The 7 Best Hotels in Brooklyn, New York in 2023 - AFAR

"Sited above a historic diner at the corner of Metropolitan and Union avenues, this calm, design-forward 187-room retreat contrasts the neighborhood’s bustle with a high‑ceilinged lobby finished in terrazzo, globe lights, and a soothing palette of grays, pinks, and greens. Many rooms feature large balconies or bi-level loft layouts and skyline views; local makers are showcased throughout (select suites include Alex Proba rugs and an exterior fence mural by Fernando “Ski” Romero). A fourth-floor terrace pool with a full lounge and bar — serving tropical snacks like tamarind wings and escovitch lobster tacos — adds a seasonal resort feel, and day passes are available to locals via ResortPass." - Lyndsey Matthews

Google
We booked our stay at Hotel Indigo Williamsburg through a third-party provider, and the experience felt like a classic bait-and-switch. The marketing promised a stylish, upscale boutique hotel with a balcony overlooking NYC. What we got was anything but.|Our room was completely bland, lacking any charm, elegance, or attention to detail. Even worse, it was dirty. There were hairs on the sheets, and the bedframe was visibly soiled. At the price point we paid, we expected at least some basic amenities, but there were no cotton swabs, no washcloths, no robes, no slippers. Just the bare minimum, and not even clean.||The worst part, by far, was the noise. This hotel doubles as party central, with loud music blasting late into the night. Despite a local noise ordinance, the hotel made no attempt to keep things quiet or inform guests in advance. It’s unacceptable that they don’t disclose this when booking. We would not have chosen this location had we known.||I have a relative who lives just down the street, but I will never stay here again. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. Just… yuck.

Google
Great location by the subway. Wonderful staff. Design issues in the room - it was a double room. Air vent over bed made it challenging to sleep with the AC blowing directly on you. Shower did not have non slip tile on the floor so we asked for a mat. Little pressure in the shower as well although my sister down the hall did not have any issues. It must depend on the room. I would still stay there again. Pool is nice and a good vibe.

Google
Location was central to the events we attended. The rooms were meh - not even an iron or ironing board. Overall staff attitude uncaring - at 4:30 pm housekeeping still hadn't come, and when I asked front desk I got a snide remark "they're here til 6:30". |Nice rooftop deck and pool. Food in the roof restaurant is a limited menu but really tasty. For the price, this place should have been MUCH MUCH better. The biggest negative shock was a previously unannounced $200 per day "deposit" - for WHAT?!! This was not on our pro-forma room quote, and the woman who checked us in was pretty rude about it. I would not return unless I had to.

Google
My stay at Hotel Indigo was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I arrived at 2:53 PM and had to wait over an hour to check in because my room wasn’t ready. During check-in, the front desk staff failed to communicate several key details—most importantly, that the pool would be closed one full day for a private event. They also failed to mention that children were not allowed in the pool after 1:00 PM, which significantly disrupted our plans. On the one day we were able to use the pool, we had to wait almost an hour just to get pool towels—completely unacceptable. The pool staff also failed to inform us that cabanas were reserved seating, causing more confusion. Housekeeping came only once during our entire stay, and the room was left dirty with hair, dirt, and grime still visible. I was charged a $142 resort fee for amenities I couldn’t even use due to poor communication and lack of service. Worse, I attempted to contact the hotel via email and phone to address these issues and received no response at all. Overall, the staff lacked professionalism, warmth, and basic hospitality—this was far from the “boutique hotel” experience they advertise. Do not waste your money staying here. Hotel Indigo completely failed to deliver even the minimum expectations of a quality hotel stay.

Google
Not going to lie, I’ve passed this location 100+ times living here in NYC. Never did I know or imagine a hotel being located right off of Metropolitan Ave. The front desk staff is very hospitable, well-versed and patient with the guests. The property is rather modern and clean. Hallways offer a calm and private ambiance when walking to your room. Quick elevators and decent amenities (restaurants, room service and snacks) on site. Rooms are nicely lit with minimalist design. Very cozy and make you not want to leave the room. Nice public spaces throughout property to take phone calls, sit and relax, do work or socialize (inside and out). I believe there’s a rooftop pool and gym as well.

I stayed at this hotel Friday - Sunday night and was very disappointed with the experience. For $400 a night, the condition of the room was unacceptable.|    •    There were flies in the bathroom everywhere. I called front desk and they seems unbothered |    •    The iron was dirty, and there was dust above the bed.|    •    Not even a bottle of water was provided in the room.|    •    On top of the high nightly rate, I was charged $250 per night in “incidentals”, which felt excessive considering they have no minibar |    |The only saving grace was the rooftop den. The atmosphere there was peaceful, the food and cocktails were excellent, and the service was impeccable. Staff even helped us access our room through a side door, which was a nice touch.||Overall, the rooftop experience was wonderful, but the hotel accommodations themselves were far below standard for the price charged especially being a 3.2 star

Stayed here with my best friend for her birthday Aug 15-17. We waited 45 minutes to check in because the room wasn’t ready. They offered nothing as compensation. We had to change our dinner reservations. When we got to the room, it was 85 degrees. We requested someone assist with the ac and waited another hour. The man who came up to assist was scary looking and we weren’t even sure if he worked for the hotel. Once we came back the temperature in the room was still hot. We slept naked. After complaining numerous times we were moved the next day.

Google
would NOT stay here again. room was ok, beds were too low to the ground, front door was not automatic so it was difficult to get bags in and out. no door man or help to get bags up to the room. could not check in early and they didn't give me late checkout despite my loyalty card. my friends stayed at the Moxy instead and that seemed like a much better property. They that instead.

Yelp
Not terrible but not great either. Still, a decent option for a decent price. Pros: Literally steps from the L train station. Doesn't get any closer than this. Perfect for my needs commuting into Chelsea. Extremely close to tons of restaurants, a grocery, coffee shops. Generally safe area. A great fast coffee shop in the lobby with pastries. Efficient service and decent coffee. Checkout was fast and convenient even middle of the night. Lobby area feels safe and well attended, elevators secured by card. Generally clean and utilities worked, fixtures and toiletries are what you'd expect from a hotel indigo. Water pressure and hot water worked great. Cons: Not the greatest maintained but tolerable for nyc. For example, cabinet doors that were misaligned, an alarm clock with inaccurate time, giant hairball by the closet when I came in. Lighting is really harsh with a giant cold white ring light above your bed. Gives creepy operating room vibes. Not sure what designer thought this would be a look. Can be loud - sirens constantly on highway outside hotel, parties next door until late.

Yelp
This review is for the hotel day pass for the pool. When u get off the elevators u have a nice seating area & bar. We got a Day pass during the summer & it was not bad, by the time we arrive there was no seating available so we sat by the couches which was decent. We wanted to get a dessert since we happen to be celebrating a bday but they do not have any food options, we ended up getting drinks & tried the Zombie beach frozen drink it was not bad good taste but really not worth the $18 dollar price tag. Decent size pool as long as it's not crazy crowded its a good size but overall its not very big. we had an enjoyable afternoon as the pool served it's purpose the day pass was worth giving it a try.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel BUT DOES NOT REFUND THE $200.00 SECURITY DEPOSIT! I had to call six times to try to get my refund and nobody was able to help me. This is despicable for a hotel of this caliber. I would never stay here again or recommend it due to their dishonesty.

Yelp
Stayed here at the end of December 2024, between Christmas and NYE. Friendly front desk staff, interesting architecture, hip vibes, clean and very spacious room for NYC for the pricepoint. Bonus: they provide a Keurig in the room w/ k-cup pods from BKG Coffee Roasters, and it was very good. Front desk staff were very responsive, responding to our calls/requests quickly, which I appreciated. Walls are quite thin so I occasionally heard water running and garbled voices from nearby rooms. Toiletries provided were basic, but adequate. In the lobby there is a large bar and lots of comfy seating to lounge on. The most popular drag of the neighborhood where many of the larger hotels and retail shops are located, is about a 15-20 minute walk away. This hotel is located in a quieter part of the neighborhood, but still convenient, as it was right next to a train stop and very close to a popular diner, as well as grocery stores and coffee shops. The main entrance is nestled away from the street, so getting picked up and dropped off by car was very easy. After checking out, they stored our luggage for us for the day, free of charge, which was very helpful. But 2 things that I found inconvenient: 1. No slippers available (so bring your house slippers if you're like me and don't like to walk barefoot in hotel rooms but also don't want to have to put on my street shoes every time I get out of bed) 2. No free water available (they only sell overpriced bottles of water in the lobby; go across the street to the grocery store instead). I'd consider staying here again when in Brooklyn.

Yelp
We were in the neighborhood to visit family and decided to stay here. It was pretty busy as it was July 4th. We had the balcony room. Everything was clean and spacious. It was close to some shops, they had a garage, but that's separate from the hotel. All that mattered to us is that everything was clean. We were only there for a night, so we didn't have any complaints. Everything was straight forward.

Marilyn P.

Yelp
The room was not as pictured. No bedside lamps or chairs in room. The housekeeping was terrible. They entered our room twice when the "do not disturb"sign was placed. No washcloths. Requested 3 times for a lamp and was brought an old lamp that had mice droppings on it! They didn't even wipe it down! Windows were filthy. I will not stay there again. I would give them a no star.

Yelp
While attending a community fundraiser& fellowship kickoff, it was a fabulous stay in the heart of Brooklyn at Hotel Indigo. Next door housed a 24 hour diner, it was right up the street from our venue and the stay was everything I expected New York to be, nothing more, nothing less! Ambiance Rooms 4/5 Stunning hotel, fresh sheets, great foyer, lobby, rooftop, and bar with amazing room views to the hustle and bustle of New York. They didn't have a microwave or Kerig coffee machine but that's just my personal preference. Sheets, room temps, bathroom, towels and space were suitable for my stay. Service 4/5 Front desk service was pleasant and check-in was smooth sailing after credit card and identification verification. As you can imagine, we were not in the hotel much however we ate at the diner next door, it was too convenient. Food N/A - Fortunate for our group, we had an all expense paid trip : D We ate breakfast at the 24 hour diner right next to the hotel and of course NYC Time's Square pizza, Bubba Shrimp and all the otha food. My healthy eating went right out the door. I for sure put on the pounds and slight double chin. lbss. Overall 4/5 Great stay, accommodations, service and ambiance especially the rooftop bar. The pool was opened however we didn't get to indulge. Maybe next time! 10 out of 10, I would recommend!

Yelp
I stayed here for a nice overnight birthday getaway in October 2023. It was a very nice, quiet stay. I had no issues checking in or out. The hotel parking is a little pricy, that would probably be my only "complaint." But it was very restful and nice. The pool was closed as well due to it being October, but I was able to take my birthday pictures on the pool deck still. Definitely a nice staycation getaway!

Yelp
Originally, we had not planned on staying here. We were visiting family in Bedford Stuyvesant and booked four nights at the Bed-Stuy Holiday Inn. Shortly after we booked the reservation, the Holiday Inn became a refugee shelter. This Hotel Indigo was a little more expensive, and one of the IHG Group's "nicer" hotels, so when offered, we said okay. We arrived just before check-in time and no rooms were available. For a fee, they held our baggage while we went out for a few hours. When we returned, we paid for our luggage and got the key for our room. Our room had a street view - for where we were it was not much of a view. Since the hotel was just a place to stay and we planned to be out most of the time, that was fine. The room had two beds, a desk, a TV with limited channels but an easy way to connect one of your devices using the free wi-fi. The bathroom was clean. And after the time was up, I can say the room was quiet with no street sounds. We also went to the bar on our last night. They have a nice bartender, but not a very good selection of liquors - only a few of each of the major liquor types. I did see some after dinner drinks but didn't notice what they were. They did have Red Breast 15yr Irish Whiskey, a personal favorite. I had the last pour off the bottle, then they were completely out - no back up bottles. A few negatives: The water temperature was very difficult to regulate. I tried to take a shower and it was either hot or cold. When I'd find the right temperature, within moments it would get cold. This was frustrating to say the least. While the room was clean, the small refrigerator they supplied was not. It was also on the warm side with no way to adjust it. While not perfect, it was a nice place to stay. I have no reason to go back to Williamsburg and will find something closer to Bed-Stuy next time. And my experience at other Indigo properties has been much better. The hotel management needs to ensure housekeeping and the maintenance staff look at and, clean, and maintain the refrigerators or remove them from the rooms. I'm not sure what they can do about the plumbing, but I hope they figure it out.

Yelp
These rooms need to be renovated badly. We walked in to a huge moisture stain on the bar, the glasses and mugs were all covered in dust as was the floor. Anything we dropped was covered in layers of dust, who knows when the last time it was mopped. The walls were scratched up and the floors badly stained. The shower was the worst - there's visible mold on the floor, the shower heads were rusty and discolored. To make matters worse, there were gnats coming up and out from the floor drain, crawling and flying everywhere while we showered. They also neglected to ever mention the $200 per night deposit, at any point - just charged me. The front desk and service people were amazing but I would not return. This was not fun.

Yelp
Not sure what I expected but guess it was a little more than what I got. I get it's New York so the room was small but...??? Pluses are that the hotel seems relatively new, well maintained and has amenities. The bed was firm but pillows needed a little more stuffing. Also, bed seemed a little lower than most. The bathroom was decent sized. The shower was a combination rain style (water falls straight down) with a hand held nozzle as well. Water pressure and temperature was good. Definite plus. The room had a single, small chair in the corner that one would find more in a waiting room. The hard plastic desk chair with bad rollers was a definite turn off. The desk was small with a single outlet on the wall next to it. Tried using the outlet for charging batteries without much success. There was a second outlet near the bed which seemed to work better. My room was the "city view" room. Yes in the distance I could see the Empire State Building but the foreground of graffiti buildings and the Interstate definitely does not justify the added cost. Even in the sixth floor the road noise was present. There is a lobby with a bar serving extremely overpriced drinks. The restaurant was closed so food had to be found elsewhere. I highly recommend the taco truck parked across the street. There is a parking garage adjacent to the building. It's valet as they stack the cars. $37 per day. Also the subway station is located at the corner. It took about 20 minutes to drive over from LaGuardia Airport. In all it was an ok stay. Friendly staff, well maintained, parking available. Just expected a little more from this chain.

Yelp
The Hotel room was spacious by New York standards, unfortunately there was limited storage options. Probably 2 drawers in the large mini fridge cabinet and the hangers at the front and that was it. There is also no mini bar, but the hotel is superbly located with an organic grocery store across the street, so stock up and you'll be fine. The bathroom is large enough too, I really enjoyed the shower which was nicely designed. However once again, kilted counter space. I visited in the summer and there were strange bugs/flies coming from the bathroom ventilation near the shower, which looked odd to me given that this is a recent hotel. Room service wasn't super reliable and pretty average when they did the rooms. Overall the hotel could have been a tad cleaner. Service at the front desk was very nice, and so were the baristas at the on site coffee shop. Note that I had booked this hotel specifically for the pool and realized that about two thirds of the lounge chairs are reserved for Resort Pass reservations on the weekend. Which leave about a third for hotel guests. So you'll need to come down at 10am to reserve a chair. This is annoying, especially since the rooftop gets pretty crowded and also, the pool isn't even heated, so I could only enjoy it a couple of minutes at a time. For this reason, I'm not sure if I would go back.

Yelp
Average hotel with nothing that stood out to me and a couple things I would have liked were missing. Front desk concierge was great. Check in and out process were smooth. I remember John was so kind! The lobby area is spacious. People are there on their laptops. Wifi is free. There is a coffee bar that opens as early as 7:30 AM, but it turns into a bar in the evening into the night. This hotel connected to an apartment complex next door and Kellogg's Diner in the corner. They have an outdoor space within a colorful fence. The fitness center was open 24 hours, but you need a card key for access. Great location, less than 2 minutes from the L line subway entrance/exit on Metropolitan. They were able to store our luggage without an extra charge after we checked out. We got a room with a king bed. -The mattress was lower than I am used to. -Floors weren't dusty, but I could tell they weren't cleaned thoroughly. -The desk was small. The chair had wheels but wasn't comfortable. -The mini fridge in the room wasn't a fridge. It was more like a cooler. -You have to request ice. No self-access to an ice machine. -Little flies crowded the shower ceiling. (I would only notice these the night of when house keeping cleaned our rooms. They came by twice, and I saw the flies each time.) I killed like 5 by slamming the walls, but there were still more out of my reach. They didn't bother me, but it didn't sit well with me. -After "house keeping", nightstands weren't dusted. Floor still had stains. -For no reason, the AC would turn on in the morning like every 10-15 minutes. We tested this by changing the thermostat to 76 degrees and 69 degrees, and it was still the same. When accessing from a car, use the address 491 Keap Ave.

Yelp
They charge a $200 security deposit per night that you stay there. So be weary of that as literally no other hotel I've stayed at does that. It's all of the money we want to use while on our trip....being held by them. The more nights you stay the more you're punished lol?
google avatar

Yelp
Staff is INCREDIBLY rude. Rooms have MOLD all over the bathroom. And the place is OVER PRICED for such poor quality. They were very snobby about asking simple questions like parking and almost towed our car because we had to do two trips. They also don't let you take your car once you park it in the garage until the end of your stay but won't tell you that. Asking basic questions was the world biggest inconvenience for the staff.... sorry you had to do your job and look down your nose at everyone while doing it. Would not stay here again, very unwelcoming.

Richard H.

Yelp
Dreadful hotel. Breakfast not served until after 8am - not great if you have to leave at 7.30am every day. Laundry service - they recommended a launderette down the road as they said the laundry company were no good. Forgot to make the early morning call I had booked on day I had to leave - and blamed other colleagues rather than apologising. I stay in 20 hotels a year and this was the worst.

Yelp
The rooms were decent but if you go when the pool isn't open (seasonal) that also means the beautiful bar and seating you see in the photos aren't accessible either. Very disappointed! The drinks were over-priced and not worth the money. The lobby breakfast menu was very minimal and was served cold. The restaurant Aliya wasn't open and the hotel told us they didn't have control over that because they are separate from the hotel. There was also a big basketball youth group that took over the hotel so certain areas were off limits. They should have told us these things when we booked the room. In addition, they charge a $200/night security deposit and they don't refund you for 7-10 days!

Yelp
Here for work. Let me just do my pros and cons list. PRO: Very helpful & sincere staff. None of the cons is a reflection of front desk Daniel, and everyone else I've encountered. I realized I didn't pack toothpaste, they brought one up at 1am The lobby is very cool. The design is on point. Bathroom is well designed and efficient use of space. Cons: I made the mistake of opening the air filter panel because I thought it was a closet. ‍ The filter hadn't been changed since 2020. I called and they immediately changed it. Their address. Make sure when you get dropped off by your Uber, Lyft whatever to use this address: 491 Keap Street. Same goes for any food delivery service. If not you'll get dropped off on the other side of the street. It's not a long walk but it's around the corner. I was just tired from my flight. I was in the corner room. The decor seems like it was left over from a 90s hotel. If they were going for retro, they did it but it looks like vintage pieces. I'm missing a nagel poster.

Yelp
I was very impressed with this hotel. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, including Chris at the front desk who helped me with a later checkout so I had time to relax before my flight home. The room itself was great. The king bed was comfortable. A little on the firmer side but I slept well. The bathroom was nice and had a lot of modern fixtures. The only thing that was a little annoying was the air conditioner would kick on and sometimes be a little noisy. Nothing too bad but sometimes it could be distracting. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here and next time I'm in town, I will!

Yelp
Extremely mediocre, no room service... pool with tons of people who weren't staying at the hotel, some staff members were nice (coffee bar worker, bartenders) but there was one girl who had no customer service skills at all who was rude to us on 2 occasions during our 3 night stay. Cracked wall tiles and walls, bathroom is like RIGHT by the bed... In a city like Brooklyn, with a million options.... Just stay somewhere else.

Lily K.

Yelp
This hotel is insanely overpriced for the level of service they provide. We had two different reservations last weekend; one night for drinks on the rooftop, the other for a cabana at the pool. With the former, the hostess was quite rude and tried to cover up the fact that they hadn't prepared our section by insisting we have 75% of our party present before they'd let us up to the roof. We got our numbers, and they still wouldn't let us up -- nothing was ready. We ended up sort of demanding we be let upstairs 20 min after our rez had already started to at least order a drink at the bar (we weren't allowed to do that). Once we finally got our section, our waiter didn't come over for another 30 minutes to get drink orders, and was very frazzled the whole night by a party of our size (12 people..). He did the best he could, but the whole team at this hotel was super unorganized. It's so expensive!! Why!! The pool day hostess was kinder, but looked shocked that we had a cabana reservation -- as the prior night there had apparently been a huge party that ended in vomit on most of the cabanas. They quickly cleaned one up for us (again, we had a reservation, why was this surprising?). Then service at our *expensive* cabana was....not great. We were constantly going to the bar ourselves to be told by the bartender that we have a waitress who will take our orders. Well..that waitress almost never checked on us, forgot or messed up food orders, but then made sure to be very present when I had a drink in the pool to tell me that wasn't allowed. Kinda got the vibe that the people working there were just there to hang with the other staff members, and weren't very good at....service? In any way. I was just shocked at how disorganized this place was. I'm so glad I didn't buy a room there ~ so overpriced, ESPECIALLY for the level of service.

Yelp
To start off there are two Hotel Indigo's in Brooklyn - but one is closed except they never alerted google or apple maps of this. Second, in an attempt to give good service they gave away the room we reserved for an "upgrade" to a loft suite. There is no bathroom in the loft and its a circular staircase up to the loft that is very difficult to manuever your luggage and a challenge with a hip injury. When we asked for our reserved room they said they could move us but not to the room we reserved. What we were provided was a significant downgrade to what we had reserved. Not sure for whom their loft suite would be an upgrade - its a bad design and their regular rooms are extremely small and very uncomfortable.

This is my second time staying here in less than one month. I should've learned my first time. No hot water at all. Same excuse both times.

Yelp
where do I begin... booked the hotel selecting the double bed option because there's 4 of us. We arrive, and they give us a ONE BED TINY room for the 4 of us. Then, they said they can't help us because they're booked and busy. So they give us 4 room cards and we have nowhere else to go so we proceed to figure how to sleep 4 people, 2 of which are a couple btw, on a queen bed. Then, we slept horizontally on the bed with our feet and heads hanging off because that way we could all fit. Other sleeping options within the tiny room were considered (i.E shower and closet. See attached for pics). In the middle of the night we kept tripping over each other's feet that were hanging off the bed. Then, the next day one of us attempted to go up to the room, but her key card did not work.she goes to the front and they refused to give a new one. Then, the manager comes and tells us that they can give us a new room for $700. She felt like a criminal because someone from the hotel team escorted her up and waited outside the door since the refused to give her the key which we suspect THEY DISABLED. And then, another one of us took the elevator down to the gym and ended up in a mail room in the apartment building NEXT DOOR. he was stuck there until someone from said apartment building opened the door. Please see attached for pictures because this a TRUE story. Guy at the front from hotel staff was bomb tho.

Yelp
Stayed here for a wedding (this is where one of the wedding blocks was). Pros: generally nice hotel, good location, yummy coffee in the lobby. Cons: RUDE staff. Kyra greeted us at the pool, stepped in front of us, and said "the pool is full." When we said "this is part of the reason we chose this hotel," Kyra corrected herself and said "no I'm not saying you can't go in, I'm saying it's full." As we proceeded into the pool area, it wasn't full. There were no chairs, but there is a difference between saying "so sorry, we don't have chairs right now" and blocking us from walking in and saying "the pool is full." Meanwhile this pool is TINY, and Hotel Indigo is renting out the pool to non-guests via Resort pass. This hotel pool is too small for offering it out to non-guests, who are paying $400/night and expecting to be able to swim. When our flight out was cancelled due to a flash flood warning, and when we asked if we could checkout at 3pm instead of 11, we were again met with Kyra. She told us no, flat out. She said that the hotel was booked for the night and there was no way to check out late. I know this option isn't always available, but after the pool incident, we had lost trust in Kyra. We looked online and there was PLENTY of availability. So I approached Kyra a second time and told her that. She said I could book a night through my phone (the price of a full additional night) but that she couldn't extend it. Again, this was due to an extreme weather situation and there was just zero empathy or understanding. We then asked to speak to a manager and Juliana came out. She was nice and fair, and explained that there IS an option to extend checkout for $150. Done. Boom. Still a little strange, given the weather situation, but better than hearing "nope!" So Kyra was confidently wrong, and with all the options for hotels in Brooklyn in this price range, we expect better customer service. Especially when a bride and groom have chosen you to take care of their guests. I travel a lot, and hotels are usually flexible and I've never been actually charged to extend my checkout when the hotel had availability, so...noted. The room itself is tiny, and the toilet is 4 feet from the bed. There were hairs in the shower that weren't ours, and stains on the wall. The good news is we can choose to not stay at this hotel chain again, and many other hotels are just waiting to give excellent customer service. Thanks anyway IHG.

Yelp
I personally LOVED how the room looked and the design was so unique! The bellman was so helpful and so was the front desk! The shower is a waterfall shower and pretty straight forward on how to understand how to use. I was so excited because I had a king sized bed all to myself only to be disappointed because it felt like I was sleeping on the floor with how firm the mattress was. Woke up with a kink in my neck and bad back pain . The hotel itself is in a great location literally right next to the L train and only minutes from Manhattan. But I would highly suggest adding a mattress topper or something if someone who works at the hotel is reading this.

Yelp
RUN!!!! I never had a more disgusting service in my life. Came to check in. We booked via Hotel Tonight. My gf booked with her Russian name and they had issue checking her in because her Id showed mismatched name. I'm not happy about it but I understand, what is not okay however, is that they were not ready to work with us. In fact, I felt like they were ready to escort us to the door. Finally, they realize we wanted to check in and wanted to find a solution, it was midnight and we had luggage. Okay, finally the manager said we can call hotel tonight to make sure they resend the confirmation with my gf English name because it is not his problem. Okay, so we called Hotel Tonight. We just want them to resend the confirmation to the hotel with my gf English name. We called them back after 30 min and they said they couldn't reach the front desk. Okay, we did hear the phone ringing but thought nothing of it. Maybe it was other people they are ignoring. I ask hotel tonight if I can just pass the phone to the receptionist and manager and they can work it out. Nope, walked up to the front desk and told them that they couldnt reach them through the phone and ask if I can just pass my phone to her. Nope, she didn't even look at me, just said Hotel Tonight have to call us, and if they can't reach them, they can't help us. I told them, yes they have been trying to reach you guys for a long time. She just usher us to sit down and said there is nothing she can do if Hotel Tonight can't reach them. The black manager, Jose I think?, said they can't check me in because of the mismatch name because it leads to fraud, which I understand. What I don't understand however, is why he talked to me like I don't understand what fraud is. The manager/receptionist were so unhelpful and rude to us specifically. I am not sure if it is because we are gay or that my gf is Russian (I heard the receptionist made fun of my gf Russian name, like a kid that pronounce your ethic name wrong to make fun of you). Like WTF?!?! This type of service is so unacceptable. The black manager were all smile to everyone else beside us. Okay fine, we sat back down and waited for Hotel Tonight to sort it out with the staff. Well what do you know, the black manager came up and ask "What did Hotel Tonight says?". I told him they said they can't get in touch with you guys. He finally smile and said well he just spoke with them and told them they can't let us in. Okay, then why did you walk up and ask me what they said If you just spoke to them? Seems to me like he is insinuating that I'm lying. He was ready to wait for us to leave. Well, then hotel tonight call us and told us that they already sent the new confirmation and has been trying to call them to check their system to confirm that they resolved the issue. So, did the manager tries to lie to us to get us out??? So I walked up and told them to see if they received any update from hotel tonight because I'm literally still on the phone with them and they told me they sorted it out from their end. Well what did you know, the receptionist finally "found' it. Maybe she got it for a long time and has been ignoring it, hoping we just take the lose and find another hotel. IDK Okay, so they have no choice but to check us in but they made sure to let us know we not welcome from their reaction. Whatever, but here is my second interaction with the receptionist. My gf and I went downstairs to ask for toothbrushes. Well, I ask if she knows where I can get toothbrushes. She gave me 1 with my gf behind me. Then my gf ask if it is just one or is there two in the box? Well, she ROLL HER EYES and gave her another one. HOW FUCKING PETTY CAN YOU BE? We weren't even rude, I was pissed because we never had issue with booking via Hotel tonight but we were always polite in the way we talked to them. I know they have to follow protocol, that's fine but what's with this attitude especially when I see the them all smile with everyone else BESIDE us. I saw that he balck manager help everyone else beside us. So what is it? Because my gf has a Russian name? Because we are gay? Whatever it is, RUN. This hotel 's front desk service is a fucking joke.

Yelp
If you do not like firm beds DO NOT stay at this hotel! The beds here are sooooo hard, we could hardly sleep. The building is cool and the lobby is nice. The staff are very friendly. There were 2 bottles of water and a sample of cookies in our room when we arrived. The rooms leave a lot to be desired. There is no color and the furniture is not comfy. I like a room with a little more warmth. We had a tub / shower combo in our room which was a bit weird. The tub is cool looking but kinda hard getting in and out and very slippery when taking a shower. There is no water pressure and the water does not get very hot. There is a dispenser of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. You get a bar of soap at the sink. You can not get your own ice. The ice machine is in the basement, so you have to call the front desk to get them to bring you a bucket of ice. There is a refrigerator but no microwave. Our refrigerator was in a cabinet and the heat produced by the motor was trapped so the cabinet gets really hot. Our room on the 7th floor had a view of the freeway.

Yelp
-First Impression- Beautiful lobby and reception area. This place is huge! Super long hallways -Service- the front desk girls were very friendly and courteous. Upon check in, I was given the run down about breakfast and dinner served by the hotel, room service, the pool, the fitness center, and was escorted to the elevator. Most other staff members I encountered throughout the day gave smiles and said good morning. -Price- when I first started looking at this hotel, the prices seemed very reasonable (less than $200/night). Depends how far out you book, I guess. -Did Not Like- The thermostat seemed to go kind of haywire and randomly blast super cold air no matter what I set it to. Also, there was a latch on the door to the balcony that was pretty difficult to open and close... and since we're talking about the balcony, I wish I knew in advance that the "view" was straight into the back of another building. -Noteworthy- Front desk staff is great! -Recommended?- Ill have to make use of the pool next time!

Yelp
This was a pretty awesome hotel. Although we've stayed at many IHG hotels, this was our first at an Indigo. They had cookies in our room when we arrived and we had a view of the Empire State Building. The rooms are modern and clean. I like how the room we had was bright and felt bigger than a standard New York hotel room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel room price was pretty reasonable. I have zero complaints about this place.

Yelp
After visiting this hotel this weekend, all I can say is that my partner and I are extremely disappointed. The room hygiene is poor. The staff is unprofessional, disrespectful and non-accommodating. They're coffee & bar staff Becca, was caught calling a guest a nasty name. The female general hotel manager, also non-accommodating and rude. All around, worst hotel experience of my life to date. Do not recommend. You're better off at The Hoxton, Williamsburg Hotel, or Ace hotel in Brooklyn :) I have stayed at Indigos all over the world. My favorite one was the one located in Berlin. This one does not even come close to the standards of any other Indigo around the globe. Hope this helps.

Yelp
Paid $40 for a charcuterie board on their rooftop with store bought dried fruit and bread sticks. Had to leave my table to go up to the bar to request water, to order, and to pay because the waitress ignored me the entire time. Staff is disorganized and rude.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The entrance/lobby/reception are very oddly arranged, but the cleaning staff was timely and if you needed them to come back later, they always did. We ended up with a corner room opposite of the highway, so we really lucked out in terms of outside noise and size of the room. It was fine for 2 of us with a desk and even a mini fridge. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but not terrible. The bathroom is quite small, but it's worth it for the space in the shower and the amazing waterfall shower head...my most favorite I've ever had in a hotel! This is a newer hotel so I was nervous when reading reviews, but overall the stay was good. I will say that other reviews saying that their cell service didn't work and that the hotel WiFi dropping are very true. Expensive overall, but good for New York prices.

Yelp
Shockingly bad- believe the reviews Husband and I were put in a room with two beds. No big deal, mistakes happen. We went downstairs and politely asked to be move to a room with one bed. First, we were told (insistently) that we had booked a room with two beds. I showed her the booking confirmation that said one bed. Then, she said that we booked a room with a full bed, and they gave us a room with two full beds- so we should be grateful? What? I understand that things happen, but this was so poorly mishandled and we were given multiple contradicting excuses. *MOST IMPORTANTLY* I have never, ever been treated as rudely as we were by Akeeba Fermin- not even at youth hostels. She was dismissive, unkind, condescending, and made us feel like an extreme bother for DARING to ask that she give us the correct room type. She was snarky and quite literally rolled her eyes at us. Other reviews have alluded to terrible service, and I would venture to guess that they interacted with her as well. Why is somebody so unwelcoming and downright cruel still employed in a hospitality setting? When we got to the room, it was dusty and had not been properly cleaned. I would give this hotel zero stars if I could, for Akeeba alone. I will never stay at an IGH hotel again.

Yelp
Came to hotel indigo on my wedding night. We stayed for 2 nights. As soon as we got there everyone was so accommodating. Dmitri, Daniel, and Christian were warm and welcoming. The rooftop pool was clean and quiet. Will definitely come again and recommend to friends and family.

Yelp
This hotel is like a gem nestled behind an area you wouldn't expect. The rooms were clean, small but the bed was so very comfortable. Everyone was nice and helpful. However, the host who stood out was TIDI. Tidi welcomed us from the moment my daughter and I arrived. Everytime we would see him it was a pleasure. Around the beautiful heated pool, he made sure my 10 year-old daughter was safe and that we were taken care of. It meant so much to me. Hotel Indigo is a 10 minute walk to delic restaurants and the best Gelato place I've ever been named Gelateria Gentile - Williamsburg. It's a must have! When we were checking out, we were genuinely attached to him. Because he was one of the kindest people we have met. Cheers to Tid!! Thank you for taking good care of us and making sure we have the best hotel experience. I can't wait to go back. Hotel InDigo Williamsburg is a lovely place to stay:)))

Yelp
I book a loft suite at this hotel on for Oct 31. I got the confirmation from this hotel. It is for my wife's birthday. So I want to make sure this reservation is safe. I sent the salesperson at this hotel - Sylvia Bielska. She even confirmed my reservation with me that the room has a balcony. Today, I sent one more email to make sure this room is reserved for me. I sent her email, called her at her office. She didn't pick up my call. Later, she said my reservation is cancelled without explain why. I already booked the room with my credit card. If the room is not reserved for me, i am okay. I can reserve other hotel - there are many many better hotel in williamsburg. Why didn't pick up my call to explain. Please do not go to this hotel.

Yelp
Hubby and I decided to stay for fun one weekend. The rooms were fine and simple, service curt and to the point. What I had issue with was the construction going on in the restaurant at area. The nauseous fumes from the work going on permeated the elevators and the gym. The hotel should at least invest in air purifiers for these areas for the health and safety of their guests. Working out was impossible because of this.

Yelp
One of the worst hotel experiences I've had, and I travel once a month. Didn't provide the basic services you pay for in a hotel: -The hot water and heat was shut off for a day (winter in New York) - The Wi-Fi doesn't work on phone or computer. Disconnects you almost once a minute - Construction during the day sounded like it was in my bathroom (I wish I could attach my videos. It's awful and went on for hours). I booked a suite to have space to work, but the noise persisted all day and made being in the space impossible - They finally gave me another room hours later and made no offer to relocate my items - Rudest staff who showed a demonstrable lack of concern about these issues I contacted customer care who *faxed* my concerns to the front desk staff. Rudest lady at checkout cut me off and said someone would have to contact me about it and she couldn't address my concerns. No call so far. I would love to know why guests were not given notice before arriving about the construction or heat/hot water shutoff, and what they consider the basic services. There are a lot of hotels in NYC; I won't be going back to this one.

Yelp
No cell service. Useless WiFi. It's 2019, how is this not figured out. I couldn't use my cell phone at all while on the premises. Something broke in the room, called the front desk for them to fix it, no one ever came to fix it. Water heater issues the first night. Soap was not refilled after going empty. Pool staff rushed people out 30 min before closing. Fairly clean room. Unfortunately no real closet space or much room for drawers. Bed was unusually firm. However comfortable. Would not come back. Mostly because of the cell service and WiFi issues.

Yelp
The location, right in the busy hipster heart of Williamsburg, can not be beat. You can walk to everything. Subway is right around the corner too. Also, a rarity in this town, there is a parking garage on site. The bed was very firm and I slept great. Pillows also very nice, fluffy and supportive. Oh, and I could open the window a bit! The lobby has a cute little coffee & cocktails kind of set-up, plenty of nice couches and newspapers to read. There's a beautiful courtyard to relax in when the weather is better. It was too cold for swimming, but I'll check out the pool next time. It took a few minutes on the phone with tech support to get the WiFi working. The shower was gorgeous but the hose/wand thing had very little pressure so I stuck with the overhead shower thing. I will be coming back for sure.

Yelp
Wifi doesn't work. No cell service. Had to physically leave the hotel to make a call. Breakfast options are slim. No lunch option even exists. One of two elevators is broken, but there's no sign that says it. The other elevator takes at least five to seven whole minutes before it arrives at your floor (not hyperbole.) Spent more time on the phone with tech support than I did ever getting any work done. And lastly, the room temperature changes wildly, from steaming hot to freezing, in the span of a few hours. It's 2019. None of this should be happening. Avoid this place.

Yelp
The front desk staff was lovely, and I was fully supported when I was having a tough day by them being wholly empathetic and lovely. The only reason why I gave a 4 star and not a 5 star was because my Keurig kept shorting; I am pretty low key and low maintenance, so if that meant plugging the unit in elsewhere to enjoy peppermint tea at bedtime, I'm totally cool! Lovely stay elsewise: Wifi worked on all my devices and the room was cozy and warm with nice bedding!

Yelp
This hotel was not worth the price. Rude staff that did not help us with the problem that they caused! Good location but that's it.

Yelp
I've never been scammed so badly by a hotel in my life. I didn't even know it was legal or possible for a hotel to scam a person this badly. Last year I booked a week stay here, in the online agreement it said if you end up changing your booking you will lose your "deposit" but nothing else. Corona hit and it wasn't safe to fly, my booking was weeks out, I thought ok I'll lose a hundred bucks which sucks but it's a pandemic so I have to do it. The lady on the phone explained to me that the word deposit is just a word to trick you into booking it and that you have to pay the entire week (thousands of dollars) that you didn't even stay at the hotel. Every cent just like you had stayed. I've never heard of anything like this at a hotel before. They took $2,000 from me when I didn't even go to NY and gave them weeks in advance and had the excuse of a global pandemic. If I could give them no stars I would. Absolute trash.

Yelp
The place is amazing!!! Amazing staff and super friendll! They just opened up and have some kinks since it's brand new but the environmentand the cube makes up for it.

Yelp
Do NOT book...they are currently scamming people to book reservations with them, yet their hotel is not even open / receiving guests right now. Save yourself the trouble and do not book with Hotel Indigo.

Yelp
BE CAREFUL: you will get charged more than once in varying amounts after check out. After they reversed an incorrect charge on one of my cards, I gave them a new card and they proceeded to DOUBLE charge me for my room after I checked out. I only caught it bc it was an incremental $1.4k charge. This is CRIMINAL. Upon refuting, I cannot get in touch with a manager and they are performing an 'investigation' that may take days. Unethical business practices and nonexistent hospitality. STAY AWAY.

J. H.

Yelp
Terrible WiFi Inconvenient pool hours - 10-7 - wanted to swim before or after work but pool not open Elevators super slow Rooms very odd - with "touch" lights that don't work, huge sticky spot in middle of room, dirty floors in hallway The two stars are for the staff who were friendly and did their best. Wouldn't stay again :(
