House of Fries

I got 1 combo meal, two chili dogs, AND a corn dog for about$15!!! I'm sold! I didn't expect the "house fries" to be home fries, which aren't my favorite, but these were a combination of crispy with some floppy fries. They were great for being home fries. The chili dogs were great and i can't confirm they were beef weiners, but they tasted similar to all beef weiners. When i go back, I'm definitely getting those again. The corn dog was not my favorite and was definitely made of a chicken, pork, beef blend weiner. I don't care for those types with both the texture and taste of the weiner, but the batter was fine and it was a hardy size for the couple of bucks you pay for it. Lastly the grilled cheese. That puppy had to have been packed with 4 slices of cheese!!! I was amazed. The flavor wasn't special and i think that's because they use oil instead of butter for the bread, but don't quote me on that. I was so appreciative of the kind FOH staff member(i don't remember his name), but he was patient with me and assisted me with saving a little money choosing my options. Although not all the food was great, I'll go back again and again and keep trying different things. I love this restaurant after my first visit.

I loved it. Ever since my goto (Rocky's Subs) shutdown, I've been searching for a good cheesesteak, this place is easily top 10. I had regular fries, but I would recommend getting them loaded. I wouldn't recommend the spicy ketchup though, might be someone else's thing, but I didn't care for it.

Holy cow was this place amazing! I got the chicken bacon fries, and the staff was able to make sure my food was gluten-free for me. The amount of food you get for the price is great. I don't live in the area, but 10/10 will recommend and be willing to drive just to eat here again. Don't sleep on this place!

Went here for lunch with some classmates and was NOT disappointed! Soooo delicious! The food was fresh and hot. The service was good and the food came out quickly. We were able to sit down, eat and get back to school on time. The portions are big and the prices are small. We're going back and bringing more of our classmates with us.

A burger, a large drink, and special fries for a little over 13 bucks? Give me 50! It was delicious 🤤 one of the better spots to get a good burger 🍔 and fries with a little extra 5/5 for sure

I ordered the turkey burger combo, the burger didn’t have much flavor. The house fries and dipping sauces were really good. The fountain drink had an aftertaste that I didn’t like, couldn’t finish it. The establishment could really use a good scrubbing and deep cleaning. It has an odd order upon entry, almost turned me away but due to the TikTok reviews, I really wanted to give them a try. All in all, I was very excited that they had a turkey protein option, I no longer eat beef or pork and really craved a burger so thanks for that!!!!!

This was my first visit. So I tried to walk-in but the chairs were up already so I went thru drive thru. The older man that helped me was great. Gave me a free cookie. The wait wasn’t too bad and drove back to my room to eat about 2miles away. Everything was still fresh. No soggy bun but a little dry to me. I think was just too much for the patty. The patty was good but packed like a frozen and needed a little more flavor for me. The toppings were good. I like it came with Mayo and not mustard but it needed it or more pickles. Fries delicious but I was looking for a fry seasoning of some kind. Overall it hit the spot and I’ll bring my kids to try next time we are in town.

Very homemade. I'm happy we stopped here and tried it. I'm not into fast food burgers and fries. This place tastes like my mom cooked. My husband and I will be back!

Ordered the nacho fries and it tasted like disappointment. Basically was like cheap nacho cheese on soggy fries and with premade pico. The cheese on the chili cheese dog was not even melted and the grilled chicken sandwich was overcooked. I can see the appeal of this place as it was reminiscent of a mom and pop ol' timey neighborhood restaurant but the food really missed the mark in every way.

Walk in to humbleness, the lady in the front was kind and attentive even in the midst of us walking in and drive thru orders. This was another fast food spot in the past, I believe. It reminds me of the movie Coming to America McDowell's restaurant. From the chairs and tables, even the music. My family and I ordered burgers and a Philly cheesesteak with a variety of fries from the battered seasoned, curly, and waffle all were tasty. We all left pretty stuffed and satisfied. If you're in the area and looking for a good burger, don't miss getting a bite here. We'll be back!

I always loved this place and how local and quiet it is! The food is made fresh everyday and they have a wide selection to choose from on the menu. I love the ABC Burger or the 8oz or even the 5oz burgers, whatever you get, the service is great! Be patient though, it is gonna be worth it! The prices are great too and portions are good! Come check it out!

Love this place. I've had a burger, a breakfast taco, and a BLT. All we're very good. Service is good and people there are friendly.

The best little hidden gem of its the most delicious comfort food! Me and my partner found this on a rainy day and I'm so glad we did! We both got phillys and the cashier helped us figure out what type of fries to try for the first time. I love that they have a drive through as well. It's the kind of spot that reminds you of home. Something you can't get anywhere else, great atmosphere.

When I think of going somewhere in Houston for a solid homemade burger this is where I think of. I can count on House of Fries to deliver to me a solid burger and good fries. Doesn't hurt that they have good sauces as well. I first went here years back trying places around my job and have been going back constantly ever since even now that I'm working from home. A funny story is that after having enjoyed it so much I was able to put a team of coworkers on to them. We needed a place to have food catered for a team meeting and when no one else could think of a place I suggested here. I was nervous if everyone would like it but they actually all loved it. The sad part of that story is that my order was the only one that was kind of messed up but it was still good and I was thankful everyone else enjoyed their food. After having only ever had their burgers I got the Philly cheese chicken sandwich. It was delicious but they got my fry order wrong. ‍ I started out with ordering the Mushroom and Swiss burger but now I usually get a Bigger Better Double Cheeseburger (not sure if it's listed on the menu that way but that's what I get lol and I usually have to add a second slice of cheese because they will give me just one). For fries I get the curly fries which are seasoned curly fries and have never let me down. I really like that spicy ketchup, which you can see the red peppers in, and their honey mustard. I always get both sauces anytime I order. You can do a bottle drink instead of a fountain drink when you order a combo and since I tried to avoid soda I usually get one of their apple juices. They've had a few times of messing up my order but for me it's a place that has been good enough times to where a few times messing up doesn't deter me but after a couple back-to-back it almost had lol. I've only eaten inside like once but it was cool. The people are always friendly when I go. Most recently I was even told that it was free cookie day when I didn't realize it and was told I can get a free cookie the next time because they had ran out. She didn't have to do that, especially since they ran out but I appreciate it. Anytime I want just a really good burger without all the extra fuss of gourmet toppings, oh and at a more than reasonable price,I know I'm going!

I love house of fries. There burgers are really good. Philly cheesesteak's are great as well a little greasy but the flavor and seasoning is perfect. The food is not overly priced. The inside is pretty clean and the cashiers were nice.

Excellent service. Very good prices$! I ordered a shake as well. It took longer then my meal. I expect when they said homemade it was just that. It's a deep dish fully loaded so you will definitely be full. Will go back soon.

Went for lunch today and ordered through the drive thru. It was fast friendly service and very yummy. I had a cheese burger and curly fries. The burger was cooked perfectly with a toasted bun. There was a large amount of fries and you get to pick a dipping sauce! I had the spicy mayo. The combo came with a drink and cookie too. This is now one of my favorite lunch spots for a delicious burger and or loaded fries.

Food is great. Hamburgers, hot dogs and all types of loaded fries. Service is friendly. We have been coming by for years and and will continue to do so. Thanks House of Fries for the great food experience!

To be fair, I didn't have a hamburger, which I think is their best item. I had hotdogs and cheese fries. The hotdogs were very basic, I don't know if they were beef or not, they didn't have a lot of flavor and were small. The fries themselves were delicious, but the cheese poured over them was like like imitation Velveeta. Not as creamy, not as flavorful, kind of cheap, canned cheese tasting. It had a really shiny, weird sheen to it. I think I'll go back and try the hamburgers because they look pretty good, but the hotdogs were nothing to talk about. Also, my bill was eight dollars and I gave a dollar tip and they acted like I did something offensive. I literally drove through the drive-through to get my food. I don't normally even tip at drive-through, but I was being nice. Next time I won't do that.

Cute place! We grabbed takeout. I would recommend their burgers before the cheesesteak, but to their credit; everything was fantastic! Service was quick and helpful! Big recommendation for an easy and cheap bite to eat!

Happened to be looking for tacos, however I saw this gem . To my surprise they served a variety of tacos as well .. however when I see a Philly, I MUST try it. Everything tasted amazing, 10/10. Friendly staff, drive thru moved quickly and my Philly cheesesteak and breakfast taco were top notch! Cooked to perfection with much taste. I'll be returning soon!

The best way to describe House of Fries is old fashioned goodness. Tasty burgers and fries with lots of variety in addition to breakfast. Add to that friendly service and 70's-80's background music in a comfortable setting. They live up to one of their signs on the wall: "Happiness is Homemade."

Great food and great customer service. Everything from burgers, chicken and Philly is a home run. Their cake is also great and super moist. We personally love the traditional Philly, it's seasoned well and the bread holds together.

Been here a few times now. Best loaded fry place in town! They do good burgers as well but I just can't pass up the fries. They used to only be open for breakfast and lunch, but now you can drive thru till 7pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Friendly staff and the owners are really nice as well. I admit it, I am addicted to their burgers. After reading some rave reviews on Nextdoordotcom so I gave it a try. I am not a loaded fries kinda guy but they have three types of fries (standard, curly and waffle) and they are really good with their sweet/spicy Cajun ketchup. I also had my first meat-lovers breakfast burrito the other day and it was great. Super-friendly service. I gotta say, my Whataburger attendance has suffered severely because of House of Fries' reasonably prices and utterly awesome burgers! Bravo!

Greasy, messy, anti diet, pro gordo. Been told this is the spot for a good burger, not for the first time either. Everyone has a opinions on burger, few knows wth they are talking about. Well the boys and girls at sassafras is spot on, this is a fantastic burger. Plenty of choices for toppings like an egg, which shitty burger joints dont offer. Greasy hands and maybe dry cleaning needed, also comes free with the meal. All my co-workers likes it, and they are all food snobs with Gordon Ramsay tattoos. Advice to owners: have more hot sauce selection like siracha ;)

Food is good, the atmosphere is practically non-existent, the price is cheap, the service is friendly, and reasonably expedient. I recommend this place as a good no frills lunch spot.

The workers here are always so nice and the breakfast burrito is almost the size of a forearm lol I love how quick and easy it is to order from here. This is my go to breakfast spot unless I have somewhere to go before 830 am.

I was so happy coming here. Had the ABC burger with everything on it. I was soooo good, you really can't go wrong with that choice. Though I wish I would've added a sunny side up egg. Now those brisket fries are another story! Top notch for sure. I wish my stomach could take all that cheese lol but the brisket had the perfect sweet & savory flavor.

Loved the food. Service was great even when they had a ton of customers they time management was perfect. The environment was very positive.

Now I get to see what all the commotion is about with my fellow Yelp reviewers. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with curly fries and a DP. The drive thru lady very graciously gave me and my dad a chocolate chip cookie each with our combos. Solid food and service across the board. I would put that burger up against most burger places in the area. I will be back.

Service isn't quick--I've waited 20+ minutes after ordering before--but I've enjoyed my food each time! Really enjoy the Buffalo chicken tenders over fries.

To find this place when I wasn't in the mood for a burger was finding a true gem! The menu had Me in the mood to everything but if I wanted to fit in my favorite pair of pants I chose to settle for the black bean burger combo. It was and the young lady at the counter was very wholesome. This place is far better than any chain burger joint! Do not let the appearance scare you away ok.

The outside doesn't look like anything special, but it is a nice clean place. My cheeseburger was a little overcooked for my liking, but was still tasty. The Philly cheese fries were excellent! I would eat them one a week if I could. The service was great. Everyone was friendly and they had my to go order to me quite fast. I'll definitely be back again.

Just glad this place is not too close to my house or I would be the size of my house in no time! This is a great burger-and-fry shack. The menu selection covers everything from breakfast on through dinner, the food is reasonably priced, the quality of the food is fantastic, and the service is friendly, helpful and efficient! I have had very consistent experiences here. Although they have a small inside seating area, I have only used the drive through and gone inside once to pick up my order to go. My orders were perfect each time I have been...nothing left out and our orders came out just as requested. The burgers here are tasty and moist and the veggies and condiments fresh and plentiful. The burgers come in various sizes to accommodate any hunger level! They have a great choice of dips for your fries ( I like the Cajun Ketchup) and multiple types of fries to choose from, as well as, many choices of toppings to smother them with. The breakfast items are delicious as well. The eggs were fresh and large and cooked to perfection, as ordered. The country potatoes were well seasoned and tasty. The only minor disappointment was the sausage patty which was cooked well, but was a little bland tasting. The breakfast burrito was huge and delicious, according to my husband. Overall great experiences each time we have been...even during the Covid disruptions which they handle effectively and without complaint! Keep up the great work HOF! I'll drive out of my way any day for the good food, fair pricing and the conscientious, friendly service!

First time visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife got the Philly Cheesesteak Loaded Fries and I opted for the Beef Fajita Loaded Fries -- both with their seasoned fries as the base. They really knocked it out of the park. The only "complaint" would be the amount of meat on the Philly fries -- the meat and flavor so good, we both wanted more! Regardless, it was more than sufficient, and we both left fully satisfied. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and it was a great sign to see so much foot traffic and so many people from the area coming in for dine-in as well as to-go. This is obviously a spot regulars come to. Most folks seemed to be ordering burgers, and they looked super delicious as well -- and that's what we'll be getting on our next visit!

Wow. Philly cheese steak is delicious meat is so tender to chew and onions and peppers are well caramelized, the chipotle mayo sauce is good my son likes the ABC burger. We get our food hot all the time. My husband loves that on Friday's if you buy the combo you get a free cookie and it's so chewy.

The Buffalo Chicken fries were different than others I've had elsewhere, because theirs includes nacho cheese. They do NOT skimp on the cheese, it was almost too much of a good thing. I would recommend getting the battered fries. Overall i was very satisfied with it. I also tasted the burger but that was just pretty good.

Freak yeah! My first BOTM. I know, I can't believe it myself. Took me long enough, eh? Thanks Olivia for organizing this. It was a fun bunch & I got to meet a couple of Yelpers. O had our table set up so after slapping on my name tag, I went to the counter to order. And, I admit, I knew what I wanted. The chili-cheeseburger with onion rings. I grabbed a drink & went back to the table to wait for my food & chat. The burger came out a few minutes later & my it looked so freaking good! Just the right amount of chili, not too much to turn the burger messy, I was able to pick this baby up & dig in. The meat was char-y on the ends (which I love) with plenty of cheesy goodness. I loved, loved this burger. The onion rings were really crispy & the onion was cooked perfectly. You could actually bite through the onion ring without a mushy, super hot onion wrapping itself around your chin. I did get an order to go for H with a strawberry milkshake. I tried some of the milkshake & it turned out to be quite tasty (I'm not a fan of strawberry milkshakes). I did manage to drink only about a quarter of it on the way home. Fun time! Can't wait for the next BOTM.

First I'm going to say Thanks Olivia for bringing back the BOTM! Mike did a great job hosting these and I know you will too! I missed eating burgers! My husband and daughter attended the BOTM with me. My daughter is all about fries. She LOVES fries. House of fries. I was thinking the fries would be great. Unfortunately, they were not. Frozen fries with seasoning. My daughter got chicken tenders w/house fries. She said the chicken was "real" chicken and was decent. The fries were not good by any means. (Greasy and limp)I tried one. She did like the sriracha mayo dipping sauce. My husband and I both had the ABC burger. (Bacon & cheese burger) We shared a basket of seasoned fries. My burger patty was half of the size of the bun. My husband's burger patty was a little bigger. There was nothing great or wonderful about our whole meal. Very average. The company, Steve D, his wife Patty and Mike M was great. It is great to see some of the regular BOTM yelpers. Hopefully we will be able to talk to more yelpers at the next BOTM. I'm looking forward to the next one already. Five stars for the event; 2 stars for the food.

The service we received today could've overridden any taste of food we received. However, the food was just as delightful as the service. My husband loved the Buffalo chicken loaded fries and he's a huge foodie! You can't beat the amount of food you receive for the price. We split a burger combo and opted for the bigger better cheeseburger. It was delicious as well. Patty was slightly under seasoned, but that was an easy fix on my end. It was free cookie Friday, so we also got free cookies and they were delish! They were so pleasant and didn't rush us to order. It was our first time, so we asked lots of questions. They were also very accommodating to my small children, which was a huge plus for a family of 5. We dined in and the facilities were also very clean. We Will be back as there were so many things on the menu we wanted to try! Thanks House of Fries for an incredible afternoon lunch! *The food didn't last long enough to get a picture

It's your regular schmegular "I can make all this at home" but you didn't so you came here kind of joint. The employees are super friendly and food comes out pretty fast. Portions are huge! And the prices aren't bad either. The place looks pretty clean but the tables were extra sticky.

This burger was good! Nothing exceptional, it was just a standard burger. It was well cooked and flavorful though, and the fries were great as well. On Fridays you get a free cookie with a combo meal and the cookies are delicious! I'll probably come here again.

They got me with their name. Fries are my weakness so there's not a lot that sounds better than house of fries. I had them on my radar for quite a while and finally checked them out on a weekday afternoon for lunch when I had the day off of work. Located in The Heights in not the best of neighborhoods, make sure you make it early enough at they close at 6 p.m. House of Fries is a casual spot. Looks like a fast food joint would. We got takeout during COVID times. I went with a grilled cheese on wheat and their baked potato fries. I hadn't had a grilled cheese in way too long so I was overdue. The food was ready right after we arrived so the grilled cheese was full of melty gooiness. A cold grilled cheese is no grilled cheese at all. The baked potato fries were just as you would imagine. Take loaded baked potato toppings and throw them on fries. Bacon, cheese, green onions, and a side of sour cream. House of Fries is indeed the house of fries. They have eight or so specialty loaded fries. They also have several different types of fries including house fries, Cajun fries, tator tots, and one or two others I'm forgetting. Good stuff. House of Fries has affordable prices for the quality of the food you get. It's no frills but it's good. I'm planning to try one of their burgers next go-around. Added bonus: Yelp check-in offer!

I came in during burger binge week through Yelp and I'm so excited to go back! First off, their building reminds me of a retro McDonald's, which I dig. They also have cool murals outside that would make any Influencer's day. Or just anyone who wants to flex for the gram. ‍ BURGERS! I came with my vegetarian sister and this was the location that offered $5 buck vegetarian burgers-so for that, you have my heart. Sister had a black bean burger that was delicious. I can't say much there because I am definitely pro-meat and I got a fattt burger with a oozing egg on top please, PLEASE GO GET IT NOW. I just- I can't even describe. It was just- SO GOOD. Like, this is my favorite burger, good? Wow. But FYI it did also have thin pink line (which I'm totally down with) that I did not ask for or was aware that they would make it that way. However, the burger came out soooo juicy, the egg was a perfect addition and their sauce is what complemented it all together. Go go go!

What a great find. Close to home plus great quality burgers and fries. Service people were very kind and helpful. Wanna try the cheesesteak on my next visit.
