"A casual Sri Lankan restaurant from the respected JKS Restaurants group — known for venues like Gymkhana, Trishna and Brigadiers — opened in the last week of October in Barahat Msheireb in downtown Doha as the brand’s first step toward Middle East expansion. The London-founded concept is led in the UK by chef-restaurateur Karan Gokani, but the group has licensed the brand to a regional third-party operator that will manage day-to-day operations and pursue further openings in the Arabian Gulf; JKS will continue to oversee brand direction and creative decisions without direct involvement in running the restaurants. JKS frames the move as part of a wider growth strategy targeting a region where many of its restaurants have a strong following, and says it does not endorse the policies of any country and selected partners for their shared vision on food, service, hospitality and staff care — while declining to answer follow-up questions about broader human-rights concerns in Qatar." - Adam Coghlan
