Il Fiore Restaurant - Review - Collingswood - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Collingswood is known for having great restaurants, and Il Fiore is right up there with the best of 'em. It nails the Italian BYOB holy trinity: affordable mains (most are around $20), attentive, friendly service, and delicious dishes served in huge portions. The menu features several tasty pastas, including handmade manicotti with a tangy, slow-cooked beef ragu, and creamy fusilli with charred sausage and toscana beans. There are also larger mains, like a perfectly cooked rack of lamb. Head there for lunch or dinner ASAP, if only to try the pistachio gelato. photo credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN photo credit: CANDIS R. Top Destination Restaurants Near Philly That Are Worth the Drive | Eater Philly

"At this impressive restaurant in Bryn Mawr, Chef Jesse Grossman puts his culinary passion to work with regional Italian dishes that’s unforgettable. From the pappardelle (made with duck ragu and asparagus) to the herb crusted scallop (served with english peas, bacon, and leek), this is fine dining served comfortably." - Ernest Owens

Google
Nice restaurant with a very authentic Italian feel. The food was good and the service as well, though we did wait extremely long to pay. The place was pretty full, which is the sign of a good restaurant, but the noise level was too loud. Coupled with a small table, it made for a less than perfect night, but we'll definitely give it another try.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was grand! Very clean bathrooms too which is very important to me. The manager was so kind and generous and our waiter was great too. They made our Mothers Day quite special and a splendid experience!!

Google
Outstanding Experience – A True Gem! I don’t usually leave reviews, but this restaurant truly deserves recognition. From the moment we walked in, the service, food, and atmosphere were exceptional. The flavors were authentically Italian—rich, fresh, and incredibly satisfying. As someone from New Jersey, close to New York City, I have high expectations when it comes to dining out, especially in terms of service and quality—and this place exceeded both. I brought my mother for a spontaneous outing, and choosing this restaurant turned out to be a perfect decision. She was delighted, and so was I. If I could give this place a 10-star rating, I absolutely would. Highly recommended

Google
This is the best Italian food we have had - Italy included. The service is top notch, and the food is incredible. I would strongly recommend the spinach stuffed gnocchi, the plethora of veal dishes, and more. Don't forget about dessert - the dark side of the moon, gelato, and coffee is amazing.

Google
We had a great birthday dinner here. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and the appetizers were also very good. Love that it's byob.

Google
This was an interesting dining experience. Luckily we got right in with our reservation. Let me say the food was FANTASTIC!! The Gnocchi Di Ricotta was best gnocchi I ever had. My fiance loved her Spaghetti Tartuffo, and our appetizer, soup, and salad were great. Our only complaints, is this place is total chaos and extremely loud. I’ve never seen so many waiters and waitresses running around in one small room to the point of almost running into people and us, as there is very little room between tables. We were seated by the opening to the hallway of the kitchen, and I must have gotten hit by a server in my shoulder or arms like 5 times. Was quite annoying. I would definitely recommend for food, but if ambiance is your thing, and want a cozy peaceful date night or something, I’d look elsewhere.

Google
Let me say that ambiance rivals a mini Le Bec Fin here in beautiful Collingswood NJ, home of Michael Landon. We had a very enjoyable lunch on a gorgeous sunny day and let me tell you it was good. Service was spectacular as our waitstaff served 5 tables efficiently and attentively. We shared the grilled calamari with scrumptious bread dipped in olive oil mix. Grilled to perfection and was plenty for two people. The main course was pumpkin ravioli (hey it’s the fall) and we were both surprised to have three grilled shrimp on top! The shrimp was perfect; not mealy as we’ve experienced in other establishments. Our favorite bottle of Pellegrino was more than adequate during our stay. No room for dessert this time but we certainly will be back again!

Google
An automatic repeat for me especially bringing people from out of town. The service and meals are always on point with the cutest ambiance inside. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the timings of the course were spaced out perfectly. Items pictured: Chicken parm, veal marsala, fettuccine w/chicken, panini fantasia (sandwich), involtini di pollo

Yelp
We arrived a bit early while the staff was still setting up, and they couldn't have been more welcoming -- even offering us hot coffee on a cold, rainy day. The food was absolutely excellent; every single guest left satisfied. Service was truly second to none. The owner worked closely with my sister-in-law to plan the event and was as accommodating as anyone could hope for. Having worked in the industry booking parties myself, I can honestly say he went above and beyond. A standout experience from start to finish.

Yelp
We booked a table for four at 6:30 PM. When we arrived, we saw many people waiting outside. The hostess told us to "wait for 2 minutes." We checked on the status several times, and each time we were told it would be ready very soon. After waiting for an hour, we were still outside with no updates or clear expectations. It would have been more professional to say, "Sorry, we're overbooked, and the current wait time is about an hour." That way, we could have decided whether to wait or go elsewhere. I'm very disappointed with this kind of service--especially since it was a graduation celebration for my son. In the end, we went to another restaurant.

Yelp
Thank u to landi and his staff for a wonderful rehearsal dinner ! The service, atmosphere and food was absolute perfection!!

Yelp
We made a reservation online (keep in mind you get no confirmation and no one will remind you that you have a reservation, so take a note of that) and arrived a few minutes early. We were seated within five minutes of arrival at a very tight corner table. If you want privacy, this is not the restaurant for you lol. People are on top of people and it's a bit uncomfortable in my humble opinion. We started out with the broccolini, sausage with white beans and it was delicious. We also shared a Caesar salad, which was quite small for the price. We ordered the veal and sadly it wasn't what we expected as we wanted veal Parmesan and they did not have that on the menu. The veal we got was not breaded, but it was our fault for not reading the menu properly. Sadly, it didn't agree with us and we ate about half of it. I had a cannoli for dessert and that was outstanding. My husband ordered two double espressos and sadly, they charged him four times for two double espressos. In other words, most places charge you a smaller fee if you get a double, well they don't here. He was charged for four singles, so we won't make that mistake again. The restaurant was fine, but for all the fuss I have heard about it, we were not as impressed as others have been.

Yelp
6:30 reservation resulted in a 7:10 seating. The ambience here reminded me of when the Titanic was sinking. Loud, overbooked and waiters running around like the place was burning down. Good lord.
google avatar

Kellie F.

Yelp
Food was good here but the service was bizarre. The waiters run around in such a frenzy it creates an uncomfortable environment. I barely had my coat off about to sit down when the waitress was inches away from me trying to grab my bottle of wine to pour a glass. It started with that and continued with crazy rushed behavior on her part throughout the meal. It's clear they want you in and out as quickly as possible to move onto the next customers. I won't be returning unless I want to have heartburn from shoveling my food and drink down at light speed to accommodate the chaos of this restaurant.

Yelp
I adore it here! It is easily my husbands and my favorite Italian in town This place is quaint and small. You sit close to people. They now bring little lights to each table to brighten it up a bit which is a cute touch. I get the penne con piselli every time I go: similar to a vodka sauce with pancetta and peas. My husband typically gets the farfalle aurora: a lighter tomato based pink sauce with shrimp. The food has always been perfection. You get bread and olive oil and I have sometimes gotten one of the special salads. The waitstaff is humongous: you'll probably interact with at least four people, so you're never really waiting. We were in and out in 30 minutes.

Yelp
TLDR: solid dinner, but there's better options in Collingswood. My group was 15 minutes late to our reservation on a Friday night but we were still seated promptly which was very appreciated. FYI- the address on their OpenTable profile is incorrect. Go to the address on Google Maps. The service the entire evening was prompt and friendly. We order the pasta special (shrimp and lobster w a garlic white wine sauce), the orecchiette, and the lobster ravioli. The portions were perfectly sized (no leftovers) and we all enjoyed our meals. With that being said, there are so many good Italian restaurants in Collingswood and this simply didn't stand out IMO. I'd go back if someone really wanted to, but it's not my first choice for an Italian meal in the area.

Yelp
We went to Il Fiore a few days ago and had a wonderful experience. Every server and host were extremely friendly and made sure we enjoyed each dish. The food came out extremely quickly and was all delicious! We started with their special Burrata salad which had pineapple and strawberries. The Burrata melted in your mouth and the fruit was very fresh. I had the linguine pescatore for my entree and all of the seafood was very tasty and enjoyable. The white wine sauce was perfect as well! For dessert, I had the tiramisu. The tiramisu was amazing and had just enough coffee flavor. We really enjoyed Il Fiore and can't wait to be back again soon!

Yelp
After my original visit 8 years ago and 3rd overall. I must say things have improved quite a bit. Somewhat of a small quaint 2-dining room restaurant with excellent professional and friendly service. Love the loud but cozy ambiance that allowed you to sit next to other tables and not even hear their conversation or they ours. Extensive menu with just enough of a vary to make you say "oh that look delicious and so does that and...." Food is plentiful and nicely appealing to the eye. Tasty and served quickly which allows you to enjoy at your own pace. No rush attitude from the servers and you can even BYO. Parking is a bit of a challenge so just remember to look for the Wawa, there is a public lot next to it that always has available spaces. Enjoy!

Yelp
Visiting my sister and her family who live in NJ. We live in Oregon. My husband really wanted good Italian food. This place was top notch. Great food and amazing service. We had a memorable time!!

L. C.

Yelp
Perfection! My husband and I are foodies. From the freshly topped calamari starter, to the robust main pork chop center of thick mozzarella with Al dente vegetables and surrounded by delectable marsala and ending with lemon cake with perfect amounts of cake and cream. Staff was attentive and perfectly timed, swift and warm. My family had other favorites at the table including the lobster bisque soup and the large portion of shrimp scampi ending with the pistachio gelato which was heaven. Chairs had cushions that were supportive, decor was elegantly decorated with an old world feel, space was roomy for a romantic feel and the energy comforting. We will be returning if we can get in.

Yelp
We had a great experience here! Very impressed with the food and the service was great as well. We started with the mussels in red sauce, portion was big! We also had the Fettuccini al Salmone, HIGHLY recommend! It was our favorite dish of the night. The vodka sauce was flavorful and there were large chunks of salmon. (Wish we took a pic but we devoured it too quickly) For dinner I had the salmon entree and my fiance had the chicken Marsala. Again both very good. We finished off with tiramisu! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Amazing place , tasty food , friendly staff and reasonable prices . One of the best restaurants in South New Jersey .

Yelp
Everything to love about this lunchtime dining experience! Sweet ambience with murals of Venice, I think, and silk draperies under crystal chandeliers. Very attentive waitstaff! And the food was the best! Started with fresh, unbreaded calamari in a chopped tomato, olive, onion and capers sauce that was perfection! Next the freshest, most succulent grouper I've had since leaving the Gulf Coast, it was exquisite! I could take points off for the soggy francese coating or the watery lemon caper sauce but only for texture because the taste was 100% 'chef's kiss' Dessert was the darkest chocolate cake I've ever seen and the best I've ever had! Accompanied by a perfect cappuccino, it was an amazing finish to a very satisfying meal! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Prices are very reasonable. Great portions and homey vibes and linens. Service was good.

Yelp
Our server was wonderful, very knowledgeable and the food was amazing. The only complaint- We were seated at the second worst table in the restaurant, near the kitchen and I had to keep ducking to avoid a collision. We will definitely be back

Tracy B.

Yelp
Each time we have enjoyed a meal here it was delicious. They are also opened for lunch with us wonderful if you want an upscale lunch also .Service is always superb n it's lovely inside .

Yelp
This place never disappoints! Absolutely superior food & service! I'm so glad my family decided to celebrate Easter here. I was nervous about the preset 4 course menu but it was beyond amazing. It was $55 per person. They had several options despite the preset menu. Each course was delicious. Service was friendly & they seemed fully staffed & everyone was working hard. That place was a well oiled machine despite how crowded it was. My mom & brother ordered different options off the menu so we got to try & sample each others different courses. I had the grilled calamari, Cesar salad, lamb chops, & tiramisu & cappuccino. I was beyond satisfied. The portions were huge & cooked perfectly. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Great food, great service, and great atmosphere and ambience Nice menu selection and a great place to take out your date or wife.

Yelp
Really fantastic experience here. Wonderful service and ambiance, delicious food and reasonable prices. The vodka sauce was just perfect!

Yelp
Great service. Great food. Ambiance is amazing This place is 1,000% underrated! Will be coming back and getting the homemade gnocchi

Yelp
First time and this place is a hidden gem. Absolutely amazing meals and service. Packed on a Friday night and we were lucky to get a table.

Yelp
Have been going to this place for years and amazing how consistent they stay. Reservations are good to have, although you'll still probably wait a half hour or so on a weekend night. They do give you wine glasses while you wait if you ask. Byob. We started with the lobster ravioli as an app size. I got my go to- veal il fiore. The chunks of crab are still just as big. My wife got the lobster bucatini special. Everything was delicious as usual. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been!
google avatar

Ly P.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Il Fiore in Collingswood. The flavorful dishes and inviting ambiance make it a delightful dining experience. The cozy atmosphere adds to the overall charm. A definite recommendation for those seeking a BYOB Italian restaurant.
google avatar

Lily K.

Yelp
An amazing authentic Italian meal in a crowded but cozy restaurant. The food is out of this world, and being a BYO, you bring whatever drink you're feeling! Highlights were the mushrooms with shrimp as well as the special pasta with scallops
google avatar

Lou D.

Yelp
A very consistent Italian restaurant. Never disappointed and my favorite restaurant in all of Collingswood.
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
A new favorite! Best chicken I have tasted. Chicken Pomadoro. My wife had the fish also great. Beautiful interior murals everywhere. Great service and reasonable prices. Normally lines out the door. Come early, you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant, the specials were veal parm and lobster with squid ink pasta. Both outstanding since they use the freshest ingredients! Always packed, no last minute reservations. This is a byob, so the focus is on the food. Give yourself extra time to find parking.
google avatar

Honest R.

Yelp
Very delicious food, very tentative service, and a beautiful ambience. Great pricing, amazing date night spot. Chicken parm was one of the best I have ever had. I wish it was a little more crispy, but overall super delicious.

Dave S.

Yelp
Took my wife here for her birthday, party of four with reservations. We were on time and were seated immediately. It was 1 PM, so we were given the lunch menu. Crowded on a weekday, but the tables are spaced well and the atmosphere is "laid back" and comfortable. Our server was excellent and paced the meal well; we never felt rushed. Our entrees were all excellent. The manager checked in twice to make sure we were satisfied. The desserts were as good as the entrees. The prices were very reasonable for everything. Staff members sang a nice "Happy birthday" to my wife when they brought her dessert. This is a real class operation here. We were "first timers" here and will definitely be back. It's a little out of our way, but we wanted to take a ride, and for the future, we never mind travelling a bit for a really good restaurant, and we had heard good things about this place. It did not disappoint.
google avatar

robert c.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in South Jersey (all cuisines). Friendly, impeccable service, great atmosphere, and a great menu with well prepared food. Specials of the day/night are top notch - had the swordfish last night which was a thick piece fish classic preparation with capers lemon grilled hint of rosemary - absolutely delish... I eat here often - family, friends, birthdays, repasts - trust me - you cannot go wrong here. BYOB.
google avatar

Bri S.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. I get the chicken parm and it's so filling! Would definitely recommend this establishment

Bettina K.

Yelp
What an outstanding restaurant. The food was superb, the staff totally attentive and the ambience was so inviting. Been a few months since we have gone to Collingswood but Il Fiore will be bringing us back early and often!I I cannot tell you how wonderful the food is here. It needs yo be savored. My highest compliments to all at Il Fiore.

Dee W.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Ambiance was very good. Service little slow but the place was packed which is amazing because it was a mid-week evening. I will definitely return.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
We had a delightful meal at this lovely Italian restaurant. The service was impeccable, attentive and helpful. And, the food was delicious! I must note that portions were larger than expected, a very pleasant surprise. For us, the highlight was the Funghi Gratinati appetizer! We will definitely return!
google avatar

Abby S.

Yelp
I feel like I am very confused to all the amazing reviews of this establishment. When I recently visited here, it was so incredibly packed you had to yell to hear the diners at your table. The tables were so close that you felt like you were communally dining and could hear every other table's conversation. The bread came out warm but so hard that it did not taste like it was freshly out of the oven. Next we moved on to the special salad that just looked like random items thrown together and didn't make any sense (pineapples in a salad?). We then moved on to the fettuccini al salmon, which was covered in a very strange, displeasing sauce. We also tried a chicken dish which did not take fresh. I just feel like there's much better restaurants in the neighborhood and will not be returning.

Pat D.

Yelp
Food and service were very good. Very loud and crowded on a Saturday evening. May try an evening during the week.
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
Never again I said that 9 months ago but we figured we would try again. WRONG. Same old shit as last time. Had a 6:30 reservation and arrived and checked in ( after a struggle to get to the desk). People are stuffed inside trying to get to check in. It's now 7:00 and very few people are going to their tables. The blond woman is running around like a chicken with her head cut off calling names for tables that are ready. Half those people never answered because they left (plenty of good Italian restaurants in collingswood ). Out reservation was 6:30 and it was now 7:15 and there were people there from 6:00 still waiting. We left and went down the street for a nice Italian dinner. People, the people who own the restaurant don't give a S--- about you. Stop going and maybe they will change. If there idea of a reservation is waiting out side in the cold and rain or stuffed inside an hour or past your reservation time then i can't imagine what they do to the food. It's all about the money. Stop going

Thomas L.

Yelp
Two stars for a good time the first time there. Tonight showed up for our 7pm reservation and spent 20 minutes trying to check in before having to leave since we had a young child. Other people had been waiting since 6 at 715. Food is good but get an early table or be prepared to wait!
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
This is an above average Italian restaurant. The food was very good. I forget what I got, but I'm sure I liked it. The atmosphere was excellent and the location is very good. Also it seemed like you were sitting in an Italian restaurant in New YorkCity in the 30's. I recommended so you'll have to go and see for yourself.
google avatar

Annemarie C.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday, which falls in the beginning of the holiday season. It was a friday night and very busy. We waited a little bit for our table, but it was worth it. Food was amazing. We had appetizers, salad and meals. Kudos to the waiters and waitresses who were literally running around making sure everyone was taken care of. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
Such a great addition to my favorite restaurants. Waited a little after my reservation time but it was ok. Food made up for it. No complaints here!

C O.

Yelp
Met five friends for dinner last night., reservation was made two weeks prior for 5:30. The entrees were generally good, unfortunately the meal was over shadowed by the crowded and rushed atmosphere. There was an urgency to ordering, clearing plates and paying the bill. They forgot our teas and coffees which were ordered. I think we were outside again by 6:40 . When leaving, the front area was packed with people standing, as was the sidewalk outside. They clearly overbooked. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Lindsey A.

Yelp
Met up with a friend here for dinner. Loved this restaurant so much! The service was phenomenal. The entire staff was very friendly and attentive. Someone always came by to refill our water. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was so fresh. I got a Caesar salad which was yummy and had the right coating of dressing. For my entree I ordered the spaghetti tartufo which I adored so much. The truffle oil really made the meal come together and it was very flavorful. I also got their homemade tiramisu. It was so moist and just fantastic and a great way to end the meal. The ambiance was very cute and quaint. It had beautiful paintings of Italian landscape all over the walls. I loved the small cozy feel; indeed a charming Italian restaurant that fits perfectly in Collingswood. This is definitely what I expect in an Italian restaurant and Il Fiore exceeded my expectations!
google avatar

Yelp
After dining at Il fiore at least 10 times in the last 4 years it's way overdue that I give it the 5 stars it deserves. It never let's us down. It's clean, has reasonable prices, has super friendly servers and the food is always top-notch. Dinner always starts with fantastic bread and dipping sauce. I recommend NOT skipping on ordering a salad. Their alway excellent. Especially if they offer one with barrata cheese. All the entries are excellent and I recommend ordering any dinner special they offer when you sit down. Even if they offer any kind of fish, it will be knock your socks off delicious. Again, their dinner specials are excellent.

Maria D.

Yelp
Fabulous food, beautiful atmosphere, attentive, kind and patient staff. Parking and having to walk is close by but you do have to walk and pay ( only like 2 dollars for 4 hours ) if you or someone in your party cannot or does not like walking, you can plan ahead and drop them off and pick up at the front door) All the food is delicious but the broli rabe and sausage is my favorite. It's versatile, quite dinner for two and we have had up to a party of 12 or 14. It's in the middle of down town Collingswood so many other shops and things to see before or after your lunch or dinner and coffee shops in the area but please don't bother, they have great coffee, cappuccino and espresso.
google avatar

Tina S.

Yelp
We went to Il Fiore on a Wednesday night around 7:30pm without a reservation. We had no problem getting seated. The ambience is classic with white tablecloths but not too fancy. They brought us over bread with an oil dipping sauce which was very good and wine glasses since it is byob. We had 2 appetizers- grilled calamari and burrata caprese. The grilled calamari was really interesting because I had never had it not fried before. It was very tender and flavorful. I can't quite remember the burrata but think it may have been a small portion size. For dinner, I had the penne with pancetta in a pink vodka sauce and it was to die for! It was full of tons of pancetta in a creamy rich sauce and large enough to have leftovers to take home. My boyfriend got the spinach gnocchi which he loved. The gnocchi was light and airy and very flavorful, but perhaps a bit smaller than the penne vodka. We also had desserts-- a vanilla ice cream with a hard chocolate shell, a cannoli, and the espresso gelato. These were all good! We've had better cannoli before, but it was still really good. We will return!
google avatar

Yelp
Went for lunch after not having been there in forever. We shared a mussels appetizer which was yummy. Tender and swimming in a broth that called for us to dip the crusty bread into. I had chicken Piemontese. Huge portion of tender cutlet in a light sauce and hiding beautifully cooked veg. It was delicious and enough for my husband's dinner! My partner had the branzino special and loved it also. Topped off meal with excellent coffee and a shared dish of wonderful gelato. So glad I revisited this little treasure and will be returning for dinner soon.
