Classic diner serving comfort food, great cocktails, and fun vibes

"Located upstate and opened in June as a partnership between Brent Young and Mel the Bakery, this diner is one of Young’s six business ventures. It’s referenced as part of the same small empire that includes butcher shops and Cozy Royale, positioning Hudson Diner as another example of his tendency to create distinctive, collaborative food projects beyond the city." - Melissa McCart
"When word spread that the Mel the Bakery and The Meat Hook people were taking over the old Hudson Diner space on Warren Street, a certain sect of high-speed-wifi-connected mountain people (or city people temporarily or permanently shacking up in said mountains) lost their minds. The diner car has indeed been spruced up, transmitting shiny, “remember the good old days of eggs?” Americana. Don’t get too attached to those eggs, though, seeing as Hudson Diner is dinner-only. The focus instead is on patty melts and their appetizer-and-salad peers. The savory stuff is more perfect in concept than execution. But the bartenders are friendly and the drinks will fix your frown, whether that’s a $13 cosmo you’re sipping, or the run-off from a Neapolitan ice cream sundae. "A Warren Street staple from 2011 to 2024, this farm-to-table diner was run by a family that also operated a nearby farm which supplied its meats; after the recent death of one owner the family sold both the farm and the diner, ending a decade-long run at the location." - Melissa McCart

"I note that Hudson Diner is one of two nearby diners that has closed in the last few months." - Stefanie Tuder

"I read that the West Village’s 23-year-old Hudson Diner is the latest diner to shutter in the city." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
