Imm Thai Street Food Review - Berkeley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Ask anyone within a five-block vicinity of the Cal campus where to go for Thai food and they’ll all say the same two words: Imm Thai. The casual spot on University Ave. hosts a constant parade of Berkeley families and lanyard-wearing students inhaling thai iced teas and going in on sharable entrées that are as affordable as they are delicious (nothing on the menu is over $17). Go for the smoky basil pork that's nice and saucy over rice, or any of the velvety curries. It’s walk-in only, so expect a wait on weekends and prime dinner times." - Julia Chen

I was excited to try Imm Thai after a few friends recommended it, but I was disappointed. The papaya salad had undissolved sugar which took away from the usual fresh texture of the dish, and the cashew chicken was overly sweet. Both dishes felt heavy and left me sluggish afterward. Service was also underwhelming. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend it based on this experience.

This spot was recommended to me by so many people and I have to say I enjoyed it! I had the sweet chicken kitchen special and the flavors were great! I also tried the tom yum soup, which was great as well! It was very busy inside for a Wednesday night and all the activity was giving street food culture. I would recommend and will definitely come back!

We were in the area and wanted Thai food on a cold night. Came across this place. The reviews warned us that there’s always waiting here so be prepared to wait. We reached around 9ish in the night and it was still 6 parties waiting before us. We got in after waiting for 45 mins. It’s a casual dining place with stool seating which was not very comfortable but no big deal since the reviews were raving about the food. The food, Grilled chicken Satay - it was your usual with the peanut sauce I believe. Kai Kha Moo - more broccoli than the meat. Sweet chicken - good for kids I guess but not my cup of tea Kahi Moo Dang - it was just a blah dish. No flavors, nothing at all. Also the presentation of the food put me off. It looked disgusting The waitress was in a rush to clear the tables that I felt hurried. Overall the experience was nothing compared to the reviews. It’s a university town so I guess anything goes and no one really cares. Not my choice of restaurant if I want Thai food.

Nice place, good food, decent wait (30-45mins) for a Saturday at 1:30pm. There’s a great bookstore around the corner if you want to kill time! We ordered pad thai, pad see ew, pad kee mao, kua gai and moo ping. The pads’ noodles/flat noodles are chewy! Kua gai was interesting, with the same flat noodles. My beef pad see ew wasn’t too sweet but the beef was way overcooked/dry (suggestion: get pork). The moo ping starter was well marinated meats but way too dry, even with their chili lime dipping sauce, it didn’t help lubricate it much. Would eat again!

A popular Thai spot near UC Berkeley gets very busy and usually there is a wait. Service is however very fast but the food was just okay.

Google
We had a great experience here! I got the Kua Gai and it was fantastic, and I have never had it before, it was a very, very big portion for how much it was! ($17) and I believe it was worth every penny! The one drawback is that they didn’t do any substitutions which I feel like they definitely could’ve done because I didn’t like calamari, but other than that the chicken was tender. The noodles were so bouncy and yummy. The ingredients tasted really fresh and the service was very fast! Honestly, the only complaint was that the service felt a bit rushed because it was so crowded but the server was very friendly despite this! Overall, I really liked my experience and I would definitely go back!!! The dish I ordered is not a very common one on normal Thai restaurant menus so I would definitely go back!!

I visited Berkeley and was looking for something to eat when I came across this Thai restaurant. The food was really nice! It was my first time trying Yen Ta Fo, super tasty! I also had Pad Thai and Thai tea, both delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Great experience overall!

Google
One of the best Thai food! The 30 minute wait was worth it. Had grilled chicken satay and Tom Kha soup for starters. For main course we had Spicy fried rice, Red curry and Pad kee Mao. All of them were excellent.

Yelp
Spectacular. Lived ten years in Bangkok. The food at Imm Thai is delicious and the ambiance is like a neighborhood food stall in Thailand. Everything ordered was delicious.

Yelp
Returned for a Cal game day, and it was definitely an eventful one. The day started with traffic and parking hassles. A friend lost his car keys--fortunately, they were found--but then his car got towed, leading to a hefty fine. Despite the rough start, the day ended on a high note here The Pumpkin Curry with Chicken was so good, creamy and sweet from the pumpkin. Comes out nice and hot so also comforting. Service was quick, though sometimes there's a wait to be seating and a wait for the food, but the ambiance is lively and fun. The food and memories keep me coming back. Was a go-to spot for me and my friends. There's almost always a line here, so try and get here early, don't think they take reservations. If you're in Berkeley, this place is a gem!

Yelp
Food 6/10 Service was nice Ambience 3/10 My honest review was that I ordered pad thai. The truth is that the pad thai was very flat, it had almost no flavor. Also, the prices are very different on Yelp than the menu there. The service was very good. I recommend the pad thai, but it is not the best pad thai I have ever eaten. The place had a very dirty bathroom, but the waitresses did a very good job :) They were always attentive.

Yelp
Since we pass by this place so often we finally decided to give it a try. We came on a Sunday around 3pm somewhat of a wait but not too bad. For food we ordered Sween Chicken, Kao Kha Moo and Kua Gai Noodles. Honestly my review is going to be a bit mixed. The Sween Chicken was terrible, the pieces were cut so small that when they fried the chicken they became super dry and we maybe got a tiny chicken thigh worth of meat and a scoop of rice for $15? 0/5 flavor/texture. On then other hand, the Kao Kha Moo was very tender and cooked well again my gripe is going to be portion size for $17 the amount of food you get was a little lackluster. 4/5 flavor Finally the Kui Gai noodles, this was a pleasant surprise because it had the wok flavor that I'm always looking for in my noodles and had an okay amount of seafood (2 shrimp, 2 squid, 1 baby octopus) 5/5 flavor Overall, I think noodles and maybe the fried rice dishes looked to be the best bang for your buck; the prices they charge don't exactly fit the amount of food you're getting, but maybe it's just Berkeley? Our waitress never came back aside from asking us if we wanted dessert before promptly walking away. My review is based on the food and not the service though. Service: 2/5 Food: 3/5 Value: 3/5

Yelp
Oh I love this place! For every single dish we ordered, I was not disappointed. I even asked a to go box to pack the last couple drops of the green curry sauce for roti. My favorite is the su kho Thai (pork noodle soup) The price is very reasonable for the portion we got. Service was minimal, tables are small, but I honestly don't care. I would come again and again to try other items on their menu

Yelp
Amazingly flavorful Thai food in the Bay at such an affordable price! My friend and I had lunch at Imm on a beautiful Sunday and we were seated almost immediately even though it was pretty busy. Service was quick and friendly. I had the Pad Kee Mao with mild spice (I'll try medium next time if I'm feeling brave!) and I was so impressed by the large portion for just $15! The veggies were fresh and added a wonderful texture to contrast the silky rice noodles. I loved the basil flavor in my dish. My friend ordered the Pad See Ew which was a sweeter alternative that was also delicious. I would definitely come back to try more items from their menu - it will be hard not to get the same thing again though!

Yelp
Came here on a weekday around 6:45 PM and we had to wait around 10-15 minutes. The restaurant is pretty packed so it's understandable. Food came up slowly: first, the drinks, then the tom yum after 10 minutes, followed by the fried rice and other dishes after another 10 minutes. This place is a solid choice for Thai though the wait is a bit longer. I would consider coming back again if in the area.

Yelp
I used to get takeout here during the pandemic and I am glad to say the quality has held up years later. I dined in for the first time recently and it was pretty busy during lunchtime on a weekend. When we joined the waitlist it displayed a 140+ min wait, but we were actually seated after only 5 minutes, so maybe they hadn't been updating/removing parties from the list? Definitely odd timing, but we got lucky because we were about to bail on dining in and order food to-go. Tables and walkways inside are pretty narrow and the restaurant extends pretty far back. The roti with curry dip was pretty good, and the roti had a very noticeable butter taste. The pad see ew is textbook for me, delicious char flavor and everything cooked perfectly -- no notes! My boyfriend ordered the kua gai noodle dish which is similar to pad see ew but tasted a bit sweeter and came with seafood, sauce on the side, and was topped with a layer of egg. Neither of us had tried that dish before since we are kinda basic when it comes to ordering Thai food but we liked it! Overall the food is great quality here.

Yelp
So let's discuss.... Imm Thai Street Food has good tasting food, but the service was not good, felt rushed, the waitress was borderline rude and attitudinal. The ambiance wasn't the best and the restaurant was exceptionally crusty, old, and needs a major overhaul. The restaurant is very petite and quaint which is all the more reason why it needs to be extra clean, maintained and well kept. Generally, based upon it's inner upkeep, I would have never purchased a meal there, but because one of my good and trusted friend's championed their food, I followed through with her recommendation once we were seated. That said, there are some serious upgrades that can happen, but the pad se ew was extra tasty. Not sure that I'll be back, but if they remodel, I'm there! 4 stars for food. 1 star for ambiance. Giving a 2 star review.

Yelp
Street food sampling was delicious and great value of meal! Really flavorful dishes. Staff were also friendly and efficient. Overall a 4.5/5 review and would recommend. Between two people, 4 shared appetizers was the right amount for medium hungry. The entrees looked huge! 5/5 - Tom Kha coconut soup had amazing flavor with basil, coconut, citrus and fresh veggies. The side size bowl is generous. 5/5 - Crispy Pumpkin squash pieces with a sweet peanut sauce were tasty. Super crisp, hot and freshly prepared while not being oily. 4/5 - Papaya Salad vegetarian style was fresh. The sauce was mild spicy and overall pretty good. The lettuce was large and awkward. 3.5/5 - Chicken Satay Skewers came with a slightly nutty sauce, though texture of chicken itself was a bit tough, not tender or juicy. Came with some pickled veggies. It's a pretty busy location so use the tablet waitlist and then walk around nearby. Since food is churned out efficiently, table turnover is reasonable. We probably waited 30-40 min on a Saturday night.

Yelp
I love imm Thai, probably my fav Thai place in the Bay Area! I also love that they have so many veggie options and substitutes that you can pick. I got the pad see ew and it was so yummy and flavorful. I also loved the spring rolls, everything was super fresh and made on the spot. Staff was friendly, even when it got busy they were attentive and quick. There's indoor and outdoor seating, can get crowded though.

Yelp
I wanted some Thai food but didn't have time to sit down so I ordered a pad Thai to go. The waitress rung me up right away and told me it would be around 15min, so I circled the block before coming back. Once my order was ready (they gave me a little pager to let me know), the waitress remembered me and handed it to me straight away. The pad Thai was pretty good and had a huge portion. I was full and I still had a small portion that I could eat the next day. The flavor was good but I wish it was slightly more acidic/had more lime in it. I also didn't realize they didn't add tofu to the dish either. Overall was a good meal and satisfied my hunger.

Yelp
Small, but mighty! Plan ahead bc this place gets busy with a waitlist. Perfect for a quick bite before our show at the Greek on a Saturday. Waited about 45min and were able to dine and still get to our show with time to spare. Friendly, nice staff. We always get a couple singhas and fresh spring rolls. The chicken wings were tasty. The moo ping was good, the sauce was better. We also got pad thai. Will be back for some other dishes like pad woon sen or duck over rice next time. Fun, quick meal.

Yelp
Everything was just ok here, in my opinion--a bit on the salty side for my taste and the flavor profile isn't as rich as I'd hoped. I was also hoping for more "street food" style dishes, but most of the menu seemed typical of any other Thai restaurant, and even so I wasn't impressed by what I had. Overall, not standout, but not bad.

Yelp
Imm Thai is clearly a local favorite that offers a wide variety of Thai dishes from noodles, to curries to rice dishes. We came on a Saturday for lunch and it was bustling! Luckily we beat the lunch rush at 11:30 and was able to get seated immediately. There aren't too many tables and it's a little tight inside. We ordered the pad thai and the yen ta foh. The pad Thai was solid the noodles had a great texture and it was well balanced in flavor. The only thing it was missing for me was the lime wedge usually served with this dish. The portions are huge so two people can easily share this one entree. The yen ta foh had a bunch of toppings like squid and fishballs. They were able to make it mild for me since I can't handle spice and it was perfect. The broth was tomatoe-y and they used the same type of noodles as the pad see ew which weren't my favorite because it gave the soup a mushy texture. Street parking is not impossible to find you may just have to do some loops and walk to the restaurant. Overall I would say Imm Thai is decent. It's not the best Thai food I've had but it's certainly not the worst. It would totally fulfill the craving and love the large portion sizes!

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite Thai places in Berkeley!!! I'll definitely have to go eat in person again soon since I haven't yet this semester but WOW even their to-go was so mouthwatering just looking at it again. Even after bringing it home, it was still delightfully hot and they gave a pretty generous proportion. My go to is always the pad kee mao (a spicier option to the pad see ew with the same wide rice noodles) but I've tried so many things on the menu you couldn't go wrong. Their duck on rice is also a stand out. And the roti with curry is a little but of a smaller portion but just simply scrumptious everytime. As a regular here--I'll definitely be back soon. Since it's a smaller restaurant, make sure you account for a pretty long wait (in person and online orders). Their sister restaurant YIMM also has a similar menu, but incorporates a more sit down dinner date dynamic if you're looking for another Thai alternative!

Yelp
A very affordable Thai restaurant that is also delicious! This Thai restaurant is small and it gets packed very quick which is understandable because the food is so good. The service was super fast, our food only took about 5-10 minutes after ordering. *Kua Gai - this was my first time eating this dish. Although it seemed overwhelming with all the protein, it was definitely worth your buck. Every bite you take there is always some sort of protein from chicken to calamari. There was a nice crisp from the egg and a nice sauce that wasn't salty. *Papaya salad - the papaya salad was spicy. For those who like spice, it's for you. It was still very enjoyable. The nice tangy taste and crunchy texture. *Roti with dip - very thin and flakey. The roti was crispy and did not leave your fingers feeling greasy. We paired it with the yellow curry and it was good! Roti will always be my favorite appetizers and it is always a safe option at every Thai restaurant I have been to. *pad see ew (beef) - a nice soy sauce flavor that did not overwhelm the noodles and beef. A lot of Thai restaurants I've been to also would make their pad se ew pretty oily, I'm surprised here was not too oily nor was it too dry. A nice middle ground that still kept flavor in the dish. *pad Thai (chicken) - honestly, one of my favorite pad Thais. Other restaurants would overly sauce the pad Thai which makes the noodles very mushy or would make their pad Thai sauce too sweet. Here, the pad Thai was still sweet but not straight up sugar, there is some savory to it. The noodles were not drenched in sauce but the noodles weren't dry as well. Similar to the pad see ew. My favorite dish out of all! Overall, I would recommend coming here if you're around the area! Go early to beat the wait since it is a small restaurant. I could honestly eat an entire entree if I was hungry but you can also share if you want to taste a lot of their foods!

Yelp
Imm Thai has been a favorite of ours for quite some time, but our last visit left a lot to be desired. We came for a mother's day dinner with some family and overall found our food to be lacking in flavor and quality. They also seemed to have very minimal meat in the curry and papaya salad we got. In the papaya salad, they only had 2 pieces of shrimp. Our pumpkin curry had maybe 4 pieces of chicken. The rice was too soft and became too mushy with the curry. Not sure what has happened over the past few months, or if they just had an off night.

Yelp
I came in with great expectations since a lot of friends claim this is the best Thai spot they've ever had. So the bar was set pretty high Food: The pad see ew was nothing special but still tasted good. I like how the noodles were wider than usually and very chewy. Although some of the noodles weren't fully separated and clumped together, and the sauce was a bit lacking (could definitely be because they don't use msg). They gave a surprisingly tiny portion of duck for the duck over rice... it tasted great and was tender but would recommend ordering something else to get more value for ur $. The sauce was great though and the pickled jalepenos were a nice touch. Service: stellar service, despite being a busy time. Ambiance: small restaurant that gets pretty loud but great to stop by with friends. We were lucky and didn't have to wait for seating (came with one friend at around 12:30 on a Saturday) but the restaurant quickly filled up after that. By the time we left there were a few parties waiting. Overall, good Thai food- but I wouldn't necessarily say it's the best Thai food ever. Certainly a great place to try and will hope to try other dishes soon :)
google avatar

Jo A.

Yelp
Imm Thai is really as good as they say! They are my new go-to Thai restaurant. I try to come later in the evening to avoid the dinner rush. They still have a full house, they're just not as busy and the wait is significantly shorter. The ambiance is very casual and I love that about them. Some Thai food places are too done up and often times that's just not what I'm looking for. So far I've tried the their larb, tom yum soup, pad see ew, pad thai, yen ta foh, sweet roti, and mango sticky rice - all of which were delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Not so hidden gem! I never stopped by this place when I lived in the east bay and that's a shame. I had a great dining experience here recently. Join the waitlist if you can. It was surprisingly packed around 3pm. The service is friendly and warm. The food is sooo flavorful (I got the green curry). It came out quickly as well and was hot. Prices are very reasonable. Parking on University is notoriously tough. Meters only.

Yelp
Came with my brother on a Friday evening around 9PM after moving him out for winter break. There was surprisingly still a 10 minute wait an hour before closing. We were seated towards the back of their rustic little restaurant right next to the pass, so we got a nice view of the finishing touches for each dish and the added benefit of our food being piping hot. We started with the roti with orange curry, which was flaky, chewy, and flavorful. I had the kana moo krob, which featured bite-size pieces of pork belly that somehow remained crunchy while absolutely drowning in a thin and almost too salty sauce alongside steam(ing) rice, Chinese broccoli, and more than enough garlic. My brother tried the yen ta foh, which featured an assortment of seafood in a spicy noodle soup. The broth was nicely light and spicy, with a nice crunch from the wonton chips on top. We shared a mango sticky rice for dessert, with warm coconut rice and mango that we both found a bit too hard for our liking. Still a solid Thai option in Berkeley that I wouldn't mind returning to in the future, and certainly one that was easier on the wallet for all of the items we got + a drink ($65 after tip).

Yelp
Had a great weekend lunch here. We came on a Saturday for lunch and were seated immediately when we arrived with 6 adults and 2 kids. The restaurant was pretty full already, so I think we just got lucky with timing because there were a decent number of people waiting outside after us. The waitress still had us join the Yelp waitlist even though she was getting our table ready. They do require your whole party to be there before you can get seated so be aware. Everything we had was pretty tasty - particularly the noodle dishes. My favorite was definitely the pad Thai. Also really enjoyed the pad kee Mao and pumpkin curry. The appetizers we tried were lackluster - chicken satay was dry, fried tofu was good but nothing special, wings were decent and prob the best of what we got. Would come again if in the area and the wait isn't too long.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! FAST! NICE PEOPLE! HOPPIN' SPACE! PERFECTION! this bowl of spicy soup was just what I needed, and I was eating within 5 minutes of sitting down with a nice hot cup of jasmine tea. It was supposed to be ** of *** spicy but I think it could've been more spicy (was expecting it to be) but luckily you can add spice, but not remove it, so it was easy to ad more heat. The fresh crunch of beautiful green beans made this dish extra tasty, and the leftovers fed me for dinner too. I will definitely be returning!
google avatar

Mia B.

Yelp
Love it here! The pad see ew with tofu is one of the best I've had in Berkeley, and the vibes are so cool in there. I will say that the chrysanthemum iced tea was way below my expectations. The flavor was good, but it was wayyyyyyy too sweet. It tasted like pure sugar. But, totally recommend the food here!!

Yelp
Imm Thai Street Food is a casual but amazing gem of a restaurant, offering delicious, vibrant plates of Thai street food at student-friendly prices! We started off with Roti, or pan-fried flaky layered flatbread with a green curry dipping sauce; Papaya Salad, made of shredded papaya, carrots, tomato, green beans, peanuts, and shrimp, seasoned with chili, lime juice, and fish sauce; and Larb, made of minced chicken, herbs, roasted rice powder, and chili lime juice. For our entrees, the Duck Noodle Soup came with thin egg noodles in a dark broth, topped with spinach, bean sprouts, and sliced roasted duck. The Kua Gai was a plate of wide rice noodles stir-fried with chicken, calamari, and shrimp, all topped with a beautifully scrambled egg and served with sriracha on the side. But my favorite dish was the Pad Kee Mao, or wide rice noodles stir-fried with egg, green beans, bell peppers, and tomato, all in a tantalizingly sweet and spicy chili sauce! Every plate here was colorful and delicious, and the service was quick, friendly, and attentive--no wonder this is such a popular restaurant in downtown Berkeley!

Yelp
Went here for some tasty Thai food and it did not disappoint. Imm Thai is that special brand of restaurant that Berkeley excels at: stuffed with noisy conversation, effortlessly cool atmosphere, and dishes so mouthwatering it's absolutely worth circling University Ave and the surrounding streets for ever-elusive parking spots. If you're looking for traditional Thai fare, you've got classic dishes like pad thai and pad see ewe. But if you're looking to dig into Thai cuisine beyond the basics, this is where the menu really shines. It's not expansive, but what dishes are on the menu are served with flavor and finesse. My friend and I got the duck noodle soup and the kao moo dang. Both were tasty, savory, and comforting, packed with the perfect amount of umami flavor. Service was impressively quick given the quality (though given it's a street food restaurant, not exactly surprising). We swept in at lunch hour on a Saturday without having to wait for a table, and left two hours later with a mango sticky rice to go. I'd have gotten another dish, but I was too full. Guess that gives me a perfect excuse to come back another time!
google avatar

Yelp
Not a lot of Thai restaurants have Boat Noodle, so when I saw it on the menu, I had to try it! And it was good! We came here after the holiday so it was busy. There's a tablet outside to sign up for the wait-list and will get texts while you wait. Luckily there's things nearby so we looked around during our 20-30 min wait. But once you're seated service is super fast. The roti appetizer was so good we ended up ordering more roti because the curry sauce was so yummy.

Yelp
The service is great and the prices are even better. Food was incredible and came out very quickly. Got the Moo Ping, Pad Kee Mao w/ Shrimp, and the Spicy Eggplant w/ Chicken. We basically licked our dishes clean. Highly recommend if you are in downtown Berkeley, probably one of the best Thai places on the East Bay.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a huge Thai food lover and have tried pretty much every Thai spot in Berkeley--but Imm Thai has become the go-to for me and my friend. We're obsessed with the grilled beef salad and the pad Thai noodles--both packed with flavor. Pro tip: ask for extra lime--it seriously takes everything to the next level. The atmosphere is super nice and always buzzing, so definitely plan to show up about 20 minutes early to put your name down. The wait is totally worth it, every time. Staff are friendly and efficient, even when it's busy. Imm Thai is a solid favorite and never disappoints.

Yelp
Small restaurant with no air conditioning, but it's busy for a reason!!! The food here is darn good. Definitely join the Yelp waitlist ahead of time to avoid a long wait. My favorite dish here is definitely the Pad Kee Mao! THE FLAVOR!!!! & something about their noodles are absoultely perfect. Chewy, soft, and overall the best texture. The green beans + bell peppers are cooked well and balance out the flavors. Tomatos are a good touch! The Grilled Beef Salad is also very tasty. Refreshing and they don't skimp on the beef (which was on the lean side). Green apples and cherry tomatos added a sweetness that contrasted the chili dressing. LOVED IT!

Yelp
This place always has a line and is popping from almost as soon as it opens. That should tell you just how good this place is. There's not a ton of seating so you might have a wait of 10-30 min before you can get seated. However it's worth it! The roti is buttery and delicious, the red curry (medium) was flavorful, and the service perfect. I judge Asian restaurants by whether other Asian people are willing to eat here. And this place is almost always at least half Asian, and these folks are willing to wait 30 min in the cold to eat here. So good!! I took a student here and with one bite of his rice dish he immediately went "oh I will be back".

Yelp
Super nice and friendly restaurant in the university ave. Parking is a a bit tough but that's everywhere you go nowadays. They have an open kitchen area and the have booths and also out door seating. They have 3 table for out door seating and about 10 inside seating. We came on a Saturday around 1 and it was super packed. We ordered pad Thai with shrimp which was an extra $3. We also ordered the pad kee mao with pork. I like everything in the pad kee mao but the pork was a bit over cooked. It was a bit tough. I asked for spicy chilli but was given hot sauce. The hot sauce was not spicy it was just sweet. I also asked for more spice and was give the dried chili and it was amazing. I wish they had Thai chili. Over all everything was delicious and so flavorful. I see why there's a wait. I would love to come back next time to try other items off their menu.

Yelp
I don't have any food photos but purely from a price per dish perspective this really really hit the spot. $10 for a full tray of food in the bay area I would take that any day of the week. Enjoyable and solid quality for the price.

Yelp
Imm Thai is the perfect spot for high quality Thai food. I got the yellow curry with tofu and white rice and it was delicious! So much depth and flavor, and was quite filling. My partner got the noodles with shrimp, calamari, and egg. I can't recall the name but he loved it! On this day, it was raining pretty hard, so enjoying a delicious warm meal was just what I needed. I would come again!

Yelp
Service was lightning fast!!! This place was great if you're hungry and need some food asap. They waste no time. I'd say mango sticky rice and pad Thai were the stars of the show. Roti dip with yellow curry was great, I wish we had more roti (or less dip lol). Fresh rolls weren't fresh, so I'd skip those. Otherwise, everything came out fast and it was yummy. Definitely a solid street food Thai spot.

Yelp
Delicious Thai food here. This restaurant is along downtown Berkeley, great service and vibes. Serving sizes varied a lot depending on the dish. Menu also has some fun drinks including a blueberry lemonade that comes with a gigantic metal mug of ice to pour it in. Pumpkin curry: 8/10 Got chicken as the protein. The sauce was creamy, rich and nice blend of savory/sweet from the pumpkin. Very flavorful! Pad see yew: 8/10 Got beef as the protein. Great comfort dish. Tasty noodles with veggies.

Yelp
The food is decent, not the best Thai you'll have, but maybe the best in the area. I ordered the basil chicken however it came out as basil string beans sprinkled with very little ground chicken. When I brought this up to the waitress, she said it was normal. I even explicitly pointed out to her that there was no chicken in there. She saw it, acted dumb and went back and started speaking to to the rest of the staff. They know what they did. I pointed it out to them, still try to gaslight me. We've all eaten Thai thousands of times, never have I ever gotten a basil chicken that had the chicken substituted for string beans. The secondhand embarrassment was real! I can't believe a restaurant would serve something like the dish I got and claim that it was a chicken dish. Even the restaurant yelp pictures had more chicken in the basil chicken then what I received. Greatly disappointed never coming back..

Yelp
After a long day out, decided to come down to this Thai restaurant after hearing lots of recommendations. Place was packed the moment we went in, it was filled with Berkely students getting ready before game day. Ambiance: It was super busy on a Saturday afternoon but didn't have trouble being seated right after entering. The place is HOT while waiting and eating. I was sweating. The place looked nice Service: Pretty eh service, it feels like your typical Asian restaurant where you're just there to eat. No greetings or not many words are exchanged really. The staff looked a bit annoyed overall working not gonna lie Pad see ew $15 (3.7/5): This dish is on the sweeter side, it contains Chinese broccoli with your choice of meat. Not the best pad see ew I had, I've had better but it was good. The noodles were of decent consistency. Wished it had spice, on the menu it does tell you what spice level you'd like however we weren't asked at all about spice preference. They do have chili on the side you can add to the dish One thing to note is that they have water pitchers with open lids sitting out for a while for tables. Expect the water to be warm and potential dust in it Overall, I thought this was an alright place. Maybe I didn't get a dish they specialized in to understand the hype.

Yelp
Great location- right off BART exit. I was craving Thai food really bad and had a particular dish in mind: Ba Mee Moo Dang. I had the privilege to eat that dish nonstop in Thailand by a food stall vendor who had been making it for over 40 years, so clear warning: my expectations were high. The restaurant is vibrant and the decor is thoughtful in giving off that Thai street food vibe. It is apparent the restaurant gets pretty packed by the waitlist stand that greets you outside. Luckily, I got a seat right away because I went right as they opened. My dish wasn't the best- broth was salty. The texture of the noodle wasn't perfect. Worst of all: the char sui pork was dry and tasted like it was bought a few days ago from Chinatown. I had to share my condiments rack with another patron, which gave me anxiety. I felt like I couldn't fix my soup to my liking in case the other customers wanted to use it. Thai people would call this "gaeng jai." Eating with a guilty heart is the worst! What I do like is the condiments rack actually had the original thai spices: crushed Thai chili, homemade chili sauce, pickled jalapeños in vinegar, and Thai chilis in fish sauce. While I was disappointed with my dish- I realized ordering a specific dish for my first try was a high bar. Other people's dishes looked really good like the basic pad thai. I'll go again and this time, I'll order something a little more standard to give a better review. Imm is definitely worth going back to explore more.

Yelp
Must try in Berkeley! This place is popular for a reason. The portions are very generous for the price, service is very fast, and the food is delicious. There were lots of college students dining here, so it can get pretty busy and loud during peak hours. I recommend joining the waitlist on yelp before you arrive!

Yelp
Great food, alright service! Imm Thai is regularly busy but seating becomes available quickly. We waited 15 minutes for a table for two on Sunday evening. After being seated, we ordered three dishes: fresh rolls, beef pad se ew, and kana moo krob. I would highly recommend the pad se ew! The kana moo krob was a new dish for us and it wasn't my favorite. The ambiance is lively and loud. If you're looking for a more intimate experience, I would recommend venturing elsewhere. This is an ideal choice for a fast and casual dining experience!

Yelp
In the past we ordered takeout and the food was fresh and good. But my wife wanted to dine in for a change and we took two of our kids with us. The food was not as tasty as before but it was hot and fresh. However the white rice was not freshly cooked and it had after taste. Except our 5 years old daughter, we all ate the white rice. We came home and didn't eat anything else. My wife got sick first in the middle of the night. She was vomiting and had a bad stomach ache. Then our son woke up with bad stomach ache. He was in lot of pain. I had to give him pepto and some warm water and he felt a little better. I was the last one to feel sick and the same stomach pain/ache. So we had no doubt it was the rice because we all three ate it and the symptoms were similar. We feel like the rice they gave us was probably cooked a day or more ago and also may have been contaminated. It was such a bad experience. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have to say that the owner took our concern very seriously and reached out to us. She applogized for the incident and reimbursed what we paid. We will return back to IMM for sure.

Yelp
Overall pretty great food - the prices are decent priced and the food flavors were nice. Ordered their Thai green curry, which flavor wise was pretty good but perhaps not packed with a ton of flavor. The Thai tea was tasty and not too sweet. The roti portions were small unfortunately. The ambiance is okay. Recommend putting your name in line when you get there.

Yelp
Super busy on a Saturday evening. We arrived with about 14 people ahead of us and waited about 35 minutes to be seated. They are pretty fast getting people seated, orders taken and food delivered except they forgot about my beef salad after all of our food had been delivered I had to ask about my salads dish. I would expect it to come out first along with my chicken wings. Overall not bad but comparably priced to other Thai restaurants.

Yelp
We went on a weekday afternoon where it wasn't too busy. You can add yourself to the waitlist on the iPad right outside the entrance, but the waitress seated us right away as there were still open seats available. The vibes are very cozy and you can watch the hustle and bustle of the kitchen as it's situated in the middle area. A lot of locals come here which is nice to see! Once we ordered, the food came out within just a few minutes. I ordered the grilled chicken satay that comes with a fragrant peanut sauce and cucumber relish. The chicken was a little dry but I didn't mind the texture as it had a nice grilled flavor with the spices that brought it to life. The sauce is on the thicker side and it is sweeter, if you don't mind that. Otherwise, it gives that nice dipping texture with the satay! I would love to try more dishes and come back again!

Yelp
This is the best Thai place in the Berkeley area, and there are a lot of Thai places in the Berkeley area. I always am impressed by the service - they take my order with a smile even when they area busy. My goto order is the Pad Thai at only $10. That is cheap these days. They make it fresh and don't oversalt, which I really appreciate. The food comes out fast and fresh. So no need to call ahead if you are doing takeout. But sometimes in the evenings when everyone gets off work there can be a little wait. No biggie.
