The Best Pho in Houston | Bon Appétit

"In a Zen-like Asiatown dining room filled with bamboo, lotus-shaped light fixtures, and Buddha statues, I found Hương Sen, chef-owner Tien Huynh’s vegetarian spot opened in 2019; almost everyone orders the pho, a meat-free bowl built from tofu, faux ham, the usual herbs, and an amber mushroom-based broth whose gentle sweetness of star anise is more layered and complex than many beef versions." - ByBao Ong

The Best Restaurants in Bellaire, Texas | Eater Houston

"Huong Sen, which means “lotus flower” in Vietnamese, offers vegetarian and vegan versions of traditional Vietnamese dishes, in a casual but thoughtfully decorated Zen-like setting. Soy-based meats and other ingredients like jackfruit, breadfruit, konjac, and tapioca are used in dishes like the Bun Hue Huong Sen, an adaptation of the spicy pork noodle soup. Clay pots and hotpots, like the Lau Huong Sen — a spicy sweet and sour lemongrass soup served with an ample side of vegetables for dipping — are the specialties here." - Minh Truong

We were excited to find this vegetarian restaurant focused on Vietnamese cuisine. However, when we got here on Sunday, it was unfortunate that the restaurant staff was dealing with a leakage. They were still able to accommodate us, and we took a spot. The Ambience was Great and calming. There were a lot of plants around us, which gave the space a lot of greenery. We play a star order, and it started to come out pretty quickly. However, there was some confusion with what we thought we had ordered, and what came out to our table. When we expressed that to a server, it was met with resistance, and it was like they didn’t care. As soon as we experienced that vibe, we were turned off, and just didn’t feel like we wanted to do eat there, and we requested a server that we would pay for the appetizer that they had brought out and cancel the rest of our order. However, on hearing that the server quickly changed their stance and was like it’s OK. I will get you what you needed. Other than that. The food was average. I ordered the lemon grass drink, which was probably the only thing that I truly enjoyed on the menu. Everything else left me wanting for more.

Came for dinner. Place was packed. Had to sign waitlist. As soon as we got a table, the wait staff came over to get our order. We had to ask for more time to decide. Service was excellent. Came over and provided what we need quickly and efficiently. Considering food is all vegetarian, it was very tasty. We had mango papaya salad, pho, and ca kho to (fish in claypot) and fried tofu. Not sure how they made the fake fish and fake beef but it was very edible. The pho was very fragrant and the fish was very tasty. The fried tofu and mango salad is highly recommended. Quite enjoyable meal.

It was my first time here and the foods were amazing. Love the atmosphere, very well and clean decoration. Food was well-served, beautiful and tasty. Reasonable price and potion.

Google
First time trying vegetarian food like this. We ordered the shaking tofu in chili oil and the bun hue. The tofu was okay it was pretty bland and couldn’t taste any chili. The bun hue was good, it reminded me of pho because of the aromatics.

I have been to this Hương Sen restaurant a few times. Today, my friend and I came here for a late lunch. Their food always tastes so good. I like their ginger lemongrass cold tea drink; it's so refreshing. The restaurant is very small and cozy, but it has beautiful decorations and a temple interior design. Their service is always good. The owner is a very nice person. I would definitely recommend that everyone come here to try out their vegetarian dishes. You won't be disappointed.

Google
Nice little Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant serving popular comfort food all without any meat products in their dishes. My dad likes coming here, so we take him fairly often. We normally get 5 to 6 items, and it'll be good to feed 5-6 adults. Service is also excellent 👌. I had to deduct 1 star because several of the main entrees have very similar taste profiles.

If you never try any Asian Veterinarian or Vegan food, this place is a good place to try. The flavors are strong and good.

Vegans should avoid yellow noodles (w/ eggs) and alternative “chicken” (w/ milk). Enjoy your visit :)

Yelp
Delicious vegetarian options are in abundance here, but meat is not. Every single item on the menu here is vegetarian, but if you eat meat, you won't miss it given how flavorful and fresh the food is. I do have to mention that one could be misled with how some of the dishes are named: for example, they have a dish called Heo Quay Kho Ngũ Vị (Five Spices Roasted Pork), but it is actually an (excellent) tofu dish meant to imitate pork. There's no indication in either the Vietnamese or English name that this is imitation pork rather than real pork. Since this restaurant does explicitly label themselves as a Vegetarian restaurant, that might be obvious to most. But I think it would be helpful to label the imitation dishes as such to make it more clear for those who may not know. I came here with a big group of friends so I was able to try plenty of things. My favorites were the Mango Salad and the Five Spices Roasted Pork, and even though I ate A LOT, I didn't walk out feeling bloated or heavy. Service is friendly, the zen interior design of the restaurant is cute and photogenic, and there's plenty of parking. This restaurant is in Bellaire, and even though it's a bit further down the road from Chinatown, it is well worth the drive. Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5

Yelp
This is NOT the place to go if you want meat (even their "meat" dishes are from vegan-based). But that being said, the food is really good and the restaurant can accompany both small and large parties. Place is more for casual get-togethers. Easy to find parking (in a lot). I highly recommend getting the spring rolls and mango salad (do not skip on this one) for their appetizers. I got the roast "pork" dish and was pleasantly surprised how flavorful and crispy it was. Great portions too. Good service: Workers very attentive, food came out quickly, and came by periodically to check up on us. Just know though, you pay at the register (we were waiting for the check and did not realize that). Highly recommend for a Asian-Viet vegan restaurant!

Yelp
Heard by word of mouth that Huong Sen was good, so a group of us went to check it out. I really liked how they decorated the restaurant. Service was good, accommodating a party of 9. The food was so delicious! Everything vegan. I can't decide which is my favorite. Appetizers ordered: bi cuon (spring rolls), cha gio chay (eggrolls), goi xoai (mango salad w/ crispy crackers) Entrees: Bun hue (vegan bun bo hue, spicy and portion was larger than expected), nam va dau hu kho to (tofu + mushroom, the sauce was so savory & addicting), heo kho ngu vi (crispy, fried tofu) Really enjoyed dinner and a fun outing!

Yelp
My grandma is a Buddhist vegetarian and I've been on the hunt for places she can eat at. A friend recommended this place and I finally had the chance to bring my grandma! Not all of their menu items are Buddhist vegetarian friendly, but there were a good amount of items that are. The interior here is pretty spacious and there are booths that are tucked away. There's no large party tables, but we were a party of 5 and they had a table that fit us. We ordered the Cha Gio Chay as an appetizer and these were arguable my grandma's favorite--she ate 3 of these and she usually has a small appetite. These were nicely crisped and paired really well with the vegetarian nuoc mam. We also got the Bun Cha Gio which was another one of my grandma's favorites, she ended up eating most of the bowl (we family-styled the meal). The fried rice was good, though I do wish the portion size was a bit larger. It had a nice wok flavor and the rice was not soggy at all. The salted tofu was my favorite dish by far--super airy and crispy and lightly salted. The caramelized fish was also good, although on the salty side--it pairs really well with the complementary rice. Lastly, we got the snow pea leaves without garlic--these were cooked very well and were still flavorful despite no garlic. Overall, a great experience and I will be bringing my grandma back!

Yelp
Wow, wish they have a delicious Vietnamese Vegetarian Restaurant like this in ATL!!! OMG the Bún Huế Chay (Spicy Noodle Soup) is my fav!!! The flavor is on point & the Chile Lemongrass Sate is fire!!! The Canh Chua (Hot & Sour Soup) & Cá Kho Tộ (Caramelized Fish in Clay Pot) are flavorful as well. Even the name of this place is lovely. Hương Sen means Lotus Flower (my favorite flower), hence the beautiful Lotus interior decor. Def will come back when I'm in town to try other dishes on the menu!!

Yelp
If you're vegetarian, Huong Sen is a fantastic spot for some authentic Vietnamese food. They've got all the classics but made it vegetarian like pho, bun bo hue, and flavorful vermicelli bowls to name a few. I tried their bun hue huong sen (vegetarian spicy noodle soup) and it was flavorful and satisfied my noodle craving even though I'm not vegetarian! The vibe inside is super calm, giving off zen buddhist temple vibes with traditional harp music playing and the sound of water. Plus, the staff is friendly and the food comes out fast. There is plenty of seating and table booths, and a big parking lot outside too.

Yelp
I can't count the number of times I've been here. It's my go to place for vegetarian Vietnamese dishes without sacrificing traditional flavors. Every time I'm there, I'm greeted by a polite smile from one of the staff. They speak in a calm and collected manner and are very patient with explaining menu items if it's your first time. I am also obsessed with the interior. All of the furniture is basically wood or what looks like wood lol, and the leafy decorations along with Buddha sculptures take me to a place of zen and peace which reflects the vibe that they're going for. There's usually soft harp music playing in the background, similar to sounds you would hear at a temple or a yoga class. The staff members wear uniforms, which makes things look more neat and orderly. The restaurant itself is clean and well kept. Unfortunately, during this visit I was starving from the Houston humidity and wolfed down my meal before taking photos of the food lol. I ordered the bún giò chả bị (Number 11) and my mom ordered the bún Huế (Number 10). Both entree items taste amazing and fresh with good portions. The bún giò is essentially a rice noodle salad with fish sauce and egg rolls. The bún Huế is a broth noodle with pieces of "beef", mushrooms, and tofu skin. I highly recommend it for a first timer. The only thing I'd nitpick is that prices are increasing, but that's just with the cost of everything going up. Just sucks I can't get the same dish for $7 anymore. Besides that, check Huong Sen out for some awesome Vietnamese vegetarian food!

Yelp
Huong Sen was delicious! This is one of our favorite vegetarian places in the Chinatown area. It is a few minutes further than the main Chinatown area. All items are vegetarian on the menu. We've tried multiple items on the menu and each has been tasty. My favorite is the spicy noodle soup, which contains multiple different types of fake meat in a tasty, spicy broth. Know that it does have a spicy kick to it. Know that although they take your order at your table, you actually pay for food at the register up front.

Yelp
Pretty far west. My Vegan friend took me there. It's a beautifully decorated restaurant. The music is calming and the customer service is great. We shared the hot and sour soup and egg rolls. That's enough for two. The food was good but I didn't find it delicious. Maybe the vermicelli dishes are better which we might try next time. You pay at the register.

Yelp
I played vegan roulette with google maps landed here. The prices are average. everything except the service was brilliant, but to be fair she was an army of one .the other servers taking lunch during peak rush. Many vegan choices. They will also remove fish sauce from Things to make vegan. A first choice of its not during lunch hour

Yelp
The menu is here full of fantastic vegetarian options, all of which are prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients. From the classic Vietnamese noodle dishes to the savory and filling stir-fries, every dish is packed with flavor and nutrition. The tofu-based dishes are particularly noteworthy, as they are prepared in a variety of unique and creative ways. The service is also excellent. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making sure that every guest has a pleasant dining experience. However, the restaurant's prices are a bit high for it's location. But overall, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and healthy vegetarian meal. With its fantastic menu, cozy atmosphere, and excellent service, it's definitely one of the better vegetarian Vietnamese restaurants around.

Yelp
Huong Sen (loosely translated to "fragrant lotus") is a Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant in a relatively quiet center that's a bit high (drive in at an angle!). Unlike many Asian eateries in Chinatown, I found the decor well thought out and zen-like. It almost has a cozy tea shop feel, but I'm perhaps influenced by the cute traditional tea pots and cups that were used as decoration and wooden accents. I have been a strict vegetarian for almost a decade now but I haven't eaten at many Vietnamese vegetarian restaurants and because of that, most of what I prefer stem from my omnivorous days. Sad, because I love Vietnamese food! Why? We also don't eat alliums and Vietnamese vegetarian cuisine (like American) does use alliums. Luckily, you can request for no alliums and my dad was with us (the Vietnamese speaker) so there wasn't much struggling involved... other than when he told our waitress to not add any onions and garlic and leeks showed up in the Hu Tieu Mi Chay... so you've got to be VERY specific. This place doesn't serve all the Vietnamese dishes that you'd find at most Vietnamese establishments. They have (off the top of my head) a few sides that are eaten with rice, hot pot, and noodle soup dishes (with one cold rice noodle dish) with some appetizers. They also have one fried rice dish. My go-to Viet dishes are com tam (broken rice served with "fish" sauce) and bun rieu (traditionally seafood - crab - and tomato based). They don't have either. I do like bun (cold vermicelli dish) but it isn't great as leftovers and as I wasn't that hungry, I passed on it. The noodle soups they do have seem to use the same base... which is probably why they offer only those. I settled on pho chay, or vegetarian beef noodle soup. Hubby got Hu Tieu Mi... which I can't really describe because I never really order it. I got it for him because it has both rice and egg noodles. I did taste it and the pho broth is more flavorful by far... hello, MSG and sugar! The hu Tieu broth was bland in comparison. My pho reminded me a little of what I remember about non-veg pho, though it's missing animal bits and flavor. So kudos to them! Coupled with the oyster sauce, fresh herbs, and lime (i would have liked more lime wedges), I was pretty content. I must say that even though they know no alliums and the soup base is safe for us, they rely on sauce additives to get to the final product - a finishing sauce, I suppose. Those sauces quite possibly DO contain alliums. This was the case for the spicy noodle soup two others in my group got ON THE SIDE. The dish tasted okay. The sauces (looked like a paste?) probably would had added oomph. In fact, my pho automatically came with vegetarian oyster sauce (tasted safe) as well as what smelled like sriracha and hot chili oil (are NOT smell safe) in a small sauce dish. I requested for another sauce dish of only the oyster sauce. If cross contamination is a deal breaker and you're also about sauce, know sauces are suspicious here. I remember restaurants keeping these condiments on the table for you to get at will, but they don't have that here. Maybe it's COVID-related or maybe they're just fancy. Okay, let's cut to the chase. Nice environment, fairly nice staff, decent tasting [mostly] allium-free renditions of some noodle soups. Menu could have more variety but it clearly didn't stop the other patrons (the place was mostly full by the time we left); I guess I'm biased since they don't sell my favorite dishes. They don't even have my favorite dessert drink. Value? It's in a smaller bowl and more expensive (average: $13/bowl) than San San, who also serves Vietnamese noodle soups (my favorite bun rieu included). Everyone at the table finished theirs except for me because I had a wonderful froyo smoothie 2 hours before (NO REGRETS). I would like to come back and try some non-noodle dishes to get a better idea of their offerings, but based on this one visit, it's not bad, if on the pricey side. I'm mostly glad there are some other places to eat at when my go-to vegetarian eatery where we can eat everything is closed (which was why we all came on this occasion, haha). I wish they switched to recyclable to-go containers though. They used styrofoam, so I take back my thought on them being fancy.

Yelp
I cannot believe I am saying this but I have tried every single item on their menu and no pictures to show unless I expose my hangry aunts and uncles. I will take individual food photos when I can and post in the future. If you or anyone in your family who are vegetarian or "an chay," then this is your restaurant! Number one do chay (Vegetarian food) restaurant in Houston per this girl. My family and I have been coming here for years! Ambiance is relaxing, clean, nicely decorated (besides this one random chair at the booth... can you spot it?). Speaking of decor, this is the nicest Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant I have ever been to. Prices are reasonable. If you order any of their soup noodles, it only comes in one size but a lot. I can easily share it with another person unless I'm extremely hungry. Each one are delicious but personal favorite for their noodle soup is Bun Hue Huong Sen - it's a tad spicy but I love it, especially with the side of sate chili and fresh vegetables. For rice entree to share, my family and I enjoy their dau hu rang sate (fried tofu with chili oil) and nam xao sau ot (mushroom with lemongrass clay pot). Honestly, all their clay pots are delicious so give any a try! I have family members who don't eat vegetarian (including my tough and picky eaters, my brother and younger cousin) enjoy their clay pots. Canh chua is alright. My mom makes it better but we still enjoyed it. Another favorite, especially in hot, humid weather is bun cha goi, bi chay. Servers are always friendly and attentive. A downside are some of their hot tea pots and tea cups have chips so be careful. We usually pay at the register up front. For anyone who drives a low car, be careful cause the way into their parking lot can be quite steep and there's a lot of glass on the right side. Tip for those who 'an chay' for Buddhism reasons: be sure to check the ingredients listed, especially for the older folks who doesn't read English. There are some entrees with green onions, scallions, onions, etc. When in doubt, let the server know.

Yelp
Best vegetarian Bun Bo Hue I ever tried, the place's decoration is aesthetic and the food is way far better than my expectations

Yelp
Love their food! So good and consistent. Service is efficient and the ambiance is so calming and pleasant. I am definitely a regular customer and always bring family and friends who come from out of town.

Yelp
We visited Huong Sen and liked the experience. The lemongrass chicken, served with white rice, was tasty, and I thought the sauce was great to pour over the rice. I wasn't a huge fan of the vegetarian spring rolls--the filling in the center was a little gritty for my tastes, but I liked the sauce that came with it. Service was very efficient and nice--our food came out super fast! They took our order at the table, and then we paid at the register in the back of the restaurant. Note that I tried visiting Huong Sen recently on a Saturday (when Yelp said the restaurant was open, and it wasn't a holiday), but Huong Sen was randomly closed--so you may want to call first to confirm they're open.

Yelp
The food here is excellent. It makes me forget there is a really sus massage place within 10 feet of this place. Who knows what sort of magic is happening in that facility. It's nice to be able to eat peaceful Buddhist cuisine knowing nothing shady is happening around you. This place is vegan btw. Just in case you didn't know.

Yelp
A vietnamese vegetarian place that has a great selection of dishes that make you wonder if you're actually eating anything meat-based. The answer? you aren't. This is tucked away from the busy-ness of the "main" bellaire area with plenty of parking to be had. We got: Spicy noodle soup: One bowl is enough to share between 3 people if you plan on getting other dishes. Solid broth, noodles, and "meats" inside Lemongrass chicken: Chunks of "chicken" in a salty sauce. Definitely delicious but on the saltier side Fried egg tofu and mushrooms: Deliciously fried egg tofu + mushrooms in a similar sauce as above. Still worth getting, as the egg tofu is perfectly fried. Service is solid and pricing is on the slightly higher side (~$12-14 per entree?) but definitely a good stop if you're vegetarian (or not!) and looking for a great place to eat!

Yelp
Love this place so much. My sister is vegetarian so I took her here based on recommendations from another vegetarian friend. We were both deeply impressed by the authentic flavors and wonderful service. We ordered a couple of dishes but our favorites were the Bun Hue (like bun Bo hue but without the bo/beef) and the hu tieu. My sister loved the hu tieu most. It was beautifully fragrant and light. The broth was amazing and incredibly delicious. We also got the vegetarian rolls and egg rolls. They were a bit dry because of the filling but I loved how beautifully presented they were. I wish they had the mushroom rolls that day. I would have loved to try them. The egg rolls were good but needed a bit more filling. We also got canh chua (sour soup). It was good but I could have done without the faux seafood. Otherwise, another authentic dish that was pretty good. We also tried the fish in hotpot. It was really spicy but I loved the flavors. And it tastes great as a leftover as well. They also serve beautiful hot tea and the atmosphere is lovely. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone - omnivore and herbivore alike.

Yelp
A friend decided to try out vegetarian restaurant and chose this one so it was the 1st time we were here. Surprisingly the restaurant decor is very nice. We really like it. On the food side it was OK. I have to admit I'm not a vegetarian person. Other people claimed that it tasted as good as the regular food and you can't tell the differences. But honestly I can tell the different lol. Of course it can't taste the same as regular food since these are vegetarian. Presentation was good, by the look it does look like a regular bun Bo hue or Mu Quang, etc.... If you like vegetarian then surely this your place.

Yelp
Super cute place with great food! Food was fresh and the service was okay! Would def go back

Yelp
Located in a nondescript strip mall, Huong Sen proves the adage you can't judge a book by its cover. The inside is beautiful with dark wood accents evoking temples with loads of real plants. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable and guided us in our meal selection We started with Cha Gio Chay (Vegan crispy spring rolls). Served piping hot they were quite good, but the stars of the show were yet to come. We shared Bun Hue Huang Sen (spicy noodle soup) It was spicy, tart with just a hint of sweetness. It had great noodles with tofu, tofu skin, mock ham and mock beef. It also came with a massive plate of shredded cabbage, bean sprouts and thinly sliced banana blossoms to add into the soup...plus homemade chili sauce on the side. However, the star of the show was the Nam Va Dau hu Kho To (Caramelized mushroom and tofu in clay pot) The flavor was amazing. Basically a massive umami bomb. The king of umami bombs. The tofu had been fried and acted as a sponge for the caramelized flavor dripping of the large chunks of mushrooms cooked in the cast iron pot. With the accompanying bowl of white rice we soaked up every last ounce of the caramelized mushroom sauce. The clay pot dish is going in my hall of fame and in the running for a last meal.

Yelp
One of the dankest vietnamese vegan restaurants I have tried thus far. And let me tell you, I've eaten at vietnamese vegan restaurants all over California, Nevada, New Mexico, Canada, Vietnam, China and now Texas. Southern Cali is known for their vietnamese vegan restaurants, especially the ones in Orange County via Westminster. This place hauls ass and has attentive staff with great service. The prices for their food are ultra fair, and the portions are wayyyyy huge. This place is comparable, even better dare I say than alot of the restaurants in Orange County California. If I lived in Houston, I swear I'd be here all the time.

Yelp
Excellent vegan food! Far from where I live, but worth the drive. I'll definitely be back. Portions are quite large and flavors are on point. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Cute little place with very nice decorations! The ambiance is suitable for not only just a casual meal but also a date. The staff was so nice and kind even though the place was fully packed when we stopped by. The food was very good. I have bun bi cha gio (vermicelli with shredded tofu & vegetarian egg rolls) & my friend had vegetarian pho. Both dishes were very on point. I'm most impressed with how the pho broth can still be so tasty without any real meat in it. The price was quite higher than San San Tofu where we normally had our vegetarian craving fixed, but I guess it justified for the experiences where San San is more like a quick grabbed meal vs. Huong Sen is like a dine-in full service restaurant.

Yelp
This place is perfect if you want something light or healthy. They also have more hearty dishes available. For appetizers I ordered the mushroom spring rolls and crispy rolls. Both were vegetarian and delicious! I also got a veggie bowl (I forgot the name of it) but it was packed with toppings and super tasty. My husband had the lemongrass chicken which came with a huge pot of white rice. To accompany our meal we had lemongrass & ginger tea which is served cold. Everything was great and the atmosphere in the restaurant is really relaxing and quaint.

Yelp
Only restaurant I come for vegan food. Their ca kho to is very tasty and good, little salty but isn't a big deal to me. I always order their bun hue chay. Tofu with chili oil sauce is very good. I had their mango salad twice. First time was really good. Second time was little too sour to my liking
google avatar

Christie N.

Yelp
I'm relatively surprise the food is really good and flavor is great. The clay pot "fish" looks simple but the texture was not bad. The sweet and sour soup came with lots of veggies esp bean sprout and was great portion size. The clay mushroom and tofu was good as well however I feel they should've gave a lot more tofu than 4 small pieces. It's tofu, they're not expensive...each dish all cost $10 each which was ok pricing. I would definitely come back to try other dishes. P.s. they like to load their clay pot dish with lots of peppercorn pepper..

Yelp
Really good food, but pricey. The food was really good but for the portion you receive its not worth it. Its priced at a premium. When you go to a Papadeaux or a similar someplace where the food is expensive like this at least you walk out with leftovers because the portions are so big, so for the price you actually come out getting two meals or a meal and a half depending on your appetite. This place, you get one really good vegetarian meal at a small-ish size portion. The mushroom spring rolls were two rolls cut into four pieces for $5 and a bowl of Bun Hue Huong Sen for $9 which had very little noodles and a few pieces of faux meat. Which with after tax and tip comes to $20 for lunch. No, no, no. The Bun Hue broth was flavorful, dont get me wrong, just too expensive to make this place a regular stop to eat. Which probably explains why I was the only person dining there during peak lunchtime on a weekend. On Bellaire, I'm sure theres a dozen or more really good places to get Bun Hue, so the search continues for a regular place that charges normal prices for a decent size meal. I suppose your paying for all of expensive furniture and fixtures they've decorated with, which you'll probably be able to pick up on eBay or Craigslist when it goes out of business because they just dont get that you cant charge premium prices like that in an area of town where the market is saturated. Its not uptown, downtown, or even Galleria, it's a strip center in the dilapidated part of Bellaire. If rent is that high you've got to charge that much for small portions, you should probably move, but i suspect that thats not the reason. This place is not new and the interior decor is probably long since paid for. Also, has anyone noticed the rising gas prices all of a sudden after the election year? $2.21!! Like 2021! Is this some kind of joke. What the h did we invade Iraq for if we still have to pay prices like that... ridiculous. Don't litter! Its bad for you.

Yelp
When we first arrived, the restaurant was nicely decorated creating a peaceful ambiance. They had a huge display to welcome customers in but it slows the service because staff could easily overlook incoming customers. My dad ordered the lemongrass tea, which was tasty. We also ordered Canh Ngot, Tofu and mushroom in a claypot, and Dau Hu Rang Sate. All are yummy but on the salty side. Portion is quite small for the price. I was hungry 2 hours afterward.

Huong Sen is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I've been to. It's clean, detailed, and cultured. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dining and food experience. Absolutely lovely.

Yelp
My first time here, the place itself is really cute and the service was great! Our food arrived quickly. I really enjoyed the spring rolls *not pictured *, don't get me started on the nuoc mam...it was SO GOOD. Now the noodles were amazingggg and the BROTHHHHH oh my god It was my favourite. The portion size for the noodles was good, i really recommend it for those who have probably never eaten vegan before. I will be coming back

Yelp
The only reason why I'm not leaving Texas. Huong Sen is authentic in the Vietnamese food it serves. Some of my highlights are the bi cuon or spring rolls (their nuoc mam is too good) and the mushrooms and tofu cooked in a clay pot. While the music may be repetitive, I love the attention to detail and the relaxing ambience they create to heighten the aesthetic experience. They seasonally change their little decorative space in the front of the restaurant and heard they spend loads for the orchids at the entrance. We always feel obligated to snap a picture when coming.

Yelp
The food here is made with so much love and the service is great here. As soon as you walk in you're greeted with a peaceful presence of art sculptures and paintings of Buddha. I honestly love everything here so it's hard to pick a favorite. The food is healthy and well balanced. Definitely a hidden gem

Yelp
I have found this place recently and can't believe that I've never tried it before. This place has the best mango salad that I've had in Houston and every dish that I've had here so far has been spectacular! I will be there again this week because of that mango salad! It is addictive!

Yelp
I drove by here and saw a new vegetarian place and got so excited. My sister is currently going veggie for a few months and we thought we try this place out. Interior decor is very nice and clean. I love all the wood decor. Service was very attentive and friendly. BI CUON- shredded tofu, vermicelli, lettuce, herbs wrapped with rice paper, and served with fish sauce This is my favorite appetizer. I did have issues with the rice paper being too hard at first, but it's been getting much better and they fixed the issue. I love the freshness of this dish. It's very flavorful, but it feels very light. I order this dish every time I come here. CHA GIO CHAY- vegetarian ham, carrot, jicama, rolled with fresh lettuce and herbs, served with fish sauce The egg roll is very crispy and sturdy. I really like the filling because it all holds together and has a meaty texture. BUN HUE CHAY- big rice noodles, veggie beef, veggie ham, tofu, mushroom, served with spicy savory soup and fresh vegetables This is my favorite dish. The broth is sweet, spicy, and savory. I like that it's a root broth and not a paste. There is some spice to it, which is really good and the different textures of the tofu with the veggie meats were a great combination. The ingredients tasted so fresh. This is the best! NAM VA DAU HU KHO TO- caramelized mushroom and tofu in clay pot This dish has a very meaty texture because of the mushroom. It's very flavorful and can be on the saltier side, but it's served with rice, which helps soak up some of that salt. It's best when ordered with canh chua because that soup gives the dish a sweet and sour flavor combo and helps balance out that salt too. PHO CHAY- rice noodles, tofu, mushroom, vegetarian ham, basil, beansprout, and fried onions The pho is very light, but the broth is very sweet and aromatic. It smells just like regular pho. The meat substitutes are made of tofu and mushrooms. The different textures of tofu and various ways to cook it is really effective in achieving the different types of "meats" you would find in regular pho. It's a great substitute for the meat option. HU TIEU MI CHAY- combination of rice and egg noodles, tofu, vegetarian ham, celery, fried onion, and beansprout This broth is lighter than the pho, but still aromatic. Flavorwise, it's simpler and not as strong as the pho, but the broth is still sweet. CANH CHUA- vietnamese hot and sour soup I really love this soup because it really balances out any dish that's cooked in those clay pots and that are overly salty. It has that sweet taste. It's not really sour it just has a good tomato flavor, but in a lighter form. Love it! Service is amazing and so attentive, the restaurant is super clean, and the food is great! I've been coming back at least twice a week now and I always take different people with me. They are still working on their menu; so more items are coming out. I've tried about 80% of their menu and I haven't been disappointed.

Yelp
It was super duper delicious. My friends and I have tried lots of veggie restaurants in Bellaire area, but this place is the best. Their ingredients are so fresh and tasty; the portion is generous too; service was nice and friendly. The only downside of it is you wait for ever to get your food on the table because they are being lack of staff now. It took 40 mins for our first visit. Besides that, I cannot complain about the food. I will come back more and more because I love this place so bad. Hopefully they can keep up with their consistency.

Yelp
Upgrading my rating to a five star because I've found myself coming back on a regular basis now. The food is prepared consistently. The service is faster than during grand opening. My favorite things to order here are the Bun Bo Hue Chay and Bi Cuon (spring rolls).

Yelp
Amazing food! Everything here is delicious, would highly recommend for anyone. As a vegetarian, I haven't gotten to explore Vietnamese food much, so this was quite a delight.

Yelp
I found this wonderful vegetarian/vegan Vietnamese on Happy Cow. I ordered the Vermicelli combo. Just the right portion of noodles and veggies with generous serving of fried egg roll that's to die for. The sauce is really delicious and complement the whole dish. I also ordered the pho, caramelised fish hotpot and crispy tofu in chili sauce. I had such a wonderful meal! Place is immaculate and beautifully decorated. The servers even wear uniforms.

Yelp
Excellent food! We ordered the caramelized eggplant (Ca Tim Kho Hung), spring rolls and Bun Hue Chay. The last item was fragrant, and spicy! They serve it with a small container of minced chili which is fiery! The eggplant was sweet and delicious. The spring rolls were redolent with mint and basil. Lucky find that I picked randomly on the internet. I can't get over the amount of flavor they packed into the soup broth without using meat! Portions were enormous! We got takeout. Go there!

Yelp
So so good!!! Everything we ordered was completely vegan and absolutely did not lack flavor. We are absolutely planning on returning here
