Typically, I have a fantastic meal at Izzy's. Not so much this time. I've been craving a burger, so I decided to order one. It was not good. Not at all. I opted for the caramelized onions, but there were too much on the burger. The flavor and the texture of the burger was also disappointing. I ordered extra cheese and could barely tell there was cheese on there at all. In fact, my sister got a cheeseburger also without the extra cheese, and she couldn't tell she had ANY cheese. Others at the table had mussels, which they liked very much. Also the French dip sliders which they also enjoyed. I wish I had gone with my first choice and tried the chicken piccata. I never noticed that on their menu before, and it being a steakhouse, I wasn't sure how it would be. I did like the fact that they serve Coca-Cola from a small glass bottle, so no fllat bar coke. The bread was okay, I seem to remember it being better in the past. Definitely need slightly bigger portions of the butter and the oil. Very tiny ramekins, and there were five of us. The service was very, very good. Very friendly and efficient staff. Love the remodel too. The restaurant looks lovely. Miss the apples.

Okay Izzy's! First of all, the Model Hostess (whose name I forgot immediately after I asked her) definitely set the tone for the experience. She was as kind and welcoming as she was beautiful. I'm just going to say it- being a person of color in this day and age, with this social climate- it means, A lot especially entering a restaurant. It can make or break your entire experience and girl, you definitely passed the vibe check. She passed the torch to John, our server who was an absolute gem. I mean he definitely made the personal connection with us. He went above and beyond, managed up his staff, and even brought the Bartender over to ensure that the drink I wanted was to my perfection. The Bartender, whose name I also forgot i'm sorry (you know who you are! ) was also a quiet , yet remarkable addition to our experience. Although my mother and I were using Izzy's as a place to have a Soprano-esque family meeting, we did so amidst one of the best pieces of steak i've ever had. We started off with the oysters which were also TO DIE for . The steak was also salted to perfection and just a very good porterhouse steak. Unfortunately, because the steak was such a star, I had to honestly give four stars because the sides, the potatoes (?) , creamed spinach, and wedge salad were just not up to par to the excellence of the steak. I did enjoy the engraving on the silver ware which tells me it is a pretty swanky restaurant and I just wanted the side dishes to be a bit more memorable. But the steak , customer service, and ambiance - definitely made up for it. We did finish our meal with the chocolate raspberry cake which was pretty good ,although a better cup of coffee would've probably set it off 😉. Oh yeah, Thanks John for your ability to make us feel so comfortable ! - Got my picture 🥰

A visit to the new IZZY’S in Redwood City for a Mother’s Day. My first time going to IZZY’S in general so I had no expectations. Moms chose the location tho so I knew it was good at worst. We sat outside due to the weather being great that day think it was a good choice. For starters we had the Deviled eggs and Drunken Prawns. Deviled Eggs: not bad at all, have never had a fried deviled egg before, the texture was different. An abundance of flavors, I particularly liked the pickled radishes as a touch of flavor. Drunken Prawns: jumbo prawns in a sauce with some kind of breaded element under the shrimp soaked in the sauce. Be sure to order extra bread to get that sauce! Mushroom Spaghetti: fresh hand roll tasting noodles with grilled mushrooms topped with some Parmesan cheese. Yum 22oz Bone-In Ribeye: shared amongst three people I would say this was a very good steak. I saw some other steaks being deliver to other tables and those looked good to but thinking economical as well as us not being huge meat eaters the rib eye was the rite choice. Sides: Izzy’s Potatoes(awesomeness), Cream Spinach(very good), Broccolini

Went there with my 11 year old son for the first time tonight to have dinner. Absolutely delicious steaks and sides in a very cool environment. Friendly staff, particularly our server John who was very kind and attentive. The location, out by the San Carlos airport, although not ideal, is certainly better than most restaurants we have found near us in the Palo Alto area. We will be back!

Best pork chop I've ever had in a restaurant it only took me 60 years to find it. Everything about Izzy's is a 110 % positive. Recommend highly.

The food has improved along with the rest of the place. Moist salmon and good drinks. Loved the salad with anchovies 😋 excellent sourdough bread, though the bread is not free 🤷🏻‍♂️

Food was delicious! Went there for fathers day for the first time. I saw that it was remodeled and looks very elegant. Parking was great. Hate going to places that have no parking. Outside dining looked great.

Yelp
tl;dr Come for the Sunday Slab and Cab meal! Probably the best prime rib special in the Bay Area ($50). Free WiFi and large parking lot. Food (5/5): Everything was solid from the salads, entrees and dessert! Caesar salad: You can tell that the ingredients are made in-house, from the dressing to the lettuce/anchovies preparation. Smash burger: the caramelized onions and patties were cooked well. The fries were again MVP and came out super crispy. Slab and cab Sunday special: do yourself a favor and make sure to come on a Sunday and grab this for yourself. For $50, you get a salad, prime rib, and crullers. The prime rib is only slightly smaller than the standard version (8 verses 10 oz), but it's cheaper and comes with the other items. Cooked at medium rare, it was delicious as well as the cream, spinach and scalloped potatoes. I wasn't expecting to like the crullers, as I was thinking they were just fancier donuts, but I was so wrong. These came out nice and hot, and the texture was eggy and fluffy with a hint of vanilla. It was a great way to end the meal! [Note: although it's on the menu online, they don't publicly advertise this at the actual restaurant itself] Areas of improvement: - We sat in the small dining area to the right of entrance. Quieter, but felt quite neglected. - There were three tables and on 3 separate occasions, the servers didn't know which tables the food was for. - Pacing of the meal. Halfway through our entree, they brought out our dessert, which was a bit unexpected. Overall, after a bit of a letdown at our last experience, Izzy's redeemed itself again! If they improve a couple things on the service side, it could become one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area!

Yelp
After being disappointed here twice, I can confidently say I won't be returning. I came once for happy hour and once for a proper meal. For happy hour, there was no service in the bar. Literally no one seemed to be working the bar. After 10-15 minutes we were able to order drinks. We both got martinis, neither was good. They were cold, the flavor was off, the olives were soggy. A martini good is a steakhouse basic. We ordered the French dip sliders, which were chewy and overpowered by a mound of limp "grilled" onions on top. The jus was served in a tiny maple syrup type container that was far too small to actually dip said French dip sliders into. We came back for dinner in case happy hour was a fluke. After putting in our order and waiting about 15-20 minutes for food, we were informed they were "out of the ribeye". They literally only have a petite filet, a NY strip, and a ribeye. Oh, and a skirt with fries. How is a steakhouse out of one of three steaks? Also, shouldn't we be informed of that before we order, or at worst, immediately after? We got the skirt and the NY and they were both fine, at best. Served medium rare but lacking in flavor and both a bit chewy. Our side of "charred broccoli" was blanched or boiled, not charred, and came out cold. The carrots were nothing to write home about. The fries with the skirt were very crispy but had no soft potato inside. And the sauces at $4 each or 3 for $10 is actual highway robbery. Tiny little saucers of each sauce, hardly enough for a couple of bites. Priced like a 4-5 star steakhouse but with 2 star food and service. It's not for me.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went here last night (12/30/2024) to have a celebratory dinner. Plus, we have never been here and were told by friends it was good. We were seated to the left once you walk into the bar area. Honestly, steaks were great, when they were cooked correctly, but the service absolutely sucked! The first server we had was Sergio. If you want to be argued with on steak temperature and forgotten about, ask for him. I usually don't go out and eat to have my server argue with me about how the steak we ordered is cooked. Especially when you order two steaks cooked the same temperature and they come out looking completely different when you cut into them. My girlfriend was extremely frustrated and went to speak with the manager and he ended up having another server (Diego, who was great) take care of us for the rest of the night. The night had already been ruined by Sergio unfortunately. When the food finally came out, correctly, we both only ate half our meals and just wanted to leave because we were tired of being there. If you're looking for a good, consistent steakhouse, drive an extra 15 minutes to Palo Alto and visit Sundance The Steakhouse. They will not disappoint like this place. It's a shame because I had high expectations for Izzy's just to be let down.

Yelp
Looks great after the remodel. You now have to pay for sides though, and bread. But they cooked our ribeye perfectly! Service was great.

Yelp
This was a little different Thanksgiving for our family. My newlywed daughter drove to SoCal with my new son-in-law to spend the holiday with his folks. That's OK... they'll be with us on Christmas. So, my wife made reservations for three at Izzy's on the Peninsula. My wife, my son and I were at the front door when Izzy's opened at 2 pm on Thanksgiving Day. My wife and I had patronized Izzy's many moons ago, and it was always IMO a restaurant that served excellent steak dinners. The restaurant has been recently renovated, and it re-opened earlier this year. The transformation is truly remarkable. The original restaurant interior was dark and divided into sections that made the dining area seem small. The remodel has opened up the dining room and the bar has been made more accessible... tremendous improvements. On this Thanksgiving, the restaurant featured its regular menu with one special... a turkey dinner. My wife requested a couple of appetizers, but my son ordered the special. The meal looked and tasted delicious according to my son. The turkey breast portion was very generous, and he took some home for a sandwich later. What would Thanksgiving be without leftovers? I ordered the steak au poivre. It is Izzy's 14-oz. New York strip prepared with a creamy pan sauce seasoned with peppercorns. The steak was tender and flavorful... and the sauce made this entree a little festive. The steak comes à la carte. I ordered two side dishes: Izzy's Own Potatoes and the demi-glace mushrooms. Exquisite. The potatoes were layered like scalloped potatoes and topped with a cheesy crust. The mushrooms, bathed in a delicate French cuisine sauce, were a perfect companion for the steak au poivre. There were no leftovers. A word about the service. Diego served our meals. He was very personable and attentive. Outstanding. Diego made our dining experience a memorable one. If you get a chance to dine at Izzy's on the Peninsula, definitely ask to be seated in Diego's section.

Yelp
First time trying Izzy's and I'm not sure why the ratings are kind of low for this place? I had an awesome experience. I believe the restaurant was recently renovated. The interior is spacious and has modern finishes to it. I love that Izzy's is very detailed with their finishing touches. Small things go a long way. For example, the napkins in the bathroom are super thick. The bathroom is clean and has a scented candle lit to keep things smelling fresh. Service was great. Surprised it wasn't busy but probably because it was a Monday night. Espresso martini was tasty Hate when places pull shortcuts and use cold brew but I'm glad to see Izzy's using actual espresso. Caesar salad and the bread were solid appetizers. Calamari was unique as it came with some veggies? Threw me off at initially but it ended up working well together. My entree was the Marinated Skirt Steak & Fries. Steak was cooked perfectly to my liking. Not sure what it was marinated with but it was delicious! Overall great service and a great experience and I think they did an AMAZING job with the renovation. The inside is beautiful. Will definitely be back. I'm looking forward to the S.F. location reopening as well!

Yelp
Gathered there with a few close friends for my birthday. This used to be a tradition before the place closed for renovations. It looks and feels amazing now. Granted it was a Monday so it was rather slow, but the staff was very attentive and the service was perfect. The menu has undergone sone changes; dishes that used to be standard sides are now a la cart, so it's a bit pricier now. And my favorite appetizer, the steamed mussels are different. But still good. And they still know how to cook a ribeye.

Yelp
2 years later we return. My NY steak was perfection tonight! Service was great! We are thrilled to say Izzy's had gained us back as customers!

Yelp
We were regulars at Izzy's before renovation, so we were looking forward to the reopening, which has been some months now. Well, the place looks nice, lights too bright and service great. The food not great and prices were ridiculous. All main entrees are stand alone, you must purchase a side as well, each at about $8. The chicken piccata that I have always enjoyed was over $40!!! Really annoying and out of touch in my opinion. We are not returning!

Yelp
We were invited back to dine again after a not so great experience during our first visit on our anniversary. We had a much better experience this visit and enjoyed a delicious meal! The steaks were cooked to perfection, they have house made steak sauce that is similar to H-57 sauce. The Caesar salad was freshly made with added anchovies and fresh Parmesan cheese. Dressing was spot on with flavor. The baked potatoes could have been cooked a tad bit longer but was with the loaded toppings it was a good side option. Celebrated a birthday and received a tiny piece of cake hardly enough for one person to have a couple bites. It was a nice gesture regardless. If we are looking for a great steak, we will be back to Izzy's!

Yelp
This was our first time back since Izzy's re-opened.. My husband and I were really looking forward to it since we had such an amazing experience before they had closed, so we booked reservations for his bday. We walked in and got sat down right away. The remodel is very nice, the inside looks beautiful. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered some drinks and some salads. (Just a side note, if you want "bread service" it's $5 now.) They also serve the bread with sea salt on the side and I definitely could have done without that. The wedge salad was definitely a must try. The dressing they use is different from your traditional wedge but it was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately my steak was way overcooked. I had to send it back and then my steak was way under cooked. The waitress was very apologetic and tried to make it right but I just ate what I could at that point. The broccoli & cream spinach were both really good. Unfortunately the potatoes & Mac and cheese lacked flavor. The staff tried to make the experience better but it definitely wasn't what we were expecting. It was overall still a disappointing experience.

Yelp
I was a little hesitant to try Izzy's in the peninsula, but we went in there anyways I had the wedge salad and New York steak, medium rare with the side of the creamy spinach. Everything there was perfect. They sat me by the bar in a little private booth very romantic you must for sure order bread service. The bread came out hot sourdough a little bit of olive oil on the side, whipped butter and sea salt all on the side the steak was cooked perfectly. It couldn't have been better . I don't mean to exaggerate, but this steak was probably one of the top five steaks I've had in the Bay Area give this place a shot. It's very good, especially if you're looking to take someone special to have a great intimate time.

Yelp
I recently visited Izzy's on the Peninsula with a group of friends and family, and while the food was excellent, the service was a huge disappointment. First, let me start with the positives: the remodel they did really transformed the place. It now has a much more upscale vibe, which made the ambiance great for a night out. The hostess who greeted us was warm and friendly, setting the stage for what I thought would be a wonderful evening. My friend Melanie and I decided to split the filet mignon, and we each ordered our own fully loaded baked potatoes. Melanie's kids ordered burgers without cheese since they have a gluten intolerance, and my husband went for the NY strip with mac and cheese as his side. The food itself was delicious--the filet mignon was cooked to perfection, and my husband loved his NY strip. Even Melanie's kids enjoyed their burgers (once they were corrected for the gluten allergy). The mac and cheese was a hit with everyone who tried it. The only small critique I have with the food was the fully loaded baked potato. It was tasty, but I was expecting it to be more generously 'loaded.' It seemed a bit light on the toppings, which was a little underwhelming. Unfortunately, the food was the only real highlight of the evening, because the service was absolutely terrible. Our server, Ihsan, was anything but pleasant. From the moment he came to the table, he acted as if serving us was an inconvenience. He interrupted our conversation multiple times to ask for specific items from the table--glasses, silverware--and it got to the point where it felt like he was intentionally being disruptive for no reason. It came off as rude and unprofessional. To make matters worse, he didn't listen when Melanie specifically mentioned her kids' gluten allergy. He brought their burgers with cheese on them, and we had to send them back. After dropping off our food, he completely disappeared. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned and was never asked if he wanted a refill. The water glasses went empty, and no one came by to refill them. We literally couldn't find Ihsan anywhere. When it was finally time to ask for the check, we had to track down another staff member, and even then, it took nearly 20 minutes for Ihsan to bring it to us. I haven't had service this poor in a long time, and it really left a bad taste in our mouths--especially considering how good the food was. It's a shame because this could've been a great dining experience, but the service was so frustrating and unprofessional that I honestly don't see myself returning. For a place with such great potential, the service really needs serious improvement.

Yelp
Ya know... this review was like watching a tennis match in my mind. 5-stars... no, 4. Wait... 5! Nah... only 4. Why NOT, 5? I don't, so 4. Back and forth and back and forth. GAH! In the end, I can't think of a reason to not give it 5 because everything was... well... great! The service, the food, the drinks, and wonderful atmosphere. I truly can't explain the struggle in my head. I guess I expected it to be really good, and it was, so I wasn't surprised? I went with 4 coworkers and we each had something different and everyone loved it. I had the Steak Au Poivre. Cooked perfectly, with shared sides of bourbon carrots and charred broccoli. Go here.

Yelp
Tried Izzy's for the first time tonight and it was overall a great meal. The location is in an obscure spot off of the 101 but once inside, the ambience gives modern steakhouse vibes. We were sat on the back patio which wasn't busy at all and we had a great corner booth location next to a heater. Was a perfect spot for an early dinner slot We ordered the sliders, salmon, 2 of the potato dishes and a steak au poivre. All the dishes were well done, tasty and generous portions. I think the prime rib sliders were the least memorable dish whereas Izzy's potatoes and salmon were a highlight for me The entire staff was so attentive and friendly. I'd definitely come back to try different dishes or for their happy hour

Yelp
We had the great pleasure of having dinner here Saturday night a party of four. We had made reservations online earlier in the week. First time here and we loved this restaurant set-up, our host gave us a choice of table or booth, chose the booth. Our server came right away with menus and got our drink order. I ordered the Cesar salad to start and my entree was the Gomez- prime rib with potatoes, creamy green spinach. My wifey had the chicken panko dipped in duck sauce. The portions were perfect and the taste was excellent. They served a loaf of fresh out of the oven bread . We finished our meal with coffee and chocolate decadence cake. I give this restaurant 5 stars and we will definitely come back because the atmosphere, staff and quality of food here. My friends get out to Izzy's On the Peninsula and enjoy. Remember to tip your servers

Yelp
Very busy for a Friday night. We didn't sit in the main dining room we had a booth at the bar. Had its perks and advantages. Our daughter could yell as much as she wants no one would hear her and you are quickly forgotten out of sight out of mind. For the quality of the meal and restaurant the service was lackluster. I asked the host to take away one table seating she took away two. I am not sure what she expected our toddler to eat off of. Our waters were empty for the majority of the time we sat there. We had to ask to get refills twice and it was only refilled once. I wonder if that would have been the same energy received if we ordered drinks, I feel the server would have paid more attention to upsell us on more drinks. I do not blame the server he likely had our table in additional to a section in the main dining room. The Mac and cheese was good. Our toddler devoured it! My fiancee loved her rib eye and I wasn't impressed with my marinated skirt steak. It was over cooked. Our classic caesar salad and wedge salad were tasty. For anyone that orders a wedge salad they probably overly love blue cheese like me lol there wasn't enough blue cheese. I think it was Greek goddess dressing. We were celebrating my fiancée's birthday and I appreciate the decorated slice of cake our server brought her. So sweet!! Sorry no photo it was devoured in seconds.

Yelp
This place got a makeover and it looks great! Came here for dinner to celebrate my parent's anniversary. The service was great- very attentive. The food was delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly. They offer sauces and you could probably do without because the steak comes with a butter. The menu says the sides are shareable but they were pretty small.

Yelp
I came here with some coworkers after a work training. The food was very good and not extremely overpriced. The staff was friendly and attentive. All the food came out perfectly and was hot when served. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
So this is a hidden gem. They have really turned the place around. The last time I was at Izzys's, they had that old tires look of an era gone by. But now they are back swinging. The steaks are reasonably priced and I got a pretty huge serving for the 14oz Steak Au Poivre we each ordered. The plates were wiped clean by the time we were done. The interiors have been significantly updated, and this would be a great place for a business meal. The bar area is set up well and there weren't too many people there for dinner - so biz may be slow during week day dinners The star is definitely the whiskey and wine list - and I got my fair share of interesting bourbons to choose from during this dinner.

Amy G.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance, the service was great! A great place for a date night, with the food being equally as delicious! Steak & fries were yummy, I'd get them again- next time I would probably opt out of the Mac and cheese

Yelp
I haven't eaten at Izzy's since the early 2000s when they had a location in San Ramon. When I found out this one was still open I was really excited to try it again. My past experiences were absolutely stellar. This was one of the best experiences I've had in a long while. The restaurant is laid out and has a great feel to it. The wait staff was very welcoming and professional. Given the history of who Izzy was (the person the restaurants modeled after) the restaurant definitely had an old school prohibition era feel to it. For starters, we had the Caesar salad and the deviled eggs. By far the best Caesar salad I've had to date. The dress was perfect. I got a hint of lemon zest from it, and the anchovy pieces on top paired well with it. The deviled eggs were perfect. Battered and fried and extremely flavorful. For the main, we had the 21 ounce bone and ribeye and then I had the Gomes, which is their signature prime rib. It came with cream of spinach and Izzy's potatoes. We also got a side of Mac n cheese The T bone was cooked perfectly and tasted great without any sauce. The Gomez.... A perfect cut, with cream horseradish perfect every bite. The potatoes are exactly how I remember, cheesy and creamy. I'll make a comparison, as I think the house of prime rib is my favorite place to get prime rib - size was obviously smaller, but it was a close second (just speaking of the prime rib)-... but this is not a bad thing because I think it was excellent. The cream spinach is the best I've had. Add the awesome potatoes and the overall meal stands toe to toe with any prime rib I have had . Can't wait to come back

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious. Came here for my birthday and got seated right away. The only thing is they sat us in the back left booth and I felt like we were always waiting for our waiter to come by. Kind of felt forgotten. And also they were pricey charging for every little thing. Don't think we would come back as we could get just as good food somewhere else without all the extra charges. But the experience was very nice and the food was good. Just felt was not worth the price tag

Peter H.

Yelp
Before the remodel, I enjoyed a couple of very good meals, and I especially enjoyed the caesar salad. The portions were large, food was tasty, and prices reasonable. Back in March we went with friends for whom Izzy's is a longtime favorite for a special occasion. Let's give Izzy's props for the luxurious new ambience: higher end (and higher priced) than before. But the food and service don't hit the new mark. When we praised the decor our waiter made his first mistake: he told he had had extra training for the grand reopening. More training is needed. After asking if we were ready to order, he said he needed a minute. Five minutes later, still waiting, we tucked into the sourdough boule we had ordered (at extra cost). Still hot and crisp, it promised delights to come (note: the dough was Boudin's). Then my wife tried a waiter-recommended by-the-glass wine, which was not to her taste. The sommelier came and in response to her description of what she wanted told us none of the by-the-glass wines were what she wanted: dry wines or dessert wines only, no middle ground. He said it was to ensure they paired well with the food. I guess letting customers decide that for themselves is too much to ask. Anyway, I recommend Izzy's offer wines by the glass that stand on their own. My caesar's flavor was fine, but it was dressed blobbily, and had a crumb dusting, whose texture I didn't like, instead of croutons. No pepper was offered, and it wasn't brought until I asked (see below). When they took our salad plates they also took our forks and knives and only gave us new forks, making bread-buttering a puzzle until we asked for new ones. A second pot of butter had invisible chunks of rock salt on top only detectable on biting into the buttered bread; unpleasant, to say the least. At least we could scrape it off. Our entrees included the wild mushroom tagliatelle, prime rib, scampi, and a selection of sides: french fries, Izzy's scalloped potatoes, charred broccoli, carrots, and baby kale salad. None of the food was hot when they served it, not even the fries and the items in cast-iron serving dishes. The broccoli was charred as advertised, but otherwise seemingly raw. We sent it back. The baby kale salad was garlicky, so my wife inquired if the garlic and onion were cooked; the waiter took the salad to inquire, returned to confirm it was cooked and asked if he should return the salad, but then brought a different salad anyway, dressed only with lemon juice and a thick snow of parmesan over the top. My love gave it to me for my pasta. My tagliatelle had a good texture, but the mushroom bolognese was bland. I asked for salt and pepper. The scampi was good, accompanied by a healthy serving of garlicky bucatini. Our friend liked his 8oz filet mignon. Overall, Izzy's seems to have tried and failed to jump a class and in the process lost what made them worth going out of the way for: excellent food at reasonable prices. For the price of our meal we could have had a far better meal at a nearby Michelin starred eatery.

Yelp
We celebrated my birthday here on November 23 Saturday, Service By Sergio and Edmund was good. Ambiance top notch. The Gomez prime rib was magnificent as were the drunken prawns. The filet Mignon medium rare was very tough and inedible, I took it home for the dogs. For a fine steak house, this was quite sad. I must say I was very disappointed. I received an automated email from Izzy's asking for feedback and I responded and I also sent them a direct email through their website and have never heard from them, which is really disappointing as well.

Yelp
Let's look at this as a new restaurant. This is not the old Izzy's. No it's something different. Somewhat similar but not the same. The basics are the same. Bar service is nice. The atmosphere is clean and refreshing. Service was great. No complaints. Seated at a bar booth, I had called earlier and left a message asking for a table at 7:00 for 2 people. Left my phone number. No one called back . But when we came in we were seated quickly in the bar area. Which was quite nice. Booth was perfectly sized. Clean and bright. We had the smash burger and fries. Came out rather quickly and was decent tasting. I think bang for the buck, you could do better. Everything on the menu is à la cart. So prices add up quickly. I guess all good things come to an end. Fairly quiet as noise levels go in a restaurant.

Yelp
This place looks like it was recently remodeled and gives a great romantic/modern/classy ambiance. It's a perfect place to have a night out with great food and service. I thought their steaks were absolutely amazing-- and if you do order a steak make sure you order it "blackened" (some type of Cajun seasoning?). It's a huge plus for us that they serve high quality grass fed halal beef from Creekstone Farms. Will definitely be visiting again!

Yelp
Been going here for years. Quality of food sucks, they now charging for all sides. Service is great. It's just not the same and we will not be going back. With reviews like this - this place will not be around much longer. Do Better Izzy's!

Yelp
3.5 stars I've been to the one in SF and here lots of times. This is my first time here since the remodel. The outside patio is very nice. Came here for dinner and had the calamari, Prime rib and mushroom bolognese. The calamari was decent but a little on the oily side. I had the Prime rib and it was cooked to perfection. My only complaint was the size. You use to be able to choose your size and also your side dishes. Now it only comes in 10oz and with potatoes and spinach. I'm was more than happy to pay a little more to order a larger cut. My wife had the pasta and it was just ok. Not too much flavor to the dish. All the prices went up and the selection of food seemed to been cut back. Overall I like the Prime rib but not sure it was worth the price. You could got the Black Angus and get more for you money.

Yelp
How dare you come back...no not your ex but Izzy after being gone for what seemed so long. Back at Izzy's since the reno...place looks updated, definitely a bit more contemporary. BUT the bartenders (Triple Threat Team) are awesome (hey Anthony), server Rafael (woo hoo) , and Edwin, the manager, are magnets to return. Drinks are spot on (Izzys Old Fashlion exclusive Buffalo Trace just made for Izzys). Deviled.eggs is so good that eating all 4 makes you feel bad in a good way. Cowboy ribeye lasso it in...so yummy! Accompaniments sound typical like cream spinach and potatoes but are not, and rather accompaniments that cowboy, can't live without. And a warm cruller in the end, okay Izzy you're back in my life.

Yelp
The new remodeled IZZYS is nice. Large dining area, modern decor ...lighting where you can actually see throughout the restaurant(because too many steakhouses have dark ambiance, this place has more windows) This IZZYS is a more casual place to dine at ...mid to upscale, not boogie We came on Mothers Day so it was busy, plenty of parents having to snap at their kids, diners young and old, casual dress code but not ghetto so please, wear comething nice Wait staff was attentive but on the slower side at the time. Menu is simple, lots of a la carte, no 'kids' options but there are items you can hope kids will eat or pick at. They started with drink orders ...then we ordered appetizers. We were offered the bread starter, said yes ...but it did not come with the appetizers, obviously they forgot it ...so it came after we mentioned it, before our entrees came out. Entrees looked great and tasted just as good. My kids ate so for us, thats a win. The prime rib was cooked a nice medium rare The rest of the sides were fine also...i mean seriously this restaurant is not bad for a date night or even with kids. Its a casual atmosphere and fam friendly environment. Probably not your first choice for a steakhouse retreat but it is definitely an option if your first choice is fully booked.

Yelp
This place is such a gem. They reopened on January 10 and I just have to say wow, the interior and exterior got a complete makeover and it's stunning. It still had the Izzy's charm but much more updated. I believe our server was Lenny, he was very prompt and attentive. So friendly and always checked on us. I was pleasantly surprised because I thought on re-opening night service would be slow, but it was amazing! I honestly would not change anything about this meal. We had - bread and butter service - crab hush puppies - blackened NY steak - blackened filet mignon - Mac and cheese - broccoli - crullers for dessert - aperitivo tropicale (mocktails for dry January!) Everything was insanely good. The mocktails were great, can't wait to come back for a cocktail. I loved the umami butter with the fresh warm bread. The crab hush puppies are a MUST order, the dipping sauce was insanely good and they're packed with crab. The steaks were a perfect medium rare, definitely try them blackened. The sides were excellent, very creamy Mac and cheese and a slightly spicy, slightly salty broccoli. Everything was cooked to perfection. The donuts come out fresh and warm, they are also a must try. Great reopening and happy to see this place back on the peninsula!

Yelp
We celebrated my dad's 82nd birthday last night at Izzy's, and it was unforgettable from start to finish. The newly remodeled interior is nothing short of stunning, with a 1960s NYC vibe that made it easy to see why it's been rated as one of the top 12 most beautiful restaurant interiors in the U.S.! We kicked off the night with expertly crafted cocktails and enjoyed some top-shelf wine throughout dinner. The steaks--NY, Ribeye, Filet--and even the salmon were cooked to perfection. The appetizers, calamari and mussels, were not only incredibly tasty but served in generous portions, which was refreshing to see. The salads--a unique twist on the classic Wedge and Caesar--were a delicious prelude to the main event. Sides like the mac & cheese, baked potato, mashed potatoes, and bourbon brown sugar carrots were spot-on complements to our meal. And dessert? Let's just say the New York cheesecake, key lime pie, and chocolate decadence cake ended the evening on a sweet, memorable note. But what truly made the night exceptional was the brilliant service from Jonatan Soared, the floor supervisor. His attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm set the tone for a seamless evening. From decanting our wines to ensuring every detail was spot on, he rolled out the red carpet for us. A big thanks to Jonatan and his team for an outstanding experience. We're already looking forward to our next visit to Izzy's--whether it's with friends, colleagues, or family, this spot is a true gem!

Yelp
We used to eat at Izzy's prior to the pandemic; post pandemic, the quality had gone down, so we gave it a rest. Last week was my birthday, and I wanted to try Izzy's. First off, the decor is totally updated-no more dark 1960s era steakhouse-the whole area is open with an outdoor patio. No more Hemingway decor, now just classic steak house decorations. No more white table cloths-the tables are bare-so kudos for making less washing needed. The menu has changed a bit since the previous owners: no more roasted mussels :( but the new mussels are excellent-beer broth, Belgian style, with a bit of a bite. The appetizer selection is smaller, but still decent. My Mom and I had fish, and my Dad and husband had the rib eye. Side orders are now a la carte (unless you get the steak set that includes them), but still delicious. Docked one star for the limited selection on the appetizers and cocktail menu, but overall, a nice experience. We will be back here soon.

Yelp
I made reservations for Valentine's Day a month ago. The hostess initially tried to seat us at a tiny table that was so close to the large table next to us that we might as well have been eating with them. There were several booths open, so we asked if we could be seated there, but the hostess said those were only for parties of 4, so they sat us in the bar in a weird little enclosed booth. As we sat there with a full view of the "4 people only" booths, we watched as they sat parties of 2 at each table! WTH? The hostess flat out lied to us. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Our waiter wasn't great...we spent a lot of time waiting for him. We tried to have dessert, but he dropped off the dessert menu and then didn't come back for close to 25 minutes, which by then, we were irritated enough to not want dessert, then had to wait another 15 minutes for our check. We used to be regulars at Izzy's before the remodel, eating there at least 2-3 times a month. We won't be back.

Yelp
It's between a 3.5 and 4.0 because of the service was great, I never really was impressed with my meal and no one in our party raved about it We did enjoy each other's company and that was great. We had a big booth so we were able to all sit around and talk to each other. AFTER reading your kind comment, I've decided to give you guys another try because you sound like such a good honest person and I feel that my conscience is telling me To go back and see you again !

Yelp
Food is good, with a limited menu. The ONLY reason for a 5 vs a 4 was because of the exemplary service from Daniella! In this time of crap customer service and go away attitude--great service needs to be spotlighted. She also recommend Cesar salad which was superb and dessert--as I was on the fence about both.

Yelp
Boy oh boy what a good time this was, we hadn't been there in a while and missed it. The ambience is a throwback from another era, genteel and civilized with a dark sexy moody clubby vide and feel, adorable intimate little banquette type booths for two against the wall near the bar area. The lighting is a treat, dark and amber with a spirit that I don't encounter much these days, not like that awful industrial exposed brick crap. The acoustics here are forgiving, with hushed tones and burnished gleaming wood tables. The menu is old work with steaks and chops, salads and starters, along with more old fashioned entrees. Though so many of their appetizers looked good, we opted to do something we rarely do: get two entrees and taste each others': their prime rib and crispy skin salmon, the latter was awesome, though a tad overcooked for my taste, but that's no shade on them--it was more than good enough. I didn't like the prime rib, and though before ordering it, my husband and I told each other we weren't going to compare it to SF's HOPR, we couldn't help but do it, and though intrinsically, there was nothing wrong with the prime rib, it just didn't hit the mark. Their potatoes, OMG, I. Mean. Insanely good, if I could digest it, I'd inhale a vat of it, a gooey delicious concoction of browned potatoes with likely a ton of butter with cheese and salt and more cheese ... it's worth it, as a once in a while treat. Their mushrooms are bomb, deep rich carmelized flavors. And the bourbon honey carrots? Just imagine honey and browning and bourbon, salty and sweet with the slightest tang ... and you've got a home run. Did I mention the caesar salad? OMG. That caesar is one of the best I'v ever had. Ever. And I'm a caesar freak. It's good sign when they drape a generous portion of Spanish anchovies on top, a light but solid dusting of pariggiano reggiano, along with a decadent creamy dressing, and tang. I wanted more acid, and got some more wedges of lemon from the bar, and I was set. Their crispy salmon on a bed of butternut squash puree was a fantastic blend of flavors and consistencies. I'd go back just for the Caesar salad, though this time I try the mussels and tuna tartare. The customer service was on point, super attentive and friendly, everyone was on the ball, nobody going through the motions. I loved everyone from beginning to and, everyone was trained to the nines. The prices, for the quality of ingredients, and the generous portions, are reasonable. Loved our experience and can't wait to go back for that caesar ... if you go, don't miss it!

Yelp
Came with a few of my girls for a birthday dinner and wow the remodel is amazing. Can't even recognize how it was before. Their food is still great and maybe even better than before. The service is always amazing and the most friendly attentive workers. That's a memory I always have there is how nice they are and how full and happy I leave.

Yelp
Tried Izzy's for dinner tonight. Their sign along 101 caught my eye the other week. After work today I felt like trying something new, and was very pleasantly surprised! Hands down would definitely come back. Perfect place to bring friends, family, or a date! Clean, classy, upscale, and upbeat vibes. Started with the San Francisco Sourdough bread service. Can officially vouch for the SF sourdough now. Then moved onto "The Gomez" (prime rib, scalloped potatoes, and creamed spinach). Everything was delicious. The creamed spinach was just right (lot of other places, too salty in my opinion). The scalloped potatoes were also great in the sense they had a tiny bit cheese which crusted when they baked it. That, albeit little, bit of stiffness/texture really made it stand out compared to your average home cooked scalloped potatoes. And the prime rib didn't need it, but I got the horseradish sauce along with it. . If I had to give one bit of criticism, it was a bit pricier than I would have liked, but not bad by any means. My waiter, Eric, was great! On top of everything from minute 1, but not over bearing either. He knew exactly when to come by to take an order, refill a drink, or clear the table. Glazed cruller for dessert (I know, I didn't need it, but since Dunkin Donuts stopped making them... I couldn't resist... guilty pleasure...) With a cup of coffee too. Also, perfection. It was on the quieter side on my way out (weeknight), so I asked the maitre d', Kim, if I could look around to see the outside seating and the bar. She was very helpful answering my questions about some unique seating areas I'd like to try when I come back. Def recommend making a reservation. Perfect service all around. Thanks for a great evening! Bravo, folks!!

Yelp
My first time coming here since the recent remodel. The place is STUNNING, they did a beautiful job. Really nice ambiance and outdoor space. Was given excellent service and all the food was delicious, I got a few martinis, the drunken shrimp, prime rib and the key lime pie. I will definitely be back there soon!

Yelp
When we go to lazy dog, my favorite is the fish tacos. They are excellent and my favorite dessert is the graham cracker with the brownie fudge with whip whipped cream five stars.

Yelp
Came here for our anniversary, the service was top tier A+++, but the food was nothing special. We got the bread service which was very good and the drunken prawns which were interesting, something we've never had before. It was like curry shrimp with some puff pastry. I ordered the Gomez and it was decent, I didn't really like the potatoes that went along with it, not enough flavor. We also got the bourbon honey carrots and they were pretty good but we were concerned how much sugar they used to make it. For drinks, I ordered the pretty rickey and it was like a watered down fruit roll up. I've had better. Overall, the service really made this place good, the food was a solid meh.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! I've been a regular at their location in San Francisco but my friend was in town and staying in San Mateo and wanted a good steak. I said Izzy's has a location down here. Let's go try it. We started off at the bar for a couple drinks, which were fantastic! The bartenders not only make great cocktails but are fantastic to talk to. We then went to our table for dinner and I had a pork chop, which was cooked perfectly, Izzy's potatoes, bourbon butter glazed carrots and cream spinach. We started off with a wedge salad, which was huge! The food is spot on as is the service and they have a fantastic wine list to boot. If you're in the area and have a hankering for good steak, go to Izzy's, you won't regret it!

Yelp
My family and I an amazing dinner here! It's a beautiful restaurant with great drinks, food and desserts that are so delicious!! Check out the pics! The service was amazing. Everybody was on top of it.

Yelp
"Another exceptional and outstanding experience at Izzy's! The food was awesome and the service was amazing! We celebrated a family member's birthday and the experience was delightful! Three of us had "the Gomez", the 10 oz prime rib served with Izzy's own potatoes and creamed spinach and the 4th member of our party had the 8 oz skirt steak with fries. We were all extremely pleased with our meals, everything was so flavorful and the portions were generous. Can't wait to plan another special occasion at Izzy's!"

Yelp
We love this place. Great food and service. Much Better after the remodel. I like the blackened filet and old fashions

Yelp
How the heck do you run out of ribeye at 7:00 on. Friday? Seriously, whoever is managing inventory needs a swift kick in the ribeye...
