Jang Choong Dong Jokbal Review - Koreatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Order the small jokbal platter at Jang Choong Dong and you might think they made a mistake. This pile of chopped, braised pig trotters is a behemoth, but a stunning behemoth, nonetheless. The jelly-like skin glistens under the fluorescent lights and you can taste the brine in the tender pork: a little sweet, a little garlicky, and some pings of ginger in there. We suggest ordering something light on the side to strike a balance on the table, like Jang Choong Dong’s spicy cold acorn noodles that go down like a refreshing glass of ice water." - Sylvio Martins

Is a perfect Korean style eatery. It has all the basics and the goodies that people go for after a night on the town. We came here for bossam and Jokbal but decided it was way too much food. I was able to order a little combo it was more than enough food for the two of us. They have authentic stews and haejangguk. The servers on the floor this day were two Hispanic women who were able to understand all of our orders in Korean. they knew the Korean words and how to take the orders and what to ask for and how to present the food and everything. Very impressive.

Google
Overall the food is good, and usually the restaurant is not overly crowded. I wish they would have options for small dishes, appetizers. For 1 or 2 people it would be a lot of food if you order 2 items, but if you just order 1 then it wouldn’t be enough and you can’t try different dishes.

Google
If I could give 10 stars, I would. Everything here hits the mark — quality, quantity, price, and service. Easily one of my favorite Korean spots. Can’t wait to come back!

We have been here many times and love the food here. If you love soondae, it’s definitely the place to come. They also have a variety of soups for your choice, which are all very delicious and always warm my heart. The galbi is tender and tasty that is a must-try. Other than the food, the service is good and the environment is clean and restful.

Google
first time here and won't be the last never noticed this "hole in the wall" since it's in the same strip of Honey Pig can be easily missed canme for the July promotion a friend recommended and yes that are definitely generous with their portions food is great as well and great customer service with the 2 young waiters super nice esp the taller one we dined on Sunday 7/20

Soondae Gookbap was sooooo good! It didn't have a pork smell and the portion was so generous! Two different kimchi and pickled onions were delicious, too! If you're Korean missing 국밥, I highly recommend this place!

Google
A Hidden Gem! Jang Choong Dong has quickly become one of my favorite spots to eat. From the moment you walk in, the cozy atmosphere wraps around you like a warm hug — it's the kind of place that makes you want to stay a while. The service is always friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. As for the food? Absolutely delicious! Every dish is full of rich flavor and feels like a home-cooked meal made with love. You can really taste the care that goes into the ingredients and preparation. Whether you're trying a classic or something new, it never disappoints. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food, great service, and a space that feels like home. Can’t wait to come back!

My coworker and I came here for lunch on a weekday and we were both very happy with the delicious food (we ordered bossam and soy bean soup), fast service (we also work nearby so we made it back to work on time without having to rush) , and great ambience (awesome decor). We’re back again today!

Yelp
I ordered the JOKBAL JUNSIK to-go and it was better than I could've expected! I was thoroughly impressed! This is the small, single-person serving, but it took me 2 sittings to finish with all of the sides included. Everything was packed and separated very nicely. One box came with fresh lettuce, jalapeño slices, garlic slices, and dipping sauces. Another box had kimchi and pickled veggies, which were really good and tasted very fresh! There was a small container of soybean paste soup, which was good and had a little kick from the jalapeños. And, finally, a small box of white rice and a medium box of jokbal. The JOKBAL reminded me of a Vietnamese dish called thit kho, because they have a pretty similar flavor. It was very savory, rich, and delicious. There were a lot of fatty bits, but also more lean bits hidden under the pretty slices placed on top, so it's more than it looks. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
This is honestly more of a 4.5 but I rounded down just because it didn't "wow" me and the menu is small compared to other Korean places. I have tried the bossam, jakbal, galbi, soups, etc. and overall all of the foods are fresh, REALLY good, with big portions. The galbi and soups are flavored very well (and hot). My favorite is the Gamja Tang - meat is also very tender. They are also very generous with their side dishes. Restaurant is on the smaller end so you may have to wait on peak hours/weekends but I never had to wait an extremely long time. Service is variable but overall good (and they are at least attentive). They have a button on the table whenever you need to call someone. And the food does come out quickly! Probably why the food is so hot. A great place for people that want to try Korean soups and Jokbal/Bossam.

Yelp
I've visited this spot a few times, and each visit has consistently delivered on authentic, traditional Korean flavors. Their broths and soups are a standout, perfectly capturing the comforting, home-style essence of Korean cuisine. The potato soup with pork and the Korean sausage soup are both great choices--rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying. I'd gladly recommend these dishes and plan to return to explore more of their menu. While the main dishes shine, the banchan (Korean side dishes) could use some refinement. The pickled radish, for example, was diced into tiny cubes, which didn't allow for the crisp, refreshing bite you'd typically expect. Slight adjustments here could elevate the overall dining experience. Still, this is a good spot for anyone craving traditional Korean soups, and it's a place I'll happily revisit.

Yelp
This place is so good for traditional korean soups that you can't really find elsewhere in Houston. We literally stumbled upon this establishment because we wanted to try a new Korean restaurant. I have been here twice now and have tried the galbi, bossam, and the gamja tang. - The gamja tang is so big with lots of pork, potatoes and overflowing amounts of perilla. The soup was so rich and hearty and the meat was cooked to perfection. - The galbi and bossam portions are huge and really tasty as well. I especially loved how well seasoned and cooked the galbi was. Each month, there is a special deal- so make sure you ask for that! This past month, the galbi was only $19.99!! and it came with soybean paste soup as well. Overall, 10/10 will be back.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant, they were having 50% off entire menu special today thru Tuesday. Great promotion but they are busy, and the service does not exist. Upon walk in, talked to 2 servers to be seated. Waited over 10min to find someone to order our food, water was not served until we asked, order was incorrectly entered. Our order of M6 never came out, I finally checked with a different server Huy, without checking, he straight up telling me (lies) because there were 5-6 other orders ahead, so the food isn't out yet. I told him that's not true, previous server didn't place the right order so we had to wait. He then told us to wait and he will check, he came back and told us that the order still needs another 20-25min. I ended up canceling this item because we are done with eating, and not willing to wait for to go. I picked this place because of their jokbal but didn't get to try it, what a disappointing experience. This place is lack of service, not so great food(galbi was too sweet), we will not be back. Save your time and money go elsewhere.

Yelp
Jang Choong Dong is an outstanding spot for Korean food with generous portions and great value. The dishes are always flavorful and packed with fresh ingredients. If you're hungry, you'll definitely leave satisfied--portions here are very big, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. One of the best parts is their monthly special. It's always a fantastic deal and gives you the chance to try something new at a great price. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, the special is a great way to enjoy a top-notch meal without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, and the service is always friendly. If you're looking for hearty, delicious Korean food and want to get a lot for your money, Jang Choong Dong is the place to go.

Yelp
This place has quickly become my go-to for the best jokbal and bossam--whether I'm dining in or grabbing takeout, it has never disappointed me. The service is fantastic too; the staff is attentive and makes sure you have everything you need. And the soups... I'm already counting down to colder days just to enjoy them even more. The Gamja Tang and Soondae Kuk are essentials--seriously, they're the most comforting, hearty bowls you could ask for. Hungover? Get it. Feeling down? Get it. Under the weather? Definitely get it! All jokes aside, it's such a cozy, casual spot to enjoy great food, attentive service, and even better company. I can't wait to go back and work my way through the menu!

Yelp
An Authentic Korean Gem in Houston After a disappointing experience at Kata Robata, I turned to Yelp to search for authentic Korean cuisine instead of sushi. Let me just say, I've been let down countless times by places claiming to be "authentic Korean." But this restaurant completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was modern, relaxing, and welcoming. The service was outstanding--our waitress was attentive, knowledgeable, and guided us to the perfect dish. We chose #10, a short rib plate served with rice, soup, and an array of side dishes. The flavors were exceptional. The meat was tender and flavorful, the spices were perfectly balanced, and even the sides were a testament to true Korean authenticity. Every bite was a pleasure, and the value for the quality and portions was incredible. Of all the places I visited in Houston recently, this one easily stood out as the best. It was well worth the hour-long drive from the east side of Houston, though I will say the only downside is the travel time--it can take a minute to get there depending on where you're coming from. If you're looking for a great evening out with amazing food, this is the place to go. Fantastic presentation, incredible service, a welcoming atmosphere, and most importantly, unbeatable food. I'll absolutely be back on my next trip to Houston!

Yelp
I enjoyed their simple menu; everything felt fairly authentic. We shared three main entrees among friends: the Galbi, Soondae (blood sausage), and Boosam (pork belly). The meats were savory and of good quality. It was my first time trying blood sausage, and while I wasn't a fan, my friends commented that it was very well made. The Galbi was well-marinated, though I felt the ratio of onions to meat was a bit high but understandable. We received three different banchans with each of our entrees: Kimchi, a salty-sweet pickled radish, and some pickled cabbages. All were pretty good, especially when combined with the meat in a lettuce wrap with a soybean sauce. The interior is nice and clean, and the service is fast, with the typical call button seen at most Korean establishments. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes, like the Gamjatang next time!

Yelp
We stumbled upon this specialty restaurant on a Friday evening and were extremely satisfied with what we got! Wanting to try something new, this was definitely a first check mark on our long list of things to try. The interior is nice and clean and the waitstaff is extremely patient and knowledgeable. The menu isn't very expansive, it is definitely a speciality restaurant with mostly jokbal (pig feet), bossom (pork belly) and blood sausage. We went 04/2024 and they had a promotion for $20 off $50 if you download their app and sign up for their rewards program. For two adults and one kid, we ended up ordering M5, M6 and M9. First comes first, the banchan! You get 3 different dishes, Kim chi, a salty/sweet pickled radish and pickled cabbage with jalepenos. All were good. The M5, beef neck bone soup with cabbage and bean sprouts had a subtle and delicious flavor. It wasn't too heavy and was a nice additional to our meat heavy dishes. M6 is the jokbal. In lieu of order a giant portion for the two of us, we shared the individual order and it was more than enough (along with our other dishes). It came with lettuce, slices of raw garlic and Jalepeno and a soybean dipping sauce. Wrapping up a little bit of everything is the way to go. Delicious, fatty pork combined with the saltiness and spiciness of the banchan made for a great first experience. M9 is the Galbi. Tender, super flavorful and served on a huge bed of sliced cooked-ish onions, this was a hit for us. All our dishes came with rice, which complimented the Galbi perfectly. The meat wasn't chewy, it was tender and cooked well. After taxes, our bill came out to $65 but we were able to apply the $20 coupon, make this meal (which served as two more meals for us afterwards!) was definitely worth it.

Yelp
I tried this restaurant for the first time and had their bossam. It was quite good. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Ambiance was very typical for a Korean restaurant. There was a drama playing on the tv and international flags hanging above. I would come back to try more of the soups.
google avatar

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in for lunch one day and we all got the gamjatang. It was super filling and the bowl was overflowing. The soup comes with rice on the side and some banchan including picked onions, kimchi, and radish kimchi. The banchan paired well with the savory, meaty flavor of the meat and cut the fatty taste of the meat. My favorite part of the soup was the potato, although there was only one large chunk, I wish there was more. As for the interior it's pretty spacious and there are plenty of tables. The servers are attentive and the food comes out quickly (and HOT). I enjoyed the soup, however because it's so heavy/rich I'm not sure if I would crave this anytime soon. I do want to return to try the other menu items.

Yelp
Offering something more than your usual bibimbap and bulgogi (which they also have), this restaurant also serves up two less mainstreamed but yummy Korean dishes! Jokbal: pork trotters, sliced thinly and served with lettuce and sauces for a wrap. I liked these reheated and steamed at home, since they get much softer when warm! Soondae / sundae: blood sausage, made with vermicelli in the middle. It doesn't have that iron-y taste! I usually dab the pieces into the seasoned salt, but these were soft (some may say mushy) and tasty bites on their own. Super tasty! The soup that came with it was a mild bone broth soup with lots of organ meats (intestines, tongue), chives, and vermicelli. Not much kick or flavor but warms up the soul, and I suppose that's what all the sauces were for as well! Prices are a little steep for the main meat entrees but the serving size definitely offsets it! We had tons of leftovers. The medium jokbal was gigantic, probably enough for 4+ meals! Instead of attempting to flag the staff down, the service button was convenient to use :) Our waitress and waiters were friendly and to the point. Overall, would come back if I'm especially craving that Soondae! But also to try the other soups :D

Yelp
The food was delicious. I like how the Galbi was marinated just right and that the bed of onions was cooked just right so you avoid that raw onion taste. The Bossam was cooked as expected like every Korean Restaurant place I've been to. The Soondae was really soft and nicely presented. The soup that came with the meat dishes was kind of meh. The BonChan that came with was okay, nothing special. The kimchi was a little sweeter than what I like. The customer service was great. Our waiter arrived as soon as the table bell was rang and he even took time check on us when we didn't summon him. The ambiance was wonderful for my family to seat, talk and eat. The music was at a nice volume where we could talk without raising our voice. They also gave us a tumbler as their anniversary gift. Highly recommend this place for something comforting during this cold weather.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service. Clean and Casual atmosphere. Soups are hot and delicious. Their serving size is big.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun place to get together. Nicely decorated restaurant. Service was pretty good. Happy hour on weekdays, you get 10% off bossam and jokbal. Food wasn't too bad; I've had better bossam elsewhere before. Plenty of sides to try. Ordered the plum and strawberry soju; plum flavor was personally my favorite!
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance: Nice, neat and friendly staff! Went for lunch and it was not too busy so we got seated quickly and our order taken Food 9/10: The food was really good. This place focused on Korean soups so everyone at my table got a soup. I ordered the Galbi which came with a very nice broth! For he price, the soups were really good and all the side dishes were on point. I'm a big fan of Korean soups and his place is perfect if you want a homemade soup that fills and satisfies!

Yelp
Wanted Korean BBQ, BF said let's go to "this place". I'm like we hated "this place", you sure you're not thinking of "different place"? We went there, sat down, looked at the menu. I remembered why we hated "this place" and we left. One of the dim sum places where we eat is close but I'm not wanting carbs. Perusing the shopping center from the parking lot, I'm like hey there's a Korean restaurant, we know Korean food, right? Wrong? I don't recognize anything on the menu. This is a deeper dive into Korean cuisine than I've previously been exposed to. Waiters are walking by with huge platters of meat, I wanted meat but not quite that much. Wait, here's galbi and tofu soup, we can get that. After a quick consultation with a waitress, I got a spicy pork soup with vegetables. Everything was amazingly tasty and well presented. Tofu soup was a bit spicy for BF, not sure if they can dial down the spice but we can ask next time. The decor and appearance of the place was really nice. The servers were attentive and pleasant. They even have call buttons on the tables. We spent less than what we normally do when eating Korean, so excellent value. Generous portions, we had enough leftovers to take a full meal home to my son. The two of us (BF and I) could have eaten easily on just one dish. Need to go back and try something else, I was looking at the bossam. Maybe grab some family members so we can tackle that huge platter of meat.

Yelp
Came here wanting some Korean food and the usual places were closed. Of note, the food here is quite authentic, and a lot of the staple things you might see popularized are absent from the menu. Service was good, they have call buttons for you to ask for refills on your sauces and sides. The restaurant was quite busy, with a low-key ambiance but the waitstaff got our meals and orders out very quickly. On to the food- I had the pork belly wrapped in lettuce and kimchi on top. It was a tad expensive, but the cuts of meat were of good quality, and if you like savory with kimchi, this is the order to get. I had the gamjatang also, but unfortunately discovered that I'm not a fan of perilla, so can't comment too much on the soup. Check it out if you're wanting a good chunk of meat with good sauce for a decent value.
google avatar

Kirsten D.

Yelp
Food - 10/10 the Gamjatang was sooooo good. I'm so glad I finally had a chance to try this place and that I finally got to try Gamjatang. A very flavorful broth with big pieces of pork neck and two small pieces of potato. There was also some cabbage in the soup as well. And I especially enjoyed eating it with the Banchan provided, in particular the pickled onions. But I really couldn't get enough of the radish and regular kimchi either. I ordered some to go to take home. I asked the waiter if I could try just a little blood sausage as I've never had it before and the owner obliged. I was going to pay for it either way but they let me try it for free which was incredibly nice. It wasn't for me but I could see why people could like it though. Service - 10/10 Great service. The food came out quickly, they filled my water when it was needed and made sure I was happy with the food which I definitely was. Ambiance - 10/10 Lots of Korean memorabilia on the walls, Korean music, etc. it's a Korean restaurant. I liked the inside. Please go check this place out. Great food and service.

Yelp
Food was great and came out very quickly, which I appreciate. I also like that we can just ring a bell if we need anyone. The food here is pretty much all pork and some beef, so if you're not a fan of those, it's not for you. I didn't give full stars because I think there should at least be some appetizer options and more sides. We only got three sides which is quite little
google avatar

Yelp
Have only been here once so far, but plan on many return trips. We ordered the sundae combo, the neck bone jjigea, and the intestine jjigea. All were outstanding. The sundae was some of the best I've had in Houston, tender, flavorful, sooooo much better than the ones you get at H-Mart (go figure? ). The intestine and organ meats thst came with it as a combo were clean and tasty. The neck bone jjigea was overflowing and packed with meat bones for your gnawing pleasure. Soup had depth and left that wonderful stickiness on your lips. The intestine jjigea was equally good and a great hangover meal as it's traditionally meant to be. So many other menu choices, so will have to have a few more visits to make our way around. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Our favorite place to eat Korean food. We probably go about once a week. The food is authentic Korean. They give generous portions. Highly recommended it if you just want good Korean bbq.

Yelp
Read the amazing reviews and thought I'd give the place a try. Food is different from other Korean places. Their specialty is the Jukbal, Bossam & Soondae. Upon entering, had a choice of tables as we was not too busy. Jokbal (pork trotters) look appetizing and went ahead and ordered Jokbal Jungsik which includes the small soybean paste soup. First, they brought 3 banchan dishes... radish kimchi, sweet onion and kimchi. The banchan was ok. Tasty and a little spicy. Afterwards, they brought out the Jokbal and soup. Jokbal was yummy. If you like tendons, you will like the dish. It does get messy eating it when you try to wrap them. It may just be me not familiar on how to do it. It comes with a fish sauce where the Jokbal is dipped and put on the lettuce leaf and add garlic & jalapeño plus somjang. Pretty good! Soybean paste soup has tofu and zucchini. It was hot and perfect combination with the Jokbal. Servers were nice. No complaints. Had ask for additional sauces and water and they were quick to oblige. Place is casual. Lot of wood decor. There are multiple TVs in the wall showing US news and K-Pop.

Yelp
This was my first time here at jang choong dong and I'm glad i decided to stop by! I ordered the gamjatang and it was very tasty and flavorful. The meat fell off the bone and overall just tasted SO GOOD!! The broth pairs up so well with some steamed rice, still thinking about this meal i really liked it. The service was quick and the servers were also very attentive! Will be back.

Yelp
Bruh.... I ate so much... for lunch... I don't regret aside the fact that I didn't get soju with my meal. Clean locale, quick service, quality foods, korean music playing in the back. Will come back for sure! The only part I didn't care for was the Gamja Tang soup, the complimentary soybean soup was hella good tho
google avatar

Vivi P.

Yelp
Definitely underrated!!! The soondae guk (M1) was so hearty and delicious. The service was amazing, very attentive and friendly. The side dishes are well seasoned everything tasted great. Will definitely come back!
google avatar

Yelp
Limited menu. They focus on soup, and galbi dishes. Really enjoyed their banchan too. Definitely go here if you're craving some traditional Korean comfort food. We really enjoyed our galbi, and pork dishes. Everything tasted fresh, and piping hot. Their tofu soup was flavourful, and hearty. Looking forward to going back and getting their beef rib soup!
google avatar

Daisy T.

Yelp
I tried both the M5 and galbi, and they were tasty, although I found the kimchi to be just okay, giving the overall experience a 4 out of 5.

Yelp
Jang Choong Dong was an unexpected, stumble upon kind of restaurant find for us. I won't name names, but a nearby ramen place that just opened had a crazy 3 hour wait on a Sat night. Needless to say, we're so glad we found Jang Choong Dong instead. Every table was full in the restaurant for dinner, but luckily we were the 1st people on the waiting list so the wait wasn't long at all for a table. We did notice they were short staffed and only had like 2 people working the whole front of house from seating people, to waitering, to cleaning tables, etc. But they were working hard and still managed to do a good job. The restaurant was really nice too, with string lights and brick walls. As far as food goes, their menu is very simple. They pretty much only serve/specialize in wang jokbal (Pig's feet), bossam (pork belly), soondae (blood sausage), and a couple kinds of soup. We had their bossam which was very tender, and their beef soup which had the richest, comforting broth. All of their meat comes with the respective banchan and rice as well. Putting a little bit of everything in a lettuce wrap and dipping it in the garlicky soybean paste is definitely the way to do it. Overall I'd come back again. All of the flavors in their food are simple yet comforting. They also offer a lot of different soju flavors and beer if you're looking to drink too. They say their soup is the best for hangovers haha. Cheers!

Yelp
HOUSTON , TX / KOREAN / 04-02-23 / DINNER -The servers were friendly, but one of them had very long dirty finger nails and he was serving us our dishes and utensils, etc. The staff was also having deep conversations over the food prep station, lol. -The soondae soup missed the mark. It was definitely lacking an authentic sticky bone broth that's been simmered for more than 24 hours. It lacked basic flavors you would expect from a guk jib ("soup house"). -The medium bossam platter is definitely westernized, and I don't think it's worth the $40 price tag. -The soon dae looks like it was store-bought, prepackaged blood sausage. I doubt it is made in-house. -The side dishes and kimchi weren't good; no fermentation or authentic flavors. We used to frequent this place for spicy Korean pork stew, and blood sausage, but something has changed. Maybe non-Korean new ownership/management?
google avatar

Keisha R.

Yelp
Service was great. I appreciated the cute decor and atmosphere. I had the M1 soup with pig intestines and blood sausage. Overall, it was very good. Soup needed some spice so I was happy that they gave me the paste to make it as spicy as I liked. The meat was tender. The blood sausage had a texture I'm not used to but the flavor was there and that's what matters. The beef ribs were really good too. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Omg this place was delicious ! Came with my bf on a sat night & there was no wait. We ordered the galbi & medium bossam. The galbi came out on a sizzling plate & had good grilled flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. It also comes with soup on the side ! The bossam has good texture & you get a lot of it. We were a fan of all the sides. The portions are pretty large so we have leftovers for another meal. Would come back !

Yelp
Jang Choong Dong was recommended by one of my Korean friends in Houston, so I decided to try it out! Upon entering, I noticed the place is very neatly organized and everything, including menus and utensils, were placed in their respective spots. I ordered the M1 Soondae Kuk and M9 Galbi Jungsuk. The M1 came with soondae, and you have to season it to your liking. However, it was pretty good and definitely would be a good soup for hangovers or allergies. The M9 galbi was good, but I think it was not marinated as long and the season didn't seep in as deep yet. I really liked the dishes I had and hope to come back again to try more dishes in the future!

Yelp
If you are craving for good Korean soup and pig feet, this is the restaurant to go for those. If you are ordering to go the restaurant pack it very nicely. The portion is big you get your money's worth. Each table has a bell button. If you want to save more money pay in cash. The menu is very simple. Everything on the menu is very delicious .

Yelp
Whenever I want traditional Korean soup, I always think of Jang Choong Dong Korean Restaurant. The menu is small and well explained. I first noticed JCDKR right after CoVid in 2021. They carefully started with reservations during soft opening. I couldn't come because I didn't have time to wait when I'm hungry and I don't know when I'll be hungry. After few months of seeing it popped up on my social media feed, I started to come in to investigate. The photos on the window were so attractive but hard to tell if they have non-pork options. So, I walked in. Employees were friendly and patient. I attended a foodie broadcast meeting and I got a chance to try everything that I normally don't order. Then, I came back today to try what I would like to try. Soups are all I care about. The sides and rice were complimenting my M5 sobering soup. Don't simply look at the clear soup as mild. It had a spicy kick to it because of jalapeño.

Yelp
We went on 12/16/25, Service was awesome on a very busy day. Food wasn't salty and or bland, it was perfect. Portion was huge. At the time we couldn't order to go. Will definitely come back for sure. The lady at the front was very sweet as well. We were so hungry, didn't get to take photos.

Yelp
Such a great spot for pig's feet and hearty Korean soups. Prices are damn reasonable too! Place is clean but a little chilly. The pig's feet was far above expectations and had little to no fat attached. All meat, collagen and tendon! The gamjatang had generous portions of pork shoulder and lots of Korean cabbage, and isn't spicy (so don't worry). Our group preferred it to the more mildly flavored Soondae guk. Service is excellent when you can flag someone down! They are very generous with refills on your free sides (banchan). I woudk definitely come back again! Parking is a breeze as well.

Yelp
I'm very impressed with the portion sizes at this restaurant. They give us a lot of food, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This place was so good. I was skeptical initially but everything was amazing and good value too. The pork feet was the best surprise. I don't like chicken feet but pork feet has way more meat rather than mostly collagen so it was super delicious. We also ordered the soondae special which came with some tripe, liver and tongue. My favorites were the liver and tongue. If you are not an adventurous eater, this place is not for you. There are some options like pork or beef soup and galbi but that's about it.

Yelp
This place is great if you are craving a hearty stew packed with veggies and meat. This place has a limited menu of soups and meat dishes that are super authentic Korean dishes. I ordered the gamja tang which was super flavorful and the pork was tender. The soondae kuk came with blood sausages which I would say is an acquired taste and the soup was a bit light and needed a kick. I loved the banchan and made great side dishes with the soups. I would say this is a great place to take your parents/ grandparents for a hearty meal, but may be lacking variety for the younger group. I would definitely come back during the winter to taste their other soups!

Yelp
Came here twice already. I ordered their Jokbal, BoSsam, Soondae Kuk, Dweji Gukbap, and Ttagui Haejang Kuk. I recently went to Korea and I feel the food served in this restaurant is comparable to that in Korea. This store is a branch from Jang Choong Dong in Dallas.

Yelp
I tried to go to a different restaurant but the wait was 1 hour long so I ended up coming here!! I am so glad I did. We got the galbi pork ribs and jokbal pig trotters as the individual sizes. My first time trying jokbal and I loved it! Very meaty and collagen tastes so good. I enjoyed the soybean paste dipping sauce, but both sauces for the jokbal was a little on the sweet side. Galbi was well-flavored and the onions underneath were so good with rice, it got a lot of flavor from the galbi. The menu had the Korean dishes' name in Korean but underneath, there was English description of what it is and how to eat it (making wrap with jokbal). So it was not intimidating at all. Also, they had a button to call the waiter whenever you need assistance. I would love to come again to try the soondae and bossam, as well as get more jokbal!

Yelp
Ok so I'd passed by Jang Choong Dong multiple times going to other restaurants and I'd actually one time sat down here with a group of friends to eat but then left since they felt there was a somewhat limited selection of food. HOWEVER, I was so wrong to leave the first time as I came back with a friend and the food was great! Jang Choong Dong mainly has various types of Korean soups as well as meat dishes like Bossam, sundae, etc. My friend and I wanted something on the lighter side so we didn't order any of the meats but each got a soup which was perfect. I got the beef stew while my friend got a spicy pork stew. To be honest, I don't usually love/crave soups because I'm rarely satisfied afterwards and I find them to not be super filling. And so, I didn't have that high expectations after I ordered but the beef stew was SO delicious, savory, and smelled sensational. The broth is light and not oily and there was a generous portion of beef that it was actually very filling even though it was just a soup. It's the perfect meal that gives off a warm, home-cooked feeling. This might be one of the only soups that I've ever really craved afterwards. My friend liked the pork stew as well but after tasting both I think I'd recommend the beef stew over the other. Thinking about the soups as I'm writing this literally makes me so hungry and I'm excited to come back and try the meats next!

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend and we both ordered separate dishes but definitely could have shared. The place feels homey and is well ventilated. Service was quick, and there's a call button if needed. I ordered the jokbal and my partner ordered the blood sausage and there were plenty of leftovers. I saw a family of three share one dish too! there's nice string lights and the food wasn't too salty nor fatty for my personal preference

Yelp
We wanted to eat at that new omirice place but they closed their queue so we decided to eat at this place that's right next to the omirice place. When we walked in there was a handful of people eating not too busy. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and got sat. This is a not your typical korean restaurant. They have more authentic korean food that not a lot of people would be used to but it's worth a try! The food here was delicious and I would come here again. We got their bossam which was boiled pork belly i believe. It came with some sauces and you make a wrap out of them. There's two bossam one is for i think maybe portioned for two or more people and another bossam option portion for one person. The bossam also came with soup. We got soybean soup which paired well with the bossam. We also got their galbi. There was nothing too special about it. It was still good the only complaint is that there was barely any meat just bones. Overall I would rate this place a 5/5 and would recommend my friends to try this place out if they want to try authentic korean food!!
