Best Rooftop Bars and Restaurants in Austin | Eater Austin

"Per the name, “if you know, you know,” the ground-floor entrance to this rooftop bar at the Inn Cahoots in East Austin isn’t obvious, but it’s worth it once you find it. The rooftop lounge has great views, various seating spaces, and a fun cocktail menu. DJs, live music, and parties rotate regularly." - Darcie Duttweiler

IYKYK - Review - East Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Part of the Inn Cahoots “East Austin hospitality complex,” IYKYK is a rooftop bar open on Friday and Saturday evenings. Also in the same complex is Bar Mischief, a cocktail bar with a speakeasy vibe, and Austin Garden & Studio, a large outdoor space next to the hotel." - Nicolai McCrary

A not-so-secret East Side rooftop lounge with sweeping downtown views, IYKYK sits atop locally owned Inn Cahoots. Covered by Eater Austin and backed by current hours, it skews late-night with DJs, strong drinks, and a true East Sixth energy.

The hardest part of your experience at IYKYK is deciding whether or not the skyline pics are going to be worth the logistical nightmare you’ll end up facing (they are, we’ll explain). The line to get in moves very slowly and when you’re downstairs waiting for the elevator you wonder why only to realize they cram way a ton of people into what is a relatively small rooftop upstairs. The views of downtown Austin are phenomenal there, arguably the best in the area. The music is also pretty good leading to some good vibes. Just make sure that when you’re vibing you 1. Don’t touch the VIP ropes, they are incredibly serious about this for some reason and 2. You never have to go to the bathroom (it will be a 15 minute adventure capping off with pretty gross bathrooms). We didn’t order any drinks and still had a pretty good time. Again, the view alone is honestly worth the trip up. We would say this is a fun place to be if you’re riding the wave of the night into it but it’s probably not where you start your fun if that makes sense.

IYKYK is hands down one of the best rooftop bars I’ve been to. The space is beautiful, the atmosphere is perfect, and the staff was friendly and attentive all night. I spent New Year’s Eve here and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Great service, great energy, and an overall unforgettable night.

Google
Rating: 4.4/5 This spot definitely stands out with its eye-catching setup and rooftop bar. You enter through a well-lit entrance on the ground floor, walk past the food truck toward the giant "IYKYK" sign, then take a left to reach the elevator. The rooftop offers a spectacular view of downtown Austin. The dance floor is huge, though it was empty when we arrived at 9:30 PM on a Thursday. More people started coming in after 10 PM as we were leaving. The music was great, and my Mai Tai was solid (but I was pretty drunk so take this with a grain of salt). One thing to note--they have a communal-style restroom. Overall, it seems like a cool spot to wrap up the night, and I'd definitely bring friends here if I were in the area.

Went for NYE party table and it was so easy organizing with everyone at IYKYK, big shout out to Chris for being awesome and helping the event run smooth. Definitely a must go to bar in Austin.

Google
The rooftop bar for Inn Cahoots was a fun vibe and high energy stop on our Austin trip. The elevator was super warm inside and the bathrooms were oddly configured, but the views made up for those items. The drinks we had, while pricey, were strong and quick to be made. Would come back were I in the area looking for a rooftop bar atmosphere again.

I always have a great time here. Views and vibes are immaculate just wished they would change up their music. The bartenders are great especially Alicia. Despite the crowd Alicia was very kind and helpful and definitely knows how to make a drink.

Google
Watched a bartender take someone’s used dirt cup off the table and immediately mix a drink into it and give it to someone else without cleaning it. Worried that someone could get sick and it could be a health code violation 😬.

They decided to tell me and my 12 friends in line that we had to buy tickets, for that day only, after already waiting in line for 30 minutes. There was no posted signage and they only told us after we were at the front already. I have been there many times over the last year, and having that happen to us was ridiculous

Yelp
Started with the Sunburnt Cowboy. Delicious if you're a cucumber lover. Wish they had more seating... not a heels kind of spot. Eric the manager greeted us on the way up and was very nice. Beautiful views of the city and the live band below.

Yelp
This is a newer roof top bar located on the east side of Austin in the Inn Cahoots complex. Inn Cahoots is part speakeasy bar, part rooftop bar, part studio bar, and part outdoor garden bar area. To get to the rooftop bar, you enter through the side entrance and take the elevator up to the top. The space can get quite crowded on a beautiful day especially if there's live music on the rooftop. The rooftop provides a fantastic view of downtown, so try to catch it during a sunset. We only ordered one cocktail the last time we visited and it wasn't that good, but that doesn't mean another cocktail won't be better. They were also out of the first two beers we ordered.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this beautiful rooftop bar. The elusive front door is fun with a kind doorman. The walk to the elevator could be better during the day (just to ensure it's darker). Once you walk out of the elevator area, you're greeted with such a beautiful view of the downtown Austin skyline. There are lovely covered cabanas on one side of the rooftop and then open seating on the other half. Only negative about this spot is that it is HOT up there, especially during August. The cabana area has a drapery roof and so does the bar area, so you can escape the sun. But know that if you do want to enjoy the sun, the furniture is black, so it'll be very hot. Don't miss the neat photo opp with the "Inn Cahoots" sign surrounded by musical-inspired decor surrounding it on the wall. I did not get a chance to get a drink this time but I plan to return to check out their drink menu!

Yelp
Fun entrance into bar, although I wouldn't classify this as a true speakeasy. Cute rooftop bar with beautiful view of the skyline, especially at sunset. Really cute and open space too. Drinks were good, but fairly standard.

Yelp
Awesome view and beautiful venue. Even when it's hot they have some fans and there's a nice breeze. Fun menu with twists on classics like a piña colada with cognac and a gin and tonic with prickly pear. Easy to walk up and order at the bar. Efficient and good prices. Will absolutely return!
