"West Philly's Indian Char House is our top Indian spot in Philly, so it's no surprise that we're considering getting a tattoo of their shrimp tikka. The smoky shrimp has a bed of nicely charred onions and peppers. We’ve had it a few times (okay, an embarrassing amount), and it’s always had the magic of being both crisp and juicy. Each bit has that traditional curry flavor but a hint of spice that gives it a little edge. "Indian Char House in West Philly is our favorite Indian restaurant in the city. This casual plant-filled spot also has an extremely large menu. You can order the whole thing and it will feel like an endless buffet—and that goes for the vegetarian section, too. It works for a light lunch of crispy, oniony pakoras, fried cauliflower in a ginger garlic sauce, and cilantro-heavy lentil soup, or a dinner of the savory potato, peas, and carrot curry. Mains don’t go above $20, unless it’s a weekly special like their rich lamb chop masala, and portions are twice as large as comparable spots.
