"Reopening on the Peninsula later this year after a GACHOT-led redesign, Izzy’s on the Peninsula (formerly Izzy’s San Carlos) occupies 7,500 square feet and will seat 245 guests across a main dining room, a bar and lounge, two private dining rooms, and an outdoor garden patio; while a firm reopening date hasn’t been set it is accepting event bookings in late December 2023 and for 2024 and will serve dinner nightly from its location at 525 Skyway Road in San Carlos. Executive chef Vincent Castillo is rolling out a new menu centered on steaks—mostly USDA-certified Creekstone Farms beef, including a 12-ounce New York strip and an 8-ounce filet mignon—with a smaller selection of off-menu cuts from Bay Area purveyor Flannery Beef. Starters will include Dungeness crab fritters, prime rib sliders, and drunken prawns, and non-steak options will range from salmon with peppers and pickled fennel to pan-seared whole trout. The wine list, created by beverage director Jose Gutierrez alongside local expert Debbie Zachareas, includes both New and Old World wines with selections from Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and Mendocino County, and a full bar will offer cocktails such as the Notable Harlots (vodka, vanilla, passionfruit, pineapple, lime, served with a rose bubbles sidecar) and the Portuguese Coffee (rum, coffee liqueur, hot coffee, Cointreau, cinnamon, cream, and a caramelized sugar rim)." - Lauren Saria
