen margarita which definitely came from a mix, and which also had no discernible flavor beyond that of "fruit" a true 1/5. I did however like this place was relatively empty throughout our visit, but maybe that was a sign. Our server was nice as well, but I probably won't be back again. The person who I went with has been to this location as well as their green belt location in Maryland and they said they they definitely prefer the other location as far as flavor.

Man I wanted to give this place more but it's missing so much. It's said that sometimes an establishment isn't good dude to the people that come to it or even the people that work there.. I know they want the best from customer but how is that possible if staff isn't pushing that energy forward.. I'm always about positive vibes but this spot is lacking leadership. I came into the H&R at around 7 after the load up of happy hour people on a Wednesday. My lady and I were seated and began to scroll through the menu saying we gonna finally see what this spot is about. Seen some good things also was feeling away since we missed the happy hour deals. Neither the less we still were waiting. 10 mins passed no one in site. Then 15 minutes, I then at this point realize this wasn't the right day for us here. We proceed to leave not being asked anything by anyone as we walked out. I will give this place another shot on a different night maybe the stars can go up..

plastic fork! shells on shrimp in the caJim pasta that wasn't hot or good. Even the salad was bad. Salad dressing came in individual packages! Someone reason I thought it was more upscale. Very disappointed! Waste of calories and $$$.

My friend and I stopped in for the all you can eat crabs and unfortunately...was a little disappointed. Let's start with what I liked: - I had great service the entire time we were there. It hadn't yet got crowded, but our server (I forget his name) explained the menu well, kept our crabs coming, and made sure we had what we needed - the concept of all you can eat crabs (Monday - Wednesday). It's what got this Baltimore native in the door. - the crab leg boil (my friend ordered one) was good. Unfortunately...that's about it. The oysters were not great, the blue crabs were not great (none of the flavors I tried were good) and the blue crabs were super small (which understandable for the price...but they're super small). As a Baltimore native who LOVES blue crabs...take it from me...stay away from the blue crabs. Stick to the crab legs.

Hey there, everyone I did enjoy going to this establishment. I love the seafood boil. I enjoyed the food. The waiter was friendly and courteous and attentive. I enjoy the atmosphere. The cocktail beverage was delicious. Yes, I recommend this establishment, convenience, location, reasonable prices, and clean establishments.

Casual bar/restaurant that offers more than just "bar food." Drinks are tasty and just right for the price. Take out service is reliable and quick. The shrimp po boy is one of my favorites. The shrimp are crispy and delicious. The buffalo wings are mildly spicy, but bearable. The hush puppies are always golden brown. The crab soup is rich and creamy, but could use just a bit more seasoning. Neighborhood delight.

I had to come and add my review because I come here too often and they hardly disappoint. Every time I ordered take out, my food was ready in 20 minutes or less. Everytime I dine in, I practically inhale my seafood boil. I've only ever ordered the seafood boils, and crab fries but based on the different things my friends have ordered, stick to a boil or crab fries. Idk if you know but if you want to get full order a side order of rice with your boil and eat it together OR if you're at home, make a boil of ramen, no seasoning and dump it inside of your boil bag. I'm not sure the gentleman name that works at the bar but look what he made me when I asked for "any kind of frozen margarita" and it was SO GOOD. (Actually made up for the time before last I had the worst non alcoholic tartist margarita ever). But I took that one on the chin. The drinks are good and inexpensive the food is good and inexpensive. Never really super busy when I've went. I think they now have a happy hour Monday-Wednesday 3-6 which they did not have before. This location is a good location.

To whom it may concern, I am trying to clear up a situation and come to some agreement on my bill giving to fact the your manager Andy that was working on December 14, 2024 called two of my family members a "FUCKIN BITCH". Now I have reached out a few times and today I received an email from someone names Christina S. the Business Manager. I was left an email to respond to so that we can rectify this problem and the email appears to be bogust. Now I'm not sure what type of games are being played here but I'm not for it. If this is how you all conduct business and treat your customers then we definitely will be taking this further. Before I allow you all to file bogust theft charges against me I will have New channel 4 investigators and also 7 on your side at Hook and Reel before I allow Andy to get away with his RACIST ass comment. I would appreciate if this matter can be addressed expeditiously.

My girlfriends and I got together for a class reunion after the mourning of a friends demise and we thought of Hook and Reel as being the perfect place to dine. I'd just celebrated my daughters 20th birthday party there with over 15 guests for karaoke night. On this particular day we were served by a new waiter that didn't have any experience and was in training. We first ordered drinks that never came, then we ordered fried seafood that was over cooked and we asked for the manager. The manager came after waiting 20 minutes to be aggressive and upset because we weren't satisfied with our order and I offered to pay for some but not all. He slammed the plate on the table and said " GET OUT". So that's what we did. My daughter went there and saw a photo of us labeled as thieves. This is not acceptable!! I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and further escalation.

Recently went. I've had hook and reel before but it wasn't as good as the food was here. From the server to food and bartenders I definitely recommend. My server was so polite and had great hospitality I wish i remember his name, I just remember his southern Mississippi accent he was so on point with everything it really set the tone. Thinking about going back for karaoke night

Most of the reviews are about the service, however, this food is DISGUSTING. I'm out in DC for a week, from CA, and this food is by far the worst boil I've ever had in my life. How you can mess up on something like this is wild to me. The sauce is liquid and tasteless. This was the only boil open otherwise I would've went somewhere else and expected to originally go somewhere else. I spent $50+ and couldn't even eat it. I crave this type of food but this is just disappointing.

10/10 everytime! This location is waaaay better than the woodmore location. The crab balls are my favvvv & the bartender does his thing every time. One of my favorite happy hour spots.

Just came to this location to check it out since we'd been to other locations before. Unfortunately, we sat at our booth for 25mins without anyone helping us. What was most frustrating was the place was nearly empty and waitstaff as well as bar staff walked by without saying hello or offering help. Quite honestly, I hate to say it but it seemed like we weren't helped on purpose. We happened to be the only non-black minority there and it felt awful. So please stay clear of this place. Literally go to any other seafood boil place like Hot n Juicy. Giving this place a 1 star because you obviously can't go negative on this scale.

Came in with my husband to have dinner. They sat us down and 20 mins passed and no one came to our table. Another couple came in and they got their ordered taken when we had been sitting there for 20 mins. Not sure if it was because we are Hispanic but no one bothered to take our order at all. Sucks because we were excited to try seafood boils.

The sauce for the seafood boil was on point and the seafood is fresh. The music was loud so it's hard to hear the conversation, but the food and service were good.

The Hook and reel on Market Place, NE was delightful. I had read many bad reviews of hool and reel being in only black neighborhoods. Places were people who don't know seafood or Cajun cuisine. That being the point, the food here was good and affordable only during rush hour. The oysters are not the best. I enjoyed the experience.

This was my first time at this Hook and Reel which just opened up in the last year or so. Not much to say about this place other than it's just really, really, average. The service, the food, the ambiance were not what I expected. To start off I ordered a flying dog IPA DRAFT and the server returned with a bottle, even though it clearly said draft on the menu. I ordered three menu items and they all arrived at once. Not a big deal, but I was a little taken aback by the presentation and the plastic cutlery. I asked the bartender for some pepper and he handed me a few paper packets that you expect to find in a school cafeteria. I ordered the clam chowder (which tasted like it came out of a can), a crab salad (that had more bread crumb fillers than crab), and raw oysters that I can only describe as slimy and bland. If you enjoy briny, meaty oysters, you would be disappointed. Both the cocktail sauce for the oysters and the blue cheese dressing for the salad were courtesy of Ken's Steakhouse. The one good thing about the salad is that the field greens were fresh and crisp. Finally, after downing my first beer I was hoping the bartender would check on me to bring me another... after finishing my meal and waiting twenty minutes for one of them to circle back, I decided to just cut my losses and get the check. I've been to other Hook and Reels before and they were better than this. Proof that once a chain expands the quality goes down. I won't be going back.

I dined here this past Saturday and sat at the tables near the bar. I was serviced by the bartender, nice guy with the nose ring, and I ordered the shrimp basket and substituted the fries with broccoli. Well the fried shrimp was great however the broccoli smelled and tasted like it was boiled in seafood water. I was blown away. I was highly upset and disappointed. I would like to recommend to the owner that they boil or cook vegetables in water or butter or steam it some other way. Cooking thr broccoli in seafood water is completely unacceptable. Also I paid an additional $2 to substitute the fries with broccoli boiled in seafood water. Absolutely disgusting and I will not be returning.

My girlfriends and I went to Hook and Reel got together for a reunion, and received the worst service ever. The server was new and on his own. We waited over an hour for our food and drinks and finally when the food and drinks came everything was wrong. We asked for the manager and after waiting on him to come over for about 30 minutes he comes over rude. He told us to get out. Later I learned that he put our pictures up and labeled us as thief's that is slander.

I was there last evening, at 6:40 pm. The restaurant is pretty much new, Service was good, Food was weird, it comes in a plastic bag. Who knows what quimicals come from that bag when the put hot seafood in it. I ordered shrimps and broccoli. I got very sick and still sick, fever, vomiting, diarrea, you named it. I still not be able to eat anything. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone I was so excited to have a seafood restaurant close to home.. Very disappointed. Get away from it

This Location Is By Far The Best Ive Been To. Hosts Greeted My Family & I With A Smile. The Server Was Fast & Efficient (I Wish I Would've Gotten His Name). The Food Came Out In Under 15 Minutes & We Ordered Quite A lot Of Food & Also Placed To-Go Orders. They Also Have Great Music & Good Vibes Overall. I Ordered A Margarita Which Tasted Great. I Got The Snow Crab (1/2 lb.) , Shrimp Head Off (1/2 lb.) With Broccoli In Their House Made Sauce. My Brother Enjoyed His Salad (He Ordered 2). My GrandMother Ordered The Perfect Storm Which She Enjoyed As Well. 10/10 Recommend This Location.

The poBoy sandwich is absolutely horrible , they load the sandwich with the orange sauce and the crab meat is scarce. My family didn't want to complain but I insisted on speaking to the manager who never greeted us to apologize, however she offered to put more crab meat on a sandwich by the way of the waitress and when my family declined there wasn't anything offered to rectify my family experience. The potato fries were very cold and they made a fresh batch which was hot but if should have been hot from the onset. I've eaten at other Hook & Reels and never had to complain nor received cold food and lack thereof sandwiches. I will never patronize this restaurant at Dakota Crossings EVER!!!!!!!!!

Gosh. Where do I begin?!? Ok. So my friend visited this location on Tuesday evening around 5-6. There was only one table being service. Now the bar had the majority of customers and 85% of those ppl had already received an appetizer and/or drink. Nevertheless, we were able to easily find two seats. The bartender, a young "lady" with purple and black box braids...came over, gave us a menu and walked away. 10 mins go past. I noticed that she hasn't been back and hadn't even offered water! Another 10 mins..a groups of guys, 3 to be exact, walks in and take a seat on the opposite side of the bar. Now at this point she seems like she's about to take our order but I'm guessing someone who was a regular called her over. She took their order, made their drinks and walked away to now help the 3 guys! At this point we're there for 30+ mins. She never came back. Now normally I would've made a scene but I'm better than that. There was SO MANY FOUL THINGS I COULD HAVE SAID! She was raggedy, customer service is trash and the mere fact that she hadn't said 3 words to us, suggests that she had a problem with us. We ended up going to the PG PLAZA location where we had the best customer service and they only had 3 ppl working there! We left a tip for 2 of the 3 ppl. One was for $20, just for taking our order and apologizing for the inconvenience. "Unicorn Head" at the Market Place location is not a good representative for this location and would probably be a better representative for which hair braider not to go to! l'll be posting this on Google too.

After a visit to this location today, I find it extremely plausible that every one or two star review is completely credible . This location is full of employees who have a lack of understanding of the basics of customer service. We walked in and were seated in a sub-optimal table near a door and service area while the restaurant had many open tables. We asked to be re-seated to a booth. After wait 15 minutes at the table without being acknowledged by a server, I went to the host to ask for a kids menu. The employee at the host station impolitely told me there was no kids menu. Another 15 minutes go by and a server walks by our table, taps the table, and says she will be right with us. Five minutes goes by and server does not come back. 35 total minutes in establishment with no service. At this point I have zero confidence that if we placed an order that the food and drinks would be at an acceptable standard. We decided to leave which was probably the correct decision. I am fairly certain this location will be closed within a year.

Came to Hook and Reel on Father's Day to have some seafood and boy were we not disappointed...the food was exceptional... drinks were great minus Voodoo Lemonade...just get the House Margarita..Mango flavor. Beyond that our server VON was amazing! She gave us great recommendations; was attentive to what we needed and made sure we were taken care of while still juggling other guest. I'll be back for sure...when you go in request Von as your server A++.

This is the best seafood restaurant me and my family came to visit for the first time and the food was amazing.There was nice service and definitely recommend this to all!

Service was good, food was a decent price however, The seafood sauce options has a acquired taste there's no sweet nor savory flavor. crawfish was big but halo, shrimp was okay. The ambience was great!

I visited the Hook and Reel Restaurant today at Dakota Crossing location in NE Washington DC. My bill was about $75 and the food was so very disappointing. I ordered take out. Seafood boil bag with lobster tail, crab legs, boiled eggs, corn and red potatoes. I also ordered a crab salad and crab soup. The seafood in the boil bag was not fresh at all tasted like it was heated up from the previous day. The yolks in the boiled eggs were dark and to me that's clear indication that they were boiled many hours before they were served. I know what fresh seafood, corn and potatoes taste like so my experience today was very, very disappointing. I asked if the crab soup was cream or tomato based. I was told it was tomato based, a red soup which was what I wanted. When I got home, my soup was a cream based crab soup with corn in it and that is not at all what I ordered. I was highly disappointed and insulted having paid $75. Will try Hook and Reel again but not this location.

We were advised to not stay by the host because of lackluster service. I never got a chance to eat the food.

We walked in at 8:34 pm to grab some food and drink. We sat at the bar until 8:45 and the bartender never acknowledged us. She came directly in front us to grab something and still said nothing. So we decided to order to go. Food is good, but as far as service some of staff may need to be better trained on customer service.

This place is located in walking distance to my home here in Alexandria right off King Street West. I'm just overjoyed at how great this place is and so close in proximity. The service is A1 folks. I'm a NYer and I miss good customer service--well this place brings it right to your table indeed. The food is crazy good, hot and reasonably priced. Hook and Reel is one of the few places in the DMV I absolutely don't regret tipping these servers. This is hands down the best wings, fries and fried fish spots for my high standards in street food. Simply the best spot on my block here in Alexandria Va. Nothing but great vibes--cleanliness on point as well. This place make Red Lobster look like Wack Lobster--it's that fly folks.

Okay so this place is brand new in our neighborhood and me and my husband decided to come in on football Sunday to watch the first half of the game. We walked around the bar and the first thing that stuck out to me was that it needed a wipe down. There was debris on the bar and a ring from a previous guests glass that was visible, so we walked around the side of the bar to a space that looked clean before sitting down. The bartender was friendly and attentive and got our drink orders quickly. She served us chips when we sat down which was a nice surprise. I couldn't tell if they fried them in house but they tasted good with the seasoning sprinkled on top. I asked for water and reminded our server before getting a glass, minor thing no big deal. My husband ordered the shrimp po' boy with crab fries. He said the po' boy was good, shrimp tasted fresh and crispy and the fixings were good on the sandwich. The crab fries tasted good and were crispy, but they were served cold. I got a custom seafood boil that included 1lb. New Zealand mussels, 1 cluster of Dungeness crabs and one lobster tail with noodles and broccoli seasoned with lemon pepper "fire" flavor. The flavor was great, but the spice level was not it! Fire wasn't spicy at all to me, if you're expecting spice levels like other crab boil restaurants around town from this place, don't. It tasted good, but it just wasn't spicy, at all. One more thing about this visit, they forgot the potatoes and corn in my boil bag, spoke to the manager and they brought me some out. Overall our visit was good (this place has a good vibe, I rounded up from 3.6 to 4) with a few minor hiccups. Since we live close, the food quality is good and the staff was nice we will definitely be coming back to try more things.

Hook and Reel is located minutes away from my home. On my first visit, I sat with a party of five at a table. The service was excellent. The food is excellent. Mel was our server and he was attentive and responsive. I looked forward to watching Monday Night Football at the bar which featured really comfortable seats and big-screen TV's to join college or pro football. My second visit, I went with my son for Monday Night Football. We sat at the bar. We were ignored. We had to flag down a bartender every time we wanted something. So disappointing. We were able to order a drink but the bartender, a gentleman, seems nice enough but seems overwhelmed with his job. I left disappointed but committed to giving the place another shot. So tonight, I asked where my son wanted to go for his birthday. Hook & Reel! he said. Okay, I'll give the place another try. We got there at 7:20 pm, we didn't get to order drinks until 7:50 pm. During that time, my son asked if we should leave this location to go to the Hyattsville location. I said no and told him to just stick it out since we were here. Finally, drinks were ordered and we got them a few minutes later. Another 20 minutes for him to come back to take our food order. After the order, I asked if I could add a Ceasar salad and the bartender said yes but my salad never arrived. Our food arrived and it was good. The bartender never came back to ask how our food was or if we wanted another drink. I don't know who owns this franchise but they are really missing out on revenue. One drink each for us but we should have been offered at least one more drink. I might come back but my expectations for this place will be low.

On Friday, September 15, 2023, I ordered online and then I picked up several orders at the West Orange, NJ location I had ordered two separate selections of scallops 1/2 pound each with potatoes and corn. I had also ordered extra potatoes. Instead I only received one corn instead of two, not any of the extra potatoes and far less scallops expected for one pound. This is completely unacceptable as each of those selections was $16.00 each. Instead, I received only one full order. They also had given me my order in only one bag, instead of two. If they had made the order into two separate plastic bags, the error would have been revealed. They did not do this. If I do come back, I plan to check my food before I leave the restaurant to check to make sure the order is complete and accurate.
