"Jamonera’s dark, tavern-like space in Midtown Village may make you temporarily forget that you’re in Philadelphia, and that’s exactly why we like it. There’s a long bar up front that takes up the entire front of the restaurant, plus a few tables in the back that are mostly two-tops hosting first dates. We like their cured meat and cheese boards, and their paellas are good for sharing if you want something a bit more substantial. They also have a pretty extensive sherry menu that you can get in flights of three, or in the form of sherry hot sauce (which is a better investment in our opinion)." - Sydney McElwee

We were looking for somewhere to eat and casually stumbled upon this restaurant. We waited for a couple awkward minutes to be seated but this was understandable because of how busy it was. We sat outside and decided to start off with a cheese and meats platter which was fantastic and rich. Our waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable on the plates that we ordered. Our main course was the paella mezcla which was big enough for two. For dessert we went with the churros accompanied by a spicy chocolate dip which was something different but extremely good. The drinks were just as good as everything else.

Great Spanish food, I love it. I was here twice and what can I say? Food is amazing, anything you order will taste like heaven )). We ordered several dishes that we eat in Barcelona and I can tell you that from very first bite it took me back to Barcelona. This place is highly recommended.

I'm a big tapas fan, though I find the tapas at Jamonera just okay. I remember feeling that way many years ago when I last came here, and after last weekend I still feel the food isn't that great. I found the flavors all over the place and certain components just too intense which throw the flavors of the dish off balance. For Spanish tapas in Philly, I prefer Amada or Tinto. Originally wanted to go to El Vez to dine outside, but it was full, so settled for Jamonera which had plenty of seating. My white sangria was good at least, especially sitting outside on a nice evening.

OMG!!! Best Spanish restaurant I’ve ever tried! Those side and dish were really authentic and tasty! All the staffs were really kind and friendly. The vibe looks so exotic and moody! Wanna visit this restaurant if I visit Philly again!!!

The food is ok - probably good in a la carte menu but on Feb 14 it was chefs menu. To start with I think they went with chefs menus to handle the crowd and it was priced at 65$ The taste of the food was mediocre at best, one of the dishes was salty, the sea food paella was burnt in the bottom, it has to be crispy not burnt. The honey cheesecake was ok - they only had 3 dessert options and nothing was amazing. For 65$ per head - I expected more and it was 3 course meal. We were seated in the middle, it becomes really cold when some one opens door and get very uncomfortable. Also it’s a small place and they had so many seats - it’s like they wanted as many people in there possible with out exceeding the fire hazard limit. We so close to our neighbors - we could totally hear what they were whispering - not very romantic experience.

Jamonera never disappoints. In a city filled with Tapas wannabes...Jamonera leans in with inspired creations rooted in authentic Spanish flavor, prep & presentation. Tonight was a special night the Jamonera. The annual two night Summer Tomato Tapas Dinner. Ten courses of summer tomato bluas. Combined with the 3 course cocktail & wine pairing to go with it is heaven on 10 small plates and 3 glasses. Highlights include Heirloom Tomato Salad with Whipped Feta, Crispy Mahon Cheese, Tomato Crema Catalan with a bruleed top...yes BRULEED... and the star of this years tomato feast Plancha Seared Branzino. The staff is attentive, efficient and charming as always... including the manager, our server, and support staff. Be sure not to miss other Jamonera special menu offerings...Paella Nights should not be missed.

Delicious paella and sweet churros. I can’t say much more about the appetizers now since I had a bit too much and I usually don’t do drinks at restaurants... tells you how good the Sangria is.

Overall it was a good experience. Service was good. Noise level was reasonable. The food hit the mark most of the time. Too much salt would be my only complaint. The gem salad was really good. Highly recommended. We liked the lamb as well. Definitely worth checking this spot out.
