The Best Jerk Chicken In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Jamrock’s jerk chicken is sneaky. It starts with a tickle in your nose and then creeps down into your throat. The tender meat and warm spices lull you into a sense of comfort before the peppers get you. For the full experience, be sure to dip the chicken into their house sauce, which is made with the drippings from the meat. Proceed with caution, though, or your uvula will feel like an old speedbag at a boxing gym." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

The Best Jamaican Restaurants In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"This family-run spot in Kendall isn’t just a great place to pick up jerk chicken or curry goat. It’s where folks from the neighborhood pop in to catch up on the gossip between bites of ackee and saltfish. Regulars know to call in their order ahead. But if you didn’t do that, you can eavesdrop and munch on a spicy beef patty while you wait. This is mostly a takeout operation, but they have a couple of tables outside if you want to eat your oxtail right away." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino

The Best Jamaican Patties in Miami

"You can hear the reggae music playing outside Jamrock Cuisine before you even step through the door. And while this family-owned restaurant gets their patties from a local distributor, you can still count on the crunch of a golden, flaky crust and tasty fillings that you can enjoy at one of their two outdoor tables next to the entrance. Beyond the standard beef, chicken, and vegetable patties, they offer a spinach version instead of callaloo. You can also order a plantain tart here, which is similar to a patty with mashed sweet plantains that isn’t overly sweet." - yolande clark jackson

Google
We wanted to try Jamaican food and we got lucky with this place. We walked in and felt very welcomed. This place appeared to be a family owned restaurant, they helped us decide on our order and we chose to eat in; we were lucky to get a table, there were only two available outside only. This place is mostly a to go style restaurant. We ordered two 1/2 order chicken curry, and one dinner curry ox tail. What tremendous portions at a great price and unbelievable flavors. Food was fresh and served quickly, there were a lot of people but mostly to take their food to go. This is an absolute hidden gem. There is not much to the atmosphere, they serve the food in styrofoam, even if you choose to eat outside you will get your food in a styrofoam container. They also provided us with cups and cold water in a bottle to serve ourselves. We highly recommend this place and we look forward to returning.

Google
Overall great food having tried the jerk pork and chicken. Very large portions for a reasonable price. Friendly and helpful customer service. Restaurant is typically busy so best to call in your order and there also is no indoor seating. Not sure if you can sit outdoors but I don’t believe so.

Google
I just tried the Brown Stew Chicken here, and wow, it was so tasty! The spice was just right, and it totally reminded me of my grandma’s cooking. The place feels super cozy and welcoming, like you’re visiting family. Everyone was so friendly, especially Shereena with her bright, contagious smile that made my day. Honestly, this is the best Jamaican spot on 88th Street in Kendall. I can’t wait to come back!

Google
Excellent food, very friendly staff, excellent service. Felt like I was at the dinner table at a family member's house. Loved that family atmosphere. This was my first time going and I'll definitely be back when I'm in town. I had the oxtail dinner with rice and peas. My friends had curry chicken and brown stew chicken. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. They even let us stay and finish our dinner well past closing time. That was gracious and they didn't have to do that. Shows just how much they care for their customers!!

Google
Excellent! Got the jerk wings and curry chicken patty and both were really good! Even the sauces !! Although I did wish there was some actual jerk sauce rather than just the seasoning but still enjoyed it !

Google
I tiny jem tucked away in a small storefront. Most things made to order right before your eyes.ALL FROM SCRATCH and I mean it cause I had to waite awhile for my order to be prepared. The ingredients are of the highest quality as I questioned the owner's daughter where her fish was sauced. No tilapia hiding for something else. Comes from a well-known fishery in the Keys daily.I clutched my heart in astonishment at the thought of a business not trying to ring the last bit of profit with inferior ingredients and leftover remicroved and pre-cooked chemicals. Their jamaican patties LET ME REMIND YOU MADE RIGHT IN THE BACK are sold before they come out the overn. I sweare to you!!!no lie!!! Did I have ONE?Did I have TWO ore even THREE??? ....No sar.I polished off FOUR!!! They also carry a small selection of Caribbean breads and cakes sodas and groceries. Got myself my Matukes pepper sauce and cheifs curry at an extreamly reasonable price. This is more a carryout than eat-in place.

Google
Nice family-run takeout place with some outdoor seating. Good meal selection and cultural products. Had a jerk chicken wrap, yuca fries, and bread pudding. Everything was excellent but mostly I couldn't get over how good the yuca fries were!! I'll be back!

Google
Amazing food and even better owners. Going to Jamrock is like visiting family. Their hospitality will make you feel just like home. My personal favorites are their jerk chicken pasta and snapper. 10/10 recommend this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed! Such amazing and loving people, truly.

Yelp
The place was nice, and the food was good. Service was quick, but the inside is a very small, no sitting room just grab an go. There was a young gentleman there that in my eyes was not getting treated the best infront of customers which really rubbed me the wrong way and I felt bad for him. I get there's learning and hoping the person improves and training at what they are doing but to belittle infront of customers is a no go.

Yelp
Amazing!!! Wow!!! First thing we noticed was the customer service. Great!!! The food is exquisite - comes out quick! I chose Brown Stew Chicken and Curry Chicken. Both great.. but, that Brown Stew Chicken is highly addictive. The rice and peas with cabbage, great pairing with sweet plantains. Conch soup Saturdays?! Will lift your spirits and wake the dead. Perfect pairing after a night out! Don't forget the patties- Jerk Chicken sexy and spicy. Vegan? No worries!' Their Veggie Patty with cabbage- exquisite. Let's not forget our Curry Chicken Patty-tasty and mild. Grab a Ginger Beer and sold! This is fantastic food with great and happy ambiance! Must try DO NOT pass it up!

Yelp
This is one of my spots for jamaican cuisine! The oxtail is to died for! I always order a family meal the portion is good for 2 if you want to share. The staff are super friendly and polite. This place is a gem on the wall, where it is mainly for take out and offer outsite seating. If you are in the kendall area and want jamaican food this is the spot! Psst... if you want more oxtail in you order order the hungry man!

Yelp
Can't beat a local place with friendly service and great authentic food! To start we had spicy beef patties which are great. Ordered the Saturday ONLY special Conch soup. The broth was delicious but could use a few more bits of conch. The jerk chicken wrap was flavorful and the oxtail with rice and beans was excellent with lots of meat that falls off the bone! It's a small location with a few seats outside, so make sure you get there early as it's very popular and can run out of patties if that's what you're looking for.

Yelp
Jamaican flavor, reasonably priced, friendly owner/staff - what more could you ask for? It's a small spot where you order at the counter and hope the weather is great enough to sit outside and enjoy your meal. There is a pretty extensive menu written up on the board and the staff will gladly help you choose if you are overwhelmed with all of the different options. What we ended up with: Ox tail curry dinner portion: Amazing dish full of oxtail with a nice light curry spice to the sauce. Portion comes with rice, some veggies, some plantains, and of course, the protein. Highly recommended Curry chicken dinner portion: Similar flavor as the ox tail above with chicken that is super tender and delicious Brown sauce chicken: A different twist to the chicken preparation but still full of flavor Jerk Chicken: Deliciously cooked chicken with a nice jerk flavor and some sauce on the side. Overall, the waitstaff was super friendly, helpful, and attentive - would definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area!

Yelp
I'm happy I've found good Jamaican cuisine in Kendall because I grew up eating this food. The customer service is top notch, they are so friendly and even walk out occasional to check up on customers dining outside. The food is reasonably priced for Miami. I tried the oxtail with rice and peas as well as a beef and curry chicken patty. The oxtail was full a flavor and fall off the bone. Lots of meat in each chunk. The beef patty was only okay to me but the curry chicken patty was amazing! So spicy and delicious was my favorite thing here to far. The location itself is very small inside. Very colorful, bright and welcoming vibe. You would have to eat outside with the tables provided or take out. Huge plaza so plenty of parking.

Yelp
After COVID we lost one of our favorite local go to Jamaican restaurant and sadly have been doing without for about a year, but a couple weeks ago while chatting with one of my Yelp friends she recommended JAMROC. On Thursday evening I was in the Kendall area and decided to give it a try. When we arrived was surprised it was a very small place, but seemed cozy with only two tables outside if you are looking to dine at restaurant, but seems most of their business is carry out and delivery orders. Owners Chef Maurice Chang is cooking in back kitchen and Marcia taking care of walk in customers and delivery orders. Their food is Jamaican chineaste fusion and you can tell when you walk in and greeted by Marcia's super friendly personality and the savory aroma of cooking food and spices that you know it's going to be a good experience. Place is very clean and their is a constant flow of people coming and going, but Marcia handles it well spending enough time with us to become familiar with their food and helping us out with first order. We ordered Oxtail and also the Jerk Chicken/Pork combo with a side of roti and goat curry sauce. When food was ready we decided to eat at their outside tables and it was served up quickly and gotta say that it was VERY delicious. Sauce on Oxtail was amazing and meat was cooked to perfection and slide right off the bone. Jerk chicken and pork was also very good and roti's accompanied with goat curry was also very good. Portion were good size so we opted to take bread pudding dessert home. Our experience here was beyond what was expected and glad we now have our new goto place for Jamaican food. Highly recommend this place in Kendall!

Yelp
The service here is amazing. It might be a small place but you know it's good when the place is small very neat and organized with a lot of different drinks from Jamaica and seasonings. The customer service was outstanding. Very nice. It makes you feel like you're at home. they also asked me if I want extra gravy with no charge. It was amazing. You have to try it and the portion makes my plate so heavy.

Yelp
Their food is top of the line Jamaican cuisine! We recently ordered food for our Christmas party and they were very thorough with the preparation, storage and instructions for the food since I had to keep it for one night before the party! They're also va very nice family-owned business! They're very friendly and have high vibration. I really love their food. It is so tasty and fresh!

Yelp
Delicious, authentic Jamaican food. Yum! I've watched some spots I've loved growing up, close up shop and the owners have grown older and generations haven't taken it over. This fact leaves me looking for replacement spots every time I go home. Now, I have found one. The menu has all the favorites and taste amazing! My grandmother has gotten old and can't make some the the favs my kids and I came up eating from her kitchen. Thanks to Jamrock Cuisine, my kids got the Hominy Corn porridge they have been missing!! Yum! This place is a must-stop every time I go home to Miami.

Yelp
The food was sensational. The oxtail was so tender and rich in flavor 10/10. The moment I walked in I was met by a warm smile and good conversation. The ambiance was very inviting def gotta check them out.

Yelp
Best Jamaican food I've ever had so far in Miami. It's a longer drive for me but worth it rather than being disappointed by more local places. I'm currently remodeling my kitchen so I can't cook for myself so they are a good place to get a nice meal vs careless fast food joints. Always fresh and the staff is always nice and in good vibes. Love it and they make jerk pork with the skin. That's the best part but so many restaurants don't give you pork with the skin here.

Kaylee W.

Yelp
Absolutely adore this place! Staff is friendly and food is amazing. Best Jamaican food spot in town :) would recommend.

Yelp
Welcome to Jamrock! I must say this is the best Jamaican spot I've ever eaten from. We got takeout, so can't speak to the atmosphere or location, but the food is fire! I personally ordered the curry goat, but made it a point to try a little of everyone's meals which included: oxtail, jerk chicken, and brown stew chicken. The curry goat was bomb. Jam-packed with flavor, a perfect amount of spice and nice meaty chunks. The oxtail was delectable. Fall off the bone tender and bone-sucking good. The brown-stew chicken was the best I'd ever had. I normally stick to goat or oxtail at Jamaican spots, but this had me licking the plate. The jerk chicken was my least favorite, but still very good. I only ate one small piece and it was a piece of breast meat that was a little on the dry side, but again, not bad by any means. Will 100 percent want to eat here again when in the area.

Mingo B.

Yelp
Amazing!!! Had the kitchen sink soup due to a cold and boy was it . Also ordered the jerk wings , two patties (curry were to die for), and a great banana bread. Woke up brand new! Service amazing, great vibe, and order was ready within 30 mins of my call. Must try and will be a frequent customer as it's a Kendall gem.

Yelp
This place is amazing, the food and the service is great. I love family run businesses.

Rafael L.

Yelp
Amazing local patty spot. Haven't tried the other menu items but the patties in coco bread are to die for. The family that works there are a group of angels making the customers feel at home, which is a rare sight in Miami. The only patty I've had that has rivaled the iconic Sonia's patty's.
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Food is amazing and they have great customer service! they have the best oxtails I ever tasted
google avatar

Dale W.

Yelp
Great beef patty and coco bread! The oxtails were great, and the rice and peas were flavorful. The stewed chicken had great flavor, but had some pieces that were dry and may have overcooked. Overall, I give it 4 stars and I will return!
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
It's a small family owned business that has great service and even better food. My favorite is their oxtail!
google avatar

Stef L.

Yelp
Jamrock is one of my favorite go to restaurants! Everything I've tried on the menu was perfect! Tasty authentic Chinese Jamaican and Jamaican dishes and experience! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND eating here!
google avatar

Perry C.

Yelp
Terrible Jamaican food and service. I will never be coming back. The place looked very dirty and the food didn't have any spice or love in it.
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
My gosh any time I'm in the area I just have to stop here. The food is so good and authentic. The staff is friendly and helpful. Good all around and consistent.
google avatar

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Maybe I just got the wrong thing (???) but to call this jerk... it's almost insulting. There was absolutely no Jamaican jerk spice/taste to the chicken and it's rice, chopped up chicken breast and rice for $12. I'm good and will never return, thanks

Max I.

Yelp
Small order mishap but was handled wonderfully and complimented w amazing plantain-tarts. Perfect atmosphere.

Jack R.

Yelp
The Best in West Indian Food. The Staff is like Family. Every dish is cooked with love. This Love takes time so relax and be patient. The wait is well worth it. The oxtail and curry goat are my favorite dishes. The soups are fabulous. The costs are reasonable. Jack from New Jersey

Yelp
Omg!!! I can't say enough amazing things about this place!! Was staying nearby for a wedding and my wife mentioned some Jamaican food; so a quick yelp review led us here!!! Thank you baby Jesus!!! Google maps was messing up and we ended up taking a scenic route to get here and walked behind some restaurants before finding this place but man were we excited!!! Great customer service!! The employee even let us get half curry and half jerk chicken!!! It was delicious!! The patties were out of this world too!!! If we're ever nearby again we'll definitely be visiting here! There's also a rewards member program (if I remember correctly) and they have some snacks/beverages you can buy too!!! If you're in the area make sure you grab a bite to eat here!!!
google avatar

Kate A.

Yelp
This local Jamaican spot has been in this plaza for years the young lady working the counter informed me when I mentioned I was happy to have found this place in my neighborhood. Tucked away in a shopping plaza, the food was very good. I would suggest calling ahead to get your order I. So you don't have to wait long. I had the brown stewed chicken which is my favorite Jamaican dish and it did not disappoint. My husband had the escovitch and thoroughly enjoyed. I had a curry chicken patty that was AMAZING!

Craig Q.

Yelp
They say the small "hole in the wall" restaurants are the best and this one was no exception. Delicious sauces, moist meat, a smile on everyone's face. Not much more you can ask for!
google avatar

Cathy B.

Yelp
Very happy this place exists. It's difficult to find good Jamaican food. I drive from homestead to visit this location whenever I get a chance. The staff is always so friendly and hilarious. I'm normally very shy but they bring out that inner social side of me; anyways the food is great. By far the best beef Patties, the jerk chicken is on point and that pork is juicy and tender. I have a List of other items I'm going to try whenever I go back.
google avatar

Pablo M.

Yelp
It was so good. So good. I ordered tofu curry and I had to call to complain that there was meat in it. Well, obviously, there wasn't. It was soya meat. Perfect curry.
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
Ordered the half Ox Tail and Jerk Chicken Pasta and :00000. I've had so much ox tail in my life and so far this is the best I've had. My friend ordered the Jerk Chicken Pasta and it's just as creamy and rich as you'd hope. The wait is a little long but for the quality of food you can't go wrong. Super super good and a new favorite in the area for sure!! :')
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
Food and customer service was out of this world!! Shereena was absolutely wonderful! So glad my friend recommended this spot. The food was hot and fresh and wait time was under 10 mins!
google avatar

Lorraine A.

Yelp
Food is absolutely Devine the Pattie's are delicious good variety love it only is they close too early
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
Very mediocre Jamaican food. I am sure they can do better. It's a shame, cause I love Jamaican food.

Yelp
I've heard f this place for years...and for all these years I've missed out on its greatness...we'll...I've come to jamrock!!! And will, without a doubt, be back! The staff: nothing compares to the warmth and connection you feel when the owners take pride in their business. From the second you walk in you're welcomed and made to feel like someone that's been coming for years. Warm, inviting, and sure to make you feel at home. The food: where to begin?! My kiddos and I ordered the suey mein. I cannot begin to explain the depth of the broth!!!!! My kid literally tilted the bowl and basically licked it clean. Add to that some really delicious pork, shrimp and other goodies and it will not leave you disappointed. Lastly I was given tips on how to eat it with the sauce they provide and I can say that the dip and drip technique is a new fave of mine!!!! Hubby had the jerk chop...can't say much about it since he finished it before I can taste it...so I suppose that says how good it was since he literally devoured it. Verdict: coming back for their soups of the day this coming week as I now want to try all their other menu items. Definitely recommend

Richard G.

Yelp
As authentic and home made as you'll find. The staff is great. Nice variety too...from the best patties in Kendall to jerk chicken that hits perfectly always.
google avatar

Tamika S.

Yelp
The environment is very clean and the staff are very nice. They have great hospitality service. Most importantly, the food and cuisine is delicious. They even gave us a sample to try the food before we purchased it. What more can I say. I love their soup and also there homemade Seamoss is great for common colds and overall allergies and your digestive system. It also helps with headaches and high blood pressure.

Yuraymis G.

Yelp
Highly recommend it. The service is great, owners are super friendly. Everyone is welcoming and very nice.
google avatar

Ed W.

Yelp
I love Jamrock. Caribbean food at its best. Food here has that homemade quality and feel. From oxtail to jerk chicken is all good. The owners are always here and they are funny and always happy that you are there. This is a very small place only 3 tables to eat in but most people just take it to go. If you haven't been here.... just come.... it is good, inexpensive and friendly.

Amanda L.

Yelp
The food is amazing I got the Jerk chicken with rice and peas and it was soo good. customer service is also great the two girls that helped me out were super nice.

Yelp
This is by far the best Jamaican food in South Florida! My husband and I travel all the way from Fort Lauderdale to Kendall to get Jamaican food from here. The family that owns and runs the restaurant are so welcoming and nice and extremely accommodating. The food is very plentiful and portions are huge! We have tried many items on the menu they are Jamaican beef patties are always hot and fresh and very tasty! We've also had the curry chicken, brown stew chicken, jerk chicken, as well as oxtail. Each item is better than the next. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that has a Jamaican food urge. I would love to go back and try some of their Chinese food items as well.

Tyler N.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Miami. And I don't mean just the best Jamaican restaurant. I mean the best in Miami in any category. The only problem I have with this restaurant is it takes me way too long to decide what I want because I want everything. Everything I try is the best thing I have ever tried.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Quick and attentive service, delicious meals! The food was authentic and had great flavor. I will definitely be back. There was curry sauce served with the chop and another delicious sauce served with the wrap!!
google avatar

Christine A.

Yelp
Driest food I ever ate Zero flavor This food is not fresh , there was hair and weeks of old food under the tables . This place is filthy ! CLEAN IT !

John C.

Yelp
A really terrific experience. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly, they treat you as if you're walking into their home. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny, it's more of a takeout joint but there are a couple of tables inside and outside. We had the jerk chicken fried rice, jerk chicken wrap, spicy meat patty, and a pumpkin cream cheese cake that is available only during this time of year. Everything was absolutely delicious and authentic. I definitely recommend this place.

Sofia M.

Yelp
I had the privilege of eating from this restaurant today and it was AMAZING. Food was great, cheap, quick, and incredibly delicious. We ordered the JERK CHICKEN PASTA( actually insane!! The flavor was amazing),CHICKEN SOUP (as expected, incredibly delicious),SPICY BEEF PATTY (delicious classic), RUM CAKE (this was crazy good), and PLANTAIN TART (super good and sweet). It's hard to pick a favorite item. Service was so awesome, they were SO NICE AND FRIENDLY!! It was such a welcoming environment and will definitely be coming back and sharing the word. Thank you
