5 Questions with Chef Alessio Longhini Of Stube Gourmet In Italy

"“Just a few tables, an elegant ambience and subtle lighting characterize this Stube-style restaurant decorated with wood taken from the old roof and images of hunters on the walls,” state Michelin inspectors of Stube Gourmet inside the Hotel Europa Residence in Asiago, Italy. Here, 29-year-old chef Alessio Longhini is at the helm, keeping tradition alive via Italian and Mediterranean fare like fusilloni felicetti with arugula pesto and mozzarella di bufala and spaghetto tiepido with shrimp and basil." - The MICHELIN Guide

Starting from the hotel kindly coming to find me when i got lost on arrival to when i left, they were helpful in everyway. The hotel is of the region, cosy with comfortable clean rooms and a several eating options. From the bar area to a Michelin star restaurant. I had one meal there and it was superb. They helped us find bicycles routes and had bikes to loan , rent. Also gave us ideas of what to do in the area. We were a large group of people over a few weeks and all throughout that time, they were perfect hosts.||It is in the center so walking distance to many other restaurants, cafes, shops and the local airport. It is a hotel in the center of the town , so there is noise to at least 10 at night, but on the whole after that it was quiet. It is not a rowdy town, but an elegant mountain location.||I would return for the friendless of the family and staff who run the hotel and highly recommend as a hotel destination.

Over many decades, we have seen more of Italy than most Italians. This was new territory for us, and as with most travelers, after a long day's drive we wanted to settle in to our hotel, have a good meal and then take some time to get the sense of the place. ||||That routine was thwarted in unexpected ways. Asiago has decided to make the downtown area car free and pedestrian friendly on weekends. While that is a worthy aim, we spent half an hour going in circles unable to reach the hotel with our GPS telling us to go down streets that were barred. Several calls to the hotel were thankfully answered in English. I even stopped at the local police station-which was closed for the weekend! This is well known to the locals, but not to people from 4500 miles away. It would be VERY EASY for the hotel to post some helpful directions on their website, and/or notify guests arriving on weekends-but they did not. That is unacceptable.||||Finally, Maddalena, of the hotel met us at a parking lot and guided us to perhaps the one southern street that took us to the hotel. She was very kind, and it is not her fault that the hotel didn't anticipate this problem.||||While we were on our trip, the hotel website was updated to note that their Michelin Starred restaurant would open in June. There was no mention that their other restaurant, also recommended by Michelin, was also closed. We were first told that they were redesigning their menu, an annual occurrence. Digging further, we learned that their chef had left, and a new one was to start sometime in the next few weeks. This is a challenge for the hotel and a major annoyance for someone who booked the hotel nearly a year ago because of the presence of the restaurants!||||The hotel did right by us. They were able to secure a reservation on a Saturday night at a fine restaurant on the outskirts of town, one also recommended by Michelin. They also drove us there and back in the hotel van, avoiding another challenging drive with the weekend restrictions.||||Asiago is a neat little town, a little sleepy, but very clean, crime free and in a pleasant agricultural and recreational environment. Tommasso and Maddalena were exemplary hotel employees and really did give us some insight into the fine people who live here.||||The hotel breakfasts are delightful, the public rooms charming, the hotel rooms (at least ours) a bit dated, but quite comfortable. After the replacement of the third Sky control box, our television worked well and we were able to get some English language news, important in this troubled world. ||||Travelers need to be flexible and open minded. But at the same time hotels need to anticipate the needs of their guests. I'm sure the hotel will again be a culinary destination, and one can't anticipate a chef leaving. We did get a feel for the town and the region. I'm not sure if there is enough to draw us back, other than fine people who see the merits of living in a fairly remote place.

My wife and I had the great pleasure of a short stay at this excellent hotel in late June 2019. From the moment we arrived til the moment we regretfully left we enjoyed the excellent service provided by your hard working staff. From the morning meal to late night dinner and drinks the cuisine was 5 star. This was perhaps the highlight of our trip to your wonderful country. It was also an opportunity for my wife to visit and meet a few of her relatives from the Magnabosco family. We hope to return someday and enjoy an even longer stay at this very fine hotel. Our compliments to you all!

Clean rooms, and extremely nice staff. They welcomed us warmly, and even drove to show us where the (free) parking was! Breakfast was good, and the restaurant and bar downstairs are very nice and cozy too. Their tiramisù is great! Overall a very pleasant stay.

We couldnt taste their food here Is why; we went tò Asiago for Halloween. And for that night we did reservation because we knew that It was about to be crowded. They said 8.30 Is full, 9.00 pm was done. We waited until that time and went to restaurant. And they Just said that there is not any reservation for 9.00 PM for that night. Ok the mistake can happen, not important but their behavior towards us was unacceptable. They did not even offer anything or try to find a solution. They didnt even seem sad. İ am sorry this restaurant cant be in Michelin guide with this attitude. "Look, you can stay at bar and do aperitivo meanwhile if somebody leave, you can eat. " "Guarda, potete rimanere qua nel bar da fare il aperitivo quando se qualcuno finisce, potete mangiare"

Just the best and friendly hotel staff we have meet in a long time. Daniela was with a smile and a hello every time we saw her. We asked if there was a local cheese house that we could tour and she made arrangements for us the next day as private guests.||The room was awesome, clean and quite, over looking the main road. The hotel breakfast were excellent with a variety of local cured meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, rolls, yogurt and more. The spa area was included in the daily price and was a nice touch, Turkish steam room and Dry sauna, with snacks, water and teas to choose from. Everything is in close walking distance to town. We just fell in love with this small mountain community. Can not wait to return. Thank you all.

Europa Residence is located in the main pedestrian street of Asiago, which is filled with bars, cafes and stores. We booked a junior suite for a week: the bathroom was great but the room (#107) was quite small for a suite. ||Although the bed was very comfortable, our room faced the main street and it was pretty loud until midnight.Once the crowds left t was super quiet, but if noise is a concern make sure you book a room on the rear.||The rooms are decorated in rustic wood furniture, which is getting a little old for a 4 stars hotel, but we had all basic needs ||We used the Spa several times and it was lovely.Personell was both friendly and helpful and we were able to reserve and use mountain bikes at no cost for the whole week, which was a big plus for us, without a car.||The breakfast was varied and very good.

This family run hotel is an amazing gem in this small town. We were there for the hockey world championships and thru the various teams got to know all the hotels in town. This was by far the best. The service is amazing for such a small boutique type hotel. It feels like you are at a bed and breakfast where the Mosele family waits on your every need. They have 3 restaurants. We tried them all and all were excellent. The family members who run the hotel obviously take a lot of pride in it. It is immaculately clean and up-to-date. They help with anything they can and there is always someone who speaks English to help. The website pictures really don't do it justice as it is a beautiful small boutique located in the center of town. We would never go to the Italian Alps again unless we stayed here.
