"Not far from Flaine, in nearby Avoriaz — a vehicle-free resort known for its angular, shingled buildings — the Sibuet family also revamped the Hôtel des Dromonts in 2016." - Michelle Tchea

"This place channels the past more directly, with its curved archways and sheepskins evoking Connery-era Bond. When the Sibuet family remodeled it in 2013, they weren't allowed to mess with the bones of Jacques Labro's hotel, which is still a design wonder. The rooms may be small, but the communal spaces are a treat. Doubles from $285"

Family Vacation Our family vacation at Hotel Dromonts was an unforgettable experience. The hotel’s location is perfect for skiing enthusiasts, with easy access to the slopes right from the doorstep. The kids loved the cozy, alpine-themed rooms, and the amenities were fantastic. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. Samuel, the hotel director, deserves special mention for his outstanding service and dedication. His warm and professional demeanor made our stay even more enjoyable. We can't wait to come back!

My stay this winter at Hotel Dromonts in Avoriaz was nothing short of magical. The unique design and cozy ambiance of the hotel instantly made me feel at home. The rooms are impeccably clean, stylishly decorated, and offer stunning views of the mountains. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, always going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. Special shout-out to Samuel, the hotel director, whose professionalism and warm hospitality truly enhanced my experience. I can't wait to return to this alpine gem!

This is the second year we come to this hotel for our ski vacation. The hotel decoration is very funky. Retro. You feel like Steve McQueen or Audrey Hepburn would be there. Some of the furniture could use some facelift and there were areas that could use some dusting. We noticed however some decay in the restaurant compared to the previous year. The breakfast was a big disappointment when last year it was wonderful. Yogurt and salmon were presented at room temperature, this year they did not have the boil your own eggs machine which was our favorite last year, the assortment of fresh fruit was disappointing, and the cold cuts and breads offer diminished as the week was progressing. The walls in the restaurant were dirty. The room was very comfortable the only problem was that there was only one mirror and the lights were so low and in such a bad angle that I could no apply my make up. The trash cans are also very tiny. The spa was good although the outdoor spa was not hot enough, neither were the 2 saunas and the hamman was out of service this year. I got a lovely massage. Overall not bad but considering this year we paid even more than last year, I would advise management to keep things tidy and restore the breakfast to its old glory. The hotel felt quieter than the previous year. Less lively.

Just returned from a special Birthday ski weekend with 9 pals at Hotel Des Dromonts nd so glad I booked us the hotel. ||||From the moment we checked in to the we left the staff were so accommodating. ||||The 1970s style lobby and reception feel was such a chilled place to hang out after skiing .||||The modern spa and outdoor jacuzzi were a great place to recuperate with your friends. ||||The food at both restaurants catered for all our various dietary requirements and was of a high standard. With their being 10 of us it made so much sense to book half-board as it meant we didn't have to book restaurants in the village and represented sich good value.||||The rooms were high standard with a walk in shower and free standing bath in middle of room, nice touch but with our set up didn't really get used😂 ||||Having a ski hire shop next door and offering a hotel discount was a no brainer. ||||The whole town of Avoriaz is ski in ski out so whilst technically the hotel is, and you are on a slope for ski out;you do need to walk a little with your skis to ski in at the end of the day but all the fun of the experience. ||||No real need for us to leave the hotel but if you want to there's a pool/bowling bar opposite that closes at 2am or its a short walk in to town. ||||Oh and the alpine breakfasts are great too with a wide choice of hot and cold foods. ||||I will definitely will be back with friends and family.

I was there during the boot room fire, I thought the staff handlers it brilliantly. ||We were awoken and moved next door to the bar/bowling alley in a private room in the back. The bowling alley stayed open long after closing to accommodate us. The fire was due to an electrical fault with the boot warmer and I can't blame the hotel for this. It seemed to be a freak accident. ||They kept us informed throughout the process with updates every 30minutes. It is a terrible situation so I can understand why some other people give bad reviews for their stats but I think the hotel is not to blame. They are refunding us for the night of the fire, all drinks and meals. They replaced our ski rentals for free and are dealing with the ski shops directly for the insurance regarding the damaged ski rental. They gave me a ski pass for free the day we were leaving so I could do a bit extra skiing. ||The staff were incredible, the man on the desk during the night of the fire ran up and knocked on every single door. |Jennifer, the manager, was really great in sorting out damaged items and reassuring us that we will receive compensation. ||A lot of guests were rude to the staff who are not to blame in this situation. Yes it's a terrible thing to have happen on your holiday but it's just a freak event and it was handled as well as it could have been. ||As for the hotel, the rooms are incredibly clean and well maintained. This spa is lovely, it's really cosy and located perfectly for ski in ski out and also near restaurants for the evening. ||My only complaint would be the food but I'm a vegetarian with allergies so Alpine/French food is never that suited to me. There were options available though and everyone else loved the restaurant 'Les Enfants Terribles' and other guests who went also said it was great.

A very special hotel and staff, we were well looked after from start to finish. The hotel had everything we needed, the location was excellent, breakfast was amazing. Skiing was effortless with ski in and out with a perfect boot room. The only down side of the hotel was the noise in the bar opposite, it was loud until the early hours with people outside. Not the hotels fault at all, but it wasn’t good.

This is an iconic hotel from the 1960s with some really striking architecture. It has been refurbished of course but still retains its original charm.||The staff are young and always smiling and ready to help. However the big let down was the food. Having taken the half-board option because it makes life easier, we thought we would have the same standard as in other similar establishments in the Alps.||But maybe because there are only two such hotels in Avoriaz, it seems there is no incentive to improve. The breakfast is very basic for a four star establishment and the quality is also not great. The dinner offer was also very disappointing. The meat was sinewy and tough and the dish or dessert ‘of the day’ was proposed all through the week with very little variety if you are on a longer stay.||If the food standard is increased it will be a five star review, thanks to the location and lovely staff, but the cost-cutting on the catering side is very clear to see.

Lovely hotel with nice breakfast included, dinner service if required, bar and spa. It's calm and very close to the cable car.
