The 10 Best Restaurants In Tannersville & Hunter, New York

"Ending your day on the mountain with a beer flight is a ski-day itinerary that writes itself. The brews at this spot range from easy-drinking German ales to hoppy New England IPAs, all of which pair well with one of their thick-patty burgers. Hunter Mountain Brewing also has an Indian bowl section featuring gigantic portions of chicken tikka and chana masala that’ll easily warm you up after a long day of attempting to take at least one flattering photo in swishy snow pants. Where to Eat in the Northern Catskills Near Hunter Mountain

"Don’t let this newcomer’s name fool you — every brew on tap at this downtown Hunter room is made out-of-house. But the extensive draft list, cocktails, and no-frills takes on burgers, meatloaf, and mac and cheese are exactly what legions of slope-slogged skiers prefer at the end of the day, with sizable servings and reasonable prices. Open evenings during the week, and from noon on weekends." - Robert Rubsam

A flight, some soup and a wrap. Absolutely exceptional service. Great food and near perfect beers. Will be back.

I recently visited Hunter Mountain and had an incredible experience! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with stunning views from every angle. The slopes were well-maintained and offered a great range of difficulty levels, perfect for both beginners and seasoned skiers. The staff was friendly and helpful, always ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. The facilities, including the lodges and restaurants, were clean, cozy, and well-stocked with everything you might need. I also appreciated the efficient lift system, which minimized wait times and maximized time on the slopes. Overall, Hunter Mountain is a fantastic destination for anyone looking to enjoy some time in the mountains, whether for skiing, snowboarding, or just soaking in the beautiful surroundings. Highly recommend!

Google
This a great casual restaurant to bring a family when you’re coming up the mountain. Food is not amazing but there’s something for everyone. We had the white wine mussels and chicken curry. The Indian food is probably the best thing on the menu. I probably wouldn’t do mussels from them again but I’d try another Indian dish. Service was friendly and quick but the atmosphere was a bit loud for my taste.

Google
I really don't understand why this place is so low rated. I have been coming here for the past 3 years. Have been here many times in different seasons. The food is good and consistent, the drinks and beers are tasty and reasonably priced, the view is magnificent and the service is decent. Bottom line come in, taste the food and drinks and enjoy the vibe and view

This place was a super good place! If it wasn’t raining, we would’ve loved to sit out on the patio. We just relaxed, drank the peach mango cider (not this company but super good) and got the Mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was to die for! We weren’t super hungry and the portion was enough for my husband and I to share. We aren’t from the area (11.5 hours away) so I’m sad I won’t get to get this more often but I hope to be able to make something at home that resembles it.

Google
Service is great. The food was also good. I had tiki Masala Indian food which was surprisingly 👍 good. Clean locale with really nice decor and amazing views 👏. The beer on the other hand I tried 8 of them and I liked none. I cant belive that because I'm not too picky and have years of experience with beers. Been around the world and multiple breweries and I drove specially here for beer 🍺 and it was a disappointment. But everything else is great !! Worth to come here for sure.

Google
Great value, awesome view, kind, attentive staff, and the food was outstanding! Great beer here too, my husband & I are both picky, but we each enjoyed their brews!

Google
Not all pizza, nice mix of some Indian dishes on the menu. Atmosphere/view of Hunter Mountain is fantastic. Beers were crafted well. Service was attentive and polite. Free parking - what else do you need?

Yelp
After a day in the mountain, this is the perfect spot to drop by for a drink and some food. This is minutes down the road from Hunter Mountain and every time I've went, I always make a point to stop by. I believe during the week they host theme nights, Trivia to name one of them. I tried their Fish and Chips and the fish was fried so well. It was still juicy and not dry at all. They have a good selection of drinks and beer at the bar. I always get their H.M. Be Easy, it's such a good drink. It reminds me of Blue Moon, but better.

Yelp
Came here before leaving hunter mountain. The majority of us ordered the Gateway burger, medium rare, and we ordered different sides (regular chips, onion rings, and sweet potato fries) so that we could try all of them and share. The onion rings and sweet potato fries cost $3 extra. All 3 were solid options! The regular chips are more like kettle chips and very fried and crispy! Perfectly salted as well. The sweet potato fries were not as crispy but still very honey sweet, but a tad too salty. The onion rings were by far my favorite. They were perfectly crispy, lightly battered, and were made from real full onions! Definitely will order the onion rings again in the future, even with the $3 extra cost. The burger was also perfect. Not too done and slightly pink in the center. Very juicy and was devoured within 5 minutes. Haha. I would have preferred more than 2 pickles though in my burger though. But overall, was an enjoyable meal and would be back again!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday for some apps&quick beer. Obviously since I live in the neighboring county, ai didn't know what everyone else knows, and that is that the food is really good. Serverst are attentive&friendly, including the people bring out the food. There's a clear view of the mountain which is really nice when you're inside &warm Here's our list of apps: vegy samosas...delish(several Indian dishes on the menu) Voodoo balls..umm what is the yummy sauce on the meatballs? Crowd pleaser for sure and works well with my porter! Wings we got hot&garlic parm, crispy, zero complaints, Zucchini sticks was a good munchies for the table. In a nutshell we need to come back here for entrees bcuz it was good enough that we will make the trek up the mountain for it.

Yelp
The food was great -- the burger was a 7/10 and the chicken sandwich an 8/10. The view of the mountains was beautiful, and the service was excellent. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
The Cobb salad was surprisingly good, but I've never been to a brewery whose own hazy IPA was solidly undrinkable. I'm flexible, but this tasted like old tires - it was eye-wateringly bad. I then switched to a Pinot noir, which was shockingly worse. If you go, stick with the food. And water.

Yelp
Wow! A new favorite spot for après ski located right next to Hunter mountain! There is a small parking lot out front with two rows of parking and it fills up quick! The views of the ski mountain are beautiful from this brewery/restaurant. Upon walking in the young man behind the host stand was extremely pleasant and friendly. We were able to be seated immediately which was great as we were hungry from a day on the slopes! We opted to share a bunch of different things from their menu. We ordered the beer cheese soup, honey garlic parm wings, signature Mac, and voodoo balls. I ordered their hot cocoa that comes with fresh whipped cream on top and it was perfect to warm me up after a chilly windy day of skiing. Our food all came out rather quickly and everything was absolutely amazing! The honey garlic parm wings I could've eaten the entire tray myself. The flavor was sweet, cheesy, and had a subtle taste of garlic. The wings had a delightful crunch to them with each new bite. Highly recommend this flavor combination, you will not be disappointed! The signature Mac was such a delightful cheesy goodness that I swear warmed my soul LOL! It needed a tiny sprinkle of salt on top and was so gooey and delicious. The voodoo balls were good but not my favorite as I'm very picky with meatballs. So I'll defer to my boyfriend's judgement. He said the bacon wrapped part was amazing as it gave it a crunch Smokey flavor. The meatballs were a bit dry but the sauce on them was a Smokey tangy bbq that was good. The beer cheese soup was delicious and super hot so we had to wait a bit to enjoy. It was great with the crackers on top however I would've loved it to be a tiny bit thicker consistency wise. Overall amazing service, delicious food, and very well priced menus. A must try!

Yelp
What an amazing view of the mountain from our seat! All seats I guess especially the outdoor seating. Standard American food was served to us. Enjoyed each food and drinks order we placed. Was not disappointed on how it tasted. Beverages met our expectations. Unfortunately hubby just had surgery and can't take any of the brewery's ales. Maybe on next visit. Pleasant experience.

Yelp
We came on a saturday night- it was pretty busy, but we were served quickly and our waitress was very friendly. The food here is super unique- there's a pretty extensive Indian menu on top of the typical pub foods you'd expect to see. The view of the mountain is gorgeous if you can get a seat with a view. The food was good, but nothing incredible. If you're looking for an affordable, friendly place to eat with lots of menu options, I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Stoped in here while driving around. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. Wide open and plenty of space. Dog friendly and the food was delicious. I'm looking forward to coming back it's nice to find go to spots.

Yelp
Friendly service, good beer selection, and a large deck with views of the mountain. Only food we tried were the pretzel bites--oddly, seemed deep-fried?
google avatar

Joe H.

Yelp
Awesome brew pub in the Catskill mountains! Lots of great beer options, food was great and the atmosphere was on point. Staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was family friendly. I had the Shepard pie and was not disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to come after a day of skiing with nice view of the mountain. Service was quick and friendly waitress. Food was good and love the beer!

Yelp
What a hidden gem in the town of Hunter, NY. We wanted to try this place based on the variety of options on the menu since we had a group of 7 with different tastes. I chose the Chicken Tikka Masala which had amazing flavor, also if you want a nice shareable app the Buffalo Chicken Dip didn't disappoint. As for the service and atmosphere, both were top notch. We were seated quickly and didn't have to wait on anything, food came out quickly and was well prepared. The dining area is large with amazing views of the mountain, as for their beer selection it was extensive and flights are offered if you want to try a variety of options.

Yelp
It had been a while (a couple of years) since our last encounter at HMB and we convinced our co-vacationer family to give it another try. This time we had no wait at just after 5PM, and the host found a table big enough for our eight. It was right under a speaker blaring music and next to a very hot fireplace but we took what we got. The waitress was great taking our order, and claimed she would bring water for the table, and drinks and waters for half the table were promptly delivered. We didn't see her after that for a looong time. The apps were the best part of our meal. The cauliflower bites are the star of the show and the spinach-cheese dip was great. The kids loved the pretzel bites. Entrees were much less appealing. Most of the French fries were rock hard, the person who got house made chips found them cooked hard clumped together and over-seasoned. He really wished he ever got water delivered. The chicken tenders were deemed inedible by the teenager. I ordered a steak (to split with my picky younger son) and didn't expect much, but was still let down by the overcooked gristle mess that came. The people who got salads said they were ok. It's a brewery and I got this far without mentioning the beers - we had a variety of styles at the table and they all got the thumbs down. I can't imagine we will convince the crew to return in future years.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
This is a great spot. The beers are great, the food was delicious from their bar pickings all the way to their ribeye steak. The staff was the best part. They were all extremely nice and friendly and made our experience worth it!
google avatar

Evita A.

Yelp
Perfect place to unwind after a hike! It was raining so we weren't able to sit outside and enjoy the view. Our waitress was friendly and recommended an IPA for me which was really delicious! They also had an apple cider sangria (perfect for the weather and season w/c was delicious, not too sweet)! We had finger foods (wings, calamari, soup, fries) to go with our drinks while unwinding and enjoying the view in the rain!
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! The outdoor seating is quite spacious, well managed and the views are spectacular as well.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
Our group of 6 was seated on the patio with a fabulous view of Hunter Mountain. The owner welcomed us and shared some of his journey to the Catskills. I was tempted by the Indian food and would like to go back and try it. I had the Summit Burger, which was delicious, I asked our friendly and helpful waitress which side she recommended -- the sweet potato fries and they were excellent. What a great experience, highly recommend!
google avatar

Nate L.

Yelp
Great service, great drinks, great vibes. Came after hiking some of the trails and had a blast. The cider flight was amazing and I will definitely be coming back
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
Food was excellent! We got the chicken tiki masala. It's one of the chefs specialties. My goodness was it delicious. I've had that dish many times elsewhere and this was definitely a top 5 for me. Service was great! We came on a holiday and despite how many people were there vs staff on hand, our waitress was very attentive. The only down side is that our beer wasn't so great. We should have got a flight but didn't. The crazy hazy is what we all drank and it wasn't good. In fact, I'm surprised the waitress didn't ask about why we didn't drink it. If you lock the beer gig down (and maybe the other beer is better) this place will be outstanding! Atmosphere is fantastic, outdoor views are excellent. You can see the ski slope while you're eating, can't beat it! The resultant was clean and the restrooms were nice and tidy.
google avatar

Yelp
Jen and Kelsie took care of us at this Catskills gem! We enjoyed an Indian Bowl, a traditional hamburger special and my meal, an amazing Shepherd's Pie! After a day of hiking Indianhead Loop (about 6 miles) we were loving the vibe and genuine local warmness of this establishment's wonderful people. We do enjoy new places, but Hunter Mountain Brewery represented the Catskills Region very well! Awesome food, service, and vibes! Great job Hunter Mountain Brewery !

Suraj P.

Yelp
Ordered a few drinks, Caesar salad, pretzel bites, a country chicken sandwich and a quesadilla. Waited an hour for the food to come out. Cancelled the sandwich and quesadilla because we couldn't wait another half hour. Ignoring the super long wait time, the ambiance was great. Pretty views of the foliage changing color.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Dinner was excellent. The beers were quite good. My husband and daughter's burgers were cooked perfectly medium rare. I had the chicken Tikka Masala and it was amazing. Great spot!
google avatar

Rita P.

Yelp
This is just for the Indian food. We were here for the weekend and were in the mood for something more than bar food. To my surprise the Indian food here was excellent. We got the samosa and chicken curry platter (it also came with Chana masala). The samosa were in excellent with good amount of heat. Chicken curry was unexpectedly good for brewery standards. It had heat and well blended spices. Naan was soft and delicious. Fish and chips were good too. My kids enjoyed it. Definitely a place to visit if you're tired of burgers and fries. I know my brown people will appreciate this surprise. I sure did. The owner is Indian.
google avatar

Mala L.

Yelp
I would rate Hunter Mountain Brewery 3.5 stars. Ok beers. It seems like brewing beer isn't the primary focus here. Thankfully, they have both inhouse beers and guest taps as well as the usual domestic beers. We did have a nice time- sat at the bar and each had a flight. The pretzel bites app was so good and seemed homemade (not previously frozen or the German style like I'm used to). The sauce was unique. The meals that others were eating around us looked really good and smelled even better. In addition to usual bar food, there were a few Indian dishes on the menu. I'm glad we stopped in and would recommend when in the area, but come for the bar/restaurant, not the brewery aspect.
google avatar

Chad V.

Yelp
Average beer and food. Since the area has limited options it's an acceptable, if not ideal, option. Wings were slightly undercooked, could use a longer fry. Dry chicken on the nachos. None of the in house beers stood out.
google avatar

Casey S.

Yelp
Wonderful place !! I needed to get some computer work done, have a reasonably priced meal, and a cold drink ( or 2 ). Thirza the server delivered all three while being very personable. Pleasantly suprised by the diverse menu and strong wifi connection.
google avatar

Gary C.

Yelp
My local spot. Food & brews keep getting better and better. Congrats to Manu and his team, keep it up!
google avatar

Kayo N.

Yelp
Cute little spot on the main street in town, with views of the slopes. There is a good selection of beers from the brewery, as well as a selection from guest breweries. I wasn't very hungry, so opted for a pumpkin ale (served with a cinnamon sugar rim) and a Caesar salad which was your standard issue with a nice garnish of pickled red onion. Bf enjoyed his French onion soup. It arrived hot and gooey. Looked delish! Will be back for sure.
google avatar

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Came here one night after skiing at nearby Hunter Mountain. Good spot but a little on the overpriced side. Decent for a Covid apres-ski experience. Food (3/5) - the shepherds pie Mac and cheese was pretty good but very filling. I hoped for a crusty cheese topping but that wasn't what was promised; kind of a genius idea to combine the two comfort foods. The honey garlic wings were a bit on the soggy side, but tasted pretty good also. Our drinks were on the strong side, and the apple cider was also classic American diner- worthy! Ambiance (3/5) - was pretty empty even on the weekend, though nicely decorated. Service was a little slow but the waiter came by way too often and seemed to be hurrying us along even though there wasn't a line.
google avatar

Chelsea N.

Yelp
Stopped here on a bachelorette brewery hop in the area. We were a party of 8 and were sat right away. The outdoor seating looks right at hunter mountain's ski slopes so the views were great! We ordered two apps which tasted good. Some of the beer I really liked (their pumpkin!) but some I couldn't drink.
google avatar

Alice D.

Yelp
Good food! Decorated for Christmas and very cute. Great beer selections and holiday drinks.
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
It was very busy when we came in on a Saturday afternoon. We sat at the last bar seats available. We waited a good ten minutes before we were even acknowledged. However once we were, the service was pretty fast. Drinks are good; food is just ok. Tastes like typical bar food. My nachos didn't even come with cheese on them, (weird since that's a main ingredient in nachos) and they were a bit bland. Depending on which day you come here, expect to wait awhile. If I'm in the area again, I will probably find another place to go.

Theresa M.

Yelp
We always enjoy going there. Food is delicious, beverages are great and the employees are sweet and very friendly. It is just a great place to enjoy a good meal, beautiful scenic views and gorgeous sunsets.

Taylorlynn P.

Yelp
Food was good, I got the salmon and it was great, but kinda dry. Service was okay but not amazing
google avatar

Lisabel H.

Yelp
I was so surprised by the rating of this spot here on Yelp. We went in a group of about 18 and it did not disappoint! The food was great and some of the Indian dishes we ordered was some of the best I ever had, I still think of going back and having some more...truly amazing! Food: Chicken Curry and Chicken tikka masala which we got with white rice and naan bread (you need to get this!!!) Also got gateway burgers, wings, french onion soup, and their voodoo balls which were all very good! They have a very nice outdoor area and a great peaceful view of the mountains. 10/10 recommended coming here!
google avatar

Lawrence W.

Yelp
Came here for sushi Thursday and it was incredible. Got the double toro roll and the Hunter roll. Both were really fresh and tasty. Better than most nyc sushi restaurants! I haven't tried their standard menu food items but the service was friendly and the community vibe made you feel welcome. Definitely looking to come back soon!
google avatar

Adelma L.

Yelp
We like to go here as a family after skiing and it's always packed. There's a bit of a wait but it's worth it. The pulled pork is good (and huge!) and the Chana masala is a nice execution. My son loves the Mac & Cheese.
google avatar

Alexa M.

Yelp
Beers & Babes. I think this was the first time I ever ordered a flight of beer. Loved the options and enjoyed some of the bites too. We ordered 6 pretzel bites to share across the group and sat playing "What do you Meme" until the rain came in.
google avatar

Ruth C.

Yelp
We were camping in the Catskills and came across Hunter Mountain Brewery while out on a scenic motorcycle ride. The view we had for lunch was beautiful! Food was delicious! I had Cider (not a beer fan but will always find something!) and it was good. Kevin liked the beer so thumbs up! Staff was friendly and service was quick and attentive. So glad we stopped in!
google avatar

Carrie A.

Yelp
Great bar, home brews and excellent food. Beautiful side deck where dogs are welcome
google avatar

Melanie R.

Yelp
Not sure why some of the ratings were low, but I really enjoyed this place! Great views of Hunter Mountain in the backdrop. After a long day of snowboarding, this place was close by to Hunter Mountain so it was an easy stop to grab some food and drinks! We sat at the bar but it had plenty of seating for people walking right in! Drinks Got the flight so I can sample some beers before ordering my favorite pick! Blueberry Ale (fruit beer) - nice and light.. good for non beer drinkers! Becker Hollow Brown Ale - easy to drink! Good flavors Double Diamond Stout - dark and creamy! If you like dark n bitter, this one is for you! Into the Void (stout) - smooth, chocolate and creamy! My favorite was Into the Void! Food Got the Summit Burger with onions rings.. made the way I liked it and onion rings were nice and crispy. Worth a stop if you're in the area or just getting done with some skiing or snowboarding!
google avatar

Donna D.

Yelp
Great food! We had French onion soup which had the perfect amount of cheese and flavor. Burger cooked perfectly and chicken wrap as well. Drinks were delicious (margarita and spiked cider). Waitress was friendly and efficient. I noted prior to the visit that some mentioned slow service. This is a small town restaurant that gets very busy. We had everything we needed well within a reasonable time. Relax and enjoy!
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
Great view, good beer. I got the ribeye and it was okay, I don't think the draw here is the food. The staff was very friendly and I would still go back.
google avatar

Robert G.

Yelp
My groomsmen and I all came here for our last night together on our groomsmen weekend and we all loved it! The food was awesome and the beer was good! Apparently it's a popular spot for people getting married too, because we saw two other brides with their bridesmaids there!
google avatar

Melanie O.

Yelp
Good food. Good drinks. Great server. Went skiing and then decided to stop by here very cozy. The garlic parm wings are so yummy deff recommend. Also got the bbq brisket nachos which were very good as well.

Mike G.

Yelp
Nice views beers were we're almost as chewy as the wings. wings had a pungent smell and were rubber loaded the family up and went somewhere else.

Yelp
Hunter Mountain Brewery is a fantastic destination for anyone who loves great bar food and craft beer. BEST SOMOSAS The brewery offers a wide range of delicious American and Indian dishes all expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic spices. The dishes are served in generous portions, perfect for sharing with friends or family. They offer a rotating selection of beers on tap, so there's always something new to try. The brewery also serves a range of cocktails, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages to suit all tastes. The atmosphere of Hunter Mountain Brewery is relaxed and welcoming, with a rustic decor and friendly staff. The outdoor seating area offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal or drinks with friends. Overall, I highly recommend Hunter Mountain Brewery for anyone who loves great food and craft beer. The combination of excellent cuisine, spectacular drinks, and beautiful scenery make it a must-visit destination for foodies and beer enthusiasts alike.

Yelp
Meh Mediocre beer Mediocre food Mediocre menu No vibe Just wasn't into it View was nice.
