Fusion spot dishes out sushi rolls with Latin-influences, such as cilantro & mango, plus happy hour.
"As questionable as Japanese-Mexican fusion might sound, Japonessa is kind of nailing it. Make a reservation, order some Bad Boy rolls (like spicy tuna rolls but battered and fried) and tempura brie for the table, and get a few rounds of mango sangria going. It’s a little touristy and nine out of ten times our sushi rolls completely fall apart and little grains of sticky rice and cucumber sticks end up all over the table, but it tastes great, there are exciting vibes aplenty, and it’s the perfect light-bite pregame." - Aimee Rizzo
"When: Daily, 12-5:30pm and 9pm-close The Deal: Discounted Sushi Specials At Japonessa, one of our favorite sushi spots downtown, the Happy Hour starts right when they open. Have lunch with sake and discounted super bad boy rolls (tempura-fried sushi). " - Aimee Rizzo
"Enter your Reputation era at Japonessa Sushi Cocina in downtown with a sushi roll inspired by the 2017 album. Filled with spicy crab, scallops, and asparagus, the roll is topped with a delicate dollop of black tobiko caviar over slender slabs of salmon and avocado. The restaurant is also offering two Eras drink specials." - Zoe Baillargeon
"When: Every day, open-5:30pm, 9:30pm-close The Deal: $7 glasses of wine, $8 select craft cocktails, $5 sake Japonessa has Happy Hour for the majority of their operating hours. There are plenty of tasty sushi specials to choose from if you’re trying to have a full dinner, but if you just want to drink, $5 sake is a good deal in our book. Pair it with some brie tempura." - aimee rizzo
