"This restaurant has clearly hit upon a formula that, judging by its success, is universally appreciated. The charming team walk you through each course in the tasting menu as it is served. Shifting often, this inventive repertoire places vegetables, fish, and meat on equal footing, as in the mushroom carpaccio with celery root, or barbecued leek with corn, salsify, and horseradish. Incidentally, the name of the restaurant is inspired by Saint Helen's Island and is not a reference to pears belle hélène, although the famous French dessert does appear on the menu in various guises." - Michelin Inspector

"Ultra-popular restaurant Les Deux Singes de Montarvie was made over as Île Flottante in 2017, and what a rebirth it was: Chef Sean Murray Smith’s tasting menus centre around creative uses of mostly seasonal vegetables (meat and seafood are used sparingly in their own shining ways). A little bit of a splurge if you go for the bigger tasting menus, but sure to fulfill." - Joel Balsam

"I appreciate that owners Nada Abou Younes and chef Sean Murray Smith have temporarily traded their elaborate seasonal tasting menus for a weekend casse-croûte that still reflects Smith’s commitment to local produce: they’re serving grab-and-go items like meat or veggie hot dogs, root vegetable fries, vegetarian or vegan poutine, root beer floats with oatmeal vanilla ice cream, and lemon shaved ice out of the restaurant’s front windows on weekends (closed on rainy days), and their corgi Ugo is regularly in attendance." - Valerie Silva

"I noticed that Île Flottante contributed recipes and anecdotes to Recettes de cheffe, the $12 mini cookbook from Taste in partnership with Aliments du Québec, with proceeds from the book going back to the industry." - Valerie Silva

"A few hundred shrimp rolls served during the second iteration at Île Flottante fetched $4,155 for Pour 3 Point, an organization supporting underprivileged youth in the region." - Valerie Silva
