Phoenix’s 12 Best Indian Restaurants - Eater Phoenix

"Intimate and cozy, patrons frequent India Palace for its onion kulcha and lamb vindaloo. The garlic naan is one not to miss, as well the samosas. Couples or families will not find it difficult to share — portions are large. The chicken tikka masala is also a hit, moist and spice levels are adjusted to accommodate a variety of palates. Regulars rave about the entrees being consistently excellent." - Rudri Patel

We went here about a week ago and we had great service and we loved the food! We ordered the chicken tikka and some Naan (butter and garlic). It was delicious and they gave us such large portions - we barely ate half of our food but happy we had leftovers! I highly recommend you try this place-it was so yummy!

I stopped in today for the lunch buffet, and let me tell you! Everything was so good, I tried more than half of the items offered and each was better than the last. When I walked in they said “sit wherever you like” which I appreciate. I will definitely return more often!!!

Google
For a buffet, this is a wonderful gem on the West side! My mother and I love Indian food, for my birthday, we went for lunch, it was delicious, clean, and properly cooked as I have a sensitive stomach but didn't experience issues. The attendant was extremely friendly and helpful, and more than happy to answer any questions I had about the ingredients/dishes, I highly recommend this place, don't pass it up! The are vegan friendly as well! ❤️

Google
Really good Indian restaurant, great customer service, very friendly. Vegetable Samosa was really delicious as was the mint and tamarind dipping sauces. Chicken Tikka Masala medium heat was exceptionally good, good amount of chicken and the sauce was very flavorful with just right amount of heat. Garlic Naan was my favorite part of the meal, one off the best I have had, thin crispy deliciousness! Mango Lassi was also really good. Highly recommend!

Google
This is such an amazing place to have delicious food, it’s in such a quiet spot, the staff are so incredibly friendly and welcoming!! Service is so fast, the ambient is calm and clean. I honestly cannot say anything but good things from this super underrated place. The chicken tikka is my personal favorite and their samosas are delicious :)

Google
I can’t say enough good things about this place! Every single visit is a flawless experience—like a warm, comforting embrace of incredible flavors and top-tier service. The food? Absolutely fresh, vibrant, and bursting with flavor. The customer service? Impeccable. The staff here radiates kindness, always greeting you with genuine smiles that make you feel right at home. Let’s talk about the food—I could go on forever! The chicken masala, chickpea masala, and lamb are perfection, full of rich, comforting spices that hit just right. And those crispy onion delights paired with the cool, tangy yogurt sauce and vibrant green chutney? Unbelievable. The naan? Always warm, fluffy, and packed with flavor. Fresh, crisp veggies bring everything together, and don’t even get me started on the tea—served with syrupy sweets and a cozy, creamy treat that reminds me of arroz con leche. Words can’t do this food justice—you **need** to experience it for yourself. Once you do, you’ll understand why I keep bringing my family and friends back again and again. This restaurant isn’t just a place to eat—it’s an experience, a moment of joy, shared with the kindest, most humble people behind the scenes. If I could give six stars, I wouldn’t hesitate. A true gem. You can thank me later—after your inevitable food coma!

Google
North Indian food done right! This is the real taste of Indian food. Especially, their Naan is one the best I’ve had, not just in the US, but amongst all Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Every dish tastes distinct, unlike, others who use the same gravy for everything. Great taste, great service and many varieties. Buffet is a good way to explore!

Google
India Palace Cuisine of India is one of my favorite lunch spots! The woman who I believe is the owner is always so welcoming and kind — it really makes the experience feel personal. The food is consistently excellent, and they’re always quick to bring out fresh, warm naan, which I love. The lunch buffet is a great way to sample a variety of delicious dishes at a very reasonable price. I always leave feeling satisfied and happy. Definitely a place I plan to keep coming back to!

Yelp
this is our go to Indian Food place, food is always great. we tried the Chicken Tikka Masala and ordered it spicy and it was perfect.

Yelp
I treated my foodie step son here for the second time. He was craving the lamb vindaloo. The first time we came here was about a year ago. He lives in Wisconsin so to say he was craving this place is an understatement. We ordered chicken tikka masala and the lamb vindaloo with rice and garlic naan. It was better than I remember. We came for lunch and there were a lot of people. They have a buffet or you can order from the menu which we did. I recommend this place and I really want to go back but I will have to go alone or wait for someone to go with me as my husband eats like a kid. Ambiance is nice... they have TVs with Indian soaps playing. If you like that stuff. Our waiter was ok. Then the lady that served us last year came to help and she is the best! I will be back!

Yelp
The food here was disappointing. The service was fine, but the main dishes lacked flavor. Coming from Seattle, I've had plenty of great Indian food, so this really missed the mark. I probably should've known when the restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night that it wasn't a good sign. Let's start with the positives: the complimentary crispy corn "chips" and spicy salsas were great, and the vegetarian samosas were solid. But the chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka masala were both a letdown - no flavor, minimal spice (and I ordered a 3-star), and overall just bland. The vindaloo was made with chicken thighs instead of breast meat, which I've never seen before. Even the rice was clumpy, and the garlic naan had no real garlic flavor. It was crispy, but I expected at least a hint of actual garlic. My quest for good, if not at least decent Indian cuisine continues...

Yelp
(3.5) We ordered food from this place through door dash and had it delivered. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and my husband ordered the lamb curry. We also ordered the vegetable assorted snacks plate and an order of garlic naan. Everything was just good. The assorted snacks plate was actually my favorite. The chicken tikka masala was not super flavorful. Since there are a lot of other options for Indian food in the valley, I would probably choose something else next time. But not the worst Indian food I've ever had.

Yelp
Honestly, this place was just okay. My friend and I were craving Indian Food and we usually have our usual spot but decided to try a new place out. We were excited this place offered the buffet option but upon getting there, we realized it was only for lunch :( We still decided to eat there and ordered the following: Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer, Naan and Samosas. Everything tasted okay but I've had better or preferred the place we usually go to. The palak paneer for some odd reason tasted very bitter/burnt so it threw me off as I really love palak paneer and it was my friend's first time trying it. I also ordered chai; however, it was very watered down and not as rich. If you're craving "okay" Indian food or maybe just want to try their buffet, I would suggest it. But if you're looking for more quality food, this wouldn't be it. Otherwise, service was great and the inside was clean/pretty. I just wish the food tasted a little better.
google avatar

Shreya C.

Yelp
The food was good. The paneer tikka was really good . Naans were big in size and two were enough for 3 people. The ambiance was good and service was quick. The masala chai was not that great.

Max F.

Yelp
I had such a great experience here! The food was super tasty -- full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The butter chicken and naan were my favorites, but honestly everything we tried was delicious. The staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Service was quick, and they even helped us pick a few dishes to try. The place has a nice, cozy vibe too -- perfect for dinner with friends or family. Definitely coming back soon!

Yelp
I've ordered here several times through door dash Usually get vegetarian dishes Very tasty Spiced well I did order the onion naan recently and it was soooo salty I unfortunately couldn't finish it But that's the only time something wait awry Otherwise I'd highly recommend ordering from here

Yelp
AWESOME food and excellent Chai Hot and fresh (lunch Buffet) Quality for price... affordable Wonderful staff, very nice and welcoming . I would be comfortable dining alone or in a group. It's easy to get to and there is good parking. It's my favorite and I bring all my friends here. (My Indian friend introduced me to here) Totally worth the twenty minute drive.

Yelp
We thought the Mango Lassis were the best we've ever had, definitely a highlight here. The complimentary chutney with crisp bread was nice. We ordered Poori (fried bread), Parantha (thick bread), Garlic Naan, Seekh Kabab Chicken, and Tandoori Shrimp Masala. The medium spice heat was perfect. Enjoyed the kababs more than the shrimp masala. The Kheer for dessert is what let me down. I love traditional Kheer with cardamom but their version was very plain and basic rice pudding.

Yelp
This is from a Postmates delivery so i did not dine in and cannot attest to their ambiance. The service was quick. My food arrived HOT and quick during peak dinner time. I ordered the following: Garlic Naan: kind of bland. Thin. No garlic. Daal Makhani: I've never ordered this before and am not sure what flavor should really taste like. It was kind of bland as well. I ordered a medium spice level and it was more of a mild to my tastebuds. I woukd try it again before i decide if i like it or not. Lamb Vindaloo: this was fantastic. There was a lot of potato's in it compared to the amount of lamb. But very good. Ordered a medium spice level and this was closer to medium. Palak Paneer: this was so salty i had to choke it down which was very sad to me cuz the ratio of spinach sauce to paneer was A+. Again I ordered a medium but it was more mild to me. I ordered from here because they had a Postmates discount. I'm not sure i woukd have otherwise as i have my own favorite places. However i would def consider trying their food again. I am positive the saltiness of the palak paneer is a one off situation. Which is why I gave them a 3/5 stars.

Yelp
My friend took me out to lunch anywhere I wanted to go! I chose Indian cuisine and told her about this place! Delicious food and great service! I need to come back more often!!!

Momo A.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the manger was very Kind and accommodating, if you want authentic Indian cuisine this is the place without a doubt.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is sooooo good. The vegetable pakora needs to be a staple in every restaurant in AZ and don't even get me started on the garlic naan. I can eat that stuff by the boatload.
google avatar

Zoey M.

Yelp
Food 10/10! Service 10/10! Came here with my boyfriend and got the chicken tikki masala, garlic naan, and a mango lassi! I would definitely recommend this spot and will continue to be back!

Lucifer J.

Yelp
Lady named Jatinder was the absolute rudest most self centered person I've ever met. I sat there being treated like an inconvenience instead of a paying customer. I don't know what's worse the complete lack of professionalism or the fact that the staff clearly couldn't care less. It's like everyone working here got hired for their ability to ignore customers. The attitude was unbelievable no basic manners, no apology, just pure laziness and indifference. Whoever's in charge should be embarrassed to run a place this poorly.
google avatar

Lexi R.

Yelp
We often do take away from this gem, though we've also done the buffet on weekends. Tasty traditional Indian restaurant, I adore the saag lamb and the garlic naan. They've freshened up the interior in the last few years, modernizing the ambiance. The staff is friendly and recognizes the locals.

Yelp
This place has become my go-to for Indian food in Phoenix, and for good reason. The food is consistently delicious--flavorful, perfectly spiced, and always fresh. The staff are just as wonderful as the food: warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly every time I visit. It's clear they care about both the quality of their food and the experience they offer. If you're looking for an Indian restaurant that delivers every single time, this is the spot.

R S.

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent customer service! Highly recommend the butter chicken! It is always excellent

Yelp
Food is very good, nice selection of various dishes, the garlic naan is the best! Service is fantastic. Everyone is so friendly. Ambiance is quaint and cozy.

Yelp
This has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. The people are very friendly, the food is delicious and you can't beat the selection at the buffet! if you haven't tried it yet, you are missing out.

Yelp
This India Palace in Phoenix was named the number four Indian buffet in the US recently. That inspired me to check it out during a recent week-long stay in Phoenix. I spent over three years in India and am a fan of Indian cuisine. So I have been car-free and care-free for many moons. Phoenix is a difficult city to be car-free for a car is essential here and is super spread out. It is one of the largest cities in America aka Turtle Island. From where I was staying required me to get a Lyft over here and each way was more expensive than the buffet. Mind you only did this once during my trip to Phoenix for it was too far. The buffet that was number four in the nation certainly delivered. They had rice and plain naan which I appreciated being vegan. There were several things I could have on the buffet including sauteed cabbage, a tasty daal dish, a delicious spinach dish, and potato dish. There was one paneer aka cheese dish and three non veg dishes. There was a delicious cilantro chutney, homemade salsa, and tamarind chutney along with some veg pakora. The service was very friendly. The ambiance was simple and could have been better. I am deducting one star as would have liked to see at least one more vegan option on the buffet, perhaps some chana masala aka chickpeas or cauliflower yet four solid stars. The location was challenging to get to for me being car-free aka relying on Lyft and my own two feet to get around. Glad I did get to experience them and so should you if you are in Phoenix!

Yelp
India Palace is the BEST Indian cuisine in AZ in my opinion!!! I've been visiting them for over 11 years and their commitment to quality and flavor has only grown better. While many buffets closed during the pandemic, India Palace thrived, and actually improved their variety offering a buffet experience that is unmatched in both variety and authenticity. My Favorites Buffet Items: * Garlic Naan: Soft, crispy, and melts in your mouth. * Chicken Tikka Masala: Rich, velvety, and perfectly spiced. * Palak Paneer: Flavorful spinach with tender, melt-in-your-mouth cheese cubes. * Creamy Lentils: Slow-cooked for hours, hearty, and full of depth. * Masala Chai: Warm, spiced, and perfect for chilly winter days.

Yelp
I found this restaurant thru fellow yelp reviewers so I'd like to share my experience as well. We chose the lunch buffet so that we could try a variety as we are fairly new to Indian cuisine. Food: all the items that I tried were absolutely delicious. If you need dairy free or gluten free accommodation, they are happy to explain and accommodate. Service: attentive staff who are actually willing to answer any questions joyfully Ambiance: once inside the atmosphere is pleasant, Clean and pretty quiet. They have TVs playing music videos but overall the vibe is very low key and relaxing. Key points The lunch hour ends at 3 and dinner begins at 5. I've never tried dinner but plan to. Give India Palace a try. I've never experienced any adverse allergy reactions eating here but everyone is different. I've been here 3 times in the past 2 weeks.

Yelp
My husband and I have come here 3-4 times and have never been disappointed. We always come on Friday night and it has never been busy. I get the chicken korma and I LOVE it! My husband gets the chicken vindaloo and we share rice & garlic naan. The food and service have always been excellent. The restaurant is clean and I love the ambiance with the Indian music playing in the background.
google avatar

Ben H.

Yelp
Ordered paneer tikka masala take out from uber eats. Strangely there was a BOGO earlier in the day which went MIA later? Nonetheless, the paneer was delicious, rich, flavourful and satisfying. I order garlic naan as well which was tasty.
google avatar

Madeline L.

Yelp
My go to Indian takeout spot in Phoenix! I love their biryani and chicken tikka masala! Their naan is delicious too. I have not eaten there so can't speak to the ambiance but definitely a yummy takeout meal and great leftovers!

Nanette S.

Yelp
Great food and service. Fresh grilled naan. We tried the buffet which is only available at lunch .We will be back...and bring friends!
google avatar

Angel D.

Yelp
One of the few places with a lunch buffet 7 days a week! Really appreciate the flavors. Wish it was a bit more flavorful in spices but I'll come order by the menu for those flavors. My favorite lunch buffet items: Korma and chicken tikka with the mint chutney. It's a hit for me! GARLIC NAAN IS SO GOOD!
google avatar

Michelle E.

Yelp
Amaaaaazing food. I recommend the Lamb Karahi spicy. The meat was so tender and the sauce was incredibly flavorful. The service was alright, though not great. But the flavor of the food more than made up for it. It was also a bit more pricey than I'm used to in California for comparable food. But given that it's the best place I've tried in Arizona, I'm willing to forgive that!

Yelp
I have been stuck in the house due to health issues for past two weeks. I was craving to get out sit down and enjoy a meal. My favorite Indian buffet in Tempe after 30 years closed down. I need a new buffet and restaurant came up in Yelp. This showed up and I'm like let me go and try it out. I called to verify they had a buffet and the cost $14.99. Good price I'm on my way. Headed out the house slowly and arrived at a hidden gem. Tucked in the corner of this plaza and you could smell it as you are entering the parking lot. I walk in nice peaceful atmosphere Indian music playing. The buffet is well laid out. Food was delicious but the star of the show the naan butter with a char flavor that made it stand out. I wanted to rate the chai but it ran out and while writing this review I was waiting for them to bring it out. I will come back to try their dinner menu, fluffy grandma recommends.

Gaile D.

Yelp
Oh my, where do I start? My husband and I love east Indian Food and have been going to the India Palace on W. Bell Road for years. It is not the closest Indian food restaurant to our home, but others disappoint us. The India Palace is the best Indian restaurant we have found and is well worth the drive. We love the buffet with all the amazing vegetarian and meat choices. The variety of spices makes my mouth water, and I want to sop-up every last drop of every sauce with their garlic naan bread, then cool my mouth down with a little rice pudding. I was introduced to Indian food in about 1990 and have been to a number of Indian restaurants. The India Palace on W. Bell Road is by far the best buffet in the Phoenix area. They are also open for dinner, but we haven't gotten past the lunch buffet yet!
google avatar

Kathleen W.

Yelp
They have great variety of mostly non-meat options for their affordable weekend lunch buffet (but they do have lamb curry and chicken curry). We love their choices of plain or garlic naan, they also have rice pudding and gulab jamun! We used to like coming here for their unlimited delicious chai tea that came with the buffet, but unfortunately it tasted watered down the last time we went. Could be a change after the pandemic or a one-time thing. They do know how to make very good chai tea. It's a buffet so of course, food is not the freshest, but we have a good time here and the curries are flavorful, not spicy. It's tucked away in a quiet corner in a plaza and the staff are consistent and very kind.
google avatar

Gabbi D.

Yelp
Incredible food, warm and loving atmosphere, and the staff is so so sweet! My partner and I are so happy with what we got! The Chicken Tikka was an absolute star! Best Indian food I've had in the valley so far!
google avatar

AJ C.

Yelp
Quality all the way. The depth of flavor in their lamb saag is wonderful and the restaurant modern and clean. The staff are all smiles. A favorite.
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
Accidentally ordered from here through UberEats, not realizing how far it is from our house. Ended up having to tip the driver more, but that's on me. Food was good, so we decided to follow up with a dine in experience. Food: Everything was very good, samosas were the only items that missed the mark. Tandori chicken was solid, but the chicken masala was excellent! Also this place makes the best Bengan Burta in AZ, so if you like eggplant, its a must order. Service: Limited at best. I wish they would just leave the water pitcher at the table. Instead I have to sit with an empty glass waiting for one of the two servers to notice and refill. This is done at quite a few places I have visited and to me it seems like a better service offering. Overall: When in the area worth a visit. For us there is another place close by that we will frequent more often.

Darren R.

Yelp
I always stop in for buffet as it is delicious and is always fresh. Plenty of seating great four large parties and you can't beat the price.
google avatar

Tracy P.

Yelp
Wow, I was super impressed with the food at this place! I loved everything that we ordered and wouldn't know which one we wouldn't get next time. Service was awesome! Check in to get a free plain or garlic naan! Everyone was very attentive. The garlic naan was super delicious! Especially with all this dishes we got, everything went well with the naan. There were many things to choose from on the menu. Murg Makhani: this is the same as butter chicken when you order at other places. I think this might be my favorite place for butter chicken! Sag Lamb: got medium for this dish and it wasn't really spicy. It had the perfect texture of lamb and the overall taste was so good! The spinach and gravy mixed together was perfect on top of the naan. Tandoori Chicken: great presentation. The chicken was hot when it came out and very meaty! Chicken Fraizee: this order came with rice and the gravy was good! Beef Korma: the beef was cooked perfectly! I would recommend this place!

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to India Palace for date night for almost 14 years. We always are welcomed with a big smile and greeting form the owner. The exotic spice and fragrances coming from the kitchen reminds us we're about to have something special. It's perfect for a date night or for family. The heat level is individualized for your preference. Our favorite dishes are lamb madras, hot, whereas our kids like chicken coconut korma, mild. The red spiced chicken tikka from the tandoor with grilled veggies is incredible! The chicken saag has so many amazing flavors. The mango and strawberry lassis are a sweet treat the helps cool down the spice. Everything bite has such delectable flavor that I'm sad when it's over and I'm already thinking about what I'll order next time! Oh butter chicken! I want that next! We think it's the best restaurant in Utah!

Celia P.

Yelp
My absolute favorite Indian restaurant. I work nearby and go at least a few times a month.
google avatar

Cat O.

Yelp
The food came in large portions, perfect for sharing, it was mh Uncles first experience with, Indian cuisine, and I'm very pleased for his first experience with the dishes, he was incredibly impressed, the palak Paneer was medium spice and very delicious. The chicken Tikka masala, had green peppers, which enhanced the flavor profile. Very unique. The lamb vindaloo was perfectly moist not too tough to chew and perfect fat rendering. delicious spice level. The beef curry was delicious and flavorful., with large well cooked through potatoes. Our waitress was on point with service, without being Intrusive. The wide open space leaves room for privacy as well as interaction. The glub Jamin was cold which was a new experience. So if you prefer warm Glub Jamin ask in advance. Our waitress was incredibly polite and friendly, she really made my uncles first experience pleasurable. Looking forward to the lunch buffet.

Yelp
Found this great Indian lunch buffet! Was recommended to go to the India palace because we wanted an Indian buffet! We we're totally amazed with the modern and very, very clean restaurant! When it came to the selection, it couldn't have been better...At least 10 selections not including salad, sauces and desserts...The naan was delicious too! We went up twice ! The staff was gracious and attentive.... Great experience! We'll definitely be back.... with friends!
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Excellent food here. Every dish is about $15 and they're definitely shareable! For $3 you can get a naan, and if you check in, they'll offer one for the table For $3, you can get rice and share a $15 curry dish. Highly recommend the butter chicken & beef korma as they were my table favorite
google avatar

Steven K.

Yelp
I'm clearly in the minority on this review but I feel like I gave this place a very fair chance by ordering several traditional Indian dishes including samosas, tikka masala, butter chicken, kofta, and naan and the curries were just very mediocre in my opinion with not much flavor. We ordered medium spice on all of the curries and the spice was almost non-existent. Maybe my taste buds were trippin, but I swear the tikka masala tasted almost like buffalo sauce was in it. Not sure if they added a certain type of vinegar based chili hot sauce or something but it gave it a very strange flavor. The naan was good but was lacking salt. The service was pretty good but flavor is what I was going for and this place dropped the ball.

Yelp
Used to come a lot, then moved. Came back recently for buffet... Very disappointed! Nothing tasted as it had before, and food was cold on the buffet. Looking for a new Indian restaurant!

Yelp
I mean, finding this gem tucked away in the corner of a strip mall was fortuitous. I was suspicious at first and then absolutely floored with the service and scrumptious food. Super friendly staff and authentic dishes, seriously one of my favorite Indian food spots, ever!! Glad I ordered too much, because I have leftovers

Yelp
*Dined-4/1/23 Came in about 1hr before closing & customer service was great! Server recommended an Indian beer which was tasty. My friend ordered the Beef Korma (minus the nuts & fruit) which she enjoyed. I had the chicken vindaloo (spicy), white rice & we shared garlic naan which was all delicious! Restaurant is well kept, nicely decorated & although not always busy at night, the staff have always been welcoming & in no rush. Will keep returning for their chicken vindaloo!

Valeria L.

Yelp
every time i have a craving of spicy yet homemade food , i automatically think of this place !! the service here is wonderful, my drink is always full ! highly recommended can't forget the Naan
