"Hot Stuff is the kind of cult restaurant that’s so adored by locals they won’t hear a bad word said against it. Serving boldly flavoured ‘curry house’ staples such as chicken tikka masala and lamb dopiaza, there’s a level of care which makes the restaurant on Wilcox Road stand out as a cut above the norm, and at an affordable price point. Is it some of the best Indian cooking in London? Certainly not — sorry to those locals — but it’s always packed, and has been turning out a mean chana masala — arguably one of the most deftly spiced dishes — for over twenty years. It’s also BYO." - Helen Graves

Good food. But mini portions for takeaway. But you can see from the first picture. It's tiny. 186g of potatoes for a Bombay Aloo when I got back to my house. Not exactly worth the money at that rate and a bit of a piss take tbh. I complained and they added more to the portion (second picture). I dunno. It's good food and I think eating in you get a better portion. But the prices are the same eating in and out. Can't see myself coming back unless they sort this.

Google
Superb little foodie restaurant, great find and had a great chat with the owner, Raj. Its bring your own beer and no corkage charge which is great with a pub next door to slake your thirst. Food is hot and tasty with a good selection of the standards done well. Do visit you'll love it.

Amazing place!! Really nice staff, great food, and q great price! Only £7 for a meal. Best Indian (Pakistani?) food I've had in London.

Google
Great Indian food and THE LOVELIEST PEOPLE! It was BYOB at no charge, and the owner was extremely attentive and welcoming. They do a tasting menu for about £15 per person and it was all delicious. The curries were delicious, the shrimps were perfectly cooked, and the sauces were addictive as well. DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRIP!

Just been there, having enjoyed a very good takeaway last night with relatives nearby. Felt like family, which it is. REALLy good food. Just so nice; also I really dislike paying for ‘frills’ - this was basic furnished - you pay for what you get to eat. And they are completely happy with you bringing your own wine/beer. Next time, if on my own, I’ll try to arrive for 6pm latest, choose a table under a good light, and hope peace and quiet to eat and read at leisure before the party begins. Very, very good place. I didn’t think there were any left like this. Congratulations to chef and staff!!

Google
Amazing hidden gem that I’ve been going to for years. I’ve always allowed them to choose a selection of dishes for me. It’s delicious and reasonably priced and is BYO without a corkage charge. I’m sad to hear that yet again profit has overruled and Hot Stuff will be no more at the end of the year due to redevelopment. I’m hoping to relocate.

Google
Visited this place a couple of weeks ago when we were in London. Raj, the owner, was amazing. Friendly and welcoming and we did the menu where he just brings us things based on what we were planning to order. We told him we wanted chicken tikka masala and he rolled his eyes and brought us some of chicken dish that was amazing. Lamb Korma was delicious. Aubergine was delicious. It’s BYOB so we purchased a bottle of wine from the shop next door. No corkage fee. Overall, really wonderful experience. Thanks, Raj!

Google
Like other reviewers have noticed, the staff was excellent. We were very excited by the offer for them to choose dishes for us (they are the experts!). We loved everything they served. We visited while touring London for a few days so we won't get the chance to visit again soon, but what a shame for us!

Alan D.

Yelp
I asked the staff at the holiday inn express next door about good Indian food in the area. They completely failed to mention this gem and sent me to Mumbai Delight (which is okay but no where near as good as this place). I will also say that Hot Stuff is more bang for the buck than Mumbai Delight with better quality and quantity food for the same price. The manager here is the chef and host. He was very accommodating and the food speaks for itself. Now I know why they say Indian food can be better in London than India. We got the following dishes and everything is highly recommended. - lamb saag - lamb madras - king prawn masala - aloo gobi - garlic and coriander nan

Yelp
I love this little place. The food is delicious, the owners and staff are great. I don't go there now a days because it's too far from where I live. But I sure do miss it.

Kate M.

Yelp
I had a great experience here! Myself and two others were visiting London for the weekend and decided we wanted Indian food. We chose this place based on the reviews and they don't lie! We reserved about an hour and a half ahead of time and were warmly welcomed. The place was full and noisy with a very casual atmosphere. As it's BYOB, we brought a bottle of wine with us at no additional charge. The owner was extremely friendly and asked us if we wanted to let him choose the food for us. We hesitantly went with that option and we were NOT disappointed. As I'm writing this review a few weeks after the fact and not having chosen the dishes, I can't remember everything we ate...but it was all AMAZING. And when the bill came it was only £33 for three people and we were all stuffed! Delicious food, fantastic value, and a warm welcome...you can't ask for more.

Yelp
Super friendly waiter, small restaurant and difficult to get to (nearest tube stop is vauxhall). Ordered: Chicken tikka masala - yum!! pashwari naan - delicious but not as sweet or filled as other pashwari naan i've had. i still love it though. Good for those of you who like sultanas and coconut. mango lassi - a really small glass... a little watery. rice - standard meat samosas - delicious (i split it with a friend) parathas (free! with four dips!) - same as any other restaurant All of the above for 13.20. i had SO MUCH food it was ridiculous. And the waiter was ridiculously nice and gave us otter pops (or whatever the uk equivalent is) at the end. He's also happy to give suggestions if you dont' know what to order! I recommend booking a table ahead of time, as the place is small and fills up quickly. Great service, great food, great prices, but a difficult location to reach!

Emily B.

Yelp
A must go to when visiting London. The tikka masala is amazing. I was visiting for 2 days and I went there for 2 days. Seriously under rated. A great place and they customize anything you want. A home feel.

Kirsten G.

Yelp
Hands down my favourite Indian restaurant in London. Don't look at the menu, just let them bring you dish after dish after dish! The staff make you feel like you're in their home kitchen! The food is so delicious and authentic. You absolutely cannot go wrong here! They have a huge variety of dishes, and they do a great job of delivering a huge variety when your dining! Go!

Megan W.

Yelp
I almost don't want to write this review because I hate to give the secret away. One of the best dining experiences, and incredible food. They offer for you to either order off the menu, or they will prepare a selection of dishes for you to try! We loved having them give us what they decided, it was as if we told our good friend we hadn't tried Indian food and he invited us over to cook for us. BYOB, amazing tikka, unlimited Naan, and awesome personalities! You really can not go wrong coming here. We will definitely be back.

Joanne L.

Yelp
Yes, it was good. but honestly, the ratings for this place created sky high expectations that were probably impossible to meet! i'm not sure i'm a great indian cuisine connoisseur, cause i think almost all indian food is good. we opted for the "bring us whatever" menu and we got a variety of vegetarian, lamb, chicken, etc dishes with rice and naan. no bill, just someone came over and told us it was £15/person. it was good, for sure, but nothing to write home about and not worth going to vauxhall for a NW londoner. i think as all things, best advice would be to go in with regular human expectations instead of thinking you can eat here and die happy :P (that's how avatar was ruined for me as well..)

Robb B.

Yelp
So it may look dodgy and it my be in an unglamourous place, but OMG the food is amazing. The walls are covered in impressive reviews from great publications from around the world. (amazing what you can do on photoshop) The furniture is plastic and the space is incredibly small will about 10 tables - so book ahead. Often, half the space is booked for one party so it will be loud. Best bit - Bring your own Booze policy. All the Charm is the owner. (light brown eyes- you will see what I mean when you meet him) Don't look at the menu as it is filled with a few of the obvious things but most names you will not know. Just have the owner bring you his favorite of the day and you will be hooked. Whats more, you have to order the ridicules huge circular bread 'nan' thing - it's larger than the table. dooh!!! you will love this place

Yaofeng W.

Yelp
Lunch:chicken tikka masala+mango juice +lamb kebabs.Nothing is my taste finally.Maybe suitable for Indian local people. My question is they charged me more than practical happened.I don't expect argue in another country.

Glen M.

Yelp
My friend took me here about 2 years ago. I loves it. Loves it loves it loves it. First: BYOB. There's even a corner shop in case you need to, or need to recharge. Second: Just go in and order some things-- tell 'em how many dishes, whether you want rice or bread, etc. Third: You may have to bring some hipster-shaped blinders. It's worth the hassle. The food is seriously good. And frickin' cheap. I almost moved to Vauxhall just so I could be near it (though the flats were expensiver and smaller than the size-11 shoebox I lived in already)

Thomas W.

Yelp
Hot Stuff is what makes going home to my parent's house to spend endless hours fixing some disaster on their various computers worthwhile. I haven't had anything but the takeaway for a very long time but the food is amazing. Even dumped into little tin cartons, left to vegetate in a brown bag and drip grease everywhere the food is still very good Indian. Probably my favourite Indian in London for the actual quality of the food (though Tayabs is obviously good for the meat piles)

Mike O.

Yelp
Notice none of the five star ratings are from *actual* Indians? Take a guess why... It's not that the food at Hot Staff is all that bad, but it is far from a four and a half star rating that it has garnered. Yes, they offer a lot of the staples but that alone will not cut it (especially in this town). If you are a connoisseur, you know that your meal is a dance and at any moment it can become a train wreck if you're not careful. What the hell am I talking about? Well, to eat Indian food is a seductive process whereby you are romanced by spice and slowly cooked ingredients yet frankly, I didn't feel much more seduced than being approached by a toothless streetwalker in the daytime offering a BJ for 20 quid. All in all, if you were so hard up for Indian food and were in the neighborhood, I would say that this is you best option, although you could probably still have Holy Cow delivered from Battersea Park Rd too, and they're definitely a world apart; the type of seduction taught in the Karma Sutra! The staff is very nice, courteous, and helpful. Yet, every time I come here I have to ask no less than three people if they're open and if I can get a seat... Also, it's always empty.

Jason E.

Yelp
I first ate here in 1993 when Belay and Abdul, the owners, did all the cooking. It was pretty spartan back then, but the curry was fantastic and together with a naan and rice would cost about a fiver. Then some oik from Time Out wrote it up and now you have to book a table on one of two sittings. Still a good place for a take-away and sometimes I'll drive over from SE1 to pick one up. It's allways busy, the food is great, pick up your beers from the off-license next door or go to the pub at the end of the road, get your pint and take it in. It's still very resonably priced and if you are in the area it's a must.

Yelp
I can't believe, having lived in Stockwell for five years, that we have only just discovered this local gem. The other reviews sum it up, really, small, local, family run restaurant offering freshly cooked amazingly tasty dishes. We took up the offer of the £15 per head sample menu. There was no problem providing a range of dishes suiting on vegetarian and two carnivores. The spread of taste, ingredients and spices were amazing, very different from the stock in trade of the average high street curry house. The staff couldn't be friendlier, the BYOB keeps the overall cost down and the small space coupled with the way meals are served in two sitting create a fantastic intimacy The naan bread is to die for

Yelp
This is our third Indian restaurant in London in the past four days, and I chose it based on the outstanding Yelp reviews. The food was decent, but the service and neighborhood were not the best. After a mile plus walk and experiencing it firsthand, it was definitely my least favorite of the three, and falls way below compared to our favorite. With so many other great Indian options around, I'm not sure why this one is so popular. Neighborhood: On a Sunday evening, the street was mostly deserted with other businesses closed up. There were people milling on the street who didn't make it feel like the safest place. I imagine it is different at lunch time or during the week. Food: We felt pressured from the start to let them pick our food. I knew from the reviews this was a regular thing, but the way the waiter did it in a way that made us feel like we shouldn't order from the menu. With a mix of vegetarians and meat eaters in our group, we figured that was not the best approach. We ended up with a ton of food anyway, and it was all fairly standard taste-wise. Good, but not worth an extra mile of walking. Portions were on the small size. Service: We were seated promptly without a reservation. The restaurant was empty at 6:30 other than one couple when we got there, but busy when we left. Waiter was quick to take our order, and food came fairly quickly. However it was frustrating getting more water, extra rice, and our appetizer/first round dishes cleared. Last but not least, we were not given an itemized bill but just told the amount. When I offered my credit card, he said the machine was broken and that I needed cash. Not too happy about that.

Jon N.

Yelp
You can't beat an Indian joint that allows you to BYOB. After lots of research on Yelp, my wife and I dined here and enjoyed the shit out of it. We ordered way too much food like the fat kids we are. Of course, we had to walk about a mile to get there plus a ride on the Underground, but there are few things we wouldn't do for a well priced and good meal. We highly recomend the butter chicken, garlic naan and curry chick peas. Chicken Tikka Masala was also solid, but you knew that. It always is.

A S.

Yelp
We had a phenomenal meal here. The staff and owner were so nice and helpful. The food was great and they were incredibly accommodating for people with allergies. Also: the prices were INSANELY CHEAP. Not disappointed at all.

Miles J.

Yelp
Awesome!! Some much flavor. Great staff. Just let the staff start bringing the food... no need to look at the menu. Vegan friendly.

Clare G.

Yelp
The name says it all, it's a seriously tasty spot! Been here twice now for the sampler menu at £15 and always leave with a smile on my face, a pleasant feeling of having eaten some really good grub and a doggie bag with more for next day's lunch - yay! Lots of food and lots of flavour. The staff are also super attentive and friendly. They make sure the tailor the sample selection to your tastebuds by asking if there's anything you'd particularly like to have or not and then running you through what they have in mind - now that's service! It's a good place to come with a group as then you get more and more dishes to sample but it is pretty teeny - you'd have to book ahead. BYOB is always a pleasure and the booze shop pretty much next door makes it all very handy. Definitely one to check out! My mouth is watering just thinking about it... c*

Meg K.

Yelp
American here. I haven't had Indian food in London in ages (yeah, I haven't been here since the Concord was in service). We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi and Veggie Samosa. The main dishes had a the perfect amount of heat. The chicken was white meat, and very tender. The Aloo Gobi was well seasoned. £-to-portion-to-quality ratio was actually must better than I can get in the states. Don't forget - BYOB - but there is place next door where you can pick up festive beverage.

Zeynep K.

Yelp
Oh boy. And we think we nailed our first local gem in the Clapham region. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, extremely delicious and fresh Indian food (BYOB). They have soft drinks and lassi on the menu but I like my Tiger beer to wash that spicy Bombay Aloo down. If you want a laid back and good spicy food, come here.

Joyce D.

Yelp
I hate to be a Negative Nancy but I was not impressed with our final meal in London on my first Europe trip. Despite all of the great reviews on Yelp, the dishes left much to be desired. First of all, it is kind of in the middle of nowhere - expect to walk for a bit after getting off the tube and then walking around amongst a residential area. Also, there are 2 locations on the same street! They do the menu for a large group of people where they will just bring out a few of their popular dishes and that's great, but... I just found the food to be a bit bland. Then again, I love spicy food and there are about 10 Indian restaurants within a square mile of where I live (San Francisco/Berkeley) so perhaps it would be spicy and flavorful for people less familiar and accustomed to the cuisine. +1 for the cleanliness and decor - I love the chili decor (if I remember correctly) +1 for their large portions (even by American standards, we had leftovers!) +1 for the milk tea!

Jared H.

Yelp
A little curry place that is a bit out of the way from touristy London, but well worth the bus ride. They have a friendly staff, great food and BYO with an off license conveniently located next door. They have a full menu, but they can also put the chef's menu out with a mixture of items and I believe it was only £15 each and we were stuffed. Food was amazing. I have been there twice and will always visit when I am in London.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Some of the best Indian food I had in London- yes better than anywhere on Brick Lane I went to... The 88 bus stops right nearby or you can take the tube to Vauxhall. We ordered chicken tikka masala and chicken korma. It was our first time ordering Indian food in London and we needed simple dishes everybody knows to have some way to compare. WOW it was amazing.

Simon D.

Yelp
I will tell anyone within earshot about this place. It's one of London's finest establishments. Hot Stuff get the experience of Indian cuisine in London absolutely right. You know when you normally go for a curry and they bring you a weighty tome of a menu full of stuff you don't understand so you just order a chicken korma? Well there's none of that at Hot Stuff. They just bring you everything and then charge you between £10 and £15 a head for it. And it's amazing. Just how curry should be. Ian Wright is often there at weekends picking up his takeaway. You'll be hard pushed to find better value and better food in London. Book ahead. They're always rammed. And rightfully so.

Qype User (absint…)

Yelp
Just coming in to add my voice to the chorus of appreciation for Hot Stuff! Hidden down a very unassuming street, you wouldn't know this place was there without guidance from a local, so I was very pleased to be ushered in by my sister who lives nearby. The guys who run Hot Stuff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and made sure to make me feel appreciated as a new customer. We had take-away and the food was top quality, tasted slightly home made and not at all like the identical flavours you get from generic curry houses all over London. Despite this, it was also super cheap. Will be back to dine in next time!

Anna P.

Yelp
We stayed near here for a few days of sightseeing. Based on good reviews, we came here for dinner. WOW, soooo good! The lamb Khorma is likely the best Indian dish I have ever had. The flavor was sublime and the lamb was fall apart tender. The naan was fantastic. The mushroom fried rice very tasty. We loved we could bring a bottle of wine with us. The service was very friendly and welcoming. I've tried another Indian restaurant in another town and find myself comparing everything with Hot Stuff. So, if you're in the area, JUST GO and enjoy!

Ruth H.

Yelp
I went to dinner with my husband on our recent trip to London. I found this place on yelp and trip advisor had very good reviews to say about this place. My husband said it was apparently a chain but after going there it didn't seem like a chain. This is a more of a "hole in the wall," type of place. And when I say it's a hole in the wall type, I mean that with the upmost respect. I had the mixed vegetables with savory rice, I also asked them to make it spicy. Holy cow! Hands down the best Indian food I've ever had jn my life. I'm from Cali and our Indian there in no way held up to what this place had to offer. The owner was super friendly and they even gave you some pickled sauces for an appetizer. I only wish I came with an appetite because I left back to our loft wishing how much I should've tried their other vegetarian items. I read somewhere that they're closing next year. I hope that's not the case because I definitely want to go back. If you're coming from the states, do yourself a favor and go there!

Ana Lucía S.

Yelp
This place offers affordable, delicious Indian food with a definite kick of spice and heat if you so seek it! Went to dinner with some friends visiting and who wanted to try the great Indian food that is offered in London. We were not disappointed. The food is really tasteful, plentiful and filling. The meat samosas were absolutely fantastic-- really crunchy pastry and filling nicely complemented by sweet Tamarind sauce. Also, these guys are totally flexible to combining plates upon special requests. My husband was able to get Prawn curry with pieces of Lamb. Staff is super friendly and accommodating as well. Finally, although they may not advertise-- they actually allow BYOB! Highly recommend making it over to get your Hot Stuff on.

Suzy P.

Yelp
I know Indian restaurants are a dime a dozen in the UK but I came here with my husband because of the great reviews. Definitely not disappointed. We received recommendations for dishes and everything was delicious. I order chicken tikka masala at pretty much every Indian restaurant I go to but Hot Stuff's may have been the best I've ever had. Our server even brought us free naan due to it being my husband's and my first time in the UK! (To which he then brought me some yogurt when my mouth was burning from the spices on said naan)

Qype User (jooli…)

Yelp
My Local Indian. Fantastic!. Great atmosphere - always full. Hot Stuff has bought great food to a little known road. Full of regular customers - which is a recommendation in itself. You would do well to book in advance. I have watched it grow and only hope that it doesn't grow out of its small self and move!!!!!!! Of course it could take over the chippy next door. Thats my posssibility for HOT STUFF.

Yelp
Ate here last night with a couple of friends, and we all thought it was great :) Looking at recent reviews on this and other sites, I think expectations might be a bit hyped. No, we didn't get a smorgasbord of culinary perfection for £4.50 a head. Prices have undoubtedly crept up (and who could blame them, with the constant stream of Guardian-reading, city-type customers who wouldn't normally dream of visiting Stockwell). The decor is a bit more refined now too. But we did get friendly service, amusing banter with the owner and, above all, excellent Indian food. We took their advice and went off-menu, receiving a selection of starters and main courses with rice and naan. Each dish tasted really good and great choice for vegetarians too. All freshly cooked, no dodgy colouring or layers of grease. For the four of us, the bill came to £55 which isn't bad at all. We'll be going back.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Solid Indian food. The owner couldn't be nicer. The ambiance is somewhat spartan, but decent. The only negative at all was that the weirdest dude sat next to us, and stared at me for an uncomfortably long time. Not the restaurant's fault of course. Just kind of funny and creepy in reteospect.

Qype User (little…)

Yelp
Still the best Indian I've had in London. They've recently moved the restaurant two doors down the road and the original site now houses the take-away operation, Hot Stuff On Wheels... which means when i'm too lazy to walk three blocks but still need my fix, the food comes to me! Staff are always very friendly and chatty and the food never less than delicious a world away from the sweet orange goo you get on Brick Lane.

Motty S.

Yelp
Great food, friendly atmosphere, reasonable pricing, who could ask for more. Don't forget to bring your own alcohol...

Simon F.

Yelp
I found this place due it being mentioned on Anthony Bourdain's Layover programme, and was compelled to visit as it is not too far from where I live. I admit, due to it being featured on the Layover, expectations were high, and the food was good, but... just not exceptional, and I guess exceptional is what I was expecting. When it comes to Indian food, perhaps, I am probably a harsher critic than most, since I have spent quite some time travelling in India. So far in London, I have found the best Indian eateries around the Indian communities of west London (Hounslow) or south London (Tooting), where you can get some particular spectacular south Indian food. The service was slow - it was a Friday night, so perhaps this was understandable, however the staff was friendly, particular a gentleman who I think is the manager. One thing to note is that there is no bill given, it seems you are just given a total. I think they should at least offer the option of a bill. In summary, I would recommend visiting as it is a good value Indian eatery, and the food was all in all, good.

Steven C.

Yelp
We were visiting London and staying in Vauxhall but wanted Indian food so we walked to this place. It's located in a strange street with some other restaurants and car shops. We were pleasantly surprised by the place. Others complained about service but we found it good. The different courses were delivered in a timely manner and quite tasty. One thing I would recommend, at the time they were offering to pick your courses for you and that is awesome. Stop off next door to get wine or beer and then just let them decide what you will eat.

Helen W.

Yelp
This place is definitely the cosiest restaurant I have ever been to with a grand total of four tables inside and three outside, so booking is essential, you have a choice of 7:30 or 9:30, no compromises, you know who is boss in this place! The intimacy of the place means that all the attention is on the guests and the chef has time to make each dish with perfection! Its bring your own booze and the waiters will even keep it in the fridge for you and top up your wine when its running low, very over the top considering my bottle was £3 from Tesco's but I'm not complaining! The place is covered in little chilli's, a warning that the food is spicy but delicious, the king prawns were divine! The poppadoms were delicious! If you dare to venture south, you must pay it a visit! But remember to book!

Jesse C.

Yelp
A nice touch of Indian foods in London at very reasonable prices. We went to try it based on Yelp's ratings & found that most of dishes we ordered were delicious. The waiter was very friendly & helpful. We took his suggestion & ordered two starters, Chicken Jeera & Lamb Samosa, then 4 main courses covering chicken, fish, lamb and vegetable, all of them turned out pretty tasty & better than our expectations! The bill adds another plus to it. A place I definitely would recommend to my friends to enjoy a real exotic flavor in London.

Yelp
Hot Stuff used to be owned by a Indian family of West African extraction (or West African of Indian extraction? Apologies for my appalling lack of historical knowledge) who specialised in cooking up a feast and bringing you a wide selection of their recommended dishes. No need to make a decision; they'll do it for you. This was back in the day when the restaurant was housed in a ridiculously tiny hole in the wall that could handle all of about 20 covers, with steamed-up windows, plastic chillies hanging from the ceiling and canteen-style furniture. It looked like a total dive. To all intents and purposes, it was. And yet the food they produced was second-to-none; lipsmackingly delicious dishes, Indian home-cooking at its finest, naan bread the size of a table and so much food that even at the end of the meal, the offerings had barely been dented. Not surprisingly, they've since expanded. The original hole is still there, but they now own the spot two doors down and its purple frontage makes for an altogether smarter-looking joint. Still, you can't get away from the fact that it's housed in an industrially grey Vauxhall backstreet, and it's BYOB (there's an offie helpfully located right next door) which is purse-friendly but doesn't exactly raise the class factor. I don't know if the original family are still in charge but the ordering policies have now become more formal, if with the same end result; they do an option which is £15 per head and provides you with a variety of curries to share, poppodoms and the aforementioned gigantic naan. This isn't gourmet dining. The staff are brilliantly friendly and cheerful but it's hardly silver service. But the dishes are wonderful, comforting, warming and fragrant, the portions huge (doggy bags are available) and the new premises allow room to breathe. It's not quite as special as it was before, and I do think that they have lost some of the intimacy and family-run atmosphere which used to prevail, but it hasn't negatively impacted on the food at all and it's still my go-to Indian restaurant in London. Book ahead. It may be in Vauxhall but it's more popular than Brick Lane.

Gabriela G.

Yelp
Really nice indian restaurant. I'm not really fan of indian food but every time I come to this place, its ultra tasty. I tried a few things but I love the classic chicken tikka masala with pilau rice. Mmm...definitely recommending the place. And its only 5min walk from Vauxhall station.

Kristen J.

Yelp
This was by far the best Indian food experience I've had. The husband agreed. We opted for the "bring me whatever" option. Like others said, it was two starters, three mains, rice, naan, and a tortilla-like cracker bread thing. More than enough food. I couldn't tell you the names of anything we ate, but every single dish was fantastic. We thought we were getting a steal when we were quoted £28, which we assumed was per person. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that it was actually £28 total. Do not make the trip out there on a weekend without a reservation, though!

Yelp
friend took me here the other night for dinner. omg amazing. i was skeptical based on the location and it's hole-in-the-wall nature but it blew my expectations out of the water. they have bookings at 7:30pm and 9:30pm - definitely call ahead. and then basically we just said bring us whatever and they brought 2 starters, 3 mains, naan and rice and we paid about 15 quid each. everything i had was excellent. not a single complaint from me other than i could not eat more by the end. definitely worth the journey.

Yelp
What a delightful little find in Stockwell, an area not generally renowned for its local cuisine. I'm a big fan of Indian food and this place didn't disappoint. The starters of meat samosas and something else which was like potato balls were delicious. The chicken biryani was good (not amazing though, for truly incredible biryani the best I've had in the Uk has been at Amaya). The dansak curry was of good quality and not oily. The naan bread impressed me most (although if you get a chilli one prepare for a hot mouth). What I love most about this place is its laid back style, you can bring your own drinks and the waiter we had was so friendly and approachable. Do not go here if you want a quiet romantic evening. The ambience is a little frenetic. I will definitely go back, it's not the best Indian I've had, but for the value and convenience it's great.

Yelp
Awesome food. Very low prices. Not much of an ambiance as it is just the kitchen and a few tables. It is BYOB. But the food is amazing.....the location is not the easiest to get to...I took the Victoria line and got off at Vauxhall and walked for about 15 minutes to get to the restaurant. Definitely worth it. Service was also VERY friendly.

Yelp
Came here on Saturday, and as incredible as ever. Genuinely such tasty Indian food, and really not greasy at all. There is a large menu with something for everyone, but I'd recommend paying £15 per head if you're in a group and they bring you out a massive selection of treats, this way you not only get to basically have 10 different meals, but you get to try things you wouldn't usually taste and it does not disappoint! I sometimes worry that in shared meals/tapas esq things I won't get full, but believe me we couldn't finish! Such delicious food, accommodating and friendly staff, plus it's BYOB - a sign of a great place to munch if you ask me. I highly recommended this to anyone!

Yelp
This place was delicious! Let the owner pick the dishes for you and you won't be disappointed! By the end we were stuffed with delicious garlic naan, king prawn Marsala and much more! £17 each with many appetizers and main dishes.

Yelp
There are only good things to say about Hot Stuff. The food, staff and atmosphere are all top notch. Make sure you book early as it can get busy at weekends. Once you're in you can't help but get caught up in the fun of it all. Brilliant.

Yelp
Fantastic food, excellent service, and an extremely warm welcome. From the start, the people were very nice and wanted to make sure we felt comfortable. They don't serve liquor but offered glasses if we bought beer or wine from the nearby store. Raj, the owner, was extremely friendly and offered to do anything we ask. The food was extremely delicious. The restaurant was also packed so we were happy that we made reservations. Everything about the experience was charming. Definitely a place we would go to again. We will also highly recommend it to others.
