Awesome street style tacos that they make right in front of you. I had the tacos al pastor and the ceviche. Both were really great, and I'd definitely go back and try the other items on the menu too. I also loved the seating area around the bar!

Hospitality and cuisine at its finest. My wife and I stumbled upon this place at Dekalb Market in Brooklyn and it was the best part of our night. The staff was incredibly accommodating but I have to focus this review around the chef personally. He prepared our order in front of us and you could tell how much pride he took in his work. Every detail was precise. He made sure he served each customer a dish he was proud of. He then checked in with us to see if everything was to our liking. The food was immaculate and so fresh. If this place was alittle closer to my house I would be a regular. This is one of those perfect businesses and I'm very appreciative to the staff for making tonight an unforgettable date night

Well, 17 minutes to get just two tacos. The line cook and the cashier were too busy joking and giggling like children, not doing any work. Mind you, I'm the first lunch customer just imagine if they get busy later on. This place needs to hire professional behaved people and not people who just want to have fun and not serve the customer well. And after all, cold ASS tortillas.

I ordered food to go and they didn't include my side order of rice. I also ordered the rice bowl and the meat was dry and the rice was cold and crunchy. I tried calling 3 times and it went straight to voicemail.

Very good food I had the carne asada quesadilla, guac and chips, and their rice and beans and everything was delicious! The seating around the bar and everything is nicely decorated, the food is fresh and you can watch it be made, definitely recommend.

The tacos here was tasty and not your typical for my veggie eaters. I ordered the nopales tacos. I've had their guac too which is really good. Just be ready for the price, but could be worse for less.

The food was decently portioned and it tasted phenomenal. Customer service was great and the price is on point for a late-night place in the middle of Brooklyn. They would have had 5 stars from me but they had onions that were barely cooked in the Al pastor quesadillas ordered and it said this NO WHERE in the menu. My husband is allergic to onions and it makes him incredibly sick- it’s important to list ALL ingredients in the food on your menu, not just throw something in there without telling someone.

Chicken Burrito was on point and very delicious, staff was great too. It’s a bit noisy in the market hall but the great food makes up for it. Great place for take out.

Going down to the Dekalb Market I usually just pick one thing; like a little child who always wants French fries. But on this lovely day I discovered that they had a woman in the basement making hand pressed tortillas and that they were grilling meats on a spit! I was mesmerized and needed parts. So I waited in a decent line and wondered the whole time and smelled and happily ordered a $12 marg which should have cost 6 and it absolutely SLAPPED!! I almost forgot how good these tacos were. There is so many things to choose from don't be like me and miss out on the bomb tacos. Al Pastor for the WIN with a Mango Marg which the perfect compliment absolute must have. Seating is a bit complicated- so find a spot and cop a squat no assigned anything and I think they had one table they everyone kept bumping into so sit somewhere else. 5/5 highly recommend in the basement of Dekalb Market- I hope you find it.

Tacos are superb with amazing flavor! I ordered 2 Al pastor tacos with cheese and topped it off with lime and salsa! Flavorful and salsa was also authentic in flavor

I got a mushroom quesadilla here and it was delicious! It was reasonably priced for NYC and it was full of cheese and vegetables and it was really flavorful. I would recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner!

Really enjoyed the tacos here, had so much flavor, very delicious! It wasn't too busy for dinner time and we got our food fast. They also have fun drinks that I didn't get to try but will be back next time!

This is one of the best food places in Dekalb Market. They make everything fresh for you. The tortillas taste homemade. I noticed right away everything is not super greasy and flipped together like some Mexican places open late. This place has a whole scene around the bar, people love to sit here and order a drink and some tacos. I had Shrimp and Carne Asada. Everything fresh and high quality. There's a bit of a wait for your food but it's well worth it as it's not fast food.

I got a pollo asado taco here and it was disappointing. It was soggy, not all that well flavored, and dry. Not to mention on the more expensive side. There was The service was pretty fast but I wouldn't want to try their other tacos. I would rather try any of the other food options that are around the food court.

The food was very good! Went here with a few coworkers and we all enjoyed it.. they served just enough and the salsa verde added a nice spice too. The music and ambience made it even better. They played music by Mana & Otra Como Tu by Eros Ramazzotti! They definitely have great taste Oh and they had sports on at the bar which was another PLUS The staff were very friendly and prompt!

I like the food here. Been ordering in-person and delivery since they opened at Dekalb and would normally note this business a 4 of 5 stars. However this last time I came at 1 pm on a Tuesday. It wasn't busy. 1 person at the stall was eating in the open kitchen. I waited for a few minutes until he nearly finished and finally came up while talking on his personal phone. Ordered a burrito and tipped. There were 2 other women there after my order but uncertain their role. He then proceeded to may my burrito. I chirped up asked him to wash his hands since he hadn't after watching him finish off his own tacos. He put on some gloves (didn't wash hands) and made my burrito. I then get the attached rice burrito with very little meat. Disappointing to have this guy retaliate after just asking to be clean. @theowner and @themanager need to do better training and leadership here.

So good! I had the Al pastor and chips and salsa. Everything was very delicious and safe for gluten free eaters. I had the taco with the spicy sauce even though I am not a heat person and the meat was delicious! However the chips and salsa was wayyyy tooo spicy for me. My friend who even eats spicy usually, thought it was a lil hott. It was a tad costly as my taco was 5.50 and 3 bites in size. (I literally bit the ends then had the middle). There was no but 3 for 16 deal or anything like that. The workers were pleasant and the area had adequate seating. Overall I definitely will recommend and will visit again but getting full there may be a little costly.

It's been a while since I visited the Dekalb Market. I was specifically searching for a place with a short line, as the Fat Fowl line was too long to wait in with a child and no stroller. I had to skip that one. I noticed a spot next to it, so I opted for the shrimp tostada and an al pastor rice bowl without beans, along with a fresca. The shrimp tostada was surprisingly good for my first try. The rice bowl had a delightful, albeit slightly spicy, flavor. The al pastor was moist, and the pineapple accompanying it added a significant touch. The staff was friendly. Before purchasing, I sampled the fresca since I hadn't tried it before.

I was coming from my doctors appointment and wanted to grab some food after before I head to work so I stopped by the city point food court and found jefe tacos in the back and decided to give them a try! I'm glad I did the food was very good chicken was juicy and fresh not dried out I stayed and ate my food at the bar, I left very fully and the food reminded of a red med kind of vibe and taste it was really good

Very delicious but very expensive tacos. I always end up getting tacos from here because they are very very good. Freshly made tortillas, good salsas and good meats. I sometimes regret it because they're tacos are $5.50 a pop and they are pretty small. But here is the saving grace. They have a happy hour. Visit between 3-5 and instead of your $11 getting you 2 small delicious tacos, you'll get 3!

Food here is excellent. Service takes about 5-10 minutes depending on the rush. I love how the food is super fresh! Chips and Guac here are also delicious. My favorite every time is the carne asada, volcan is also very good! Love coming here for a quick bite. For my order here it was about $20 (2 carne asada and 1 Al Pastor taco)

I came here in September with my sister. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually found this place on Yelp, when we arrived I was surprised to find it was located in a food hall in the basement of a mall. While I was standing in line to order the first thing I noticed was a young lady making tortillas from scratch behind the counter. We ordered a variation of tacos and ceviche. The chicken pastor tacos were my absolute favorite. The pork tacos were equally good. I'm from miami and we have taco shops on every corner. This is easily one of the best tacos I've ever had!

Great addition to the Dekalb Food Court! I tried the Pollo Asado and Al Pastor both as Volcan. They were delicious with the Al Pastor being the standout with a perfect level of spice balanced by the pineapple. I like the flexibility of the menu that allows any of the five main option to be served as tacos, quesadillas, gringa, burrito, bowl, or volcan - a fried corn tortill with melted cheese which I enjoy trying for the first time. Wished they'd also add a grilled shrimp option though.

Great tacos and volcan! I ordered an Al pastor taco and volcan and everything was made fresh to order, even the tortillas. The items are a little on the pricey side but they gave a generous portion of meat with each. When I return, I will be trying more things on their menu!

Jefe tacos is an absolute gem for taco enthusiasts. From the moment you step in, you're transported to a vibrant and bustling Mexican street food atmosphere. The attention to detail in each ingredient and the expert craftsmanship in assembling the tacos are evident in every bite. The dude running the bar reeled me in with his charismatic attitude and with his Trivia. I was rewarded with a nice soothing drink, from answering all his questions. PS- From 3-5 its buy 2 tacos get 1 free, worth it and nice to have a drink while you wait.

I haven't been to DM in years and am unsure how new this place is but the al pastor is some of the tastiest tacos I've had. Yes it seems expensive but three tacos cost $15 which is what it would be at a restaurant. With hand made masa, meat you can see like gyro meat and great music this is definitely a spot to come into the market for. P.S if you cannot take the "spice" of black pepper probably best to not get tacos.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I had a rice bowl and the Beans and chicken were bland and portions are small for such a pricey meal. The taco is truly the smallest I've ever seen and for $5.50? C'mon. You're better off going to chipotle if you're looking for a meal that's tasty and filling

It was Tuesday and my best friend and I wanted tacos so we stopped at jefe. They had a special where you buy 2 tacos you get one free so that was perfect. One taco price was 5.50 not bad, but the portions are quite small. They're literally 2 bites each. I tried the chicken, pork, and the steak. The pork was hands down the best one. The pork was well seasoned and topped with pineapples which made it even more amazing. Chicken was bland, and the steak was just ok, but the pork did it for me. Service was quick and easy. Just place your order they make it fresh in front of you and pick up in less than 5 mins.

Got the cactus, carne asada and al pastor. All good but the al pastor was the best given the spice and the intriguing juxtaposition of pork, pineapple and sauce. I'm ashamed to confess that I liked my beverage yet can't recall exactly what it was - it was green and had mint but I don't remember if it was lemonade. My excuse is I visited Dekalb with a departed work friend so we exchanged a few rants which used up some of my brainpower.

They don't call them Jefe Tacos for no reason: they're certainly the boss when it comes to Mexican cuisine. Jefe Tacos provides not only an array of options when it comes to the types of beverages, tacos, burritos, or quesadillas you can order but also delightful service. You'll be served with a smile and you can crack a couple chistes en español if you'd like. The Pollo Asado tacos came with one free taco based on their lunch special, which was already very attractive especially for the price. The chicken itself had a slight char, which contributed a lot to its great flavor. The texture of the chicken mixes in really well with the soft flour tortilla and it all comes together nicely in terms of the sauces and toppings provided, especially if you decide to go in with a bit of lime. I was stuck for a bit because of how many amazing beverage options there were. You can never go wrong with a cold Jarritos or Squirt, but the apple soda and sangria also caught my eye. Needless to say, they know the right selection to go with their cuisine. Generally, this spot is one to look out for especially if you're into Mexican food. They're worth visiting again in the future.

Was at the mall to go to the Alamo for a movie and swung downstairs for a quick bite. Jefe Tacos hit the spot with their delicious al Pastor Volcan (a Crispy Corn Tortilla w/Fried Cheese). Price point is a bit high but...welcome to New York.

DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!! Im an Al Pastor person without pina, and for a person that has had Al Pastor from several different restaurants, this place made my top 5 list of best Al Pastor! Everything was cooked perfectly! The service was outstanding! Idk if the guy was the manager or owner (I don't remember his name)but he made us feel comfortable and welcomed! He made sure we had everything we need to make our experience the best! If you stop by the dekalb market hall make sure you stop by Jefe Tacos!

First time in the food court of Katz so was walking around and stumbled upon Jefe Tacos. I think for the price, it was okay. But paying $5-$6 for a single taco was fairly expensive, given how small it was. There was also no cilantro when I asked for some :(. The horchata was rather good though and not something I've seen much of recently at some Mexican restaurants. I think for a quick grab and go, it's convenient but not sure if $10 for 2 tacos is worth it.

Incredible tacos, and possibly the best option in dekalb market. Great vegetarian options (mushroom and cactus). Get a side of tortillas !!!

I forgot to take a photo but I Love The Tacos! They are filling and a good price. They also have grilled caucus Good service even though in a very high traffic spot. There is seating, but this is like a food mall at Albee Square. I'll take a photo today when I go back for more tacos.

Finally a taco place with Al pastor! Decided to give this place a try and I'm glad I did! The crispy tacos are so good and they aren't shy with the meat. The Al pastor was so flavorful and I love the pineapples on top! The crispy taco is like a big Tostitos scoop chip lol The asada was good too And their side of beans. The only downside is the food is a little on the pricy side and it takes a minute to get your food because it gets busy

This place is always packed and for good reason. The rice bowl is so good. I get it with everything and my tummy sings with happiness. It comes with tortilla or chips. I prefer the chips. The Jamaica (sorrel without all of the spices) is also good. They have tv screens up so you can watch tv as you eat. They also have a bar. I don't drink so I can't tell you what they serve. All in all, I've eaten from here a few times before and keep coming back.

I ordered a mushroom quesadilla from here as a quick meal to pick up. The food itself was decent, not the best I've had, but it wasn't bad. I personally felt it was a bit overpriced for what you got. The salsa I ordered as "medium-spicy" was really good and had quite a kick to it! If you don't do spicy, I would recommend going for their mild salsa for sure! When I ordered I was told "it'll be 2-3 minutes", which I knew was not realistic, but was hoping for something closer to 10 minutes, however, it took almost 20 minutes just for a quesadilla. Slightly annoyed by that, but I get it, they were a popular spot in the food market and I think people were placing online orders. I think they're better known for their tacos, the name is a dead giveaway I know, so next time I'll try their vegetarian tacos!

Phenomenal place in DeKalb market hall. I tried the al pastor taco and it was sublime! Extremely flavorful, juicy and just a wonderful combination of flavors. It is a generous portion, I would say 1-2 tacos is a snack and get at least 3 for a meal. Al pastor is one of my favorites and I have tried multiple Mexican spots within the city but I am going to go ahead and say this was the best al pastor taco I have had in NYC.

Really uncooked mushrooms they said "it was braised I got 3 of them for $6 each and literally over priced for just mushrooms I'm trying to get my refund asap this is crazy!

One of the absolute best tacos I've had in NY...EVER. I started with one Al pastore and had to order another ...the tacos beheld perfectly cooked meat seasoned to perfection and a gentle heat on the back end, topped with onions, cilantro and grilled pineapple and a bit more heat, with cucumbers and a radish to balance it out...I fell in love. The meat was tender and juicy with a nice edge to it and the spice and light fat would drizzle out with every bite. The pineapple offered a sweet balance to the spice without overpowering it . The actual taco was a single taco made from fresh corn and made thin enough to allow you to savor the filling. I don't like when I get thick tacos or even two tacos in a single filling because I find that it overpowers the flavors of the filling. Overall this place is bomb for its balanced flavors and I can't wait to go back!!

Came here because I was craving tacos and I won't be returning again. It's truly not worth spending $20 for 3 tacos. The tacos were bland and the toppings were the only thing that have it a kick. The cook already had the meats precooked and just added it to the taco. When I sat down I was basically eating a hot tortilla with pre heated meat. I wouldn't recommend this place.

BEST TACOS IVE EVER HAD!!!!!! A must try! I got the el pastor tacos and the meat was shaved in front of us & topped with pineapples. Perfect pairing. The steak tacos were topped with the greatest green salsa. The perfect heat!

Hands down the best tacos in New York!!! What I have been searching for. I'm from LA and craved some amazing authentic well seasoned tacos with all the goodness on top. The chicken gringa taco is my favorite. I love the pico de gallo, it's a bit spicy and perfect. BEST TACOS EVER.

We went on a Saturday evening at about 8pm and everything was sold out except the chicken. We ordered that and it came literally just dry chicken and cucumber. A pitiful taco with no moisture, flavor, or anything really. If they're that sold out, they should have just closed early instead of offering subpar food.

I never do this because I know running a restaurant can be very difficult in NY, but I had a food safety concern when eating here today and the staff dismissed me no matter how much I explained to them. I had been eating the shrimp ceviche tostada and halfway into eating it I was holding back vomit and running to the bathroom. My body violently rejected it because your stomach knows when shit ain't right. I had even had a taco before which I had 0 problem digesting, so that indicates that its the shrimp and not the food overall. I expelled my meal walked back and attempted to ask for a refund for the ceviche, or some sort of compensation or something that felt like a good service experience. The staff's response was dismissive and apathetic. More importantly they should have at least considered to stop serving the dish to avoid getting other customers sick. Even one bad shrimp (or under marinated when cooked cold in lime, not properly thawed, etc.) can make a person terribly sick. Seeing that seafood spoils easily, ceviche should be treated with a higher standard of safety. I'd suggest getting higher quality shrimp/fish and charging more to avoid this, also more profit for y'all. I'd refer to los mariscos (in Chelsea) for that, they do it right. Apologies for the long message but this was concerning and I think it should be addressed for your businesses success. Otherwise the carne asada was good, real good flour tortilla, but tbh you'd be better off going to Taqueria Al Pastor. Thanks! :)

Best tacos I've had in NYC to date! I rarely write reviews but had to share. I'm also conflicted about sharing how good this place is, as I want to keep it a secret (for selfish reasons) but also so glad they are in the neighborhood. We've had mediocre Mexican food for far too long! So so good! I'm very impressed! They don't skimp on portions, they are reasonably priced, extremely flavorful! Quite simply excellent overall! I will be dreaming about these tacos for the foreseeable future.

I'm rarely so inspired that I'll leave a message. But these tacos I just had!!!! They deserve a review. I got carnitas and al pastor and BOTH were amazing. AMAZING! Until now, I've only purchased the shrimp ceviche (which is so good I literally have it at least once a week-- please serve more chips with it!), but I will now be adding those tacos to my order because OH EM GEEEEE.

The food is really good here. Tacos are pretty good and worth coming back for. The service on the other hand lately has been extremely rude. Charging extra for sauce (99% of taco places give you small sauce on the side) and then not giving a bag when asked. The girl working the register doesn't want to be there and has a poor attitude. Hope manager realizes this issue and corrects it. Love to keep coming back but not if the service is bad.

I paid $19 including the tip for two ridiculously tiny tacos in a huge carry out container. Very disappointing and really not that tasty. I wouldn't go back.

the tacos were excellent, some of the best ive had. service was good, the food came out fast. the ambiance of the place was nice but had little seats. although I found what seems to be a pube in my food. so for that I give it a 1 star, since the health of the customer should come first. this goes against the pure health and food act of 1906. there shouldn't be pubes in my food and mouth

came here to get a quick meal and the girl was so rude . when she approached me she had an attitude and assumed I was not going to order and told me to leave when she never asked what I wanted . I highly recommend not going

Really good tacos. I had the pollo and carne asada. Both were delicious. Need a little more sauce. I'm a hot sauce enthusiast but they didn't have anything to spice it up
