Il Casaro Pizzeria & Mozzarella Bar - Review - North Beach - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"You must get the burrata when you eat at (or order from) this North Beach Italian spot. It’s imported and phenomenal, just like Tsukiji Market tuna and Celine Dion. Pizza-wise, the broccoli and salsiccia is our favorite pie here." - Taylor Abrams

The food here is so freaking good. We ordered meatballs, burrata, pizza, cannoli, and panna cotta. Everything was expertly prepared and extraordinary delicious. Our Every dish entered the clean plate club. We are really looking forward to coming back and trying more things from their menu.

The pizza here was good — not amazing, but definitely enjoyable. To be fair, I’m from Berlin where there are a lot of excellent pizza places, so my standards might be a bit high. Compared to what I’m used to, this wasn’t better, but it was still a solid choice if you’re in the area and craving Italian food. I had the Montepulciano wine, which was very good. I sat outside, and they had heaters, so it was comfortable even in cooler weather. The staff was very friendly as well. Overall, a solid option for a casual Italian meal.

Google
Incredible lunch! Buffalo Pizza super light and tasty - chilis and Calabrian chili oil on the side . Beet salad a perfect complement. Service impeccable (everything just quietly arrives). Atmosphere gets a 4 because a group of Italian men jostled one of us one too many times as they were optimizing their futobol viewing :-). So good!

Girl math is Friday Night + North Beach = Pizza. There's no better equation. My friends and I had gone to see our friend and her band perform earlier in the evening. Afterwards, we headed to Il Casaro for pizza. After two sweet drinks, I was craving something spicy. So I got the Diavola, which came with a spicy salami, Calabrian chili, and a spicy oil. And it satisfied my craving! It was spicy, but not so much where it masked all the flavors of the pizza. The crust was nicely doughy with a good char from the oven. I also got to try my friend's prosciutto pizza and that was also delicious. It was perfectly salty and the bitterness from the arugula balanced it. Service was great! We got seated right away and our food came out quickly. Since it was Friday night, the vibes inside were lively, but not so loud where you couldn't have a conversation at your table. I'll need to come back to try the items under the Mozzarella Bar menu.

Google
This is one of my go-to spots in San Francisco. I’ve probably been here 20 times or more. There’s so much good pizza in North Beach, but this one really feels authentic. I usually get their marinara though their pasta is also excellent. I especially love the pesto pasta. The restaurant has cute outdoor seating, and while they don’t take reservations, I usually find a spot easily. It’s perfect for big groups or a romantic date night. For me, this is a reliable, safe bet that’s always a great experience.

Google
What a great place. Plenty of options for my vegetarian friend. She had the Margherita pizza and a salad. I had some of both. Salad was great. Pizza was fine, but I am not a fan of that type of pizza. My friend liked it. I had one of there lasagna dishes. It was very good. Definitely want to go back and try more dishes.

Google
We ate here on 11/8, we were looking for an authentic Italian meal in sf and stumbled upon this amazing restaurant! We ordered the classics: pizza margherita, pasta, salad and red wine. Everything was delicious and the service was great, I would highly recommend this place to any tourist passing by 👌🏻

Fast, friendly service. Food was great! Tonno & Cipolla pizza (tuna pizza!) was the standout. Unique & delicious!

Yelp
Came here late at night and luckily the wait was not bad. They offered to turn on the heater for us while we waited outside. It was an extra dollar to add tomato sauce to the pizza instead of having no sauce and I think it was worth it. The pizza was so good! Service is pretty quick even if it's busy.

Yelp
Went in on Monday for late lunch and there was no one! Service was prompt, pizza and salad were good! They all came out super fast too.

Yelp
Been to Il Casaro a few times now and it's always a great meal. Service is friendly and fast. Food comes super quickly, especially the pizzas. Food is delicious and generously portioned. There are tons of tables inside and outside, as well as a few bar seats where you can watch them make the pizzas. Every time I've come, Il Casaro has been pretty packed, but we only had to wait for our table once (for less than 10 minutes). One downside is that because they're so busy, the restaurant can get quite loud - probably not the best spot if you're looking for a quiet/intimate date night or a place to do a ton of talking/catching up. One time, we were seated next to a large party, and because of how loud they were + how close together our tables were, we could barely hear each other despite shouting until our throats hurt.

Yelp
It was great but a bit pricey but in little Italy what can you do. The food did come out very quickly

Yelp
It is a small place, however, the food was amazing, so good. We also got an Italian wine bottle that was delish (no hungover feel). We were a group of 4. The service was great all staff were so attentive. I loved it when our waiter spoke Italian... I have a long way to learn Italian. Everything was great. The vibe was very Italian with the brick oven,...

Yelp
Il Casaro Pizzeria & Mozzarella Bar opened in March 2014. It was founded by Francesco Covucci and Peter Fazio and quickly gained a reputation for its authentic Neapolitan-style pizza. Covucci is a well-known figure in the North Beach restaurant scene. The name "Il Casaro" means "the cheese maker" in Italian and is meant to highlight the restaurant's impressive mozzarella bar, which offers imported mozzarella di bufala, fior di latte, and burrata. I visited Il Casaro a few times after it opened, but I stopped going there for no reason, perhaps just a change of habit. We decided to go there for a meal on this day, and I am glad we did. The restaurant emphasizes using traditional ingredients and methods. They make their Neapolitan-style pizzas with Caputo flour and San Marzano D.O.P. tomatoes, which are imported from Italy. The pizzas are baked in a wood-burning oven brought in from Naples, giving them a distinctive smoky flavor. I learned that Il Casaro is certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, ensuring that every pizza meets strict standards of tradition. All of this, along with their high quality and authenticity, has made Il Casaro a popular spot in North Beach. When we arrived, we were very warmly welcomed and led to a table inside. Our server was a very friendly, always smiling young man who patiently waited for us to decide. We decided to share a few dishes, starting with a Beet Salad and an Imported Burrata salad. I also ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio. Both the Beet Salad and the Burrata salad were delicious. For pizza, we shared a Prosciutto, which was absolutely incredible. I couldn't leave without trying their Tiramisu, and I'm glad we did -- it was perfect! The place was filling up as we left, and the atmosphere was already lively. If you're in North Beach and craving traditional Neapolitan pizza, visit Il Casaro Pizzeria & Mozzarella Bar--you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Came here on a whim while wandering around Chinatown and Little Italy. Place was a little empty when I came in, but saw the raving reviews for its pizza so we had to give it a shot. We were seated immediately around 5:30pm on a Saturday. I ordered an Imported Buffalo Mozzarella, a Prosciutto and Diavola. The Buffalo Mozzarella was served with 5 pieces of dough and fresh mozzarella cheese, with some aragula and tomatoes. A tasty starter, but I'm not sure if it's worth the price tag given it's just dough with some cheese. The Prosciutto lacked a little flavor without the salami, but otherwise you could really taste how fresh the dough was (then again you had guys literally spinning dough in the kitchen). The Diavola was basically a spicy pepperoni pizza with some chili oil from Italy. The main difference this place has over other pizza places is how light the pizza feels in comparison - they are thin and not oily/heavy compared to American counterparts. The dough tastes and feels very fresh, and you can definitely taste a difference between this shop's dough and others. The pizza oven they have only adds to the pizza flavor. For the price, the pizza size, and freshness the price is very competitive to the saturated SF pizza shops. Service was a little inattentive since I waited a good amount of time before even getting my tap water. Like others said, nothing really memorable but a decent spot to have a quick meal.

Yelp
First visit was great for Friendsgiving dinner! Went on a Saturday night, staff were friendly and attentive. The food was good, the table ordered pizzas & pastas. We were able to sub some of the meats on the pizza. Inside wasn't too loud, but they also have outside seating. Would visit again!

Yelp
Saturday night and this place was hopping! The host was really helpful, even though they were pretty full. They had a couple of options but we preferred an inside table (it was pretty windy outside) so they thought maybe 5 minutes, but it ended up being 2 minutes! Three of us decided to split items - we started with the imported burrata (they are a mozzarella bar!) and eggplant meatballs. The burrata was amazing - nice and creamy with some pizza dough bread triangles, along with some nice side greens. The meatballs were good meatballs, just not as much of an eggplant flavor as I would have expected. We went with the prosciutto pizza and the Bucatini Amatriciana. The pizza had a soft thin crust with a little bit of chew and a slight smoky flavor from the wood fired oven. The pizza had prosciutto, arugula and parmesan added after coming out of the oven, which preserved the topping textures very well! The Bucatini Amatriciana had a great deep tomato flavor. Extra kudos to the staff - when one of us was finished with the pasta but enjoying the sauce, a wait person asked if we wanted some bread. A few minutes later, some fresh pizza dough bread was delivered to our table! We also shared a tiramisu, which was a nice end to the dinner. I know there are variable restaurants in the North Beach area, but this place is nice find.

Yelp
We went on a Friday for happy hour, and no one was at the restaurant so we got seated pretty quickly. We ordered a few margherita pizzas and some drinks. The food was nothing special, but a pretty good price for HH.

Yelp
If I had to pick one pizza that not only sparks joy but satiates my soul, it would have to be the Diavola at Il Casaro. I've been here several times and have had the opportunity to try several items. But the Diavola and the panna cotta have been a fixture each time. The spicy Calabrian chili and oil, and the overload of meat on the freshest yummiest bread makes for a perfect mouthful each time. Their meatballs in tomato sauce is delish too. Fresh. I can't help but end my meal with their panna cotta (or two), which has stayed consistently good over the years. Il Casaro is one of these places that have stood the test of time. It's always super busy, the small space is always brimming with people, but the servers and the food make up for the chaos!

Yelp
Food: Calamari was nice and smokey. Prosciutto pizza was great and not too salty. Pro Tip: drizzle some Calabrian chili oil on top, you won't regret it. Carbonara was great on the first bite but cooled down way too quickly. Service was pretty hectic and the restaurant was crowded when we went.

Yelp
The service was great. Really fast and great recommendations. The vibe was very chill it on a busy street so you see all kinds of people. The food was amazing. Would definitely go back. We ordered the carbonara 10/10 a pizza 10/10 and the grilled calamari it was a little too fishy for me but my husband loved it. They don't have ranch lol but they do you have lots of spicy sauce options.
google avatar

Denise N.

Yelp
Omg! The pizza is so delicious! The place gets busy. We visited on a Friday night. This was my second visit and it occurred to me I did not post a review on yelp. Service is wonderful, pizza is off the hook, the restaurant isn't that big, but they handled the crowd very well. There is outside seating available too.

Yelp
Stopped by Il Casaro for a quick bite and was impressed by how fast the service was -- our food came out within minutes. Prices are definitely affordable, especially for a sit-down spot in the city. That said, portions were on the smaller side, so if you're really hungry, you might want to order more than one dish. I had the Margherita pizza, which looked promising but ended up being a bit underwhelming. It lacked basil, and overall felt a little bland. The crust was *super* thin though -- if you're into that style, you'll probably enjoy it. Overall, not a bad experience, just not super memorable. Good for a quick, casual meal if you're in the area.

Yelp
I saw some very good reviews for this place from my Yelp friends I follow. I felt a very lively vibe as we walked in. We were greater and seated promptly. Friendly servers came right away to take our drink order. Someone else came by asking to explain if we had questions on the menu. I planned on getting the Margherita Pizza as it appeared to be the most popular item according to Yelp. We also ordered the Insalata Romana after hearing that the other salad option may be more salty. Once we ordered, we were setting up to receive our food. We noticed broken dishes on the table... Both dishes were broken. See my photos. This was quite surprising... I expected more from this place. The Insalata Romana was very good... Very light dressing and very refreshing. This was a good choice. I would have like a little bigger portion as a meal. The Margherita Pizza was good too. I felt maybe there wasn't enough mozzarella.... See my photo and judge for yourself. The service was great all the way thru and servers were friendly. They don't have to do much to upgrade my rating to 4+ stars. Replace the broken dishes, and be generous with the cheese. I expected this especially based on the name of this place. I hope to try again on my next visit to the City.

Yelp
I love that they serve authentic pizza here. I have Ben's to Italy many times and I It feels like Italy in this restaurant. I loved it. The service was a bit slow, but I didn't mind. After all I don't want to rush my dinner.
google avatar

Audry S.

Yelp
Honestly, I was very surprised how well this pizza came out. I feel like many of the restaurants in little Italy are tourist traps and I thought this restaurant would be one of them, but I'm happy to say I stand corrected. They have a wood fire oven inside the restaurant and it smelled like fresh baked dough when you walk into the restaurant. I was famished when I sat down to order. I came at 9 or 10 pm on Sunday night and it wasn't packed, which meant I sat down fairly quickly. I ordered the ll casaro because I wanted mushrooms (to feel a little healthy) and prosciutto (for protein). I enjoyed my pizza, it was fresh and hot out the wood fire oven and it smelled divine. You can ask them for chili oil if you want to have a little more kick to your pizza. Personally, I would've loved my pizza more charred or crispy but I thought it was fine. It wasn't burnt at the bottom and it had a nice bite/chew to it. It held up fantastically, so you know I don't have soggy pizza! The pizza itself had a nice flavor, the mushrooms were cooked perfectly (not watery) and the prosciutto was thinly sliced to perfection. I highly recommend this pizza if you enjoy mushrooms!!! Is this the best wood fire pizza I had? No. But it's probably top 10 in my list. Give this place a try ! It's not a tourist trap, at least with the pizza. When I come back to SF I would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch and there was no wait. Service was fast and the food came out quickly. The North Beach area is very lively and there was a Lunar New Year festival going on in nearby Chinatown that day so there was a lot going on! The pizza was good and my boyfriend and I enjoyed it but they put a little too much of the calabrian chili oil on my pizza and it completely overpowered the pizza. I would recommend requesting it on the side since it has a very pungent taste and is better in smaller quantities. My boyfriend liked his pizza and we would go back if we were in the neighborhood again!

Yelp
Came to visit some family and friends here in the Bay. Met up with an old friend I used to work with and we ended up coming here. The only thing I will say sucks is finding parking because damn this place is good! The ambience was chill and friendly. We were greeted by the guy and girl at the door super friendly! We got seated right away and were brought menus. I was in the mood for some pizza so I ordered the calabrese. If you like spicy this is the one for you plus they bring you some peppers and Calabrian chili oil along with some red pepper flakes. I just want to say all that combined on your pizza is just *chefs kiss!!! The little peppers that they bring are red and green not sure what they're called but the red ones are spicy and green ones are salty, two of my favorite flavors! lol. Staff is super friendly and quick and attentive. Definitely coming back next time I am in the bay!
google avatar

Anchal A.

Yelp
I was honestly underwhelmed by the food here. Between 3, we split the roasted cauliflower and 2 diavola pizzas (subbed pepperoni for mushrooms). The food came out with a plate of chili flakes, chili oil and calabrian chilis. The cauliflower didn't have much flavor, it was roasted and lightly salted. The pizza said it would have chilis and chili oil on top, but honestly it tasted like a regular mushroom pizza and we had to top it with the chilis and oil ourselves. The ambiance is nice, it's a cozier restaurant and the servers were friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Shivangi K.

Yelp
The ambiance was great with an open kitchen layout, indoor/outdoor, and bar seating. Service was quick and friendly. We were able to stay at our table for a bit longer to chat after the bill which was nice. In terms of the food, it was good. We ordered the diavola (with mushrooms instead of salami) because we thought the Calabrian chili oil and peppers would come already on the pizza. Instead, we were just given a side dish of chilies and a bottle of oil. Similar situation with the roasted cauliflower dish we ordered. No drizzle, just plain cauliflower and very light seasoning. It just felt like we were finishing making the pizza and adding flavor to the cauliflower. It was a little underwhelming.

Yelp
We were in the city for a day of fun and my pizza snob of a husband wanted to find a place with a good pie. Seems like there are a million to choose from but we settled on Il Casaro. We parked in a nearby garage and walked a minute or two to the restaurant. Surprisingly easy for that area and how busy it was. We were greeted and seated inside right away. Both the host and the server were very nice. Husband started with their beet salad and I went with the insalata romana. For our mains, I went with their rigatoni carbonara and hubby chose their Diavola pizza. Their wood-fired pizza oven was gorgeous. Our salads were amazing. Mine was chopped romaine, toasted pine nuts, lemon, and the most amazing shaved Parmesan (sheets of it!). The dressing was so good- really tangy and bright. The pine nuts were such a great touch and complimented the citrus in the dressing. My husband loved his beet salad which was frisee, golden beets, walnuts, goat cheese, with an Apple cider dressing. They are large salads, easily shareable, and I was nearly full after completing mine. I appreciated that they served our salads first and gave us a little time to work on them before serving the pizza and pasta. My carbonara was good- still creamy and rich when served- though really, really peppery. The crispy pancetta was terrific. My husband was a tad disappointed with the pizza. The spicy salami that came on it was gamey in his opinion, and the pizza crust lacked flavor. We lamented that we hadn't ordered the margherita instead. Perhaps next time! Based on the excellent service and meal quality (aside from the salami and overpowering pepper), I think we'd be willing to give this place another try.

Yelp
First I would like to say I love North Beach and little Italy. I've grown up in the Bay Area so coming here is always a treat. Well we were walking and decided we would stop and have a pizza, a glass of wine and a beer. I noticed it was not too busy but had some customers inside and outside. Which was a nice touch to choose where to sit. Our first person who came up was a man with glasses and we thought he was the owner and asked us about water. Then afterwards a younger young lady came out to take our ordered. At the same time we ordered the margarita pizza, glass of white wine and a draft beer which we were excited to eat and drink together. We sat and enjoyed the nice winter day. The man in the glasses came out to check on us. I did notice he took a picture of us at one point which was odd. Next, our pizza came out, which was within 10 minutes. But we noticed we didn't have drinks. Nor was there a lot of basil or mozzarella cheese on our pizza and half of the crust/pizza was burnt. We started to eat Eventhough we wanted to have our drinks with our food. But the waiter and the man were not in sight. We waited and waited, no drinks, finally we had to tell the guy with the glasses and the young girl. He explained to me, "sorry and that the drinks would be completely on the house." With that being said, he also explained the girl was new and didn't know, and she came back also apologized however when she finally did bring the drinks it was dirt swirling in the glass, which happened twice, she also brought a Tiramisu cake, which we did not ask for. I thought it was a nice gesture on top of the drink comp. Lastly, when we had more apologies, she brought the bill. & I admittedly saw we got charged for the drinks. I went inside to the man whom said they'd be taken care of, and told him, he then handed over my ticket to some woman I had never seen through this whole service interaction. So, I then I had to explain to her what I was promised and told, and she asked about the wine and debris in the glass (which it was twice), I explained and she looked very annoyed. Said she check the bottle. And proceeded to comp the drinks. When I went outside with my partner we soon after were finishing our drinks. The woman comes outside, and in a rude tone, comes after us about how we got comp drinks and a cake, which remember I did not ask for! And I was told drinks would be comp for the issues we had dealt with at our diner experience. She made excuses to why the glasses kept having debris in it after she took "care of it." She made it seem we were taking advantage but we were not. She told me, "there won't be a next time." I looked at her and thought in my head, that was very uncomfortable and unprofessional as a manager of a high end restaurant to come out and press the issue when it had already been resolved. So, no, there won't be a next time. And you cannot treat customers that way. -The pizza lacks cheese and basil -wine pour was weak -service for the ones whom try to make it right. -tables are not sturdy -but the cake was good! Last note, I will not be coming back because of how she came out at the end. However, maybe your experience will be better than mine.

Yelp
Hard to believe it's been over four years since my last visit and, boy, how different it was. It was just after the world stopped in so many ways. That time, it was during the peak of shelter in place and takeout or deliveries were the only option. I was happy to be able to share it with my family including one no longer with us. Tired of dining at the usual places, I studied the menu and pics in deciding what to try on a Wednesday a little after 12:30 pm. There a couple single diners like me, one on the counter area and another at a single table like me. I initially wanted to eat at the counter (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=TxFX1lO0oLPBqbRIwcgOzQ) but the seats were hard on my legs. Given a carafe of water and a glass, a short time later, I started with the Insalata Romana (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=7n_0yzoVqpRdRW8D6pK09w). The menu describes this as Romaine lettuce hearts, roasted pine nuts, olive oil, lemon, and cheese. Refreshing and light salad where the pine nuts were the star. I also tried the bucatini Amatriciana (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=8IVEtLOAdm-gM98Cqp2WBg), which consists of tomato sauce, bacon, and Pecorino cheese. Craving a plate of spaghetti, I really enjoyed this. The tangy, spicy sauce with the pancetta pieces mixed well with the tube-y noodles. I would order this again. The portions for both were generous as I took half of both dishes home for future meals. My greeter was my waiter also and I apologize for losing my receipt in being unable to name him (taller guy with a mustache). Both he and a shorter gentleman checked on me regularly in making sure my water carafe was not low and removing empty plates and bringing me take home boxes and a bag. My lunch experience was further enhanced by enjoying tunes by Chrissy Hyndes' Back on the Chain Gang, You Can't Hurry Love (both versions, Supremes and Phil Collins), and Crocodile Rock by Elton in additional to a smattering of Italian tunes... of course. I am happy to experience Il Casaro under normal dining circumstances and will return.

Yelp
Food: Came for the pizza but left most impressed by the lasagna! A solid bite of Neapolitan pizza, but honestly you have to get the lasagna! The zucca and salsiccia lasagna was so creamy and rich--the flavor profile was not something I was expecting at all. Ambiance & service: It gets pretty busy, but walk-ins are pretty doable. The waiters were fairly attentive, but we did have to ask for a couple things. Huge plus is they are super dog friendly, letting us sit inside with our dog!

Yelp
Carbonara with pancietta $19 Prosciutto pizza $21 Saying I love the carbonara with pancietta is an understatement. It's so delicious. All the ingredients play a vital role. The saltiness of the pancietta is just right. It's compliments the parmesan. The pancietta is crispy; it adds to the texture of the dish. The Prosciutto pizza was tasty. It's a bit salty to me. I'm not sure if it's because of the combination of prosciutto and the pancietta from the carbonara that left my mouth salty, or just the pizza alone. I still recommend. My sister totally loved it. There's lots of seating outside and limited seating in the inside. This is a great restaurant for friends, family and a date.

I loved Il Casaro. Lunch was great. I did not have pizza. It is the best Italian dining in North Beach. Sitting in the window was the best. The staff was amazing. The Saloon being out the back door is the added bonus.

Yelp
One of my favorite pizzas in the city! I love sitting at the bar and watching them as they prepare and bake everything. The inside is small but cozy and they also have outdoor seating. The staff is always very friendly but they can get busy! Their chilis are one of the best parts, the perfect amount of spice and flavor!

Yelp
This place hit the spot!! I have been craving thin crust pizza for a while and had this place saved as a place I've been wanting to try given the amazing reviews. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! We ordered the prosciutto pizza and carbonara and both were SOOOO good. I love how they included chilli oil and peppers on the side, since I love spicy! The dough of the pizza was also so chewy but just the right amount of thickness. And the Parmesan they used for the pizza, oh my god, was so tasty too. Overall would definitely love to come back here! The price to food quality ratio is very hard to beat. Oh, and they use the same plates as Carbone. Super cute!

Yelp
Quick service. Wood fired pizzas. We were lucky enough to sit on their outdoor seating. A bit cold but that's San Francisco. Good wine.

Yelp
Late post: early dinner before heading to the airport for an international flight, Il Casaro' Bufalina pizza served with Calabrian chili oil. Sooo good! Service was prompt and friendly. Restaurant is clean and is decorated nicely. Prices weren't bad. Would love to be back to try out more delicious Italian fare.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in SF! The pizza here is divine and the restaurant is always buzzing. Always a line out the door on a Saturday night! Service is fast and to the point, no frills but gets the job done. Definitely ask for a side of chili oil and parm to go with your meal! The Lasagna Zucca was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, with a decadent béchamel sauce. The Diavola pizza was spicy, cheesy, meaty, and pickle-y (from the Calabrian chilies!). Also love the prosciutto pizza here is you're looking for something more fresh and light.

Yelp
We got the Carbonara and the Prosciutto pizza to share and that was plenty for 2 people. The burrata we got as an appetizer was probably not needed as we had plenty to take home at the end of the night. The pizza crust was excellent and overall was 5/5 but the carbonara was a bit lacking (too salty) so we'll probably just stick with ordering the pizzas next time. Service was prompt and they had good recommendations- will definitely be back to try the nduja sausage.

Yelp
Everything was fresh and delicious! We got the Lumache al Pesto - few ingredients but flavorful 8/10 Bufalina- fresh 8/10, after 10mins 6/10 Quatro Formaggi with mushrooms - 8/10 Diavola- 7/10 There is a Casaro surcharge of 5% and 20% tip for parties of 6 or more. Parking is tricky as it's in the heart of North beach. But seating wasn't an issue even on a busy weekend night.

Yelp
The service is quick and servers are friendly. The portion sizes are large and worth the price! Great ambiance--not too loud or crowded--even outside, and there are plenty of tables.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times and it is a solid spot for pizza in the area. Get the Diavola if you like it spicy! Currently one of my favorite pizzas. Everything from the dough to the rich sauce, fresh cheese, and spicy salami is exceptional. They have great italian beer and wine selections as well as an aperol spritz to enjoy with your meal. We walked in on a Friday and they kindly accomodated us at the bar where we could watch the pizzas being freshly handmade and them use their brick oven to give it its unique and delicious flavor. We just got 1 pizza and a round of drinks so the service was fast and efficient. They have plenty of seating options both inside and outside and the place itself has a wonderful authentic charm to it. Definitely a spot I'll be returning to often. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Il Casaro is a great spot for dinner! The ambiance is cute and the food is good! I've ordered pizza, pasta, and salad from here and recommend it as a great North Beach Italian option for folks in the area. The vibe is fun and feels almost celebratory. It would be fun for a night out or a first date when you don't want the vibe to be too stuffy or serious. Solid food and good vibes!

Yelp
So good! Walked by during happy hour - great happy hr menu. Ordered 2 Stella's and a margherita pizza from the HH menu and ordered Mortadella Pizza, which was a white pizza and topped with pistachios! So good.....the only thing I would've done differently with the mortadella pizza was toast the pistachios a bit. Such friendly service. Would love to come back anytime

Yelp
Awesome Neopolitan pizza!! My favorite style. Margherita is always my litmus test and Il Casaro definitely delivers. They get pretty packed, but being able to get on the waitlist ahead of time helps a lot!

Yelp
The service was great. The beet salad was delicious and the Diavola pizza was pretty good. The salami was a bit gamey. I think I'm just not a big fan of Diavola pizza. It was nice and quaint inside. They have a giant, beautiful wood fired oven. I'd go back for sure. I'd just get a different pizza.

Yelp
Il Casaro is one of the most underrated gems on the always bustling Columbus strip of North Beach. Sure, the ratings on here reflect a restaurant that is worthy of a visit, but most people I mention it to have never heard of it, especially when compared to very famous (and worthy) neighbor, Tony's. The next time you're looking for a great margherita pizza at an unbeatable price, this is your spot. I love dining in here and getting delivered, when sometimes you can even snag a BOGO free margherita pizza through UberEats -- an unreal value. The margherita pizza is perfectly balanced with beautifully acidic and fresh sauce, house made mozzarella, and basil on a flavorful and slightly blistered crust. You don't need anything else, but if you want something else they make some of the most epic deep fried mozzarella rectangles (like sticks but AMPED) you will ever have.

Yelp
Finally tried this place and it did not disappoint! This will be one of our new top pizza and pasta joints! We ordered the Il Casaro pizza and asked for it with a tomato base (comes without usually) - very good. We also had the lasagne with butternut squash - also very good, a tad sweet from the squash. No wait when we came around 6pm Sunday. Casual, lively ambience, with fast service. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The food (pizza and pasta) was below average--definitely not worth the price. On top of that, the restaurant adds an extra 5% charge on top of the bill after food and tax. When we asked, they said it's to cover increased food and labor costs. Isn't that what menu prices are for? Why should customers be expected to subsidize their operating costs with hidden fees? They should just charge the manes with new prices ...Additionally- I don't usually talk about their service- but I said thank you to my server few times , but I don't hear her saying anything and never even ask me how is the food... but she got everything I asked for. ...

Yelp
While visiting San Fransisco, we wanted good pizza and beer. All the workers here are so nice and it's such a nice vibe! Super cute! It was a very welcoming atmosphere. The imported mozzarella was so light and easy to eat. We got half Diavola Pizza and half Margherita Pizza. Wow, the diavola pizza had amazing taste. It wasn't too spicy at all. Definitely get the diavola if you're thinking about it. The pizza was so light and the dough was yummy. The lasagna was okay! Super filling and the bolognese had great flavor. I had a great time here and I will be coming back next time I'm in the area! They have a solid beer variety! Including Peroni's!

Yelp
Pretty standard vegetarian pizza that arrived quickly on a weekend night! We got the 4-cheese one and Margherita with addition of cherry tomatoes. The cherry tomatoes were fantastic and juicy, I was very impressed with how they tasted. There aren't many vegetarian pizza options although you see a few on the menu; they are all combinations of same few items - tomatoes, evoo, basil & mozz! Parking here is definitely a challenge, we had to go around multiple times till we found a spot which was still a block away from the restaurant. So keep in mind if you go on a weekend!

Yelp
My dining companion and I intended to go to another spot for lunch but found it closed. We scrambled to find an alternative and discovered that Il Casaro Pizzeria was a short walk away. I'm so glad it worked out that way as our meal at Il Casaro, from the service to the food, was top notch. We started out our lunch with the burrata appetizer. Creamy olive oil drizzled and pepper dusted burrata served with crisp flatbread and fresh greens--what's not to love? It was divine. For my main, I got the quattro formaggio, which was a cheesy masterpiece. The sort of pizza that has you yearning more even though you're no longer hungry. It was lovely. The service was kind and attentive and the dining room was clean and welcoming. Get to it!
