JKS Restaurants Opens Hoppers in Qatar in Time for World Cup | Eater London

"A casual Sri Lankan restaurant from the respected JKS Restaurants group — known for venues like Gymkhana, Trishna and Brigadiers — opened in the last week of October in Barahat Msheireb in downtown Doha as the brand’s first step toward Middle East expansion. The London-founded concept is led in the UK by chef-restaurateur Karan Gokani, but the group has licensed the brand to a regional third-party operator that will manage day-to-day operations and pursue further openings in the Arabian Gulf; JKS will continue to oversee brand direction and creative decisions without direct involvement in running the restaurants. JKS frames the move as part of a wider growth strategy targeting a region where many of its restaurants have a strong following, and says it does not endorse the policies of any country and selected partners for their shared vision on food, service, hospitality and staff care — while declining to answer follow-up questions about broader human-rights concerns in Qatar." - Adam Coghlan

The Parata bread was extremely tasty, and I ordered the prawn with mango curry, which was also very delicious. The bone marrow was excellent as well. Overall, the meal was a perfect 10 out of 10, although the salad was just okay. The staff were friendly and helped us with our choices. Definitely a place to visit and try Sri Lankan cuisine.

Consistent delicious Sri Lankan food – I purposely made a trip while in Doha to see if it measured up to their London branches. Happy to report that while you can’t get their delicious cocktails in this country, the food measures up. Would highly recommend the banana blossom fritters, chicken curry, pulao rice and of course, a hopper. Kumari made wonderful recommendations and provided quick and efficient service. She makes a mean rose lychee mocktail, too.

Made it to Hoppers Doha! Best Sri Lankan food outside of Sri Lanka. Must visit if you love Sri Lankan food! Super friendly service, even got some tips on how to make hoppers 🙌

The restaurant had a cozy and warm ambiance, with beautiful lighting and a pleasant atmosphere. I ordered the Chicken Biryani, and honestly, it was one of the best I've ever had in my life — perfectly spiced, aromatic, and rich in flavor. The presentation was great, and the portion was satisfying. The service was also excellent; the staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I’d come back again.

The food here is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish bursts with authentic, well-balanced flavors that transport you straight to the streets of Chennai or Colombo. The spice levels are perfectly calibrated, and you can taste the quality of ingredients in every bite. The lamb chops deserve special recognition - they were absolutely phenomenal. Tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection, they're easily among the best I've had in Doha. The marinade and preparation technique clearly demonstrate the kitchen's expertise and attention to detail. For anyone seeking genuine South Indian and Sri Lankan flavors in Doha, Hoppers is an absolute must-visit. The combination of exceptional food quality and outstanding service makes this a standout restaurant in the city's dining scene. Highly recommended - we'll definitely be returning soon!

Had a fantastic meal here, Brian was helpful in taking the orders and recommending fantastic dishes. The portions are slightly small, but flavors are absolutely on point. Will recommend this place as a safe way to try Sri Lankan cuisine.

Great food but wasn’t busy. We had the lamb and potatoes with the naan and crispy bread. It had a decent spice level.
