Hops & Hounds has become one of those places that just feels good to be at. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, grab a drink with friends, and enjoy great food from the variety of food trucks. What I love most is how welcoming and pet-friendly it is!! The dog park is such a bonus, and seeing the pups play always adds to the experience. They host trivia, game nights, and so many fun events, so there’s always something happening. Whether you’re meeting new people, spending time with your dogs, or just relaxing after a long day, it truly feels like a place where everyone belongs.

Encountered dog owners who were all respectful with well-behaved dogs. Enjoyed a few beers and good coffee while watching our dog having a great time. Venue was clean with attentive staff on site. Highly recommended.

BLUF: Downtown gem, if you have a dog, bring them, they’ll love it and so will you. Great drink specials, coffee, and food truck on site. As a downtown dog owner, I really can’t say enough good things about this place. My apartment has a small fenced in dog “park” but it pales in comparison to the offering here at Hops and Hounds. They have a big and small dog area, and during peak hours there’s a park attendant monitoring dog behaviors and keeping the area clean and safe. All of them are very attentive. Don’t have a dog? Still a great place to hang out and have a drink. They have several beers on draft, with rotating taps, all of the in-demand can options, and a full bar. They also recently added a coffee and pizza venue. Love the coffee, but I haven’t tried the pizza yet so I can speak to its quality. Weekly drink specials, of note are Margarita Mondays and Tap it Tuesday. The Monday offering is savings on their delicious margaritas, and the Tuesday offering is savings on any of their draft beers. Things worth knowing ahead of time: The dog park isn’t free, you have to download an app, and make an account even for a day pass. The day pass is $5, but there’s a monthly pass for $25 that is worth it if you live in the area. Children under 18 aren’t allowed in the dog park, for their safety and the dogs, which I appreciate. On weekends there’s a staffed bar that you can order drinks from without leaving the enclosed dog area. No on-site parking, but there’s a paid lot adjacent to their property, and earlier in the day you can parallel park on the street for free. (Street parking is always free, but there’s rarely open spots during peak hours) They have a food truck on site, Benjie’s Munch Truck is a mainstay, and sometimes they have a second food truck.

Really cool and relaxed place to bring your dogs and have some drinks. There's plenty of space for you and your dog to chill. There's a bunch of tables and chairs and lots of TVs to watch a game. The drinks are good. I was pleasantly surprised by their beer selection. They don't have their own food, but they do have some food trucks in the corner of the place that have pretty solid food!

Hobbs & Hounds is such a gem for dog lovers and foodies alike! 🐾 The space is wide, full of energy, and packed with seating options—picnic tables, fans to keep you cool, and plenty of screens to catch the game while you enjoy food from the taco trucks and drinks from the bar. The highlight is definitely the dog play area: ramps, toys, balls, and open space where pups can run freely off leash while owners relax. Families, friends, and their four-legged companions all have a spot here. And let’s not forget the music—DJ Anthony (switchbladedave) kept the atmosphere alive with great beats, adding to the fun vibe of the patio. It really makes the place not just a hangout, but an experience. We’re also thrilled to share that Hobbs & Hounds is now No Pet Policy™ Approved ✅. Supporting local, supporting community, and opening their doors to our four-legged partners.

They are the best local bars. Great bartender. Maxine made my best friends wedding event a hit by providing a last minute reserved space and a champagne toast for the party! You dont need a hound to hop on by lol

My dog loves coming here to play! Everyone I have encountered so far are all respectful dog owners and no worries about aggressive dogs, they all just play together! Food is very limited except for later hours or on weekends.

Hops & Hounds allowed us to host our Real Estate Team's 4th Annual "Howl-O-Ween" event in their beautiful space! 😍 The H&H crew was absolutely incredible in helping our firm's vision come to life! The space was perfect with its ample space between their wood benches and their tables & chairs. Plenty of room for friends and furry friends to stroll around. The trees canopy the area while the San Antonio River skirts the bottom edge of the park-like setting. BONUS: The Cuban sandwich from Benjie's is FIRE!! 🔥 The quaint little open-air bar is welcoming whether you sit and chat with the friendly bartenders or order from the walk-up windows. A super fun feature at Hops & Hounds is their amazing bark & play space for your playful pups of all sizes! 😂 You can sit and enjoy watching your doggos run through, on top, and around the various obstacles. My wife, Jennifer Alvarado, is the event coordinator for our brokerage, RE Solutions XV.
