Jams Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"There are two different ways to look at Jams, the Midtown re-vamp of celebrity chef Jonathan Waxman's alleged 80's "hit" restaurant nobody was clamoring for. If you look at it through the lens of someone who's tuned into the world of chefs, restaurants, and the expectations that come along with big time openings, then Jams is an unmitigated disaster. Jonathan Waxman is a big name and a great chef. Barbuto was pioneering, and remains one of New York's most cherished restaurants; we went recently, and everything we ate was fantastic. Jams, on other hand, is a hot mess. The service is amateur hour, the food is about as exciting as wearing a suit to work in the sweaty summer, and they pretty much miss the mark on all "hospitality" details. Servers were like ghosts who left dirty plates on the table for the entire meal, never refilled waters, and generally didn't seem to care that paying customers sat in seats, hungry and potentially looking for another alcoholic beverage. Some of the food is fine, but it's nothing worth going out of your way for, and some of it is very, very bad. We had inedible gnocchi (how is that even possible?). I hope Jonathan Waxman is home counting cookbook money or cooking at his great new restaurant in Nashville, because it'd be really embarrassing if he was actually in the kitchen at Jams, and not just the face of it. If we were ranking Jams solely based on the failure of one of the biggest restaurant openings of the year, it would be awarded a 2.0. In that respect, this place is a joke. On the other hand, this is Midtown. There are plenty of people in this part of town in desperate need of reasonable restaurants, who don't really care who the chef is or how good the food is supposed to be. Sometimes you're just looking for a centrally located, stylish place to entertain a client who's in town from Tampa. For Midtown business meetings where food and restaurant experience isn't the main focus, well, Jams is a pretty solid option. If we were ranking Jams solely on a scale of Midtown, it gets a 7.0. Ultimately, Jams is kind of like the restaurant version of a Men's Wearhouse suit. If you care about style at all, you wouldn't be caught dead rocking one. However, if you simply couldn't care less - and seriously, BLESS YOU - and are content rocking that baggy, boxy uniform, well then, you won't be bothered by Jams' shortcomings. Lucky for us, we don't have to wear suits to the office. Food Rundown Bigeye Tuna Poké Tuna poké, so hot right now. Jams goes Asian style, with soy and sesame and the results are pretty good. It was one of the better dishes we tasted. Jams Pancakes A mini stack of silver dollars dressed all for prom with smoked salmon, caviar and a bunch of other bling. This is the expensive prom date you'll wind up regretting though. They're not terrible, but they're not worth $25. They do look pretty, though. Calamari Huge pieces of blubbery, slippery octopus come drizzled in aioli, and are really tough to chew on. We didn't like this one at all, and would certainly stay far away. Especially if eating big tentacles sounds intimidating. Gnocchi Gummy nuggets of potato-filled pasta which had no texture, and no flavor, mixed with a minimal medley of fixins including brussels sprouts and pecorino, which somehow tasted, literally, like nothing. No flavor. No substance. Really, really disappointing, especially considering the kind of gnocchi we're used to eating at Barbuto. Squid Ink Rigatoni Better than the gnocchi, but still, nothing to write home about. We liked the healthy helping of crab, but could have gone for additional ingredients as this was once again, a snooze. Jams Chicken A totally fine plate of bird, it's just not on the Barbuto level, which is one of the most legendary chicken dishes ever. We'd order it again though if we found ourselves here. Wild Striped Bass A nicely cooked piece of white fish, swimming in a sauce that was way too thin, with charred leeks and salsa verde. Overall, we liked this one. It could have been better, but we'd order it again. NY Steak Nothing to see here. Tasty steak, with sides of fingerling potatoes, shallots and served with chimichurri. We ate it, we'd eat it again, but we won't be thinking about it." - Andrew Steinthal

"Chef Jonathan Waxman was one of Alice Waters' protégés, and after stints at Chez Panisse and Michael's in Santa Monica, he was one of the first to bring that hyper-fresh, California-style cooking to New York. His new restaurant at 1 Hotel Central Park resurrects the name of his first-ever New York operation, and brings that same seasonal cuisine to a spacious corner space with simple, Scandinavian-style design. Because it’s connected to the hotel, there are several private rooms available for events and celebrations as well. Obviously, get the chicken."

5 stars! What a charming spot! Perfect for a relaxing weekend breakfast with the family. We ordered the bagel with salmon, pancakes, and brioche French toast. Everything was beautifully prepared and served in generous portions. You can tell there’s real care put into the food. The almond croissant was a standout. It was flaky, rich, and packed with real almond flavor. If you’re a true croissant lover, you’ll be in heaven. The ambiance, both indoors and out, is cozy and welcoming. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

One of my absolute favorite breakfast spots in NYC! Their Greek yogurt with granola is served to perfection—fresh, creamy, and beautifully balanced. The green juice is equally amazing, refreshing and full of flavor. The natural design of the space, filled with greenery, creates a calm and inviting atmosphere that’s hard to find in the city. It’s got such a wonderful ambiance—perfect for a relaxed start to the day. Plus, the location couldn’t be better. It’s just steps from Central Park, making it the ideal place to enjoy a delicious breakfast before a peaceful walk. I absolutely love it here!

Had a great brunch at Jams! We tried the Salmon Everything Bagel, Brioche French Toast, and Greek Yogurt Parfait, along with some coffee. The salmon bagel was packed with toppings, which was a big plus. The parfait was fresh and delicious. The French toast was a huge portion—definitely filling! The ambiance was really nice, and the interior design gives off that laid-back Californian vibe, which I loved. Overall, a great spot for brunch, and I’d definitely go back for dinner!

We planned a fun brunch with a larger group of friends to celebrate a birthday and had an excellent time! Their staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Their food is delicious, as are their coffees and drinks. They serve an organic menu which adds to the freshness of their food. Highly recommend the brioche French toast with strawberry and lemon curd (pictured). Also the atmosphere is cozy and inviting with all the plants.

Google
High quality food with high quality service, this was an amazing establishment with a great atmosphere and a beautiful greenery type of aesthetic. After a long summer day in New York, this restaurant gave us an escape from the noise and heat of New York City and offered a classy lunch with some of the best service we experienced in the big apple. 10/10 experience.

Google
Jams at 1 Hotel has all the makings of a great brunch spot—beautiful ambiance, a cozy setting, and a menu that feels promising. However, for a higher-end hotel, the food itself is pretty average. That said, their menu is quite unique - we opted for the vegan peanut butter oatmeal, botanical breakfast and side of chicken sausage. Truly, their peanut butter chocolate oatmeal is absolutely TO DIE FOR—rich, comforting, and worth a return visit just for that alone. Everything else was decent but nothing particularly standout. Since table space in NYC is quite limited, we opted to sit at the bar, which ended up being a great choice. The bar has a beautiful counter, and the plus side is that you can order food there as well—a nice perk if you prefer a more relaxed experience. Service-wise, our experience was mixed. The host was not friendly or accommodating, coming across as standoffish and uninterested. Fortunately, our server was fantastic—attentive, fast, and kind, which made a huge difference. On a super cold east coast morning, stepping into a warm, inviting space for a cozy brunch was exactly what I needed to fuel up for the workday. While the food overall doesn’t necessarily match the upscale setting, the oatmeal alone is enough for me to return.

Google
First time at Jams and will def be back. Met up with friend for quick brunch. I ordered English breakfast tea and Chia pudding, friend had French Toast and it was so good that I didn't get a pic. My chin pudding was refreshing, good consistency and tasty. Our server, didn't get his name, was courteous, friendly and very pleasant. He was patient with us and made us feel welcomed.

Google
Nice place near Central Park that offers delicious food. We were there for lunch and as usually I tasted the burger 🍔. It was nice, but it didn’t impress me. Having in mind that it was 20-30% more expensive than the burgers in Manhattan it wasn’t special enough. We tried few more things that were also nice but I didn’t find them special.

Yelp
The restaurant itself is really beautiful. Elevated casual. It's busy so make a reservation. Staff is friendly. Margaritas are some of the best I've had in the city and the French fries are good. That's all the good I have to say. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed with the food, especially because it was Christmas Day! Everything was wayyyyyy too salty and not even slightly seasoned. It was just straight salt. Potatoes were definitely a couple days old (you know that taste leftover potatoes have? It had that). And the most upsetting part of it all? It ended up being $100 per person. I would actually return for only the margaritas, but if you choose to eat, be warned it might be the blandest experience ever.

Yelp
We were celebrating our friend's engagement at Jams and let me tell ya it was amazing. We had such a great time, from the drinks to the food to the music to the ambiance and the service was all top tier. We started off at the bar and ordered a few seasonal cocktails. I had a drink that tasted like an old fashioned but with pumpkin, yummm. I don't normally like pumpkin flavor things but this was good! The chocolate expresso was also really good and the autumn harvest was a smooth sipping pleasure. Direct quote, "the Sakura Martini deserves many praises." We started off with a few appetizers, the Autumn Flatbread, Maplebrook Burrata, Pan Seared Local Scallops and this amazing Whipped Ricotta Dip. I asked for the scallops to be a lil' crispier and they were literally delicious. So soft in the middle with a light crunch along the edges. We went with a family style approach and ordered for the table so we could share everything. Starting with the Halibut Florentine, so good. Really flavorful and I enjoyed the Hazelnut Gremolata it was sitting on top of. The Gnocchi was certainly filling and the pesto sauce was super fresh. The short rib risotto was banging! Oh my goodness, it was delicious, probably my favorite. I can't forget to mention the Brussels sprouts, we had to order it twice with the hopes of saving some for the next day. I don't know what we were thinking because we devoured both plates, no leftovers! If you weren't already convinced, just try it and you'll thank me later. P.S. Thank you to Egypt for the recommendations, we loved them all.

Yelp
Picture yourself surrounded by a symphony of vibrant greenery, enveloped in an upscale bar in the heart of Midtown. A bar where your greeted by a bright and airy space adorned with natural elements like wood, stone, and living plants, MANY MANY living plants, WOW! The menu reflects a commitment to fresh, wholesome ingredients and a strong catering to vegetarians. But more importantly, even in a jungle within the beautiful concrete jungle of NYC you can still find a good Old Fashioned. Cheers!!

Yelp
Jams is a delightful place I frequent with friends after the occasional Broadway show or when I find myself in Midtown. Came here on a rainy Saturday after the Flamenco Festival at NY City Center. My friend and I shared the Cheese and Charcuterie Board, their Hummus and the Winter Salad. They are great portions to share if you aren't overly ravenous and / or watch what you eat and try to eat healthily. Our waitress was wonderful, she checked up on us several times and was really friendly and attentive. What I probably love most about Jams is the homey, cozy and warm atmosphere - many beautiful, rich green plants adorn the restaurant everywhere, from the entrance to the area in the back and even above the open bar and kitchen area. If you're in the Midtown East-ish area or walking by the southern part of Central Park, pop into Jams for brunch or linner! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The moment you step into Jams, you're greeted by stunning greenery and a warm ambiance that feels like a blend of greenhouse and restaurant. We started with the focaccia and seared scallops, and the scallops were truly outstanding. For my main course, I had the striped bass, which was perfectly cooked. The service was friendly and attentive throughout. Nestled near Central Park, Jams offers an exceptional dining experience, making it the perfect spot to savor expertly crafted cocktails and a memorable dinner.

Yelp
This place was ok! Came in just because it was close to where I parked, and the atmosphere was nice. Ordered drinks and a pastry, so I don't have much to say about the actual food. We did end up waiting a bit for a table to be ready on a weekday morning, but service was good.

Yelp
Not accommodating at all staying at hotel no kids menu for breakfast. That's fine but they won't substitute anything and you end up paying $60 for kids eggs, potatoes, and bread. Entire menu then becomes a la carte. Waiters aren't helpful at all and the food is extremely average.

Yelp
I had dinner at Jams and it was a nice space with plants and chic decor. The chef is Jonathan Waxman. It's in The 1 Hotel Central Park. The appetizers, soup and entrees are fresh and are similar to Farm to Table and New American cuisine. The hotel is Gold LEED Certified. As it's the summer, it was busy, but relaxed. The waitress provided good service and was personable and attentive. Dessert , I ordered the affogato with coffee ice cream and coffee sauce. They have a bar area and tables are laid out well with some banquettes and different arrangements.

Yelp
It was a gorgeous Sunday morning, so my husband and I decided to enjoy the outdoors and Central Park so we made a reservation at Jams. As soon as we got in, we were immediately seated. The decor is very apothecary/lots of greenery- definitely a cute vibe. We were serviced immediately and ordered the full brunch and brioche French toast as well as their signature green juice. We got the food fairly quickly. I will say I really enjoyed the potatoes and the green juice as they were spectacular and filled with flavor. I get the hype about their brioche French toast. It comes out and it is a huge slab a French toast, but you are surprisingly shocked with how fluffy the texture is. On top of that when you dip it in the maple syrup, it is filled with flavor. The full breakfast brunch was good, it was nothing spectacular so I wouldn't order again.

Yelp
Great brunch! Food was very good. Service was good- could have cleared out dirty dishes a little faster. Champagne was great- espresso martinis are a little sweet! Very glad we had a reservation.

Yelp
Beautiful location. Managed to slide in for an early dinner right after the holiday. Hostess was charming. Apparently we were either brand loyal or all on the same page because chose three Jam's Fashioned cocktails (with the focaccia!) and three JW Organic Chicken (similar prep to Barbuto) and were in heaven. Flavors were spectacular as expected. Rhubarb Cobbler dessert wasn't as wonderful as I wanted it to be but Harry's Strawberries with pistachio gelato was a hit. Dinner was ~$80 each before tip.

Yelp
I came here for brunch. I felt the overall word for Jams was "okay." There were four of of us, and we all felt out food was fine but a little overpriced. The service started good but then when we wanted to get the check and leave, we couldn't flag down a waiter for over ten minutes. The decor is pretty.

Yelp
In love with this place !! The aura is amazing, its fillies with plants, making the place super lively !! Great outdoor seating and outstanding servers. The food is also incredible. Trying the raspberry dessert is a must!!

Yelp
Went here for breakfast over the weekend. We both ordered the lobster Eggs Benedict, and I got a side of bacon. The eggs were massively overcooked, and everything was delivered cold -- even the bacon, which looked like it had been cooked the day before. The muffins were teeny, and not a lot of lobster (though that was anticipated). I gave this 3 Stars, because although the food was cold and overcooked, the staff was friendly and relatively responsive (the hostess, however, was not in a great hurry to seat anybody). We loved the decor and lively vibe. Just wish the food could have been a bit better for the money.

Yelp
Yum! Located at the base of a cute boutique hotel I believe is called "1" - Jams is cute and has a neat vibe going on with some lovely outdoor patio seating with great people-watching. Nice menu with a pretty balanced amount of items to please most palettes. I ordered the warm coffee muffin as a starter, a coffee, and the yogurt parfait with fresh berries. I didn't see any photos of the parfait on yelp so I wasn't able to "try before buying" like I usually do - but I guessed it would be OK and it was. Fresh delicious blackberries, strawberries and blueberries with a decent portion of granola and yogurt. The granola was fresh and crunchy and the yogurt had a buttery coconut flavor to it. I had some fresh honey on the side to drizzle on top and it was heaven! Really good. Smaller portion though for $14 so it's tough to make that a meal on its own. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich which was a brioche bun with eggs (he did egg whites), fried ham, cheese and greens. Really good and the bun was delicious! Their coffee was great and the inside/outside areas are beautiful with greenery everywhere and updated cups and nice tables. Our waiter was great and we had a nice experience here with a nice pace for the service and food.
google avatar

Yelp
Great breakfast at Jams. The eggs Benedict had great hollandaise sauce with just enough lemon to create the perfect level of tartness. I had to order potatoes as I'm not a fan of salad for breakfast. (It should be an option guys.) However it was a breakfast and great service. I'll see you again next time when I visit New York.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was a lovely surprise! The restaurant is full of greenery and tucked inside a hotel. We stumbled in for a late brunch on a Sunday afternoon and were seated immediately. This was our third place and we were surprised they let us in so easily and were kinda wondering if the food would be good. It was delicious! I had the avocado toast with poached eggs and a matcha latte. The toast was only one piece of toast and I thought that was odd, but I guess it was to balance out the huge side salad it came with. The matcha latte was fresh, hot and filling. Will return next time in NYC!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely decor -- very green, calming and airy brunch cafe. Ideal for a work lunch or to do work alone, enjoying some coffee or tea! The chicken is tender and flavorful , foccaccia with whipped butter was a fav. Food was nothing toooo memorable but I loved the experience. Servers were accommodating and kind. Great spot near Central Park!

Yelp
Part of my recent NYC visit I stayed at 1 hotel and Jams was the restaurant at the property. My hotel was really close to Sarabeth's but decided to try out Jams because of convenience and good reviews on Google . To be honest, I left really perplexed. I think I set my expectations too high and then when I got my food ..it didn't meet what I had imagined. I think this place is doable if you want to hang out with your friends for coffee and maybe get some pastries. Food : 3/5 Mushrooms Frittata 3/5 - looked like a flat pancake. Was lacking some moisture almost as if over cooked. Missing seasoning ..had to add salt . Was expecting more and left flat . Not recommended. Kale salad 3/5 - take a look at pictures.. shredded up kale and some parmesan + dressing. It was savory and to the point. Nothing exciting but delivers pure kale . Not recommended. Fruit cup 3/5 - take a look at the pic. It's a small mix of fruit cut up in a glass cup. Everything tasted fresh, not more to say here. Crumble muffins: 3/5 - I'm not sure if they make these in-house or get them from other places, but it's above average pastry and inline with what I would expect for New York..nothing special. Interior: 5/5 Probably the best part about this restaurant is the interior. If you wanted to just pick up some coffee and maybe a pastry, this is the perfect place to go. I really love the vibe of this place. The interior is mindful about sustainability, the use of authentic materials and integrates a lot of plants and greenery. It has a very warm and cozy feel.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Good brunch vibes here and the restaurant itself is soo pretty and naturey. A lot of greenery everywhere and the healthy options on the menu fit the vibe perfectly. We were able to get seated without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon. I would recommend the juices they offer and the avocado toast was good and simple. Not over the top. Good spot to come to but I wouldn't make a trek out to this spot. It's also connected to a hotel which makes it very convenient for hotel stayers to get a nice brekkie for the morning.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
I love this spot! Their food is really fresh and the dining room is gorgeous. It's kinda casual while still elevated dining. The One Hotel is also really nice. You can't go wrong for an after work drink or dinner here.

Wes M.

Yelp
Great food. Fun and attentive staff. Will be going back again today. There is a large bar for people dining single.

lisa a.

Yelp
Much to my dismay Jams Reataurant now has a live DJ that plays very loud music in the dining room thus causing a very distressful dining experience. You can't hear conversations with friends or hear yourself think. Just the pounding sounds of music in your eardrums. I won't go back for dinner there again unless it's Sunday, Monday or Tuesday night when there is no DJ to enjoy the food and environment. New York City is loud enough.
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
Great healthy lunch salads! And it's right at the park. Found it here and I recommend it!

Yelp
Wen't to Jams for dinner on a Saturday for a friends birthday & we enjoyed it. We love the greenery covered interior design as well as the beautiful patio. The place is spacious for large gathering. Its open & cosy at the same time. Food was fresh & locally source. I tasted both the chicken & fish main course & both were good. The salad appetizer came in good portion & equally tasty. I got no sweet tooth but my table mates all enjoyed their dessert. Our waitress was attentive & we don't feel rushed to leave right away after we were done. We had reservation, and they allowed us to proceed to our seats before all parties arrived, which we appreciate. The price was on the higher end of the spectrum but worth it for the service & the food. Would come back for special occassions.
google avatar

Renee K.

Yelp
The service was very friendly and knowledgeable of the food when we asked what they recommended. The food was pretty decent and the lobster was fresh. The setting is very country chic with all the live plants.

Yelp
Food was ok - , nothing more than that, hostess was not that kind at all, ambiance was great. Price was too high for quality, quantity and flavor. Coffee was $7 and tasted like a gas station coffee. That's not good! Won't coma back
google avatar

Rebecca K.

Yelp
This place. Gorgeous. Smells divine. The signature smell of 1 Hotel. Plants everywhere. Staff is great. Seating is wonderful and comfy. Wine is so good. (I did the house red blend) I ordered fish tacos. They were good- not great. The concept of cool Guacamole hot batter dipped cod and crunchy spicy slaw is great but it lacked a little seasoning. Not terrible just not great. There were so many menu items that looked yummy I can't wait to return and try the steak or gnocchi!
google avatar

Yelp
We have been going to Jams every time we visit NYC for several years now. This might be our last visit. After my partner ordered the food, I asked the waitress what was in the green juice. She had such a weird response. She asked if I was asking her the question. So strange. When we wanted to order dessert, our waitress was nowhere to be found. Another waiter had to take our order. As for the food, we liked "JW Chicken + Fries." We didn't care for the 'Spring Gnocchi,' roasted carrots and especially disliked the 'Sticky Toffee Pudding,' which felt too dense and had no discernible dates. They use to allow you to use the restrooms in the upper floor. I remember the interesting wood like wall treatment inside the elevator. Now you have to use the ugly industrial restroom by the kitchen.

Josh M.

Yelp
I got the New York cut Steak, fries, and asparagus. Each item was done to perfection. Oleg was my server, he was attentive and accommodating, fantastic job. I enjoyed my bourbon, and I never had to wait on staff to ask if I needed my drink refilled. Fantastic visit, highly recommend. The atmosphere is pleasant and conversational.

Yelp
I really like this spot. You can never go wrong with a Jonathan Waxman restaurant. Went for brunch. Such clean food. Super tasty. I love the salads here. Very sleek and modern decor, nice service.

Yelp
Checked out this place yesterday for brunch/lunch and it was jam-packed! I thought of making a reservation but didn't think it would be necessary. Turned out I was wrong. Always make a reservation here, especially on the weekends. We were seated by the bar which took awhile for the staff to notice and hand us the menu. I wasn't sure what to expect but was interested in the few options - saw other customers with their French toast -- looks yummy! I ended up ordering avocado toast with a side of breakfast sausages and a glass of fresh green juice while my husband got Jams Benedict and a glass of Prosecco. Really LOVED my meals. For a restaurant tucked in in a hotel, I was underwhelmed with the presentation but the flavors really triumphed all. I enjoyed every bit of it, especially the breakfast sausage. Even wondered where they got the sausages from... or were they made in house? They were so good! The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars purely for the slow service. It took forever for them to take notice of new customers and then forget to bring us a check and take our card. We'd still want to come back but maybe not on the weekends and will make sure to make a reservation first.

Yelp
The ambiance here is so delightful. I've never been to a restaurant filled with the fragrance of frankincense... it was actually wonderful. By coincidence , the soft music was my favorite artist from Cape Verde. The restaurant is attached to a hotel lobby with matching decor. The food was very good, not excellent... for NYC, at least. Great central location for breakfast before work in Manhattan. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Stopped by jams recently for brunch. The location is great- right next to Central Park so it is a good location if you are planning to spend the day at the park. The ambience is simply lovely. The service was fine too. The only thing lacking is the food- it's okay...just not something to write home about. In a city of amazing brunches this place fails to differentiate itself. We had the huevos rancheros, French toast and a side of potatoes. I also ordered the latte. The potatoes were very good. The French toast was slightly better than the huevos rancheros. Huevos rancheros is normally our go-to dish for brunch but the version at jams is really lacking in flavor. The latte was okay, not really the best coffee. There is absolutely no wow factor to the food which is what I was hoping for. I really hope they work on improving the menu since it is a beautiful space that I would love to come back to.

Yelp
This is a cool bar with good drinks. The service is good and the apps are good as well.

Yelp
Beautiful Sunday afternoon outing by 5th Ave NYC. and shhhhh some shopping. We ended up again at our one of our go-to NYC day dining spots. For us, Jam always is on point. I "L-O-V-E" their brunch burger!! It's so moist and delicious. Did I say delicious?? Their chicken was also very tasty with great seasoning. Can't say enough about this place and their amazing staff. Definitely recommend. "Named "Best Chef in New York City" by the James Beard Foundation, Chef Jonathan Waxman brings his seasonal cooking to Jams. The open kitchen, exposed brick, reclaimed oak, and greenery-lined patio make the space as dynamic as the food.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Great cocktails - check. Solid food - check. Fantastic brunch - check. Great atmosphere - check. One block off the park - Bonus. What more are you looking for in a stop-off? Dig deeper and you can do better but if you are in mid-town and hungry or thirsty - don't be afraid to duck in here.

Yelp
Ambiance is great but the food is not what it should be given the prices. Ive come here a lot since its opened and it repeatedly dissappoints

Yelp
VERY happy we stopped in for brunch. The food was light, fresh, and oh so GOOD!! Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Comfortable, chic, artsy, lots of vibes. The calamari was delightful. The gnocchi had a pesto sauce and was so darn good!!! Would definitely order again.

Yelp
Do this place was a bit of a crapshoot. The options were decretándolos I had the fish tacos and they were amazing. The tortillas with guacamole were actually pretty good! I used the guacamole on my tacos!

Yelp
Jams is one of my favorite restaurants in the city, whether it be for brunch or dinner! Service is always top notch and servers are very knowledgeable. You MUST try the gnocchi, the warm gem salad, and the cauliflower. Drinks are delicious and they have a great wine selection. The hosts always get me accommodated even when I don't have a reservation, They have a DJ on weekends that spin vinyl records, great date night spot!

Yelp
I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent experience at your establishment. My partner and I arrived at your restaurant at around 9pm after a 6 hour flight, hoping to grab a table for two. However, the bar staff walked away from us when we tried to order, and when we asked about getting a table, we were told that the kitchen was closed. The staff member we spoke to claimed that the kitchen closes at 9:45pm, which seemed odd to us since it was only 9pm at the time. To make matters worse, the larger lady manager on duty that evening was extremely rude and dismissive of our concerns. She essentially blew us off and made it clear that she had no interest in helping us or addressing our complaints. This kind of poor management and lack of customer service is unacceptable. I hope that in the future, your staff will be more attentive to the needs of your customers and that management will take a more proactive approach to addressing issues like this.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Food was not great. Jams Benedict was cold from the eggs to the bread. The little salad had almost zero dressing so just greens. The americano was ok. Definitely not worth the price. The server was fine but nothing beyond taking the order and getting check. Would not come back.

Yelp
The food just isn't good. No flavor. Portions are small. Everything is way over priced. For $55, I expect a good steak. Not a poor quality piece of meat that I can cook at home. I guess you are just paying for the location and the "ambience". This is just fancy cocktail place that serves bad food IMHO.

Yelp
Ducked in her during a rain storm for some coffee and a lite lunch. Ambiance is open, airy, garden like, with outside seating option.Very, Very loud. Food, coffee, drinks were good! Service was S L O W. Took a bit to be acknowledged once we sat down, food came fast! And then again S L O W- it took way too long to get our server to bring the check....literally could not make eye contact with him when he moved in and out...so my husband finally took the credit card to him. And now as I wrote this post...the sad lil card is sitting in front of me waiting to pay the bill...waiting...waiting....thankfully we aren't in a hurry. So, yes, I recommend, just make sure you have time.

Yelp
Being a longtime fan of Chef Jonathan Waxman's first restaurant, Barbuto, I simply had to try his second Manhattan spot, Jams, as well. The place had been open for years before I was finally incentivized to make it a priority, as the Chef was in town and would be cooking classics and new menu items on that specific evening. I gathered my friends with the promise of a great meal and the potential sighting of JW. We were sat at a nice, spacious table next to the bar and ordered some drinks. The Drunken Monk was essentially an extra herbaceous spritz containing Aperol, Cynar, Green Charteuse, lime, and soda. It was crisp, refreshing, and a perfect complement to a summer meal. Speaking of, we began the food portion of our meal with the Artisanal Bread Plate, which sounded a bit fancier than it was. The carb collection included seeded rolls from Grandaisy Bakery and herbed flatbread crisps, served with a creamy roasted carrot and tahini spread. While this smear was delicious, the bread was rather bland and unexciting. For my entree, I selected the Gnocchi with Corn and Tomatoes, the perfect summer-inspired dish. The pan-seared fluffy dumplings had been tossed with local vegetables and topped with basil and Parmesan. The dish was tasty, but the gnocchi were a bit charred and overcooked. One of my dining buddies was not overly impressed with his Sowrdfish special, which contained undercooked, crunch couscous on the side. However, the rest of our party raved about the Filet Mignon and JW specialty roasted Chicken and Fries. While our food experience was a bit mixed, we all agreed that our friendly server was really not at the top of her game. One of my friends needed to ask her for salt about 3 or 4 times before she finally delivered it. I know that service has been rough Post-COVID, but I would have expected more from a place of this caliber, and especially when we were able to glimpse Chef Waxman taking a break at the bar right behind us. Overall, I thought Jams was fine, but it did not live up to my loving memories of Barbuto.
