This Place is the Cat's Meow!
I stumbled into Hotel Tango in Fletcher Place and immediately felt like I'd found a hidden gem. The vibe is perfectly rustic and cozy, like your coolest friend's cabin, but with way better drinks. The whole place just wraps you in a warm, friendly hug the second you walk in.
Speaking of drinks, let's talk about the "Summer Camp Inspired" cocktails. What a blast! Each sip was a nostalgic trip back to bonfires and ghost stories, but with a delicious, grown-up boozy twist. The creativity is off the charts, and the staff are more than just friendly; they're genuinely helpful and seem to love what they do, which makes the experience even better.
As someone who deeply values safe and inclusive spaces, my heart soared when I saw the Pride rainbows. It’s a simple gesture that speaks volumes, letting you know this is a place where everyone is welcome. It's clear they care about their community. The history here is incredible, too. I learned that the name "Hotel Tango" comes from the owner's initials and that "Tango" is a nod to their history as a combat veteran. It's actually the first combat-veteran-owned distillery in the United States and was the first to open in Indiana after Prohibition, which adds a profound layer of honor and meaning to the whole establishment.
But the absolute, undisputed highlight of my visit? Meeting the four-legged legend, Freddie Purrcury. This charming feline is the real star of the show, sauntering around and accepting pets like the royalty he is. A distillery with a resident cat is my new favorite thing.
Hotel Tango isn't just a place to get a great cocktail; it's an experience. It's got heart, it's got history, and it's got a cat named Freddie. What more could you ask for? I'll be back, for sure!
