Hudson Yards Grill Review - Hudson Yards - New York - The Infatuation

"Hudson Yards Grill feels like a more expensive, weirder version of a mall restaurant from the mid-’90s, and whether that’s intentional or not, we’re not quite sure. The menu is broad but not that interesting, ranging from pizza and burgers to some sushi bar options that feel like they got lost and wandered in after a day of shopping at Fendi, Coach, and the fancy scooter store. Plus, the dining room has no windows, so you don’t even benefit from a view." - Emma Greenberg

Hudson Yards Restaurant Guide: David Chang, Thomas Keller, Jose Andres, and More - Eater NY

"Casual American dining from chef Michael Lomanaco: The TV personality and chef behind more than decade-old Time Warner Center steakhouse Porter House Bar and Grill will be opening his second New York restaurant here, a collaboration with Boston’s Himmel Hospitality Group. The sprawling, 265-seat restaurant with an open kitchen and big bar will be called Hudson Yards Grill and will likely be the place where big groups go to get a little something for everybody." - Serena Dai

Steak frites was cooked perfectly, came with a side of fries or mashed potatoes. My mom wanted to eat the grilled veggies but she also wanted salmon, so we asked to add salmon to her order and they gladly obliged. The fried calamari is arguably the best starter. All of the food tasted super flavorful. I went two times and the service was impeccable. They were so kind and patient. Asked about food allergies at the table which I always love. All in all, this was an amazing experience.

Google
This place located in the mall 4Fl, very convenient and easy to make a reservation. We dined yesterday and had several dishes. The other reviews were right, everything was on average. Nothing special but high price. Calamari was $20, Rib-eye steak was over $50. Shrimp and basil pasta was lack of flavor that i had to put more salt to eat. with no side dishes. Each wine glasses were over $14. Also the interior was nice but nothing impressive. I might go somewhere else.

Google
Absolutely perfect. Food is delicious. Beautiful and romantic place. Not too crowded. Ambience is amazing. The host is very professional and attentive. Other staff were also friendly and helpful. Price is reasonable. Worth it. Love the ribs and the steaks.

Absolutely perfect! The service was excellent. Barbara the hostess greeted us with a smile and kindness. Our server was very attentive. Our food came out quick and prepared perfectly. Everything was so good!

Google
It was a nice place, great atmosphere minus the gaggle of kids next to us, tis the season lol. The food was great also. I love that they start you off with either Aqua Panna or San pellegrino while you look over the menu because water should be a given and not requested, in my opinion. I loved the pumpkin spice margaritas. The beet salad with goat cheese was delicious. I loved how they added this lightly fried onion on top for a crunch, perfect. The deviled eggs were good. I had the rotisserie chicken with asparagus, mushrooms, and a green sauce, delicious. The key lime pie was everything it needed to be and more for me.

Google
We had the chicken sandwich it was just ok. The soup of the day was delicious. The devil eggs also very good. Service is very good. Wonderful place to hang out. Lots to see and pick from.

Google
Surprisingly really good food and with restaurant week's prefixe menu it's a decent price for an app and main course or a dessert. Salmon was cooked well and the service was attentive, kind, and I informative. It's clean place and has an attractive ambiance. It's not too loud and feels like you are only with your party and able to hear conversation without any issues.

Google
Service was great and atmosphere was lovely. Appetizers were okay. Bacon was good. Peppers were unevenly cooked and needed salt. Pasta was good, not memorable. Steak frites was tough. Subbed potatoes for fries snd unfortunately they were cold but very creamy.

Yelp
One star based on my last visit here. I used to come often for the chopped kale salad but they have since got rid of it. The food is average at best - akin to a fancier version of Applebee's - the prices are outrageous for what you are getting, even after accounting for the HY location - but it is really the terrible service that warrants the one star. It's one thing to be expensive but if you're going to be expensive, at least have good food and/or good customer service. This place has neither. We arrived 15 min early for our reservation. They refused to seat us and made us wait 15 min even though about 1/4 of the restaurant was completely empty if not more - there were plenty of clean tables available - I counted at least 10. When we were finally seated, we asked if we could sub out the fries that came with the burger for onion rings. Nope, they said. We said we would be fine paying an up charge for it but they said it just wasn't possible. That's bizarre esp given we are paying $30 for the burger. I ordered a salad with salmon. They said they were out of salmon so I got the steak add-on option, medium rare. It took about 20-30 min for the food to arrive and not once did the waitress check up on us, remove the empty glasses from our table, or offer any bread. When we finally got our food, dropped off by some other waiter, my steak was very clearly medium well at best. I kept waiting for the waitress to return so I could ask her to fix it but she never came back. Literally 40 min went by and we had finished our meals (except the steak) and she still never came. She came by a few times to the table near us but ran away immediately after and ignored us despite our attempts to flag her down. We eventually flagged her down just to bring us the check so we could get out of this terrible place, which she begrudgingly did but just dropped it off and ran away again without even asking how our meal was. And no, it was not a busy night that seemed understaffed. This experience was borderline offensive. I hope they do something to better the customer service here (and bring back the chopped kale salad). Otherwise, I am not sure why I would ever come back here. Unless they do something to fix this, I will tell all of my coworkers this as well (we work right by this restaurant and frequently do business lunches and parties at restaurants in this area).

Yelp
Hudson Yards grill conveniently placed just a few hundred yards away from the megabus bus stop via the Hudson Yards Mall, located on the 4th floor Hudson Yards grill is a cute yet classy establishment. I had found them while In pursuit of Real Housewives Of BeverlyHills Kathy Hiltons new investment projects website Casa Del Sol Tequila, dot com! HYG was listed as a vendor so i called ahead to confirm they had it and they did, they had the reposado which I ordered neat with a side of rocks, and it was delicious. Only thing I wasn't crazy on was the price but maybe I shouldve got a shot instead of a neat drink so probably my fault ($28) or maybe thats due to location and establishment either great drink! and chic spot

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Hudson Yards Grill while perusing through the shops. The menu looked promising, so we decided to grab lunch here. Our server was amazing. She was so personable and friendly. I appreciated her honest opinions on what to get off the menu. We got the calamari to start. Our server highly recommended it, and she even went as far as claiming it to be one of the best calamari apps she's ever had. I can totally vouch for her comment, because the calamari was that good. I liked that the squid was tender and not rubbery. It had a light batter and was seasoned well. The pepper aioli complimented the calamari. We got the French Dip Roast Beef to share. I want to make it clear that our server did not recommend this dish since she never tried it. I'm a huge fan of French Dip sandwiches, so I figured that you can't mess this one up. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the taste. The roast beef was very bland, therefore the au jus could've used more salt too. I didn't care much for the side of fries either.

Yelp
We had a group of 4 and we were able to walk in and be sat in about 20 minutes. We shared 4 appetizers and we had meat eaters to a vegan and everyone was able to find something. The espresso martini was delicious and I the chocolate martini was just ok. The Tuna Tare Tare was a little much in the cannoli and I wish it was just the tuna.

Yelp
I enjoyed Hudson Yards Grill! I got the rotisserie chicken and it was very flavorful and tender. I also thoroughly enjoyed the fries and brussel sprouts! Possibly even more than the chicken. I also got a cucumber cocktail that was very refreshing. I will have to stay that one of my favorite parts was that the walk to the bathroom had a really nice view of the city.

Yelp
A group of coworkers and I jumped on the ferry from NJ to come see what all the hype was about around Hudson Yards. We made reservations for 7, however they did not have a way to accommodate us all at the same table as there are only booths 4-6 person booths available. The ambiance was nice and it was fairly quiet, which we enjoyed because we could actually engage in convo without screaming. Let's talk about the food... we started off with calamari, oysters, and bacon. The calamari was ok, nothing special -- pretty bland and flavorless. The oysters were small but tasty. The highlight was the bacon! It's a MUST! It was smoky, salty, and sweet. Hands down some of the best bacon I've had in a long time. For entrees, 3 of us ordered the filet mignon and OMG, it was melt-into-mouth goodness! All 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our cuts and are every last bit of it. Our appetizers were good, but again, nothing special. Dessert -- You HAVE TO TRY the coconut cake. It was delicious and the almond crumble was something I could snack on all day! My coworkers enjoyed the key lime pie (which was made with lime shavings and was super flavorful) and the chocolate flourless tarts which was to die for! Overall, there was nothing that touched the table that wasn't yummy! I would definitely return to this restaurant!

Yelp
Great atmosphere for an 8pm Friday night reservation. I was brought here for the very first time yesterday for my birthday. The waitress definitely had a long day and didn't seem very warm, which is the reason for my deducted star. The food was great and cooked well, however I would have liked to see more of the potatoes. Overall I would definitely revisit and hope for a 5 star experience.

Yelp
I needed to set up a lunch date w an out-of-town cousin who wanted vegetarian or "simple food." Had to be near Moynihan Station. Yelping around, I found several places that we could eat at, and sent her links to see the menus. Her choices were this or the Tick Tock Diner. I chose Hudson Yards for the quieter ambiance, as we haven't seen each other in about 4 years and we wanted to catch up. This restaurant was definitely quiet and spacious, clean restrooms, tourist-priced entrees but more or less going rate on the salads, and that was fine for lunch! She had their Grains and Greens bowl, with quinoa, chickpeas, and veggies. I had their Roasted Beets and Arugula salad, supposedly with spinach, arugula, and romaine. Probably 90% or more romaine but nice and crunchy, with plenty of little beet chunks, some creamy delicious goat cheese, and topped with some crunchy shallots. Tasty balsamic dressing, just a bit too much but the salad wasn't drowned by any means. My cousin asked for some bread. The server was accommodating and quickly sent over a plate on which there were two (I didn't want it but it was the right thing to do) rectangular rolls. White bread, not my thing, but she ate one just to help her stay full on her upcoming train travel. They have a nice little interesting cocktail menu but we opted not to have drinks, just some nice, cold tap water and we asked for a glass of ice. Service was pleasant and not at all rushed. I'd made a reservation but we arrived at least 10-12 minutes earlier and they weren't at all crowded; we were greeted and seated right away. Overall, it was fine, but nothing special. You could do much worse, and I doubt if the salads cost a whole lot more than the diner would have cost, with a much more upscale atmosphere.

Yelp
Wouldn't come back. The majority of the food was cold. They took two of the items off the bill. Both my mom and I got sick from the food. The dessert was presented beautifully. The bus man wore a dirty white kitchen coat, which was unappealing. They were out of some of the alcohol we wanted. There were plenty of empty seats but they sat us right next to a loud party. They timed the courses terribly. Bringing out the entree a few minutes after the starter. Everything we all ate was covered in pepper. The majority of the food was cold. We had to send back some of the food. A couple next to us also sent back their food. Would not come back at all.

Yelp
Hudson Yards Grill is a new restaurant in Hudson Yards in the old Momofuku Kwai space. While not particularly exciting, it is a really solid New American restaurant by Michael Lamonica. Always good, always consistent. The bar is a great spot for a drink or a quick meal.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Stopped by for weekend brunch with my girlfriend. She ordered off the RW menu (the fried oysters, quinoa risotto and an apple strudel) and I ordered a steak salad with coffee. I didn't try the fried oysters or the risotto but my steak salad was bomb dot com. It was so simple and fresh that I was surprised at how much I can enjoy a salad. The steak was perfectly medium rare and marinaded to perfection. I usually get steak salads from Wollensky but I can confidently say that Hudson Grill is a great/if not better alternative. My friends apple strudel came with a side of ice cream which tasted like cinnamon and it was drizzled with something similar to a butterscotch sauce. Seriously... I love anything cinnamon flavored and it was my first time having cinnamon flavored ice cream. Mind blown! Very delicious! There's a lot of reviews about this place being overpriced but I would dine here again in a heartbeat. My steak salad was roughly $30 and I don't think it was overpriced because it was delicious. It's a bit more expensive than Wollensky but I don't mind paying a bit more for quality food. Service: 5/5 I see a lot of bad reviews regarding service and I don't understand it. Our waiter was super nice and accommodating. Our waters and my coffee never went empty. He was great! Ambiance: 4/5 Very nice and dimly lit interior. Beautiful, modern and posh. Great restaurant for a romantic date.

Yelp
First time here since watching Chef Lomanaco cooking online during COVID. One of the few spots I hadn't tried in Hudson yards and they recently reopened.. Much to love here from banquette seating go incredible food though with a few misteps. &!It's on the pricey side. Ate: House-made Parker house rolls Manhattan clam chowder Chopped kale with poppy dressing Swordfish basil pesto Prime rib minus the horseradish cream( read on) South Carolina coconut cake The waiter here acted hurried throughout service which was irritating. I had to ask for the bread also irritating. The chowder was outstanding! The salad with chopped almonds one of the most imaginative and best salads in recent memory and vegan no less. Swordfish delicious but now it gets weird. They ran out of horseradish cream! That should have been communicated at ordering. Also, while the meat was perfectly cooked and delicious- it was not prime rib??????? Weird!!! The cake was divine. I would definitely eat here again with caveats.

Yelp
I arrived here meeting some colleagues for an early dinner and they explained service had been shaky (ie not being paid attention to for over 20 mins). They ordered the salmon and said it was decent but not great. I ordered the vegetarian bolognese pasta, it came way too hot and had a difficult consistency but was tasty. The place was pretty empty and no one seemed particularly interested in their chosen dining spot nor did the staff seem to want to be there. Overall, I don't believe I'd return especially with all the other options in the building. This spot seemed like an upscale choice to a lot of the fast food but we all agreed for price and experience fast food would've been a better pick.

Yelp
Came here during lunchtime and decided to grab a quick bite at the bar which has their own separate menu from the main seating area. Ordered the double cheeseburger and a side of fries. The burger itself was actually pretty tasty and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Fries were like any other fries so I had a hard time justifying the $10 price tag on something so simple. Burger costs $14 which I had no problem with since it also came with chips and a pickle. Overall you can easily rack up a lunch bill over 30 bones just for burger and fries. Of course this was anticipated since this isn't some Burger King or McDonalds. Venue is beautiful and spacious. Very modern chill vibe at this restaurant/bar. Servers were attentive so no complaints on my end.

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch. The place was pretty much empty, which was a refreshing change. Enjoyed fried oysters and the burger here. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, and recommended drinks for us. Food was very good - enjoyed everything we ordered! A little on the pricey side, but hey, its NYC!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was great, food was solid. Came here for a quick lunch, the service here was really good. Servers were so attentive! The food was standard - came with bread service and then I ordered a ceasar salad with chicken. Salad was pretty much as expected, ingredients were relatively fresh and the chicken was done well, I liked the seasoning. Portion size was good too. Was full after the meal, good casual lunch spot.

Yelp
I came here to meet people that had already eaten and was just in for dessert, so that is my caveat. Now that we have that out of the way, I came here for dessert just before the dinner rush the other day. The host and staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I had the flourless chocolate cake. It was decadent and delicious. The desserts are not huge, but the portions are a bit on the generous side, so they are probably better to share, especially after a meal. The space has a dark wood, dimly lit scene that reminds me of Houston's / Hillstone's, with old school jazz music playing. Upscale, but not fussy.

Yelp
Nice bar/restaurant! Had a fun time with our friends. The bar and s a sports bar with TVs for sports games.... We started off with the frog and tartare. Then progressed to the entree of steak, salmon and chicken. It was all tasty and cooked to perfection. There was a nice view of the Empire State Building from the restroom corridor. Definitely worth coming back again!!
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
They just re-opened from COVID and I totally encourage supporting them in that. But, beware of Hudson Yards pricing... the relatively small bowl of vegetarian penne and a Diet Coke was like $30 for lunch, tax and tip included. The food was alright, but definitely nothing special. I'd say my dish was bordering on bland but not aggressively so. The service was amazing, with the bartender being very attentive and even made an Arnold Palmer in a proper cocktail shaker. So I'm spilling the difference between 2/5 food and 5/5 service (for the price) with a 4/5, but with an extra bonus for the fact that they'd opened like 2 days prior for COVID.

Yelp
By far the worst lunch I've had in NYC. Not sure how you can mess up a burger but they did Fries were cold Waiter had the most unenthusiastic attitude I can't believe this place stays open in Hudson Yards as I left there after a $50 lunch And was so disappointed. I waited and waited and waited more. My burger came out with onion jam that I asked for it to be removed- and food was cold. Even if the food is bad if the service is great but the service was zero stars

Yelp
Talk about the decor of this place. Really romantic and dimmed lighted perfect for date night. I can here with a girlfriend for drinks & dinner. Got seated right away as I come in it was a elegant fancy vibe. Open kitchen in the back and love the decor. The hostess took us to our seats, got us our menus and Got greeted by our server AMANDA which was super attentive, sweet and personable. She recommended me few items which we were thinking of. -PARKER ROLLS (a must! We ordered 2 orders which came with 5 pieces. These buttery savory soft rolls buns) Big S/O to Amanda for recommending us these rolls! Was so addictive ! -oysters with which was delicious but I was still thinking about the Parker rolls - the lobster roll w/caviar -pork belly which was crispy and fatty, cooked to goodness but needed a sauce Main entree we ordered; -rib eye and the dry aged medium rare which was lovely! So juicy and grilled to perfection, you even taste the charred Amanda also recommended us the charred cauliflower which was freakin BOMB DOT COM! Thanks girl! And Amanda recommended us the coconut cake which is so lovely! Omg I need some ! Yum yum yum yummy ! Definitely coming back and then going shopping and visiting the vessel! In the summer they have Thursday Wells Fargo's SummerTime Jams; free concert! Woot woot

Yelp
I tried Hudson Yards Grill yesterday for Restaurant Week dinner, and I am so glad I tried this new restaurant! The decor was warm and modern, and I loved the view of the city on the way to the restroom. Everything that I had across the board was phenomenal to say the least! I dined with my mother, who suggested that we try it, and I am so glad that we did. For starters, I had the fried oysters, while she had the Caesar salad. Those fried oysters with cajun remoulade and grilled lemon were perfectly cooked, not greasy at all, and had wonderful flavor. My mom's Caesar salad was tasty and we were informed that the salad dressing was in fact Julia Childs recipe that was bequeathed to executive chef Michael Lomonaco. The main dish that I had were the petite filet mignon with truffle mashed potatoes and market vegetables. The steak was tender and was served with a roasted garlic butter which was magical. The mashed potatoes alone were worth a trip back, while the string beans were perfectly cooked and had the exact amount of crispness that I prefer. My mom's salmon accompanied by potatoes in mustard sauce were delicious and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Lastly, came the dessert. Both of our desserts were highlights! I had the flour-less chocolate cake which was served warm and was the perfect portion. My mom's South Carolina coconut cake was out of this world! She couldn't stop raving about it, particularly the toasted coconut that was dusted on top of the cake. I enjoyed both desserts, but for coconut lovers, that cake is practically award winning! The coffee that she ordered to accompany the desserts was some of the best that she has had and she is a total coffee lover! I highly recommend trying this restaurant as I can assure you that it won't disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, plus our server, Diana, was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive and it made for an overall memorable and pleasant experience. I look forward to returning again one day soon!

Yelp
Stopped in here for a quick lunch when at the mall. I was by myself and sat at the bar. Servers were good and attentive. Food was good but only ordered a salad, fries, and the deviled eggs. But it was all delicious, loved the eggs. And a plus The mall Is beautiful at the holidays!

Yelp
Take a break. And why not take a fancy (fine dining) break? We have jump from one food place in the Hudson Yards to another checking what's on their menu. And we ended up in this grill. We went to a family style late lunch that includes a house salad, kid's grilled flatbread cheese pizza, buttermilk fried chicken, pasta with shrimp & basil and the vanilla ice cream that comes with the kid's. All of the food seems to be good. My daughter, I and my wife liked the texture and taste of the grilled flatbread pizza. The salad taste good as well but more of your typical salad you get in other "authentic" italian restaurant. The fried chicken seems to be salty for my taste and good thing it comes with a coleslaw and some veggies on the side to tone down its saltiness. The pasta is good as well and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. I did asked the waiter to bring some cheese to compliment the pasta. Ambiance is really nice. The low lighting, big beautiful wall arts, comfortable seats and tables, and kudos to the well-dressed, well-mannered ushers/usherettes, very attentive and courteous waiters and waitresses and the chefs, cooks abd staffs behind the scene. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to visit this place again.

Yelp
The smoked ribs were very tender. Buffalo wings were a bit salty but still good. There's outdoor dining available at the outside bar and tables in the back. Staff is usually friendly here. Pre-covid they would get very busy.

Yelp
Worst food We've eaten in NYC in Years! Salomon had a strong fish smell in a terrible sauce. The burger meat was poor quality, bun was cold and messy from the toppings. Crowd was a mix of business people with laptop bags and tourists. It felt like an airport restaurant with bad food and annoying travelers with bags and depressing staff. There was the occasional fake office party cheer for happy hour. I suppose they didn't eat but just wisely had drinks. One of the hosts kept walking around the tables non-stop dressed in a bad mood and annoying looking hat. As I write this, I empathize with his mood. The bus boys nearly ran me down on the way to the bathroom. Our waitress just took our order and our payment at the end. Someone else from the kitchen brought our food with an odd behavior. Our waitress never checked on us nor asked if our meal was enjoyable. We just paid and left quickly never to return again.

Yelp
Well, I thought this is overpriced tourist restaurant at the beginning! But it is very reasonable price with beautiful decor restaurant! The food is pretty good and the service is good too! I will bring my family here next time! Definitely will recommend this restaurant for anyone!

Yelp
It's become a tradition for my job to host our company dinners here. The service and food are impeccable. A little expensive however you pay for what you get here.

Yelp
We came to Hudson Yards Grill for restaurant week dinner with a bunch of friends. The decor had a modern vibe. It seems to a very good spot to bring a date. We ordered from the prix fixe menu: filet mignon, fried oyster, salmon, and gazpacho. Presentation was good. There were a few complaints from my friends and me: The fried oyster was a little bit oily and overcoated with too much breading. We did not taste the oyster due to overcoat of breading and they used small oysters. It would make a big different if the used better ingredients instead of small cheap oyster. Service was really slow, it took a long time to refill water; and we were very thirsty during our meal and the waiter did not check on us until the end. We were very disappointed with their service. Dessert was ok- not great. The filet mignon and the salmon fish were cooked perfectly. We liked these dishes the most part of our meal. They were good, but at the same time, it was not impressive to differentiate from other restaurants near by. We had hot chocolate cake and coconut cake for dessert. The hot chocolate cake was very dense and rich. It tasted like a brownie. It would be great if they added a scoop of vanilla to balance the richness of the chocolate. The coconut cake was a little bit too sweet and we could not finish it. My friends and i did not think their desserts were good. Overall it was okay; not impressed. I definitely would NOT return again.

Yelp
Went there on a Tuesday night. Place was pretty crowded. Love the (not so) new Hudson Yards - mall is beautiful and just fun to walk through. You have to take the escalator up a few floors as this is on the 4th floor - relatively easy to find! We started with apps - calamari, shishito peppers and deviled eggs - LOVED them all! Calamari rings were so big i thought they were onion rings haha Drinks were good as well - i had the moscow mule which i enjoyed! For entree, i ordered the shrimp and basil pasta. I didnt get much basil flavor or heat from the pasta but it was perfectly al dente! Our server, Megan, was so nice and patient as we chatted the night away. Such a joyful demeanor. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Went here for restaurant week with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting a lot as many people have talked down the restaurants at Hudson Yards, but the food here was actually very good. Also--even though it was restaurant week, the service was top notch and the food appeared to be straight from the regular menu, with the same portion sizes and everything. The desserts, pictured below, were also very tasty and worthwhile, another hallmark of a great restaurant. If you're looking for a place worth checking out in Hudson Yards, this is it.

Yelp
Worst dining experience of my life...stay clear of this restaurant. I went to dinner with my boyfriend and as we walked in it felt like the atmosphere was like we stepped into a diner from the 80s. I really thought a restaurant in such a nice mall like Hudson Yards would be nice, but this was quite the opposite. Don't get me started on the food. The waiter Kyle said that the Pimento Cheese Dip was one of the chef's "special dishes" and then proceeded to say it was "bar food" and "something you would get at the bar." We decided to try it because he claimed it was one of the chef's specials. We tried it and it was awful. The cheese seemed like it was kept it in the fridge the whole night and it was hard as a rock. The cheese tasted like nothing at all. It just had a little bit of spice to it. We sent it back and decided to order the fried oysters instead. It seemed like the fried breaded part of the oyster was all you could taste. We then received our entrees. The Steak Salad and the ML's Cheeseburger and a Rainbow Roll. The steak was ordered by my boyfriend who said that it was terrible and the steak had no taste at all and that we could have gotten a better meal at BelCampo next door. He didn't finish the salad. The sushi rolls seemed like they had been sitting out awhile and so I didn't finish it scared to get food poisoning from the raw fish. My burger was stale. I could have gotten a better burger at McDonald's. The cheese was not even melted on and it was just slapped on their as if it was Craft American Cheese. The fries were soggy. I was hoping that it would be a nice experience. The week before I went to Kawi and it was great. This restaurant is an embarrassment and clearly they did not choose their kitchen staff correctly. I would think that the new restaurant holding the brand of Hudson Yards would be just as professional and sophisticated with delicious cuisine as the other restaurants. I spent $100 on diner food in a restaurant located in a multi-billion dollar project...sad. Needless to say, I will not be coming back here and do not recommend this restaurant. Save yourself the money!

Yelp
Eh - I mean it's very overpriced for what you get, but I had a good time here. My friends and I stayed for as long as we wanted and didn't really feel rushed, which was nice. Drinks were pretty good as well - I really enjoyed my HYG Tom Collins. SO GOOD. The food is where I felt ripped off. Baked potato was not worth the $10 we paid. The coleslaw was okay, but again, not worth $10 we paid. I ordered the fried chicken, which I did really enjoy. The fries were okay, but the fried chicken was delicious. The skin was perfectly crisp and the meat was juicy. Was it worth it for $25? Not really. I've had fried chicken just as good as this for less. Overall, it's a pretty overpriced restaurant. I would go for drinks, but not for food.

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant located in the Hudson Yard Mall. It is minutes away from The Vessel and the Javits Center. The decor is modern and kind of dark but there is enough light at the tables. There is a small raw bar and lite as well as full entree's for selection on the menu. My visit was for a late lunch. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll from the raw bar as my starter and then ordered a salad with steak. The steak was cooked as I requested but the salad had a bit too much dressing for my liking. I also ordered "The Vessel" as a cocktail. Check it out if you like Ginn. The service was good. The server was attentive. I did initially get the wrong order delivered to me but the error was corrected promptly.

Yelp
Ate here for lunch. Nothing special and high prices. We were a party of six and had a mix of salads, sushi, and fried chicken. Rave reviews about the bloody Mary's - they don't have ranch dressing

Yelp
Excellent bar with good bar food choices. Stopped in for a quick drink and meal in between shopping runs. Had the burger and my daughter had the fried chicken sandwich. Both were great.

Yelp
Surprisingly enough the Hudson yards grill was the one place in the entire mall that offered some clearly labeled vegan options. Pretty shocking in 2019! I usually avoid anything called a " grill" but in we went. Service was excellent. The lunch menue pretty nice. I had the farro salad which was Ok not overly special but a nice presentation. The side of cauliflower was wonderfully tasty though. Great staff. The ambiance is odd. Brand new and feels dated like a big New York restaurant in the 90s. Large bold colorful art, red booths, heavy wood. Strange look today?

Yelp
It's a fancy restaurant with nice interior, but there are no windows at all so it made me feel like I'm trapped (sort of like being in a casino if you know what I mean). Food is just okay for that price. I feel like there are many more other choices at Hudson Yards where you can enjoy the view.

Yelp
Cool, comfortable and modern without the attitude that the location might suggest. Service was prompt but never invasive and the drinks enjoyed a generous pour. Had the fried chicken on a suggestion and I'm glad that I was so easily swayed. A terrific find in a restaurant town that sometimes coasts too easily on ancient reputations. An easy five stars.

Yelp
My family made a reservation to have a nice evening out in NYC Made a reservation at Hudsin Yarfs Grill. We were conple6looking forward to it but to our dismay it was an absolute disappointment! Reservation was for 6pm. We were ready to order at 7pm which was our decision. We ordered the Shrimp Cocktail abd Shishito Peppers which were pretty good. Our female server was not enthusiastic at all. Maybe she had a long night of not being invested in her job or maybe did not care to ensure to work for her earned tips The appetizers cane out within a reasonable time. Great! We were hungry. We never saw our entrees and our server was busy doing Roll-ups. At 8pm our patience had escalated to impatience, annoyance, hunger and then on our quest to find other dining options. I asked her to cancel our order. Unapologetic. No remorse. We were flabbergasted. Manager in a cowboy fedora pranced over to merely say our food is coming. No apologies . Zero !!!! We still tipped. Our awful experience could have been saved by a mere apology by server and the cowboy manager. Check was dropped. Luckily there was not a door to open because it would have hit us on the way out. Our evening ended happily at shake shack we loved it!!!

Yelp
I've recently dined at Hudson Yards Grill, and I can honestly say I was impressed from the moment I stepped in the door. Normally with such an impressionable experience I would remember the names of each member of the staff I encountered. But unfortunately I don't. But that is not say they were not the most professional and courteous people I've met in the culinary industry, because they were. I highly recommend this restaurant, if you want to grab a quick bite before taking in the sites of Hudson Yards. Our hostess and waiter (Rob or Rod) I was amazing !!!

Yelp
Surprisingly great! Great food and excellent service. Chef Ryan is from Louisiana as my husband. The gumbo and fried chicken sandwich according to my husband tasted like real deal southern fare. I enjoyed my shrimp cocktail and salmon. The booths are also very cozy but I got to admit the decor there isn't my thing. Still this place is a great option for lunch or dinner after shopping.

Yelp
Nice place in a newly developed area. Food was good and the service was as well. Nice variety on the menu and everyone in our group found something they enjoyed

Yelp
Not really sure why there are negative reviews of Hudson Yards Grill. I have never had a less than excellent experience here. Yea, it is on the pricy side but fairly reasonable by Manhattan standards. The location can't be beat - remember you're in Hudson Yards Mall who's tenants include Fendi and Cartier. Do you expect to pay 10 dollars for a burger here? The charred cauliflower here is one of a kind and I would honestly come here just for that and their Brussels sprouts.

Yelp
Wondering around in the mags mall in NYC and did not want to look for a place to eat. They have menu outside the waiting area and it was what we were looking for. Food was fresh, waiter was attentive. Great if the items can use more spices. Overall, it's worth the trip.

Yelp
Came to this restaurant the first Sunday it was open. The restaurant was surprisingly dead so we were seated immediately. Our server wasn't completely prepared which was fine since they were so new and we asked some weird questions, but overall she did a great job. We had the pimento cheese and a sushi roll (can't recall which one. Both were yummy appetizers. I had the lavender margarita which was delicious. For dinner, my friends had a salad and I had the double cheeseburger; yes I know I'm a fatty. Everything was great but for the price, it's nothing special. I feel like I can get the same things somewhere else for a better price. Would just say it was average. Not a bad experience just nothing special or spectacular.

Yelp
Quickly becoming my favorite restaurant at Hudson Yards! I love the low lighting, comfortable booths and the open air kitchen. Decor is pretty classic steakhouse. Staff is very friendly and professional. Skirt steak is delicious. Fried chicken is awesome. Great fries. Loved the fried oysters. Salmon is also delicious. Solid cocktails and a great wine list!
