The Most Pleasant Outdoor Bars In NYC Right Now

"Jaffa isn’t the only outdoor terrace near the water in Williamsburg, but it’s probably the only one where you won’t rupture an eardrum or go home with the DJ. It’s a sprawling indoor-outdoor cocktail bar on the second floor of the Hoxton Hotel, from the team behind Laser Wolf and K’Far (which are also in the same hotel). The frozen cocktails and bucket of beer on the menu are a nod to the rooftop rager, but there’s no ear-splitting music—instead there's much better food on the short Israeli raw bar menu, like oysters with schug and scallops with shipka peppers. The 21 Best New Restaurants in New York City | Condé Nast Traveler

"I'm a huge fan of Laser Wolf , Michael Solomonov 's restaurant on top of the Hoxton in Williamsburg. But so is everyone else in New York City, and over a year into its reign of the neighborhood it remains competitive to get a reservation. On a lower level of the hotel, with its own discreet entrance and terrace (important to note when warmer months roll around), sunny Jaffa is the star chef's approach to a raw bar—less fuss, same expert flavors. There are scallop crudos, oysters topped with schug, and a house martini with a za'atar onion. Talk about a mental vacation to turn to as the days get colder and shorter.— Megan Spurrell, senior editor" - CNT Editors

Jaffa Cocktail and Raw Bar - Review - Williamsburg - New York - The Infatuation

"Jaffa is the final piece of Michael Solomonov’s mini-empire at The Hoxton hotel, which also houses Laser Wolf and K’Far. His third restaurant is a large cocktail and raw bar on the second-floor terrace, and it’s a relative safe zone for people who want to drink outside in Williamsburg without being in danger of going home with a DJ. The frozen cocktails and bucket of beer on the menu are a nod to the rooftop rager, but there’s no ear-splitting music and much better food. Jaffa clearly shares groceries with its sister restaurants—the menu includes oysters with a schug mignonette, scallops with shipka peppers, and pull-apart challah rolls that you may recognize from K’Far. They have a couple of bigger dishes, but it's not really a dinner spot. Come by for drinks and crudo before a longer night out in the neighborhood." - Neha Talreja

This was my last stop before calling it a day. With jazz music playing in the background, the setting sun and gentle breeze made the atmosphere especially enjoyable. The cucumber and fried pita bread dip was decent, though a bit tricky to eat—serving it in a lower, flat dish with a small fork would’ve made it easier. The cocktails were great, and the sesame ice cream really hit the spot! Personally, I would’ve preferred it without the chocolate syrup, but it was still delicious. A lovely way to end the day.

Jaffa was a great venue for a recent large group event we hosted. The interior is stunning, being a newer location, everything is very sleek and modern with aesthetically pleasing touches throughout. I’m not surprised given the reputation Hoxton hotels (which is where this bar is located) has for beautiful ambiance. There was plenty of space for people to move around and the restaurant itself is a sort of indoor-outdoor venue. Drinks wise the few cocktails I tried I thought were well balanced between alcohol and sweetness. The food does skew more towards bar bites over a full meal but if you’re here to hang out with friends it’s a great compliment to the drinks.

Really cute date night or group spot. Enjoyed cocktails, appetizers and live jazz on the roof! Very cozy seating and atmosphere was perfect.

The entrance for this spot is on a side street, technically it is located in the same building of the hotel but the actual entrance is on 9th street. The ambiance in this place is something to scream about from the top of your lungs! There are so many beautifully decorated areas to eat, drink, and chat that all give different vibes. Came for the drinks, which were amazing, and definitely got hungry. The pull a part bread is PERFECTION. The butter adds that extra dimension that you wouldn’t even think you need. And oysters! All in all, 10/10 would definitely. & order the pull a part bread, you won’t regret it!

Google
I had a celebratory dinner at Jaffa -- the new seafood & cocktail bar by Mike Solomonov 🔥 Words can't describe how this experience made me feel -- a hip, cool, and sexy raw bar that's unapologetically invested in giving seafood a signature Solo twist. The cocktails were immaculate and the vibe was top tier. ❤️

I love this place but the food options are quite limited. I would be here all the time if they had just one vegetarian option! I miss the days you could order from the K’far menu

Jaffa Cocktail and Raw Bar is a hidden gem that delivers a vibrant mix of Mediterranean flavors and fresh seafood in a chic, laid-back setting. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm atmosphere and a menu that promises both creativity and quality. The highlight of the experience is the raw bar—offering impeccably fresh oysters, tuna tartare, and crudo that taste like they were just pulled from the sea. Each dish is beautifully presented and balanced in flavor. One standout was the octopus with harissa aioli—tender, smoky, and with just the right kick. Cocktail lovers will not be disappointed. Their drinks menu is inventive and refreshing. I tried the Jaffa Spritz, which paired perfectly with the seafood, and the house gin cocktail, which was aromatic and smooth. Service is attentive but relaxed, making it a perfect spot for either a casual dinner or a special night out. Whether you’re a fan of raw seafood or just looking to explore bold, fresh Mediterranean-inspired dishes, Jaffa delivers on both taste and atmosphere.

Google
We always enjoy stopping by Jaffa for a drink before a late dinner. Live music from 7-10pm is a vibe, and it’s a great spot to bring parents or friends from out of town. Drink highlights would be the the Espresso Mar-tehina and Oaxaca on broken glass. Thanks Jaffa team, and Joe Vanable and his band who was playing that night!

Yelp
Jaffa is a hidden gem for drinks in the Williamsburg area. The drinks are awesome, the environment is clean and exquisite, and the service is great. I've never ate here, but I recommend grabbing drinks during the summer months when they open the canopy. It's a nice rooftop feel. However, I went on a fall Saturday night and the place was completely empty. I walked upstairs and even wondered if the bar was open due to a chair blocking the entrance. If I didn't ask the waiter if they were open, I would assume they were closed and would've left. If it was near closing hours, I would understand, but it was 2 hours prior to it. Regardless, this place is great. It's extremely spacious and offers a high quality dining/drinking experience.

Yelp
A marquis of Michael Solomonov's restaurants is that you will never leave hungry. At Jaffa, you will leave hungry, poor, or both. It is too bad Yelp doesn't allow half stars as I would honestly put this one at a 3.5 and am rounding up. While the quality of the elevated seafood bites is immaculate, they are just that: a bite or two of food, for an elevated price considering the amount of food you get. After spending $76 a person, we were still hungry, whereas that amount would have been enough to feed two average women at another good restaurant. But if you go with an expense account or trust fund baby, definitely get the scallops and the yellowtail pastrami because those two items will blow your mind. Our waitress pointed these two out to us and we're grateful for her guidance because it was spot on. Paying for bread at a Solomonov joint is odd. No dessert menu is odder. Wheelchair access details: The bar is on a terrace. The accessible entrance is through the Hoxton hotel. A staff member will take you through the k'far kitchen and up via a service elevator. No barriers once you are upstairs and plenty of accessible outdoor and indoor/outdoor options, including a small length of wheelchair height bar. A perfectly functional though unexciting wheelchair accessible restroom is available.

Yelp
Aesthetic and taste is there. Espresso Martini was really good like chocolate milk for a kid lol. The seafood was delicious. It's pricey but a cute date.

Yelp
Drinks were mid. I was honestly surprised by the good reviews because it's really hard to mess up a cocktail. Didn't really get a good vibe being there, wasn't a fan of the ambiance. Was expecting a feel of Jaffa but it felt more like Yaffa before they stole it.

Yelp
Jaffa is a hidden gem almost speakeasy style up a set of stairs behind K'far and under Laser Wolf. The staff was super nice and the bartender was helpful and made recommendations and also delicious drinks to order. Definitely want to come back during the summer months for the outdoor space but a great option for pre dinner drinks or an after dinner cocktail. Great cocktails, delicious bites, and a very fun chill vibe even on a cold rainy Brooklyn night.

Yelp
Going to Jaffa Cocktail and Raw Bar like getting a 2-hour vacation to Eilat in the middle of Brooklyn. It's awesome. The feel of the place is wonderful. The bar is open to a terrace where people can sit indoors or outdoors. The interior is decorated in citrus hues that make you feel whisked out of the grey concrete jungle of Brooklyn. Food is 5 stars without question. We got the French onion labneh dip, the pull apart challah, and the Chef's Choice for 2 (this is the move). The French onion dip and challah were the best I've ever had in my life. The Chef's Choice is a selection of raw bar items. The shrimp cocktail was again best in class for me and the other seafood preparations were revelatory. We had prepared for Jaffa more as a first course than dinner (haha) so we ended up going to L'Industrie after for pizza. I read that it's not intended to be a place to have a full meal so much as to get excellent drinks and apps like raw bar. Prices are comparable or better than similar establishments at NYC, meaning that if you understood what you're getting with a place that focuses on raw bar and apps, you wouldn't experience any sticker shock. I enjoyed this so much that I'd definitely bring friends from out of town or visit more often if I lived closer.

Yelp
I had a lovely experience! A great spot for pre-dinner cocktails and appetizers. It's great that there's a retractable rooftop cover - so it's shady and cool, no matter the weather.

Yelp
For nice weather to sit outside and have a cocktail. For the food, not for me. We ordered 4 dishes, 2 were spicy and menu or waiter didn't mention. I could not eat either but if like very spicy, then order the shrimp. I made the mistake of thinking the butter for the bread was actually butter. It was some sour spread. Meh.

Alex R.

Yelp
Great vibes. Turkish hummus and Salatim spreads were excellent. Solomonov knows his laffa. Would highly recommend going Saturday 8-11pm for the live jazz. No extra cost. Good for indoor and outdoor seating

Yelp
We hosted an event here and I cannot say enough good things about the staff, bar, and the place overall. Gabe was fantastic and made sure our group had everything we needed!
