Wait until the hype dies down to visit Jagalchi - Review - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Jagalchi is a massive Korean food complex in Daly City that has almost too much going on—there’s a grocery store with everything from seafood to Buldak, a sit-down restaurant called Pogu, street food carts, Korean beauty products, and a bakery. If that sounds like a lot, it’s because it is. On an early visit, we took some errant elbows and had to dodge an endless onslaught of shopping carts filled with ready-made kimchi and Anua toner pads. Still, if you’re here for more than the groceries, there is a path to success. Skip the restaurant and focus on the hot food stalls—you’ll find more variety than at Pogu. Worth trying are the tteokbokki and mandu. The jeon is good but leans greasy, and you should avoid the dry kimbap. From there, spend some time at the Basquia bakery, which focuses on not-too-sweet pastries and breads made with rice flour (you can pass on the imbalanced drinks). Just be prepared to wait. The hype around this place rivals that of a Baggu sample sale, and lines snake out the door any day of the week. We wouldn’t go out of our way to spend 20 minutes in line for a takeout container of mandu. But in a few months when the hubbub dies down and we need to stock up on Korean products, we’ll happily make the trip. In the meantime, H-Mart and Kukje are nearby and have similar selections and hot bars (and there are tons of great Korean restaurants in the city), with less chaos and waiting involved. photo credit: Jagalchi video credit: Julia Chen photo credit: Jagalchi photo credit: Jagalchi Pause Unmute" - Julia Chen

The Most Anticipated Spring Restaurant Openings in the San Francisco Bay Area | Eater SF

"A Korean food megaplex opening at Serramonte Center on March 28 that combines a sprawling grocery store with an outsized seafood counter and banchan selection, a 160-seat restaurant called Pogu, two bars, and a bakery called Basquia. Pogu will be led by chef Tony Yoo, whose restaurant was the first to earn a Michelin star in Korea, and there will be dishes available a la carte or via a set menu for $95 a person. The seafood section will also fold in an oyster bar and an area for Japanese sushi, while the bakery will focus on baked items made with rice flour, meaning many of the items are gluten-free." - Dianne de Guzman

Huge selection, elegant store, some items are a little pricy but also some good deals. This is a very pleasant place to shop. The store has welcoming lighting and thoughtful signage explaining various foods and traditions. There are a lot of shoppers, but the aisles are wide so it never feels too crowded. There's an indoor dining area where you can eat the things you've purchased. There's also a restaurant right in the middle of the store and a rice bakery — great for people who can't have gluten. I loved that there's a section just for items from Jeju. You'll be able to find at least two options for most packaged foods. They also sell beauty products, kitchen equipment, prepared foods, frozen and marinated meat in a lot of cuts, seafood, and fresh produce. In general, the prices are a little bit higher here than at H-Mart or Kukje. However, the bibimbap for $12 is a very competitive price, as well as kimbap for $6. They sell various kinds of bugak made in-store for $6 per bag, which is really high, but they also have mass-produced kim bugak for only $2 per bag — cheaper than anywhere else. It's between $2.50 to $7 per sheet mask, which is likely the most popular beauty product here. I drink Osulloc teas so I know they're much cheaper on Amazon. The prices are really hit or miss depending on what you get.

Google
This is a newly open Korean market. They have a huge selection of specific Korean food as well as their makeup. They even have traditional Korean rice cake. The environment is very elegant and big. They even have some restaurants inside. Their staff were OK not the friendliest. But they do help you if you need to. I will go for their seafood. They are very cheap with a huge amount of selection.

Google
This store is impressively clean and well-organized, with wide aisles and excellent product visibility. There's no odd smell like in some budget markets. Prices are comparable to other stores, and their frozen seafood was surprisingly fresh with no off smell. However, I wish they offered live seafood and had a better food court setup. The seating area is small and not ideal for dine-in. Long Review I was really impressed by how clean and visually appealing the store was. All items were neatly displayed, and the high ceilings combined with wide, open aisles made it easy to browse and find products. Unlike some budget markets, there was no strange or unpleasant smell. The prices were reasonable and in line with other markets in the area. I also tried some of their frozen seafood, which is often hit or miss. However, here, it was fresh without the usual lingering odor that sometimes develops over time—definitely a pleasant surprise. That said, there are a couple of areas that could be improved. First, I was a bit disappointed that they don’t offer live seafood, which is commonly found in many Korean and Asian markets. Second, the food court options felt lacking. While there is a sushi bar inside to the right of the main entrance, it seems more like a quick stop for shoppers rather than a comfortable dining space. In the center, there’s a large Korean restaurant run by a well-known chef, and to the left, there's a bakery. They also offer pre-packed meals that can be picked up and paid for with your groceries, and there’s a designated space to eat. However, that dining area feels quite limited in size and could definitely use some expansion.

Google
I thought it might be just overhyped and I’d say disappointing after a visit. But I found this new store entertaining and of high quality. They have similar pricing to H-Mart but more options of higher-quality condiments, dosirak, and drinks. Having a proper restaurant, a street food section, and higher quality sushi, sashimi are appealing and convincing to come back again. They might target to make it a Korean department store basement grocery store with a fancy vibe and I think they succeeded in it.

We arrived too late in the evening that the hot foods were packed up and ready to take home. The store is very nice and clean! Big space for so much korean goods and foods!

Jagalchi Korean Food Complex in Daly City was a great surprise for us as out-of-town visitors. The location is clean, easy to find, and cost-effective for everything it offers. We stopped to shop, eat, and grab some snacks to go, and it was well worth it. The food options are impressive. We tried the tteokbokki in a rice bread bowl and a roasted sweet potato from the bakery, both were delicious and full of flavor. The grocery store is well stocked with Korean snacks, sauces, frozen items, and fresh seafood. It’s not your typical grocery stop, it’s more like a food destination. There’s also a sit-down restaurant inside that serves everything from bulgogi bowls to Korean soups, and the flavors were authentic and satisfying. The staff was helpful and the entire place had a well-organized flow. It can get busy, and some popular items do sell out fast, so go early if you can. The lines moved reasonably well and the energy inside felt lively without being overwhelming. If you’re anywhere near Daly City or making a trip through the Bay Area, Jagalchi is a great spot to stop, eat, shop, and take a few treats home. Follow me and friend me for more honest reviews that help you make the most of every stop.

Google
Fun place to visit. Reminds me of shopping in Asian cities. Everything is super clean, well lit, and very well packaged and presented. It’s very spacious, being rooted into the old JC Penny Department store. Prices seem to be consistently higher than other stores like H-Mart or 99 Ranch, but the visually appeal and quality of their food and products seem to warrant the premium pricing. A few things were on par or less expensive. Gorgeous sashimi, several food outlets, a gluten free bakery that specializes in rice based baked goods, and very pretty produce. It warrants a visit at least once. You’ll likely grab a snack, at least.

Google
Over hype and over price! I sorta had some Expectations before I came here but when you see trash in front of the building and wildlife attacking customers and everything inside the store looks to fancy and overpriced. H-mart is way better than this place. I wouldn't waste my time here coming here. After spending my whole labor day w/ my family at halfmoon bay. We literally drove 1 hour just to visit because we were hungry but not desperate. So instead we went to seafood city in Daly city less then 10 away and ate there. I know this this is a place Korean groceries or whatever( my sister and my mom lives in Orange county buena park) . But idk 🤷‍ how to describe this place. I think its lost its identity.

The place is clean and relaxing, food is high quality and delicious. The service all of them are respectful. I lobe this place.

Yelp
This was like a piece of Korea back home in California! I really enjoyed the variety of options for food, cooking, drinks, etc. The workers were also very nice, helping us warm up our food and providing free samples! I wish there was one where I live in LA!

Yelp
I went to Jagalchi for the first time today and I just would like to say that the calm, serene environment is really like no other, I also enjoy the fast, speedy service in one of their food parlors. I thinks it's called Basquia near the main entrance. The food looks very heavy but if you ask me, the food at their parlor wasn't heavy, it felt very light and filling, nice midday snack and great after-meal dessert, the environment overall throughout the store. Also the woody, vegan colors were also very "eye-candy".

First time at Jagalchi: What a nice looking store. I wish they open one in Southern California

Yelp
This market is amazing with the asthetics!! It's also very spacious so even with a lot of people you don't feel too stuffy! Had a variety of snacks and food to choose from and we tried to taste a bit of each. Got some kimbap, tteokbokki, mandu, jeon, and dubbap! My favorite was the dubbap!
google avatar

Lin V.

Yelp
What a cute plate. We decided to stop by to check out the quick bites: Kimbap and found more than we bargained for. They have a variety of fresh sushi also. Picked up some banchan. It's banchan galore here. For someone who doesn't cook too much this would be my go to for banchan when prepping for Korean dishes for dinner. I'm a banchan person. It's a smaller scale KP Market but nice place to stop by.

Yelp
The essence of Korean supermarket shopping is captured in the hot and new modern Korean grocery store Jagalchi. Jagalchi offers rice-flour pastries, sushi, sashimi, ban chan, fresh fruits, Korean skincare products and so much more! Opened on March 28, 2025 to great anticipation and excitement. This massive 75,000 square foot grocery store is owned by Mega Mart. Jagalchi is located at 63 Serramonte Center, in Daly City. You will find ample free parking available here. Restrooms are available in store. There is also a customer service center located near the fruit section. You may purchase brand grocery bags and write a review for a free canvas bag! Restaurant Pogu is located inside Jagalchi. Pogu means small harbor. It is led by Tony Yoo, the chef-owner of Michelin starred Dooreyoo in Seoul. We didn't have the time to try Pogu this time around. I'm hoping the next visit here, we will have the opportunity to eat at Pogu. As a first time visitor to Jagalchi, I was amazed and impressed by the variety of fruits, Korean fresh made foods, snacks and Korean skin care offered here. We picked up a variety of hot meals, snacks, and drinks to try. You can anticipate spending over an hour here. There is an awesome bakery located inside Jagalchi. The Basquia Bakery offers so many options of delicious baked goods, ttekbokki and drinks here. We tried the watermelon drink and the matcha chocolate soft swirl here. There are many employees in each section of this massive mart to help you along the way. I found the service great here. Please enjoy the pictures for the items offered here.

Yelp
I was sooo hyped for this place and expecting it to be kind of like a Korean Erewhon where I knew I would be overpaying but would be able to source some really unique/quality products. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed to report back that most things are not worth coming here for. The kimchi was not only under-fermented but also way too salty and tasted like it was dosed in anchovy/fish sauce with no other spices shining through :( Kimbap was flavorless and had too much rice, sushi was just average grocery store quality, seafood pancake was almost decent but wish it was cooked a bit longer. The soy marinated crab (not pictured) was quite solid though, that was the only redeeming thing we purchased...

Yelp
Impressive to say the least. Was shopping in the area and wanted to check out this place. WARNING parking is very touch here, but that is not the establishment's fault. The space inside is massive! They have a very large selection of meats, seafood, frozen items, snacks and many viral items. They are NOT the location to get fresh produce. Got Milk Rice Crackers Ready to eat - Kimbap which was a little dry and no flavor Ready to eat - tteokbokki which had plenty of flavor and very filling Overall great place to walk around and try different items. They have a food court section at the end that had plenty plenty of options. I would come on a weekday when there are less people and you have time to look at things.

Yelp
Finally got to visit and loved the ambience of this place! The parking is a bit crowded, but we visited on a Sundau afternoon. The store had lots of people, but it wasn't hard to navigate. I specifically wanted some kimchi as I was almost out, and they have 2 areas with kimchi. The prepackaged commercial kimchi and the store packaged kimchi. For a small container it was $4, which I found very reasonable! Since I prefer trying a store's kimchi before committing. I did self check out, so I had minimal interactions with the staff. So I can't say is service was good or bad, but the place was kept tidy and clean, so that's a plus. Overall, I'd visit again. Some of the prices were reasonable, especially the sale items.

Yelp
The big difference between Jagalchi and other newish Korean markets in the South Bay is the restaurant inside the store, freshly made hot food and the Wagyu meat selection. The grocery items are pretty similar. The meat dept offers different cuts of Wagyu meat. They also have the usual hot pot/BBQ slices of meat in the frozen aisle. Pretty similar in price with other markets. The row of hot food counters on one side of the building had a lot of variety: Bulgogi, galbi, meat pancakes, gimbap, Tteokbokkis, fried chicken, sweet rice cakes, side dishes and more. Tried the Bulgogi gimbap and Rose Tteokbokki. Were just both ok. Rose Tteokbokki could use some spice and seasoning. The Bulgogi in the gimbap was a bit bland. The bakery has different flavors of steamed rice cakes called Sulpang. Tried the Dubai Chocolate, the Strawberry, and the Mango. The Dubai was the best if the 3. It had good chocolate flavor. The Strawberry and Mango were good too. All three were not too sweet. Soft spongy cake texture. No line to get in on a Saturday afternoon. Parking can be difficult especially in front of the store.

Yelp
High-end Korean grocery store - the store set up is super clean with thoughtful designs. Very quiet in the store and made it a little intimidating to go in as a first time comer but after seeing the food selection I quickly forgot to be nervous. Haha They have a nice cafe bakery with interesting combinations of Korea inspired baked goods. Has a small area of skin-cares. Has a food court and I ordered the builigi - large portion and very yummy. Wish they offer some side dishes for meal size purchases to eat with the food ordered at the food court.

Yelp
We had such a good time at this grocery store, department store, fast food, store, and bakery. We got a lot of different things. Some of the things didn't have much flavor and then some of the things were absolutely amazing. The coffee I got was a caramel latte and it was very mild, but good as was the black coffee. I did not like almost any of the desserts. They just were too gummy to me. I did like the slice of strawberry cake we had but the slice of chocolate cake was bland and the s'mores cookie was downright awful. I did not like the banana pudding or their famous sponge cake. Then there's the food. The japchae amazing as was the tofu which I've never tasted such a good grilled tofu. They had a Kimbo sushi roll. That was really good, but the California roll was awful. The mochi style dumplings rice cakes were disgusting. The garlic toast was weird because it would've been good, but then there was honey on it and I just don't think garlic and honey go together. I was so excited to get carnival style spiral potato chips and they were really tasty! Very uneven with the flavors however it's still such a fun place to go.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday afternoon to Jagalchi and parking can be a bit tricky with the other stores in the mall nearby, but had no issue finding parking luckily. It's bright and spacious and you can find everything to groceries, skincare, bakery items, and plenty of freshly made food. I found out that are under the same ownership of Mega Mart, so the grocery items were not anything I couldn't find there in the South Bay. However, the fresh meat and seafood department was a huge plus! I stocked up on some typical Korean grocery items, but I also grabbed their 3 piece inari that had salmon, tuna, and crab meat. This was very good and $12! I also picked up some fresh manila clams and they were all very good and reasonably priced. In the hot food section I got their kimbap which was not good unfortunately. I liked that it had egg, but the texture and taste really made the kimbap off. I also got their bulgogi and rice and for $12, it was a big portion and though sweet, very good. However, the biggest disappointment was the soy sauce crab. I had it from here before and it tasted fresh and for just over $20 for one crab, I thought a really good deal. There weren't many left and I grabbed two, each was about $23. It should've been a red flag when the soy sauce leaked a bit in my grocery bag. These tasted so off and were definitely spoiled that I had to toss them. Overall a nice addition to the area and would go back again for the seafood and meat section.

Yelp
우와! (u-wa!) -- Korean for Wow. Jagalchi is a 75,000-square-foot Korean culinary complex that opened in March 2025 that describes itself as "a modern fusion of grocery shopping, dining, and cultural experiences", not just "the place to get milk cream donuts", which is what drew us. So, it has a grocery market that specializes in Korean ingredients, specialty sauces, noodles, fruits, and snacks. We got some miniature chocolate cakes and hard apple cookies before realizing they were Korea's version of Lil' Debbie. We also got some spicy cheese dogs on a stick (too spicy for me) and cleaned them out of the $3 milk cream donuts that the wife has been seeing on Instagram. Best of all, we found the soft-serve pouches we were so dependent on in Japan's heat- frozen milkshakes that run $1.50-2.50 each in bulk. They also have the POGU Restaurant led by Chef Tony Yoo, the first Korean chef to earn a Michelin star in the traditional cuisine category, the Basquia Bakery (100% gluten-free bakery), Seafood & Butcher Counter, Oyster Bar & Cocktail Bar (with Korean liquors), and Grab-and-Go counter with hot food. We got a fried chicken breast and a separate rice bowl. There's also a Beauty Section, but I didn't need that. I just don't look in the mirror: it's cheaper.

Yelp
Jagalchi is such a great Korean supermarket, especially for the variety and freshness of their food. The produce and ingredients feel authentic, and the soju selection is massive. The layout can be a little confusing at first (you're not totally sure which way you're supposed to walk), but honestly, it kind of adds to the bustling, busy vibe of the place. I haven't tried the restaurant inside yet, but it's definitely on my list for next time. Can't wait to come back and explore more!

Yelp
Located in the Serramonte Center, Jagalchi is more than a Korean market. It is a Korean food complex offering a unique culinary experience. They have a variety of dining options that cater to every taste, from premium dishes to street food. Offerings include: - Michelin-starred POGU Restaurant - Fresh Seafood - Delicious Deli Food - Artisan Basquia Rice Bakery This was my first time here and just ate, so I only picked some groceries and kimbap for a snack. I would definitely come back on a future visit to Serramonte Center.

Yelp
Sometimes after watching a Kdrama you get curious about their food. Particularly tried a lot of Korean food already but there are still some that intrigues me. Happy to see that there is this really neat Korean Market in Daly City that not only has Korean groceries but also ready to eat Korean dishes. They have the jeon, gimbap, tteokbokki, Korean spicy fried chicken and even soy marinated crab. I have tried everything before but the soy marinated crab, I still have to gather some courage to try it. Still sitting in my fridge. They also have some sushi and sashimi offerings. Got to satisfy my craving for unagi and uni. My ultimate happy treat was the banana milk. Only got 2 packs and already out after 3 days. It being a grocery store, not much service required. Checking out is through a self-service kiosk. Though, they do have other counters that are manned by a person. The store is well-lit and easy to navigate. They have a small area by the pastries where they have tables where you can actually eat what you got in the store. Definitely coming back here ... soon!

Yelp
Went to Daly City this weekend for a trip to Jagalchi. I've seen a ton of social posts online, so I made it a goal to visit before the end of the summer. In a few words, it's a Korean Whole Foods. Tons of fresh food options and exotic fruit options. For the Bay Area, the prices are cheap! I took home some quality items like sesame oils, beef, and baked goods for half the cost it to find it in the city. It went around 11am and the crowds weren't bad. Worth a trip if you're looking for solid Korean food.

Yelp
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWW THIS PLACE IS HEAVEN ON EARTH. A BAR?? A RESTAURANT??? SKINCARE SETS FROM KOREA? No need to spend money on flights to Korea you get the best of the best here. The black sesame latte I had here was amazing amazing amazing. To go japchae SOLID samples??? Of frozen products?? Absolutely amazing. A Korean superstore in a mall in Daly City needs to be a must for your visit to the area
google avatar

Yelp
Everything in the store is so well organized and well kept! Despite the huge crowds, the store manages to keep clean and control the patrons well. It's crowded, but for good reason! Fresh produce, seafood, and meat and an assortment of Korean snacks you can only find here or in Korea! Seems like H-Matt doesn't even have this great of an assortment. Not to mention the wonderful pre-made foods that are well priced as well! I will definitely come back (but on a weekday next time to avoid the crowd )

Yelp
I was excited to check out Jagalchi after hearing the hype of a new, modern Korean market upcoming up in Daly City. I used to go to Mega Mart when I lived in South Bay so it was interesting to see this more upscale version. I love that they still have a bunch of authentic korean ingredients, snacks and prepared foods while presenting them in a way that's customer friendly. There's a great selection of prepared foods, marinated meats and seafood as well as alcohol. I love that they have a bar inside so you can try a new maekgolli or soju I got sushi to go ($15 for hamachi and salmon nigiri) that was pretty good for supermarket sushi and the sulpang (rice flour cake) at the bakery which was super yummy and not too sweet. Some of the prepared food looked just ok for the price but I do appreciate that they have some harder to find products (fresh kimchi and marinated raw crab) if you're looking for specialty foods.
google avatar

Kate X.

Yelp
This is a huge Korean market located inside a mall. It's clean and orderly, and there are a lot of deli food for sale at reasonable prices. I got the cheese ddeubokki and it was pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
Jagalchi reminds me of a Korean Whole Foods...bright, spacious, items nicely displayed with various stations of prepared foods, fresh seafood, marinated meats, bakery but with a restaurant/bar in the center of the complex. Basquia - Rice Flour Bakery is located inside Jagalichi but not a fan due to the texture, lack of moisture, flavor as items are made with rice flour. Great option for someone with gluten-allergies. Best time to visit is the weekday morning with less crowds, not rushed and moving with the "herd". Next time, I'll have a plan as i was definitely eyeing the shortribs (both flanken and English cut), pork, some prepared foods, sides (banchans) and makgeolli (Korean sparkling, raw-rice wine). Located off Highway 280 at Serramonte. Plenty of mall parking.
google avatar

Yelp
overall a super fun new korean grocery store in an already popping mall. it's much smaller than I expected and does not have proper dining hall seating (but you can sit outside the supermarket or at the bakery inside). there's less variety here than at hmart, and not as many deals. it was also kind of confusing to navigate around, as things weren't clearly categorized or the path wasn't intuitive. there are a few hot food options but I don't think the quality is amazing. the cheese tteokbokki ($8) had only 4 rice cakes but the spice was decent. the fishcake combo ($13.50) was pretty worth portion wise but they all tasted very similar even though they were supposed to have distinct flavors

Yelp
Korean market stepped up a notch! Reminds me of a a Korean Whole Food Market! Lots of meats, seafood to choose from for your own semi-home- cooking! Also a bar counter to eat sushi when you're hungry before shopping. It's fresh and friendly service. The store is huge and organized. It's almost a cultural experience for those who don't know a whole lot of Korean food & ingredients. You will find it at this market. Very organized and clean market. Energetic store! If you can't make it to Korea, go to Jagalchi for food adventure.

Yelp
My first time at Jagalchi, and I must say--I'm impressed! The store is clean, well-organized, and has such a beautiful aesthetic that I honestly felt like I could shop here forever. Any market that carries both founder and yellowtail sashimi is already an A+ in my book, and Jagalchi delivered. Beyond the fresh selections, everything felt thoughtfully curated, making the whole shopping experience enjoyable. The service was also fantastic--everyone I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and happy to answer my questions. It really made the visit feel welcoming and easy. I'll definitely be returning for my groceries and to try even more of their goodies and prepared foods. This place is such a gem!

Yelp
Jagalchi's been open for a few months and the fam & I made a day trip to check it out. There's plenty of parking near the main entrance on the northeast side. Or try your luck near Old Navy with all the mall shoppers. Huge, clean, has gluten free Rice Bakery Basquia, restaurant Pogu, a whole fresh sushi section with oyster bar, and so much more! Things we bought: Fresh veggies & fruits Mangosteen was $10/lb, ended up with a 3lb bag of about 15 pieces Microwaveable white sweet potatoes Bulgogi Kimbap was sooo good!! I ate almost the whole tray haha. They also have the fish cake variety. I didn't get to try the ready to eat Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap but the fam loved it! Sushi: Classic CA rolls w/ masago Fresh Salmon nigiri with cooked ebi shrimp, hamachi yellowtail Kimchi of course, solid flavor and is spicy! Pork Mandu buns-- as authentic as it gets! The filling tasted exactly like the Goon Mandu pan fried dumplings at Tofu Plus in Cupertino. Injeolmi dusted tteok rice cakes were more savory than I anticipated. There was this rainbow colored rice cake that was pricey at $14 and it did not taste good, flavor or texture-wise. Basquia Rice Bakery had samples of the creamy spicy rosé tteokbokki rice cakes with a chunk of fresh bread. They sell both rosé and original versions in a bread bowl. We also got sulpang pastries in strawberry cream & Dubai pistachio chocolate flavors. Sulpang texture is so interesting; it's a mix between sponge cake and firm Filipino puto rice cake. Don't be fooled by their Dubai inspired chocolate bar-- it's made of toasted coconut instead of traditional kataifi. Not bad though with dark chocolate. Check your order because they forgot my slice of sweet potato cake. I didn't realize until I got home. Banana pudding wasn't too sweet. They have a whole skincare area next to Basquia for all your beauty needs. Self check out is 10 items or less. Regular check out is at the main entrance. Employees are pretty chill and helpful. Gotta check out the frozen aisle, snacks, and restaurant next time! Reservations available. There's a whole open fridge of makgeolli/flavored rice wines worth looking at too. I spotted fave honey butter almond.

Yelp
We had fun today, so glad we waited 2 months. It's not packed like it's first open. Make shopping so much more relaxing! The bakery was so beautiful and relaxing ! Feel like I'm in a Korean cafe in a Kdrama! lol The snack and groceries are so affordable, same price as Hmart!! Especially the cooked food, it was super affordable. The Kimbap is only $6, the rice, meat, and veggie ratio is perfect- not too much rice. Perfect dinner portion!!

Yelp
I finally made it out there to Daly City's new Korean grocery store, Jagalchi. It is located in the popular Serramonte shopping center plaza where JC Penney store used to be. Plenty of parking spots, but weekend parking can get hectic starting at lunch hour and afternoons. The place is indeed spacious inside and employees are actually Korean folks. Looking good from a first impression. Professional and clean place. Prices for most items are definitely much cheaper and larger in packaging sizes compared to HMart stores or Mega Mart locations in the South Bay Area region. Owner operates Mega Mart as well. Interesting business. It's like a Costco for Korean groceries with a huge bakery cafe, restaurant, deli foods section, seafood section, produce & gifts area, and skincare retail/facial products section combined. Deli foods were convenient and a heavy foot traffic area. We purchased a Korean pancake for $10 and a Beef Bibimbap rice meal for $12. Everything is neatly packaged. Banchan side dishes and kimchi prices were decent. Found 3-pairs of kitchen gloves for $2 only and wet wipes with 70 sheets for $2 each. Soybean milk a carton for $2 is unbeatable. Nutritious and delicious. Very cheap and affordable. Korean snacks and beverages have the most competitive prices/affordable and very good here. Under $2.50 or just $5 each can get you a very good Korean snack. I went to Busan, South Korea a few times before. What you find on Jeju Island in South Korea (snacks & candies) can be found here. Jagalchi is very specific and brings over many Korean items from the Busan region. This store is authentic and reminds me of the chocolates and seaweeds I ate when visiting Busan years ago. Kitchenware products and BBQ grill equipments are all very good in quality. Love it. Ready-to-go over the counter deli foods is the main attraction here. I will definitely make a future visit again. Self checkout available too. Nice. Place is huge!

Yelp
H-Mart had a new cousin, and it's in the Serramonte shopping center along with many shopping arcades. Meet Jagalchi, your one stop shop for Korean goods. There's Pogu in the center of the supermarket, a sushi/seafood bar, and its bakery next door. Not a bad setup considering how some of us don't like walking in circles. To me, it's a fun place to shop since anything that's Korean needs plenty of attention. If there's at least one thing H-Mart had never included in our grocery list was the Korean green tea powder in many different sets. These are the latest additions after the skyrocketing popularity of Japanese matcha. In case there's going to be a matcha shortage in Japan, the matcha straight from the Jeju Island will be a perfect candidate. That's the reason why I came to Jagalchi for one reason, to try out the Korean matcha. I have yet to visit here once again if I have something I want straight from the grocery list. Mangosteens are one of the best purchases even if they don't have a price tag. Even though the lack of tourism has affected our nation's economy, it's doesn't affect how much we buy straight from other countries. Jagalchi will be one of the must-visits in my to-do list.

Yelp
Great addition to the Bay Area Asian food scene. Think of this place as the Korean version of Eatly. With an onsite dine in restaurant from Korea's first Michelin star chef (Tony Yoo). Great place to grab a quick bite from the hot food section where they make fresh Kim bap, Teokpokki or cutlets and sashimi and bento boxes. I would go on a weekday as it's much quicker to grab the fresh food made daily but sold out quickly on the weekends. There is also an onsite bakery using rice flower as their dough so it's gluten free. Honestly if you have a H-mart close to where you live you won't be missing much in regards of the fresh hot food served daily. But a solid option and you gotta check it out once

Yelp
Incredible grocery store!! Went to their bakery The carrot cake that we got was incredible. We loved it and we cry. We tried the cream sulpan, which was also amazing. The service was phenomenal and would definitely come back!

Yelp
Jagalchi Market has all your Korean needs! From skin care to snacks, grocery items and hot foods, a fish market and butcher, you will not go home empty handed! While they do have a large selection of items, some items are priced really high, while others are priced really well.. so pick and choose, and shop wisely! For example, a big bottle of ponzu sauce was only $4.50 but the big bottle of sriracha was $9... smh. We got white peaches and nectarines for $1.99/lb though, so that was pretty good! The inside is dark, with a very modern feel. Items are organized and the market is very clean. They have two entrances, self check out stations, and they offer carts and baskets to carry your goods. Along the backside, all the hot food and deli case items are displayed. It's pretty cute to see all the cute little aunties making their dumplings too. They have hot food you can grab and go like bbq, fried chicken pieces, bibimbap, etc but I did not like how they had fish cake skewers just all out in the open. They offer a ton of unique banchan, but the more main stream ones were missing, like fish cake, anchovies, potato salad, etc. They also sell house made kimchi. I grabbed one each of the sliced kimchi and radish kimchi... DISAPPOINTING. The sliced kimchi had a good texture and it wasn't overly spicy, but some pieces were pretty salty. In addition it wasn't sour or sweet or anything else. The radish though was just plain bad. It tasted like nothing at all... so sad. From the hot case, I grabbed a bulgogi kimbap and rose tteokbokki. The kimbap was okay.. again the flavor is just lacking. The beef didn;t really have a sweetness, the other items in the roll weren't pickly or flavorful and the sesame taste is very, very mild. The roll was pretty dry.. so you're gonna need some soy sauce, and spicy mayo to go with it. The rose tteokbokki was pretty good. It's SUPER creamy and mild flavored. I would have preferred a stronger gochujang taste, but that's my bad cause the dish was clearly not red at all lol If you can't eat spicy, this is the one for you. They put hellaaaaaa fish cakes and very few rice cakes, which is odd, but I'm not gonna complain. I am a fish cake girly! I'll probably go for the cheese option next time, just to have a little more spice. BTW they do have regular and cheese options for the tteokbokki, and the kimbaps come in multiple proteins so pick your flavaaa! Moving on, we made our way to the freezer section which was packed full of meats, snacks, desserts, etc. They had a great selection but we have limited space so we only picked up what we came for - MEAT AND FISH. You can order your meats by weight or you can pick from the prepacked options. They have wagyu cuts and A5. The marbling on these meats are insane. We didn't spring for the A5 this time, but we did get a couple diff cuts of the wagyu to grill. WHEEEWWWW the meat was sooooo tender and the price really isn't that bad! Definitely will be back for more of that. If you want marinated meats, they have this too, or you can just get one of the marinades they stock. They have a few cuts of fish and seafood to choose from but what you need to go for is the fresh sushi case. It's truly a sight to behold. The prices are market price, and IDK if you can request specific things from the chefs, however what they had laid out was plenty enough for me! I got my toro ($70/lb), scallops ($10/lb) and salmon (i don't remember how much this was, but it was fair). I saw a couple mixed sashimi platters, and some salmon that was already sashimi cut, but most of the fish were in slabs that you take home to cut yourself. They have sushi rolls but they're pricey! I'm sorry, but I'm not going to pay $18+ for a grocery store roll unless its rolled fresh to order. You can do you though! They do have masago, ginger and seaweed salad that you can buy as well however the seaweed salad is super expensive. It's $15/lb which is pretty steep compared to other places. None of the fish come with soy sauce unless you buy it sashimi cut already, and I didn't see an option to grab any packets near the case. They do have a bakery section but I didn't even bother to look at anything there. It was my bday so I already had like 4 cakes at home to eat, and the temptation to buy another sweet treat would have been way too great. Next time though! At self check out, they do offer some premium disposable utensils (fork, spoon, chopsticks), which is super handy. They only have paper bags and those are $0.10 each like plastic.

Yelp
This afternoon I finally had a chance to check out this huge footprint after all the hype subsided. This used to be the old Mervyn's then JC Penny's location. Now it's a Korean supermarket/restaurant. I entered the supermarket from the east parking lot entrance veering right toward the sashimi, sushi, and fish market. Eye appealing. But what I found unappealing was all the lookee loos with hands on & off of the prepared foods. That was true throughout the store. Big turn off for me. I did glance into the kitchen where I saw someone making unagi rice bowl. It looked very yummy. The center of the store was the sit down restaurant POGU. After making two rounds I left emptied handed through the mall entrance/exit.

Yelp
Very nice ambience, and menu is a unique fusion of traditional Korean flavors with western accompaniments and ingredients. We had the buckwheat noodles (cold dry dish), abalone hotpot, and blue crab cabbbage jjim (also cold dish). Additionally, they gave a free salad, side dishes (squid, potato salad, and kimchi), and flour bread with matcha spread. Overall, very refreshing selection for the warm summer months.

Yelp
Finally got to check this place out. Big place and lots to see, very overwhelming. Got some fresh and delicious seafood. A little expensive but some stuff are worth the price.

Yelp
IMHO Finally got to Jagalchi! Finding parking is a challenge here but have patience and pray. Jagalchi is a Korean megastore of "eye candy" food galore. It's so big they have a map posted of the store's massive layout. I came with a group of 4 and I was afraid we'd lose each other as we wandered throughout the store, which we did... Personally, I was overwhelmed by all of the colorful, unique, and delicious food items. There was just so much to see! You could spend hours here taking it all in. There is a wide variety of gojuchang, kimchi, noodles, dumplings, japchae, mushrooms, rice, tofu, and tons more. there is even a wall of ramen. The meat and seafood sections are impressive, but the bakery lacked. Occasionally they offer free food samples. There is also a full-service restaurant, Pogu. I left with a few snack goodies, but I want to go back for some hot foods or pre-packaged entrees. Overall, I look forward to returning again but next time with my hubby, who is the cook in our family. I think he'll be very impressed.

Yelp
This is a clean and relaxing place to shop during the middle of the day on a weekday, but navigating the parking lot can be tough during busier times. I think prepared foods are reasonably priced for the area and tasty. I have had the japchae, kimchi, and radish a couple of times now and the quality is consistent. The turnover here is fast enough that everything is fresh and packaged the same day. The only thing I would not recommend is the injeolmi which was a bit salty.

Yelp
There are so many options for their prepared foods!! They have seating near the checkout by the bakery if you buy their deli items, as well as a dine-in restaurant. The tteokbokki wasn't the warmest and not spicy but chewy and not too heavy. Bulgogi was a bit tough but the flavor was not too sweet and the rice was chewy. Mandu was too soft on the bottom and too much dough on the top but the meat was seasoned enough. Kimbap was very standard, no complaints. Overall, a good place to try a bunch of items with friends without breaking the bank! Quality is solid.

Yelp
I got the raw marinated spicy crab from the freezer section. The marinade was really tasty but I wish the crab was meatier. I bought the soy marinated crab from the fresh section and it was soo good! The seafood pancake is definitely worth trying too. The meat selection here is really good too. They have a bakery if you need any sweet treats.

Yelp
Finally got to check out the place people were talking about. Jagalchi is more than just a supermarket. It has a bakery, a whole restaurant and, of course, groceries. The store itself is massive. There are entrances from every side. They have pretty much everything Korean imaginable. From pre-made meals to fresh sashimi to ramyun, if you are craving anything, chances are they have it. I really enjoy their fresh seafood section. They have really good cuts of both tuna (and toro!) and salmon along with salmon roe for some homemade dons. Their pre-made food section all looked really good and I will definitely try some on my next visits. I would love to come back here to try the food at both the restaurant and the bakery. Both of which look amazing.

Yelp
This place is beautifully organized, well stock and clean. The meat and fish are good quality and the selection is great. The fruit though isn't the freshest and the price is ok. You have to be careful of the lower costing goods as they usually are near their expiration date. The staff here unfortunately aren't knowledgable or friendly so it isn't a place I would recommend to friends or family unless you're in the area. +0 Vibe +1 Taste +1 Presentation +0 Service +0 Value

Yelp
Bougie Korean grocery store. Clean , aesthetically pleasing inside. Samples are provided in some areas albeit there was a crowd. There is a sushi section with nigiri and inari available. The price was affordable but the taste was mid, and not noteworthy. The hot foods area they have meat buns , roasted sweet potato , teakbokki ( sweet and spicy, rose, carbonara), prepared meats (didn't try), kimbap. The hot food area was affordable. The kimbap was $6. The teakbokki was $8. Etc. They had osullac tea available for sale which was awesome. I saw some zero calorie drinks in a bag that they were selling and some neat looking alcohol in pretty bottles There are some places to eat at the bakery, but you can't bring the shopping cart in. They have rice cakes at the bakery with different toppings like injealmi, sesame, and they even sold Dubai chocolate and cafe drinks. Definitely worth checking out. Skip the sushi , and go for the hot food area and get things like teakbokki , Mandu, etc. and other stuff. I would order the kimbap and mandu again because it's cheap and healthy ish. It won't be the best Korean food you ever had, but it's affordable and worth shopping around to look at all the imported stuff.

Yelp
Walking around grocery stores has become my new form of therapy and hobby. Glad to see more and more new businesses open up in the Bay Area. I've been here a handful times so I know every aisle by heart LOL. My first impression walking into Jagalchi was super spacious in the entrance. Although I do wish the layout of the whole store was designed a bit better because once you around to the back, it gets a bit cramped and people start stepping on your toes. The cafe/bakery section is really tight too. They don't let you bring your cart in so make sure you eat before you shop. My favorite section would be the sushi section. 10 nigiri's for $15 is actually a pretty good steal. The raw marinated crab was also a really good deal. I think it was under $13. Definitely worth trying. Overall, great addition to the neighborhood. FYI parking is a bit tough esp during the weekends. 06.01.2025

Yelp
I made the long drive to the city SO excited for this new Korean grocery store, but walked away LET DOWN and disappointed. There are tons of people sauntering in every direction. The cooked food booths, all the way in the back is like walking in Chinatown, shoulder to shoulder. Korean Seafood Pancake - This was the ONLY thing that was packed with flavor. MUST leave trying this Kimbap, everything else - No flavor, lacks aroma, as if someone drained the life and soul from the ingredients or the chefs Anyways, it's a place to visit once but I wouldn't travel the distance to shop at this grocery store.

Yelp
Amazing! I am in awe at how big this grocery store is and it has so many products! Came here to check it out after all the hype & the prices for fruit, meats, and products are pretty reasonable. There is so much to see and the premade food is delicious. We got the meat mandu, kimchi, braised crab, a bimbimbap, and vegetable japchae. The grocery store is clean and the staff are helpful and have great customer service! Def worth the visit and the food is really good! Next time, I will have to try the seafood!
