"Hypnotic is now one of the longest-running designer doughnut spots in DFW. Come to try the Canadian Healthcare, a long bar doughnut topped with maple glaze and a strip of candied bacon." - Courtney E. Smith

"This is our favorite doughnut shop. We've bonded with [owner] Rena Kim and her family over the years. They have the best apple fritter in town. I hate saying that because they sell out every time I post about it — they only make so many. If I don't get there early enough on the weekends, they're gone. They're fresh, fried, and full of apples. We also love their fun doughnuts that are seasonal. Sometimes, they'll hand you a bag of doughnut holes in addition to your order. And they have my cookbooks on display, which is sweet." - Courtney E. Smith

"So much more than just a doughnut shop, Hypnotic churns out funky specialty doughnuts and massive biscuit sandwiches while serving as a community hub. Locals love the Canadian Healthcare (a long john topped with syrup, maple icing and a strip of bacon) and the Amy (a chicken biscuit with bacon, pickles, southwest spicy mustard, cheddar and honey). Call the shop at 214.668.6999 to order after browsing the menu on the Hypnotic Donuts website." - Rachel Pinn

10 out of 10 recommend! We tried several donuts and one biscuit. But it was all looking amazing! The owner is a cool dude who came out and talked with us and shares some stories. Also get the Hero! 100% of profits go to Vets!

Google
My wife I tried this place for the first Time and the food is amazing! The chicken is so crispy and juicy, the biscuit is very soft. We ordered the Jim and The Nashville (I love spicy food, and the Nashville hot is sooo good). The price was $8,50 for the Nashville and $4,50 for the Jim and it is worth it (they are HUGE!). I really enjoyed and recommend this place.

Super delicious donuts. The owner is so kind and a gentleman. I enjoy interacting with him and watching him engage with other customers. The chicken biscuit was amazing. I enjoyed bringing my family here.

Hadn’t been here since college. Such unique donut combinations available. Super friendly staff that was helpful when selecting. I got quite a few different one’s, from a maple bacon eclair, to a blueberry fritter, to an espresso pistachio cream donut. They were fantastic. I also ordered a couple different chicken sandwiches from the menu, the Nashville hot one and the Kaye. Both were ok, the biscuit was really dry and chicken didn’t have much seasoning of flavor. Overall a good spot for donuts, wouldn’t have the chicken again.

We were very overwhelmed with all the choices, but the staff took care of us! They were very patient and took the time to tell us about their donuts and biscuits. The owner told us he handpicks his ingredients, such as homemade jam and free-range chicken, and you can really tell in the quality of the food. Amazing Nashville hot chicken biscuit! The chicken was hot, moist, and perfectly seasoned. The glazed blueberry cake donut was delicious. We will be coming back!

Google
I was a little let down when I stopped to pick up donuts. This place was really nothing special.... a counter, a cooler, 1 employee, and donuts that are $3.50 each. The donuts were unique but no better than donuts from other places. The picture for the shop on here has a line out the door. This was not the case. I was the only person there at 9am.

Google
I used to come here all the time, but its changed. Was in one to two weeks ago with my bf, and it wasn’t until the shorter lady in the front took my order and had an attitude with me for no apparent reason. The food isn’t that good to deal with high prices and disrespectful workers. I would not recommend.

Google
The chicken biscuits are delicious! They have a variety of flavors to choose from. The donuts are flavorful. They always have seasonal/rotating options. So fresh and jams made from scratch. This isn't your typical donut shop. The owner is so friendly. We have a great experience everytime we go. They recently changed the furniture and their look inside. It looks great. More importantly the food is still delicious and satisfying which is why we really go.

Yelp
Went into Hypnotic because i was running an errand near by. the inside is clean and chill, what you would expect from a donut shop. the glass was filled with all kinds of tasty treats, but i opted for some classics: half dozen : 3 glaze, 2 chocolate covered, and 1 sprinkle. and i ordered one of the artisanal ones: the strawberry tres leches. the service was friendly and welcoming so absolutely no complaints there... why 3 stars you ask? well the regular donuts were lackluster, they did not have a airy dough feeling that i love in a donut. so they were dense. also.. the glaze melted?? idk maybe i dont understand something... but usually the glaze keeps a lil crunch right? ya'll tell me. the strawberry tres leches donut had a great flavor palette, but was very heavy. therefore, this would make an excellent desert. my only critique of this donut is that they should use the freshed fresh freshhhh strawberries... the strawberries on the donut were a little brown. if you're in the neighborhood, check them out and see for yourself!

Kelly S.

Yelp
I will say- not the biggest donut fan but i loved this place! I love that they have sweet and savory options. We had a tres leches and chocolate cake donut, jalapeño kolache and chicken biscuit. I am obsessed either way the tres leches donut- it was so yummy! My biggest problem with donuts is that they're always overly sweet but this wasn't. It was so good. Love the strawberries and cream on top. I could eat it every day. The biscuit i got was the kaye with pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, cream cheese and chicken. Omg was it delish and huge. The biscuit was so fresh and soft- no dry biscuit here. This is a great place to stop before or after the arboretum- its only 2 min down the road. Will definitely be back. The shop looks like it was decorated by a college student and is kind of funky, but there is some Cute artwork on the walls. The folks working there were very friendly. (I dont find that as much with younger folks so was pleasantly surprised.)

Yelp
Hadn't been here since college. Such unique donut combinations available. Nice little space inside to sit and eat. Super friendly staff that was helpful when selecting. I got quite a few different one's, from a maple bacon eclair, to a blueberry fritter, to an espresso pistachio cream donut. They were fantastic. I also ordered a couple different chicken sandwiches from the menu, the Nashville hot one and the Kaye. Both were ok, the biscuit was really dry and chicken didn't have much seasoning of flavor. Yelp
These donuts are beyond delicious! The owner, a true gentleman, adds an extra layer of warmth to the experience. His kindness shines through as he interacts with customers, making every visit memorable. And let's not forget about the chicken biscuit--simply amazing! It's been a joy to bring my family here and share in the wonderful atmosphere.

Yelp
I was with my granddaughter and it was time for breakfast and guess what she wanted? Yes, donuts. I pulled up Yelp as I sipped my Grande coffee at the Starbucks and found a shop ,id bookmarked several years ago. When it opened there was a lot of fanfare around Hypnotic donuts. I think the trendiness of the Over-the-Top donut has died down and it's indicated by the less than exciting atmosphere and selection at Hypnotic! Unfortunately, I didn't get by here before so I don't know what to compare it to but, I ill say, I didn't see, smell or taste anything extraordinary. However, there are some positives. I ordered an eclair and it turned out to be substantially better than the average Americanized thing we cal eclairs these days. The underlying donut itself had a unique crispness and flavor to it that surprised me. The cream filling wasn't that goopy yuck used at most donut shops these days. The chocolate was also above average. My granddaughter got the donut holes and she said they were good. The decor of the place is kitschy and the service was good. Overall no reason to go out of your way for this one though.

Caitlyn R.

Yelp
The donuts here are GREAT and I would definitely recommend any of them. Based on donut quality and presentation this place gets a 5/5. The service here is also good. People greeted us as soon as we walked in and patiently walked us through the menu since it was our first time! The only reason I'm giving a 4/5 is because their chicken sandwiches have room for improvement. I ordered the Kaye Chicken Sammie and the flavor was pretty good but it was SO DRY. Between the dryness of the biscuit and heavily breaded chicken, it was too much. I ate less than half because I ran out of coffee to rinse it down with.

Yelp
This was a super cute little donut shop that is close to the Dallas Arboretum. Be sure to stop by if you're in the area! Located in a strip mall, the store has ample parking out front. The menu is on the right wall as you enter, with the display of goodies straight ahead. There was a bit of a line when we got there, but the line moved quickly. I picked out three donuts to try: Banana Foster, Strawberry Sprinkle, and Bavarian the Barbarian. They were all deliciously fluffy, but my favorite of the bunch was the Bavarian the Barbarian. (You can't go wrong with the Bavarian creme-filled donut!) They also offer other breakfast items, including biscuit sandwiches & kolaches, and of course there are coffee & other drink options. Overall, a cozy donut shop with yummy options to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Mari B.

Yelp
So glad we stopped in at Hypnotic Donuts! Very welcoming staff when you walk in the door! Great selection of donuts and biscuits! Also had two Kolaches to choose from! Donut holes were awesome - not heavy or two sweet. Kolache was fantastic! Apple fritter was delicious! Grabbed a coffee next door and they have a few tables outside, which was nice!

Teresa M.

Yelp
Lovely neighborhood donut shop near the Dallas Arboretum that totally hit the spot for a sweet treat. I had dropped off my teens for an outing at the Dallas Arboretum and was glad I stopped by. The employees were genuinely friendly and the interior is cozy and welcoming. There was a steady stream of customers who dined in line myself. The owner was in the midst of trying to hang blinking lights from the ceiling as a fun, whimsical addition to the decor. He didn't miss a beat, and after wearing the hat of being a lights installer, he switched back to the counter to warmly greet customers while explaining the menu items and selling his donuts. The signature item is the Homer donut (strawberry glazed with sprinkles). I had a sausage biscuit with gravy that was delicious, and I got a chocolate eclair to go for my daughter. Thank you Hypnotic Donuts for the yummy breakfast I enjoyed this morning!

Nety D.

Yelp
I didn't try the donuts but got the biscuit with grape jam and added chicken to it. Was a little pricey at almost $10 for this and saw the speciality donuts were about $4. The chicken breast was huge and freshly fried so that helped make up for the $10 because it was filling. The place was small but has tables if you want to sit and the cashier was nice and helpful as well. Overall really good and would come again to give their donuts a try!

Jose R.

Yelp
The donut shop is alright, but I have a preference for more traditional options; simplicity tends to appeal to me. I'd suggest grabbing a donut here and then heading next door to LDU for some excellent coffee to complement it.

Remy V.

Yelp
I stopped by around 10:30am because I got my car serviced not too far away. It said they closed at 12pm so I figured that there may not be much left. I was right lol, but they had enough for me to get a few donuts to take home. I got an Apple fritter, 2 blueberry cake donuts, and a maple bacon. The blueberry cake was ok. I've had blueberry cake donuts before and they weren't pink inside, so I assume food coloring is added to make it that color. It wasn't as flavorful as I had expected - underwhelming to sum it up. My husband enjoyed the maple bacon - he said the taste reminded him of a breakfast sandwich. I had one bite and it was a good balance of sweet and savory. I paid $9.70 for 4 donuts - I'm not sure if that's a decent price for donuts these days since I rarely eat them - but I thought that was high. I wasn't really impressed with this place but the owner was very nice.

Lorens P.

Yelp
A California based donut shop that I didn't enjoy as much as other people. The donuts were drier than I'd like them to be but they had some interesting flavors and toppings..

Ivan G.

Yelp
You cannot go wrong with some hypnotic...the donuts and biscuits are scratch made and are delicious. Came in for some breakfast for the family and didn't want your "typical" donut shop so hypnotic came kind. I ordered the Marabeth wish is a scratch made biscuit with chicken tater tots and covered in white gravy. I got my daughter the Nashville biscuit which is self explanatory and was very good as well. This time I chose to get the evil Elvis I believe. Glazed Donut topped with peanut butter, bacon and bananas and might I say it did not disappoint.

Nolan F.

Yelp
Solid, average donuts with nice service. I think the biscuits shine more than the donuts. The biscuits are wonderfully soft and the fried chicken had good flavor, crispiness, and tenderness. Come here for breakfast or lunch before going to the Arboretum!

Samantha T.

Yelp
Rarely give 5 stars but this place is great. Chicken biscuits are wonderful. Really great donut options and they introduce new items regularly. Need to get back here!

Joel K.

Yelp
Every time I've been here I always walk away happy. This place deals in more than just donuts and chicken biscuits, they spread happiness in the form of caloric joy. Hoard every calorie you can... hoard like your life depends on it. They have an amazing spread of cake and yeast based donuts. Don't forget to order the Chicken Biscuits as well. I enjoy the classic Olivia style chicken biscuit with just honey. The chicken is tender and crispy. Biscuits are soft and pillowy. Definitely worth the purchase. Easily some of the best donuts in the DFW area. The Evil Elvis with peanut butter, bacon, and bananas is insane. One of the best donuts I've had. Canadian Healthcare is amazing too. I suppose I just enjoy bacon in general. All the yeast based donuts have a good chew to them that make them amazing. The cake based donuts are perfectly prepared and aren't rough to eat or falling apart. They're just right. Definitely make the trip if you're in the area or make the trip even if you're not.

Fatima C.

Yelp
I've only had the glazed donuts which are so good and a nice treat. Definitely better than the larger commercial chains. Coming here on the weekends are such as delight!

Taylor D.

Yelp
Amazing staff!!! delicious and inventive donuts. Pistachio donut was soft and not too sweet. That is my favorite!

Elaine M.

Yelp
Seriously best donuts in DFW. Not only do they have unique, totally instaworthy donuts, they are finger licking, eat every single crumb good. We went after a bike ride around White Rock Lake and a little regretting we didn't hit this place up first before the bike ride. There wasn't a huge selection by the time we got there, but honestly, the flavors we got, were so good, no one was complaining. We'll be back next time (earlier to try to grab some different flavors!) and also to try some of their chicken biscuit sandwiches, which we had no idea they had them! Who knew?

Sherene A.

Yelp
Limited menu during vivid means no vegan options. Their biscuit options look so delicious. Staff is incredibly helpful and kind I got one chocolate sprinkle donut, two plain donuts and one jalapeño kolache. Everything was delicious!

Julie T.

Yelp
Walked across this little neat shop as a customer was getting into their car, they yelled out, "If you're considering on going in, you should go in now before they close! It's worth it." And it was worth it! The decor, the customer service, the DONUTS! The folks that run the shop are sweet themselves. The donuts themselves are very picture worthy prior to eating them. Delicious is all I can say. Pair it with a good cup of coffee or milk, and I have a big smile on my face.

April F.

Yelp
Really loved the vibe - older gentleman was very fun and kind - first time and we had to try the chicken biscuits- they are delicious and pretty big! Also, we tried a few donuts - one with pistachios and the other Carmel was very good!

Keela B.

Yelp
Overpriced below average donuts. Second time trying them. I got the purple haze and the pb and c $8. Both were just ok. I just wish they put some effort in making the flavors pop like the names do.

Denim B.

Yelp
For the price it was ok. The chicken sandwich was pretty dry and the donuts are just to hyped up. They weren't that good. But they are on

Melisa A.

Yelp
Super over priced. They do have some really neat choices but for a plain donut way too expensive. The biscuit on my sandwich was really good. I got the Katie.. I think that's what it was called. Chicken with cream cheese and pepper jack cheese and jalapeño. X2 Three pigs in a blanket Two blueberry Two plain Two choc donuts One espresso donut $44! No drinks... that's just too much $$$ Definitely not worth the money. They were super busy and unfriendly. The floors were dirty all the tables were dirty. At that price this place needs to be better kept and customer service needs to worked on. I felt like I was an inconvenience being there. $44 on donuts ya better smile. At least be friendly.

Lily C.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday morning, short line that moved so fast and our chicken biscuits came out within 10 minutes! Had the best service and although the employee at the counter had been working all morning he was hilarious, kind and made our morning! I want to go back again already! Every single thing we got was delicious and we finished it all in one day!

Samantha H.

Yelp
If you're looking for over the top donut concoctions, this is the place. If you're looking to chill out with a nice coffee and a friend, maybe stop at a coffee place first and then take your donuts to go. --Drive around the corner to Winfrey Point and grab a bench overlooking the Dallas skyline.

Erin B.

Yelp
They homemade chicken biscuits are amazing!!!! Fresh and not lacking in substance. You get a full sized fresh fried church breast on a large fresh from scratch biscuit. The donuts are creative and delicious as well. The vibe is relaxed and the food is delicious, give it a try!

Anna P.

Yelp
I love the food even though it's not diabetic friendly lol. It's a great place to take visiting family and those that have never been there. A once in a lifetime experience. Ambience is good just wish that had more seating inside.

Rick B.

Yelp
Not your normal donut shop; choices include an array of chicken/biscuit style donuts, as well as unusual specialty donuts - like the Breaking Bad Donut! My Chocolate Dream had choco topping on a moist chocolate cake donut - PERFECT! My wife loved her assortment of sprinkled donuts. Plenty of room to eat at the outdoor tables, very nice set up!

Jeff M.

Yelp
Best donuts and chicken biscuits in the city. In the Metroplex, even. Any time I'm within 50 miles, I'm stopping here. Favorites include Evil Elvis, Bavarian the Barbarian, and an Amy's Chicken Biscuit.

Krystal T.

Yelp
AM I serious!?! I thought I had a review writing out years ago. Well, let me say that this is one of my favorite donut places. My favorite is the coconut cream and cinnamon rolls. I've tried many of their popular ones but these are my absolute favorites! I've had the biscuits and I prefer them separately. Because the hot biscuit and chicken together makes the chicken biscuit like a clag in my mouth. I have enjoyed everything I've eaten here. If I didn't enjoy it, it turned out to be a learning experience. Keep up the good work donut folk!

Mya H.

Yelp
Donuts Donuts Donuts! "We all scream for donuts" At least I did when I was a kid. Hypnotic Donuts are irresistible and different than some of your average donut shops. They have a variety of donuts with a twist, to choose from. The Canadian healthcare was soft and flaky, with a nice combination of sweet and salty with just the right about of glaze. Other popular options to choose from are evil Elvis which will be next to try and the fritters. The chicken biscuit sandwich was good from what my hubs said. Since I'm not much of a sweet eater, I'll make sure I'll stop by here again for my kiddos a yummy sweet treat.

Jimmy K.

Yelp
Great place in East Dallas for a donut or chicken biscuit. Their selection is a bit small, but should have something for most everyone. The Canadian healthcare had great flavor!

Matt P.

Yelp
One of the greatest realizations during the pandemic was that Hypnotic Donuts was on Uber Eats. How did the universe not command this news to my ears? If you have no shame, go Elvis. It will leave a rock in your stomach but totally worth it. And their pistachio donut is peak instagram vibes. Order a box and surprise your loved ones with a little something sweet in the morning

Jane L.

Yelp
Not your typical donut, that's what makes it worth the short drive to pick these up. I love going into a place with personality and not the assembly line feel.

F. A.

Yelp
I tried Hypnotic Donuts because I heard they carried Dairy Free donuts on weekends. I can't consume Dairy and if you read my review of Voodoo Donuts in Austin, which also do offer vegan donuts, you'll see why my bar is pretty high. I assumed i'd have at least somewhat of a similar experience but I believe they just swapped the dairy for pure water. The donuts are dry and tasteless, tasted like chalk. It didn't have the nice "sponginess" i expect from yeast donuts. For the first time in my life I just threw away a box of donuts, I really didn't see the point in consuming them. I didn't try the regular ones so this review is only for the vegan ones. Absolutely horrendous. They should take a trip to Austin and take a few notes from the shops there.

Scott B.

Yelp
Interesting little donut shop. Friendly server. They have a comparatively smaller selection of donuts than most donut shops, but they are pretty original. I liked my banana cream and "applely ever after" donuts.

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
It is always all about trying to find and in having a new and memorable donut on June 1st for me. Well, on 2018, it was here with their "Evil Elvis"! OMG, where do I start .. Groovy, Peace, and Love, it was as I stepped through their door 15 minutes before closing. Funky murals, donut pillows, and, as expected, almost bare was their display case. OH BOY ... Within a second, I asked if they had any "Evil Elvis" left. No, was the initial answer. Maybe it was seeing the disappointment in my face, they then said "wait" and checked at back, which turned out that the kitchen said "yes" in making IT for me. WHAO ... For "Some things are meant to be" with me being a "fool" rushing in with my delicious bites of donut, peanut butter, bacon, bananas, and honey of "Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love" ... *wink* CHEERS!

Kevin A.

Yelp
Giant tasty biscuits. Super friendly staff. You can split a biscuit between two people.

Sam M.

Yelp
The donuts are good. But honestly you can get a donut anywhere. Now this chicken biscuit you can only get here! OMG SOOOOOO GOOD!

Chelsea G.

Yelp
Love their vegan offerings on weekends. We always get great, friendly service here! Thank you!

Julius Patrick V.

Yelp
I came here in 30 minutes before it closed just to grab a few donuts to snack on throughout today, and I wasn't expecting a huge selection around that time, but they did have a decent amount of donuts that I did want to pick out - a maple bar, a chocolate old fashioned, as well as a strawberry doughnut that looked interesting. The service was pretty great (props to the girl who recognized my AOT hat). I'll have to come back here earlier to try the other donuts!

Regina Fraga A.

Yelp
They have very unique options that are delicious, but a little overpriced. I recommend you check it out for the experience.

Francine F.

Yelp
Yummy donuts! Quick service! The "Jim" chicken sandwiches is to die for. I loved it. They are very over the top but in the best way possible!

Kourtney T.

Yelp
Delicious sugary goodness. Dare I say, hypnotic? Only for special occasions. The food is way too decadent and pricey for daily or even weekly consumption. Always busy, takes a while if you order a lot but it's worth it for special occasions. You can order ahead, which apparently a lot of people do (which is why it takes longer if you just walk in). But it's full of YUM!

Desiree J.

Yelp
So so good! We got a blueberry fritter, blueberry cake, salted caramel, regular glaze and pistachio. I'm not one to lean towards blueberry but the fritter was sooo good! It was almost like a funnel cake and I mean who doesn't love that. I wish the salted caramel had just a little more salt, cuz the salty bites were the best but the caramel was perfectly sweet. And I personally like a plain glazed and this one reminded me of a favorite from growing up! So fluffy and perfect. I will definitely be keeping them top of mind for future orders!

Mary N.

Yelp
Very very underwhelmed by this place. I got a chicken sandwich and some donuts and couldn't finish it all because of the taste. It was overly sweet and tasted old. The donut didn't taste airy and fresh but as if it was there for a day. The biscuit sandwich was just like a generic one. It tasted better than the donut for sure. Such high reviews but they didn't execute on their products.
