"Jaffa isn’t the only outdoor terrace near the water in Williamsburg, but it’s probably the only one where you won’t rupture an eardrum or go home with the DJ. It’s a sprawling indoor-outdoor cocktail bar on the second floor of the Hoxton Hotel, from the team behind Laser Wolf and K’Far (which are also in the same hotel). The frozen cocktails and bucket of beer on the menu are a nod to the rooftop rager, but there’s no ear-splitting music—instead there's much better food on the short Israeli raw bar menu, like oysters with schug and scallops with shipka peppers. "I'm a huge fan of Laser Wolf , Michael Solomonov 's restaurant on top of the Hoxton in Williamsburg. But so is everyone else in New York City, and over a year into its reign of the neighborhood it remains competitive to get a reservation. On a lower level of the hotel, with its own discreet entrance and terrace (important to note when warmer months roll around), sunny Jaffa is the star chef's approach to a raw bar—less fuss, same expert flavors. There are scallop crudos, oysters topped with schug, and a house martini with a za'atar onion. "Jaffa is the final piece of Michael Solomonov’s mini-empire at The Hoxton hotel, which also houses Laser Wolf and K’Far. His third restaurant is a large cocktail and raw bar on the second-floor terrace, and it’s a relative safe zone for people who want to drink outside in Williamsburg without being in danger of going home with a DJ. The frozen cocktails and bucket of beer on the menu are a nod to the rooftop rager, but there’s no ear-splitting music and much better food. Jaffa clearly shares groceries with its sister restaurants—the menu includes oysters with a schug mignonette, scallops with shipka peppers, and pull-apart challah rolls that you may recognize from K’Far.
