The 12 Best Nashville Restaurants For A Birthday Dinner - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Some birthday celebrations need a little Vegas-style aplomb, and Jeff Ruby’s is about as close as you’re going to get to that in Nashville. If the platform stage with a full band doesn’t do it for you, maybe the chocolate replica of a Nike Air Max served in a Louis Vuitton glass case for dessert will. Add crystal chandeliers, lighting flanked by raucous red feather plumes, and red king crab-topped ribeyes with a “Bad Ass” cigar on the side, and an impromptu trip to the slots in Kentucky doesn’t feel too far-fetched." - jackie gutierrez jones 2, ann walczak

Where to Eat the Best Steak in Nashville and Franklin | Eater Nashville

"Nashville’s downtown location of Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, a Cincinnati-based chain, evokes old Vegas with its over-the-top interior and nightly live entertainment. It’s a lively setting for sushi and raw bar treats like seafood towers. Also on the menu: blue crab bisque, USDA Prime and wagyu steaks, and sides like a macaroni and cheese made with six imported cheeses and grilled asparagus. Look out for classic steak preparations like Steak Diane, served with mushrooms and brandy cream." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Jeff Ruby delivered a wonderful steakhouse experience. The curb appeal of the restaurant welcomes you in to the grand dining room and bar with stage and piano setup. JADA performed vocals while owning the piano and the group On Call ended the night with live music for all to enjoy. All of the staff from the reception folks to the bar were a pleasure to interact with. Specifically, Jermaine, Campbell, Olivia, Kimberly, Benton, Logan, and Beau. I am sure there were others we missed, but each added to our experience uniquely and pleasantly. I am a lover of all things food from the history to the techniques employed to prepare the dishes. The staff is well equipped with the experience and culinary knowledge to ensure the best tasting experience.

From the moment we walked into Jeff Ruby’s, we knew we were in for a special evening—but what truly made it unforgettable was the incredible service from Benton and Jacob. They were not only professional and attentive, but also genuinely passionate about the menu. Every recommendation they made was spot-on—from appetizers to dessert, they guided us like culinary pros. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every bite was rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and prepared to perfection. You could tell every detail was crafted with care—from the perfectly cooked steak to the decadent sides and cocktails that paired effortlessly with the meal. Benton and Jacob elevated the entire experience with their enthusiasm, expertise, and impeccable timing. Their energy was contagious and made us feel both taken care of and celebrated. If you’re in Nashville and want a top-tier dining experience with unforgettable service, Jeff Ruby’s is a must—and if you’re lucky enough to have Benton and Jacob as your servers, you’re in excellent hands.

We loved Jeff Ruby's. It's our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised by the service, the atmosphere and the delicious food. The smoked old fashioned was one of the best we've had. The sushi was exceptional for not being a Japanese restaurant! Very tasty! The American wagyu was delicious as was the sea bass. The atmosphere was eclectic and charming. The skillet cookie did not need chocolate ice cream, that's my only critique 😉 (but, of course that's just a matter of opinion) The cookie itself was delicious!! (The sprinkle of salt on top was divine, maybe a little heavy handed, but I like it that way)

Everything was meticulous and handled beautifully. I loved the wait staff. We celebrated my 50th Birthday and it was awesome. The small private room was perfect for our occasion. The wait staff even helped us blow up balloons! Wonderful people.

Google
This place exceeded my expectations! Not only was the food absolutely incredible, but our waiter, Donovan, was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. I came here for my bachelor party, and the private room was 100% worth it—it made us feel like royalty. The manager was also fantastic. We sampled most of the steaks and sushi, and everything was top-tier. Great vibes, amazing people, unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

Google
Great food. Outstanding atmosphere. Sushi is next level. Outstanding bar and cocktails but very, very pricey. Bar will make you a "custom" margarita then charge you an asinine amount for it. That's my only knock. A Don Julio margarita shouldn't cost $26 even at a Ritz in Dubai. My fault for not asking how much they were and assuming that they would be the same $16-18 all other drinks were...

Google
Everything here was outstanding! We don’t have these type of restaurants near our home and we truly enjoy good food. This was worth it! Our servers were very attentive and helpful. Kudos to Damian. Drinks, food, and atmosphere were beyond our expectations. The Australian Wagyu cap ribeye my husband ordered was the perfect temperature and he enjoyed it all. My strawberry salad and Music City sushi roll were delicious as well. Excellent wine selection and bourbons galore!

Google
Some of the most amazing food you will ever have. They are willing and able to accommodate most food allergies. Todd was an amazing server who clearly had tremendous knowledge of the restaurant including drinks and pairings. The sushi and steak were top 3 I have ever had. Herbstreit Sushi Role was absolutely 5 stars! You will find a wide Wagyu selection! The Boot Scootin' Ruby cake was an amazing creation and excellent presentation. It will feed a whole table and more. The cake itself; the taste was underwhelming. You can't beat the ambiance and history of Jeff Ruby's.

Yelp
Unbelievable night at Jeff Ruby's! We're lucky enough to be served by Jacob and if you want the best experience available request him. A true professional in the restaurant business. We chose to have him serve us his best recommendations and it ended up being a great night with one of the best meals we have eaten. Will definitely be back to get this experience again.

Yelp
My first time dining at Jeff Ruby's and everything was lovely. As a server myself I really appreciated Jimmy, he did a great job with the service and had great recommendations. Charlotte was always there to prepare the table and help with anything we needed as well!

Yelp
Had the BEST experience yesterday at Jeff Ruby's to celebrate Valentine's Day! My husband has been wanting to try authentic A5 Wagyu beef from Japan for a while now. I was searching for restaurants in the area that served it and happened upon Jeff Ruby's, boy am I glad I found them! We made reservations to celebrate Valentine's Day for their dinner service at 5pm. Not a surprise, but the place was packed when we entered! We loved the vibe of the restaurant. When you first walk in there's the bar area to the right but the dining area is separate and more laid back. Definitely awestruck by all the beautiful chandeliers throughout the dining rooms, very beautiful. Service was top notch, as to be expected with a higher end steakhouse. Our waitress was so attentive and quick to get us any requests we had. The other wait staff were super fast at refilling our beverages throughout the night, I don't think we ever had an empty glass. Definitely 5 star service here. For our meals, I ordered the Caesar salad and my husband got the A5 Japanese Wagyu. We also ordered a couple sides: Jeff ruby's baked macaroni and cheese, Poblano cheddar cornbread and the Garlic Parmesan fries. Everything was delicious! My husband highly recommended the steak. He said it just melts in your mouth - honestly I'm not surprised. The mac and cheese has 6 different types of cheese baked in, and a very thick cheesy top crust. The cornbread was just the right amount of spicy, and not too dense. The fries were good but I think we could do without them next time. Just because they were nothing special, the dipping sauce they come with was good though. I believe it was a garlic aioli. For dessert, my husband and I shared the carrot cake. Honestly out of everything we had tried for the evening - I think this may have been my favorite! Hands down one of the best carrot cakes I've ever had in my lifetime. The cake to icing ratio was perfect and it was drizzled with a warm caramel cream cheese icing which made it even more delicious! Overall I would highly recommend Jeff Ruby's steakhouse if you are looking for top notch service and delicious food. We loved everything about our experience and will definitely come back for future dining experiences. PS - they also have valet parking for guests so definitely recommend utilizing that service if you come!

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place more than I did. The service, decor, seating and dessert were great. We got the 12 ounce filet cooked medium but parts of it were way overcooked. The pork chop was the worst pork chop I've ever had as far as the way it was cooked. I really hate sending food back but it was raw pork in the center, which was so odd considering they cut up the pork chop into pieces to plate it and you would have thought they would have caught that before going out. The server did kindly offer to cook it more, get another entree or redo another one. I opted for it to just cook it more. The oysters were very good. The bread was good as well but the outside was burnt. They did give us a complimentary dessert which was very nice of them. The carrot cake was the star of the meal. This place does get really busy and you do have to book reservations well in advance. Overall, I'm glad we got to try it but not sure I would come here again given all the restaurant options in downtown Nashville.

Yelp
What an experience for my birthday!! A lot of my party was first time visitors in Nashville but boy did we have a time at this place . EVERYTHING went as expected, nothing less. Upon arrival we were greeted with free valet parking which was great for this busy part of town. Walked in and waited less than 5 mins to be seated. We got the private room which was the perfect photo opportunity. Everything in there was perfection!!!! On top of that we had some nice scenery, a big screen personal tv & a very nice alcohol collection cabinet. The service was top tier. Valet, greeters, servers, manager, cooks- they all deserve a standing ovation‼ Also, they made custom menus for my party And now to the main focus: the food & drinks. French 75 (Regular & w/tequila) 10/10- 1 was perfect! Chilean Seabass: 10/10 Flaky as a crableg Nashville Hot Oyster: 10/10 Spicy but flavorful Mac & Cheese: 9/10 very tasty but very rich Shrimp & Grits: 10/10 the creole sauce Collard Greens: LISTEN IDK WHOSE GRANDMOTHER WAS BACK THERE COOKING THEM BUT WHEW Brussel Sprouts: 7/10 a little too charred but decent. Not pictured: Bourbon Steak 10/10 Creamed Spinach: 10/10

Yelp
GORGEOUS restaurant! The beautiful chandeliers everywhere are to die for. The food was good, but overpriced. You're paying for the ambiance. Service was great too.

Yelp
On our most recent visit, we sat at the bar and decided to stay there. The live musician, Jada, was fantastic! We had drinks and shared multiple appetizers. We love the classy vibe here and will definitely be back. Make a reservation!

Yelp
Husband brought me for my birthday dinner and honestly was almost 5 stars. The place has an old money , country feel with nice artwork and lots of soft lighting. We sat at the bar area with high seating which I am not a fan of for a dinner but that's the only reservation he could get a week before as we came from outa town to Nashville. Our server and all the staff were very attentive and friendly. They knew the menu well and could make good suggestions. The bread they bring comes with a garlic soft butter and it was amazing. This made me believe all the dishes would be on point. The drink I got was a Moscow mule that was supposed to have a blueberry type enhancement but I couldn't taste it so pretty average unfortunately. The appetizers we got were the sushi California roll which I was not a fan of but my husband did like. To me it was hard rice with no flavor. Then we also got the bruschetta which won me over ! It was packed with flavor and great texture too. Main meals we got was of course meat and they were cooked and flavored to perfection. To top it off we paired it with lobster Mac and cheese - this was mmmmmm best with actual pieces of lobster you could see through out and a mild cheese. Last we got a cheesecake dessert that hit the spot. Because it was a bday celebration they did bring me a plate of 3 mini dessert which has a cookie , butter cake and a sweet cream - all VERY good. Overall great quality, service and ambiance. A few opportunities but pretty minor. Would definitely go back for a nice quality meal.

Yelp
Last night at Jeff Ruby's was an absolute dream! The food was out of this world, and our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. The ambiance? Simply stunning! I can't wait to go back. 10/10, highly recommend!

Yelp
Everything about our experience was great. The lobster bisque was one of the best we've ever had. We shared the rib cap. The service and environment was top notch. Corridan was our waiter and he was very kind, knowledgeable and attentive. We will go back on our next visit.

Yelp
My wife and I came in on Saturday (02/08) night the place was busy. We talked to the host and she said the tables in the bar were reserved for reservations and they had no reservations available. We were waiting for a spot at the bar to come open, when another couple came in. I walked closer to the bar to see if I could find a spot, or someone who was leaving and my wife stayed back by the host stand. The gentleman who came in behind us moved closer to the bar as well and began to speak to the bartender, his partner stayed back and began to engage the hostess. My wife overheard the hostess tell the lady with the other couple, that she just had a cancelation for one of the tables in the bar, the hostess said if they ordered an appetizer they could have the table until 7:45. After the other couple was sat I approached the hostess to ask if they had a reservation for that table and the hostess told me that they did. At that point I asked her about what my wife had overheard regarding the cancellation and the requirement for them to order an appetizer and then they could have the table until 7:45, the hostess told me that never happened. My wife had went outside at this point so I went to confirm with her as to what she had heard, since the hostess basically called her a liar. My confirmed that she had heard the hostess tell the other couple that there had been a cancellation and they could have the table until 7:45, if they ordered an appetizer and some drinks. I'm not sure why when I asked the hostess if this interaction occurred she chose to lie. Sorry Jeff Ruby staff and management, I don't think we will return to this location with staff like this, there is no need for me to frequent your establishment!

Yelp
It was just ok for me. The decor was very cool and nice mix of old school city steakhouse and the south. The main letdown was the service. The waiter seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. Most frustrating of all was when my steak came out he brought me a ramekin of horseradish despite ordering Bleu cheese. I pointed this out to him and he said he'd fix it right away. He then proceeded to wander around talking with other tables, taking orders, and doing nothing to remedy my issue. I waited patiently, but eventually started eating my steak before it got cold. The host came over to ask how everything was and I explained the situation. He immediately went to the back and returned with a sizzling ramekin of melted Bleu cheese which was fine and better than not having the flavor at all, but wasn't what I was expecting and I wasn't able to enjoy it for the entire steak experience. So overall it was a real letdown which is a shame since I'd heard good things.

Yelp
Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse stands as a paragon of sophistication and culinary artistry in Tennessee. Renowned as the state's most expensive dining destination, every detail is meticulously crafted, ensuring that each dollar spent is a worthy investment. As a self-proclaimed regular, my preferred table L14, is always noted in my reservation, epitomizing the unparalleled Jeff Ruby's experience. The steaks at Jeff Ruby's are legendary, consistently cooked to perfection, but it's the sushi that truly sets this establishment apart. The freshest in Nashville, the sushi features bluefin belly that melts in your mouth and a roll named after the queen of Tennessee, Dolly Parton, capturing her vibrant, yet spicy, personality with every bite. The crowning glory of the menu is the lobster mac and cheese, a decadent dream for seafood and carb enthusiasts alike. This dish exemplifies the luxurious indulgence that Jeff Ruby's is truly celebrated for. Table L14 offers the perfect vantage point in the lounge, where the ambiance is relaxed yet exudes the elegance that defines Jeff Ruby's. This booth, accommodating up to four guests comfortably, provides a view of the stunning baby grand piano, enhancing the dining experience with its serene melodies. For an exceptional treat, request an espresso martini hand-shaken with true fresh espresso. While the Tito's espresso martini machine is commendable for casual settings, the hand-shaken version elevates the experience. For an adventurous twist, try it with reposado tequila, perfectly complementing the Jack Daniel's Truffle Cake--a colossal slice of chocolate decadence topped with warm Jack Daniel's butter sauce. Admittedly, there are times I visit solely for this extraordinary dessert. Jeff Ruby's steakhouse is not just a meal; it's an experience of culinary excellence and refined elegance. From the impeccable steaks to the unexpected sushi delights, every visit reaffirms its status as an unmatched dining destination in all of Tennessee.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The service was top notch and was extremely relaxing to eat here. Wine was perfectly paired and even did a little something extra for my partners birthday. Would recommend and would return. Slightly more expensive than similar restaurants in Nashville but well worth it.

Yelp
We were a big group with separate checks, which can be complicated. Our server team handled it with ease! The food is incredible. Side dishes are massive and easy to share. If you're dining with a group, you can try a little of all of them with a little planning! The bread and butter is delicious. The bread is freshly baked with the perfect crispy crust. The butter is creamy and delicious! I am a breast cancer survivor and was moved to tears when I was given one of the Jeff Ruby pink ribbon pins. What a special memory!!

Yelp
This was tops 3 experiences of my dining experiences! Every dish was exceptional but what truly set our experience apart was the staff led by our waiter Jacob. Between his attention to every detail in explaining and pairing combined with attentive management and every staff member. The ambiance is set perfectly to the menu including lighting and volume Thank you to Jacob, staff and management for making an ultimate culinary experience

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. If you are in Nashville, Jeff Ruby's is definitely a great place for dinner. They had live entertainment and great drinks. The restaurant is decorated really quirky and cute. The food was to die for. Every meal we ordered was incredible. The desserts were fantastic and the service was excellent. Tyler was our waiter and he explained everything and was really nice.

Yelp
First trip to Nashville and my husband wanted to try this place. Service was great. From the host to the servers, I was impressed how attentive and helpful they all were. Not once did we have to ask for more water, they just knew what we needed. We were in awe with their service. The restaurant was super cute. Loved the band that was playing. Def made the atmosphere very happy and lively. We ordered pretty much everything that our server recommended. Did not disappoint. We had the crispy pork wings, very tasty, so soft it fell off the bones. Yellowtail jalapeño hamachi, yum. And the red crabs legs. That too was really good but just on the pricey side so prob won't get that again. For dinner we had the wagyu ribeye, so good but too charred on top. We loved the creamed corn, Mac n cheese was a little too heavy, very cheesy. We had a great time. Very satisfied. Will def recommend.

Yelp
Last night was the worst ever. Jeff ruby is a very vibrant & loud atmosphere. They had an 8 piece band playing great music... Max (manager) said we had a complaint that we were talking loud, keep in mind - Jim, our server had told us at the beginning that he loses his voice nightly and just wants to stare at a wall each night when he goes home to his financé, because he has to yell so that Customers can hear him. Every single time Jim came to the table he had to yell for us to hear him. Travis- manager, was great every interaction we had with him. But unfortunately he wasn't aware of what all was going on before it was too late and we were walking out. Alissa-GM. Came over hostile asking what was going on, I explained the situation and what was said and that we were super confused on how we got a complaint for being loud when it is 90+ decibels in here. We got up and left before getting our food We have been to Jeff ruby's multiple times and even rented out the private Jeff ruby room before. This was the worst experience we have ever had.

Yelp
Can I give 100 stars? What an experience! Don't leave Nashville without coming here! This was the night light of our trip! First time visiting Nashville coming from Beverly Hills . A friend of my husband recommended this restaurant . Wow! So old Hollywood so elegant and charming ! The food was so high quality and delicious and the service was so kind and friendly . This restaurant is an experience !!!. I'm very well traveled and appreciate a good quality service , athis place was incredible! Mr. Jeff (owner) bravo to you! I give credit to our fabulous Katie with the biggest smile ! The sweet Chris , and the two lovely assistant managers Jeff and Max!.

Yelp
Been here twice for 2 amazing meals. Had a large group both times and the servers were amazing at handling the orders. Strongly suggest going during the special, we got the lobster and filet combo and that dealt can't be beat. Definitely a loud atmosphere, not great for an intimate dinner. Had great entertainment from a piano player throughout the entire evening.
google avatar

Neva K.

Yelp
From the front door to the restrooms, this place is gorgeous and posh. Old world lux with red velvet wallpaper and an elevated live pianist. Music memorabilia pepper the walls reminding you of this towns history. We had a party of 6 and the service was not only prompt but our waiter was fun and engaging. Appetizers order: raw west coast oysters, blue crab bisque soup (large lumps!), akami sashimi, burrata toast (huge portion). Sides ordered: classic Caesar salad, roasted Brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, lobster gnocchi (tons of huge lump meat)...these are all served family style and one side was enough for us all to share. Main Dishes: Cowboy Steak (70 day dry aged ribeye), Steak Collinsworth, Steakhouse Burger. There is not a thing that wasn't amazing! No regrets on any orders and would eat again! We were celebrating several birthdays so the waiter brought out a giant slice of the Jack Daniel's Truffle Cake for us to share....we did not finish it, but man we tried! Decadence in chocolate!

Yelp
We love going out to nice steakhouses, and must say our visit to Jeff Ruby's was as good as it gets. The cocktail and wine selections were great. For starters, we had the Wagyu Meatball and Pork Belly. Both were terrific. Then, for the main meal, we had the Wagyu Filet and Ribeye, respectively, accompanied by asparagus and mashed potatoes, all cooked to perfection. We were stuffed, but still had to split a slice of strawberry ice cream cake as it sounded too good to pass up. We were glad to do so, as it was a nice cap on a 100-degree day! The service was top notch from start to finish, and the setting was very unique with a warm feeling. The noise level was perfect to carry on with good conversation.

Drew S.

Yelp
We decided to get seafood and it did not disappoint. Highly suggest the crab cake and blackened sea bass.
google avatar

Molly F.

Yelp
The service was great and food was good however, I expect greatness from a place like this. We love our steaks rare, and while my filet was perfect, the Hatchet was under temp. I totally understand getting a bone in steak to 120 degrees throughout is difficult but this came out at about 70. I'm also a firm believer if I can do it at home, a steakhouse with this kind of reputation should be able to do it even better. Unfortunately that wasn't the case here. My lobster lacked flavor and wasn't de-shelled correctly. The crème brûlée was very well done as well as the cheesecake. The star of the show was definitely the tuna flight. While it was great to experience, we won't be back.

Yelp
Amazing company Christmas party at Jeff Ruby's last night! The room was decorated for the holidays beautifully and the food! just wow! The crab cakes, Australian Filet and the Butter Pie were off the hook! All of it was so so good. Jeff Ruby's has the best staff who were so attentive! It was just the loveliest of night!

Yelp
If I could give 100 stars I would. We have been going to Jeff Ruby's since 2019 and each visit seems just as great as the last one. We have never had a bad dish and have tried several with the cowboy ribeye blackened and the macaroni being my fav. The service is beyond top notch and I think it's so cute that the waiters escort you to the restroom. The live music is awesome on the weekends and whenever we don't reserve a table we sit at the bar and always meet nice people. I know some of our fave staff has moved on but David the bar tender always took care of us. He was the one who signed us up for the JR loyalty club which gave us $75 off our bill once. We do have a fav server which is on our file to make sure we're seated with him whenever we can get a reservation. This will always be our go to spot when we want a nice meal and want to treat ourselves.

Yelp
What an amazing restaurant. Beautiful interior. Service was fantastic. Everyone in my group enjoyed our meals. The steaks were cooked to perfection! Mashed potatoes were delicious. The Jack Daniel's cake was one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever had. I have zero complaints & can't wait to come back to this spot.

Jay P.

Yelp
Incredible from start to finish. Old school charm with fantastic food. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing so we could enjoy our time.

Yelp
Yup another five star meal in Nashville. We were just over 30 people in a lovely private room right off the entrance and that gave this party sound isolation from the restaurant- great sound level for conversation at our room with six-top seating. Love the ample windows avoiding the cave-like setting, lighting level was perfect. And the food and service was spot-on. Large selection of food choices and everyone was happy with what they got demonstrated by clean plates. We cruised through starters, salads, mains and desserts- not a bad choice in the list. Good selection of wine and no complaints about the cocktails. All good but what makes this place shine was the smooth, profession service delivered by people were universally pleasant. Lots of things to applaud and, highly recommended for private dinning.

Yelp
Jack Ruby's Steakhouse provided one of the top ambiance dining experiences I've had in Nashville. The decor was fantastic, evoking a speakeasy nostalgia with its unique design and inviting windows. It was my birthday, so I decided to splurge, and I couldn't have been more pleased with my choices. I started with the colossal shrimp cocktail, which was fresh and delicious. The crab cakes were next, and they did not disappoint--they were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The highlight of the meal was the Japanese A5 Wagyu Ribeye, cooked medium rare. It was, without a doubt, one of the best steaks I've ever had, incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. Jack Ruby's Steakhouse made my birthday celebration truly special, and I look forward to returning for another memorable dining experience.

Yelp
Overall, we had a good dinner at Jeff Ruby's. The atmosphere is a little eclectic - neon pink lights mixed with chandeliers is different. The service was great--our main server was okay but the waitstaff that worked with him were excellent. Shout out to Dakota! The food was good. I ordered the Petite Filet and my husband had the Bourbon Filet. We shared brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese. They do have a sourdough bread basket that is served with the most amazing truffle butter. OMG. Honestly, the bread and butter was the best thing I ate that night followed by the mac and cheese. The filet mignon was fine. Do I think it was worth $64 or $74? No. I have had better filet mignon at other steakhouses for around that price. The brussels and mashed potatoes were good but again, nothing soooo wonderful about them that I would die to eat them again. I can now check this steakhouse off the list.

Yelp
Best steak I've ever had in my life, no joke. Amazing service, and great atmosphere with a live band. We had a bachelor party of ten and they flawlessly took care of us. Shoutout to Olivia for being the best server!

Yelp
I am starting my review with Ambiance first because that is the most impressive thing about Jeff Rudy's. We loved the high class look of the restaurant. Food - we are not send it back people (We should be) My wife's steak was extremely tough and overcooked. I had the Australian Wagyu filet (which I had visions of a melt in your mouth steak) however another send it was a bit tough and I ate only. half of it. The crab bisque was fabulous!! Service- our server Chelsea must have had too many tables- she was very nice and was mostly attentive, however after discussing I had served in the military for 35 years- she forgot to apply the discount to our check- then when we asked her it appeared she only gave a 10% discount, we paid with 2 ($100 gift certificates and she only applied one) -

Yelp
Incredible experience at the Nashville Location. Don't get me wrong...it's pricey, but probably one of the top 3 steak restaurant experiences I've ever had. Great food, drinks, service, and really liked the piano bar. Would definitely go again!

Yelp
Overall, great experience but maybe consider self park instead of valet. I went to Jeff Ruby's for reataraunt week, which was an amazing deal of $55 for a 3 course meal, plus bread! When I first entered the restaurant I had not done much research outside of the restaurant week menu so I was surprised when the inside was very vibey and colorful, unlike a traditional steak house which is often dimly light, a little aged, and very dull colors. This spot has colorful lights and murals, but still looks high end and comfortable. We were seated in the bar area, which featured a piano player - who was wonderful and seemed to have a very fun personality! It was loud, but never too loud I felt like I couldn't hear the person at my table or that I had to yell to talk. The meal started with warm sourdough bread, which had 2 types of butter. One tasted like a standard high end salted butter and the other was a truffle butter which was perfectly earthy and very soft! I really enjoyed both, but the truffle was my favorite. Next this special offered came with a salad, which was well dressed but overall pretty standard - I did like the big pieces of bacon! The second course was a petite fillet with asparagus, potatoes, a sauce, and shrimp. The filet was cooked perfectly to my requested medium, and the waitress even came by to do a temperature check. The shrimp were well seasoned and had a nice texture. The potatoes were great, and so was the asparagus! The last course was the butter pie, which we were told was made in house (like all their desserts). It was fantastic! Great flavor and you could tell it was more freshly prepared instead of frozen, which is great! The pecan topping was a great added texture as well. To drink I did the "It's Britney, Spritz" which 10/10 for the name but also was a fantastic drink! It was vodka based, with bubbles, and featured a house made lavender syrup, it pulled more sweet than floral - which is appreciated by me because too floral taste like a candle or soap to me! The service was great! Many people stopped by to check on us during the meal, clean the table, clear the plates, and refill waters. Everyone was friendly, and seemed to enjoy being there. The only downside to my night was the valet. Where I love and appreciate that complimentary valet, I didn't have the best experience. Handing my car over was simple, and the valet was easy to find. My friend who arrived after me said she saw they parted my car nearby on 4th (valet drop off is on Union). So when I went out I didn't expect it to take long to get my car. However, timing was a little off and we left at the same time as a crowd of people. Luckily most had arrived together. When everyone cleared out I handed over my ticket and the one valet said "I'll go get her car" and the other said "it's right there" I assumed they were talking to each other but then he handed me the keys and said "I'll walk you to your car" which is not standard practice for valet and I didn't really want to walk in heels but I just followed him. The space was really tight so I asked if he could pull it out, and he did - which was nice. However, when he went to get out of the car he put it in reverse instead of park and it the car quickly started rolling backwards. He was able to get fully back in the car and hit the break just before it hit another parked vehicle. I was pretty speechless and a little in shock. I handed over my tip, and finally remembered to breath. He barely apologized for almost crashing my vehicle. An heartfelt apology seemed like a correct response for this type of situation, and I'm disappointed it wasn't offered but I'm also disappointed that valet was offered, but I was asked to walk to my vehicle instead of it being returned to me, which I believe would have put it in a better position to not have the chance to roll into other vehicles. To be noted I have a very standard gearshift. It's from park to drive in a straight line, so I'm not entirely sure how it was put into reverse and I understand accidents happen but more of an apology rather than a "woah I don't know why that happened" would have been appreciated. So, maybe if you chose to visit opt for one of the self park options nearby (I know it sucks most free downtown parking has been eliminated).

Yelp
Home away from home. I have been coming to this location for months, I haven't been active on here much so this review is long over due. I won't talk much about food at a high-end restaurant you expected to be awesome and yes everything I've had here has been top-notch. Let's start with when you pull up. The valet, yes that matters. I was greeted by Abe. He has a smile a mile wide and right away I felt like a regular. This was my first visit. The bar. They have bartenders that treat bartending as a craft not a job. Benton was the first who served me the second time I walked in he knew my drink and just how to make it. He also makes the best old fashioned I ever had. Sinclair always has a good story and is always engaged with his customers just like Benton. Ok barback. Who reviews a bar back you ask? Yes me. Jimmy, really cares about his customers and it's obvious he will be moving up the chain They are always in the background. The second time I walked in he told Benton that I was there and what The drink order should be. Benton looked over give me a nod and brought over drinks. Now to the table. Jordan was our server. She has a wonderful personality and is very attentive to her customers I feel like she is serving us food like we are in her home I also have the name the piano player, Jeff. He remembers customers and plays songs for them. On his breaks, he make sure to say hello to people around the bar. And lastly, Max, the general manager. He always makes it a point to talk to his customers and make sure that they are having a great experience. If you made it this far next time I see you I will give you a gold star.

Yelp
Wow this steakhouse is one of the best places I have visited. The service, ambience and yes even bathrooms are 5 stars. We started out with a sushi roll as an appetizer which I was pleasantly surprised at given it's a steakhouse but it was pretty good. Go with simplicity you don't need the filet mingon lobster sushi roll. We had a simple tuna and yellow fin roll. We then split a Caesar salad which was delicious and the "cowboy steak". For dessert we had the butter pie which was just ok, but we didn't want much since we were already full. Drinks are decent as well. Only thing I felt weird about was the piano guy was playing Disney theme songs which wasn't really fitting for this restaurant.

Yelp
Seated promptly at our reservation time. Warmly greeted. Booth seating was very nice. Oysters and shrimp were excellent. Very unique presentation with lighted platters. Finally, a place that serves a generous amount of horseradish. Freddie salad was large and fresh. It was a bit too filling for me. Next time, i would do the caesars. NY strip was the best I have ever had. It was as tender as a filet but with way more flavor. Spouse enjoyed the filet.

Yelp
A wonderful restaurant to celebrate any special occasion. The Rockefeller oysters are a must have as well as the lobster gnocchi. The customer service was exceptional and our waiter was attentive.

Yelp
I went here for a get together with work colleagues. The service was absolutely top notch and the food was delicious. We had a couple of seafood towers and then I had the Joe Burrow steak (Blackened Ribeye with crawfish sauce). I know the prices are up there, but it is so worth the experience.

Yelp
I spend so much time talking about the food at fine dining places, today I want to express the superior level of service. Yes first of all the food was amazing. We were in the Jeff Ruby room. The owners private dining room that seats like twelve with a private patio, for smoking. The server presents himself, cocktails are offered, wine is poured. Now the orchestra begins, as three servers deliver bread, butters and accoutrements. I have been in this business my entire adult life so I thought I would test them. I used my steak knife for butter to see if it would get replaced before any food arrived, I dropped my napkin in a ball to see if it would be refolded, I purposely left crumbs to see if they would scrape my table space! Of course they did, all points without a thought. Mostly because in a place of this magnitude it's a polished habit. The decor is a lavish and upscale posh. There are personal moments of glorious times everywhere . The food and drinks are delivered with pizzaz! Every bite is curated to appeal to those who are used to this type of dining and comfort! Every meal should be this magnificent. Every diner should feel this lavished over!

Yelp
First time in Nashville and first time to Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse. The food was delicious and we were all pleased that there was a myriad of steakhouse dishes choices and sushi too!! I ordered a meatball and sauce plated on a bed of grits and it was tasty with a side of delicious grilled asparagus. Our party of 7 ordered wedge salads, different types of steaks, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, wines and desserts. Everyone loved their dinners. Service from Beau was exemplary. He was professional, knowledgeable and he had an elegant air about him. Best waiter we've ever, ever interacted with. The only thing missing would have been a little more friendly interest/interaction/banter with us. His assistant Nicole was also wonderful. This restaurant is definitely a vibrant and happening restaurant filled with exuberant diners. It is beautiful with great decor and attractive details too. We had a memorable and lovely dining experience.

Yelp
This is my wife and my 3 rd different JR restaurant. It is by far our favorite steak house. We live in Florida. We travel to the Kentucky- Tennessee area yearly and would not ever think of coming into the area without at least one night at a JR restaurant . Service is absolutely the max. Food even better . Live music.

Jason, Bo, and Peter were awesome and fastastic! This place is the epitome of a great service! It's not your typical chain steak house!

Yelp
This place is spectacular! The chandeliers and the raised piano at the center of the bar was great! The inside decor is glitzy in a TN Broadway tasteful way. Food was delicious and a sensory treat.
