Cuna - Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Inside The Standard East Village, Cuna is a Mexican restaurant run by a chef who has worked at restaurants in CDMX and Cabo. The menu will feature dishes like grilled Mayan octopus with black beans and mole, and a yellowfin tuna tostada with grilled pineapple. They will also open a bar next door, called Cuna Bar." - Willa Moore

Best Christmas Pop-Up Bars in NYC | Eater NY

"This year’s holiday pop-up at the Standard Hotel has a New York Italian comfort food vibe called Feste. Chef Angela Bazan offers favorite dishes like eggplant Parm and molto arancini at the restaurant decorated with red checkered tablecloths and festive holiday trimmings. In addition, there are several special dinners during the season, including the Feast of the Seven Fishes and a New Year’s celebration. Feste is open November 22 through December 31 and reservations are available through Resy." - Eater Staff

The Best New Restaurants in NYC

"Chef Maycoll Calderón’s takeover of the restaurant inside the Standard, East Village, delivers a coastal-Mexican, seafood-heavy menu where a yellowfin-tuna tostada is a standout; I also liked a $9 beef taco on a flour tortilla topped with a crisp layer of Chihuahua cheese cradling grilled slices of Wagyu. The dining room is shut off from the street except for an internal plaza, which makes you forget you’re steps from NYU, and a mezcal horchata only heightens that sense of distance." - Grub Street

The food here was great; the steak taco, the popcorn dessert, and hamachi were my fav. But the drinks!? NEXT LEVEL. Every drink was so unique with flavor. Everyone loved the popsicle drinks but I thought the others had more flavor. A must go.

Cuna was quite the experience Friday night. We arrived as a party of four with reservations and were promptly seated. Do be aware there are two sections. At first, we made the mistake of sitting at the lounge section, which has a different food and cocktail menu from the “dinner” section. We were escorted to the dining area and the ambiance was absolutely sophisticated and daring, with outdoor for the summer. It was not as packed for a Friday night but slowly became so. I ordered the wagyu NY strip medium rare which was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderfully. For my cocktails, I had the sophisticated Milk + Mischief as well as the popsicle margarita which was delicious and decadent. The rest of the party had (ironically) the pork milanese dish which was cooked crispy to perfection and abundant in taste. All enjoyed their dishes, as well as their cocktails. The waiter was phenomenal, I do forget his name, but he added a layer of greatness to our dining experience.

Fabulous new restaurant and separate lounge from chef Maycoll Calderón. I had the Folk Singer, a refreshing mezcal cocktail and the Yellowfin Tuna Tostada which both hit the spot. Great ambiance and service on top!

I need to stop listening to influencers. The atmosphere was pretty and trendy and the cocktails were yummy. The food was simply okay. Spent $400 for dinner and drinks for 2. We had multiple rounds of cocktails, apps and desert, so we tried a lot of dishes and most were good, but we’ve had better. The highlights were the cocktails and tuna tartare. I also liked the romaine head, a fun twist on a Caesar salad. My husband said his favorite was the steak tacos. The lows were the entrees. For $60 I expected a nice steak, but it was chewy and the fat was not rendered. It really needed the mole sauce to taste flavorful. The arroz con pollo needed salt and the rice was undercooked. If you’re coming for the pop up, I’d skip and save your money.

Such a lovely dinner I had last night. From the moment I walked in it was lovely service and the food was to die for! I went to the Roma ciudad de Mexico location in 2018. And have been a fan since. This pop up is so exciting. Every single dish was delightful. We were a part of four and got four aos and to entrees and we were stuffed so we split one desert.

Google
Amazing staff and food experience all around. The attention to kindness and details was incredible. Henry the manager treated us like royalty. Erwin our server was beyond special. Stay at The Standard every two weeks and love this hotel and staff.

Beautiful small pop up. On the pricier side, but food was great. Streak tacos were our favorite
