Kim and her husband are the best! This is my favorite breakfast diner in San Francisco. The food is always amazing and the service is perfection. Kim is the most kind and genuine server ever. If you're in San Francisco and want a great breakfast, lunch, a snack or an amazing mimosa come to jims on mission.

I am a huge fan of family-owned businesses and diners, and Jim's Restaurant is both. With its clean retro style and wonderful, welcoming atmosphere, it stands out. I had the Eggs Benedict and was impressed with the service, food, and price. I highly recommend this 32-year-old staple of the Mission District.

Absolutely perfect. The food was delicious (I had the waffle, bacon, browns, egg, and coffee; all amazing) and the staff is incredibly kind and genuinely caring. I'll definitely be coming back!

This charming diner is over 100 years old and has been owned by the same family for the past 30 years. Jim's has quickly become one of my favorite local breakfast spots - it's lowkey with classic diner fare and wonderful service. I've had the pleasure of chatting with the owner and her daughter, who are both delightful. As regulars, we are now treated like family. I'm a big fan of the corned beef hash, and my partner loves the omelettes. Stop by for a bit of SF history, a tasty bite, and terrific service!

This is an old school diner run by Kim and her husband. If you like mimosas, Kim has a nice large glass for you. (they come in 2 sizes) Wings were crispy. Steak, egg and home fries were good. The steak had more fat than I like. My coffee cup was always full. Kim runs the front of the house and is such a wonderful person.

Love Jim's! Been coming here for years and it's low key with great service and tasty, reasonably priced food. These kinds of spots are getting harder and harder to find in San Francisco and I've always had amazing, quick service and my go to is the chicken fried steak with soft scrambled eggs and hash browns and I rotate the type of toast i have based on my mood. With so many old school places closing around the city it's nice to have a go-to that's always there for you. Good, solid food and I actually really like the interior decor and vibe. Go by today and support this family owned business!

The Korean lady behind the register was very rude didn't smile much. I had a short stack with bacon and scramble eggs with hash browns and wheat toast. My bill was $45.00 I'm sure she over charged me. After I paid she sure was smiling. I'll never come here again. The old owners was alot better the place was empty not like before.

We were a group of 6 adults plus 2 loud & restless toddlers. We were immediately greeted like family and seated in a spacious booth that allowed us to corral the kids. We quickly had coffee, ice water and orange juice (& 2 to-go cups with lids for toddler juice). Mrs. Kim knows our son who stops in frequently and was excited to meet his family. The famous green hot & garlicky sauce came out with the second pour of coffee, quickly followed by our steaming hot eggs, hash browns & various salty breakfast meats. Topped with the green sauce and a third cup of coffee, it was delish. One of us had the corned beef hash that was excellent, especially with green sauce. Did I mention how great the green sauce is?!

This place really hits the spot! Old school/traditional diner feel. Great food, great coffee, and great prices too!

Wow! Such an amazing breakfast!!!! I happened to come across this place by chance as I was walking by on Mission Street. When I walked inside, I was warmly welcomed by Kim. She is super sweet and is the reason I'm leaving this review. The food was fantastic! I ordered the turkey sausage with eggs, hash browns and toast. A clean hearty, post workout breakfast. Anyways, would 110% recommend this place as well as looking forward to eating here again.

I have been coming to Jim's for almost 30 years. It has always been very humble but is consistently friendly, lively, and leaves my belly happy. I introduced my soon-to-be wife to this place when she moved into town. Ms. Kim, her husband, and their loyal staff always greet us. We get our coffee, tea, and POG juice fast fast FAST, then have a little time to settle into reading the menu. I am a vegetarian but there are a few selections I can choose from. Servers are always conscientious about ingredients and have NEVER made a mistake in my order. Food also always arrives hot and fresh. Their pancakes are some of the best. Eggs exactly to order. Order the hash browns crispy. For lunch, delicious salads and veggie burgers. Shakes. Great french fries. All the diner food; even Hangtown Fry which I've never had but my wife loves too. She usually orders the fish and chips at lunch. There are plenty of options for sides, too, from green salad to cottage cheese. Bottom line: Great food, consistent quality, and very affordable. When they are busy, you may need to wait a few minutes for a table to be cleaned and reset. But it's worth it!

A old school diner in the Mission district. I Had an amazing time chatting with Kim (owner) at breakfast. The food was ok. Wings and fries. Steak, eggs, and home fries. Steak had a lot of fat. (You can request a steak with little fat) info for the next visit. I enjoyed my glass of mimosa. The coffee was hot and the cup stayed full.

I love this breakfast joint for its simplicity. Your coffee is always full. The food is exactly what you would expect from a classic diner-except they throw in that mission flair with an amazing salsa verde (off menu of course) that you can smother on everything. The people who run this place offer the best service and the prices can't be beat- and the best part is I never have to wait. There is usually plenty of space and the service is most efficient.

I love that this place is going strong....great greasey spoon, a representative of the ol' diners of San Francisco. Unfortunately, the restroom is currently out of service. They play a dangerous game.

Every single time I go to Jim's I hope it's not the last time. I love them sooo much as a lil mom n pop diner in the heart of the Mission. & they've been doing their thing for 30 YEARS now. Wowzerrs. Hats off to my friend Kim and her whole family. Let's keep this business alive! They've done well with retaining kitchen staff, which translates to: the flavors haven't changed in all this time. That griddle is magic and the folks back there are shaman with the breakfast. My suggestions. Order just like this if it ticked ya fancy. 2 egg combo with bacon. over easy. Hash browns crispy. When they ask if you want Green salsa and jalapeños? Say Yes please. If they don't offer it off top, ask about it. You're gonna wanna take a bottle home. Ask about it. Lunchtime? Jim's deluxe burger cuz I'm a growing boy n I needs my protein. This one somewhat reminiscent of a Whiz Burger. Onions grilled to perfection. Except, it's on a sesame French roll and has two burger Patties. Mouth-watering Oh yea. Didn't get a picture cuz it was gone before it got a chance. Ooweee.

I've been coming here for years and I love it! It reminds me of an old fashion diner the food is good and services great and I missed that big bowl of jalapeños

Love this place. Like stepping back in time to a civilised society in the middle of madness. The waitress is amazing. Friendly and attentive, managing the whole place like the professional she obviously is. My coffee never got empty or cold. Food was diner fare as advertised.

My family has been dining here since the late 80's. Recently visited and the owner was very warm and welcoming. The food was great as always but I am removing 1 star because of the cost of a meal vs the amount of food. Inflation has definitely taken a toll on this gem of a restaurant. 2 plates of simple breakfast food with 2 fountain drinks cost us almost $50. Insane!

Jim's is a Mission District food institution for breakfast. Decades later the food is still delicious. I enjoyed the pancakes and waffles along with the bacon eggs. If your on a breakfast Mission go to visit Jim's.

Food is delicious and owners are super friendly and down to earth. I've only come here for their breakfast and service is fast and efficient. I usually get eggs, bagel, sausage.

I love going to diner's to get the local feel of the city and Jim's far exceeded any expectations. The service was super friendly and so fast. We ordered the Denver omelet, the big scramble and I had the country breakfast with a waffle instead of pancakes. Everything was so fresh and delicious! We will definitely come back again.

Mold tried to cover up w/ hash browns in delivery. I didn't eat it because I could've died or something

Wi5 so many places still closed during covid 19, I wasn't sure what to try anymore. So the bulgogoi seemed really interesting but then ended up choosing the fried chicken steak. Maybe it's me but I just feel like it's so different than eating dine in. They use paper take out trays so with the sauce and food the paper box gets really moist and soft. They gave a green chili sauce that was really nice in the hash brown. The fried chicken steak was decent. I just feel like it was not really fried. Like it had collected to much moisture from being closed inside the take out box. The presentation was not there, but the food was decent. But would,like to take the time to say thank you for the hard work and staying open.

My favorite early morning-lunch. Wake up early or afternoon they got you covered. This is the spot for Brunch don't miss the old mom pops fast quick good and reasonable.

This place is a gem for great eats! Mrs. Kim is so kind and has great table side manners to boot! I had the steak and eggs and they were cooked to perfection by one of the best cooks around Alberto!! The steak was so juicy and eggs were right on! Thank you Mrs. Kim for a great breakfast experience!!

It doesn't fail...4 attempts to dine in and they post an early closing on the front door. Not posted on their website on what days they are closing early...just whenever they feel like posting a sign. I am done with Jim's.

Love this place! Classic humble friendly diner, full of diverse people, everyone in neighborhood comes here young or old. And the owners are so sweet!

We've been here twice and they are always so delicious and so fast. They give hefty portions for what you pay. The side of fruit is diverse and bountiful. The sausage patties are crisp and juicy. The chicken fried steak is crispy and so savory. We will no doubt be coming back. A great classic diner.

Jim's has been a family favorite for years. They keep the feeling of being at home, one of the few places in the Mission that hasn't changed. The owner is always friendly & checks in on all the regulars. She is also friendly to new customers, she seems to value them well. Foods great, doesn't change & is always what I'm looking for when I go eat my breakfast. Highly recommended!

During a recent visit to the Mission District of San Francisco my husband and I were hard put to find a place for breakfast. Thank God Jim's was open early. Our steak and eggs breakfast was delicious and we felt very comfortable with the Covid restrictions that were in place! I can confidently give this restaurant two thumbs up!

Go here. Get anything. The chicken fired steak and the corned beef hash are my favorites. Everyone out front is so kind and friendly. Ask for the green sauce and put it on everything.

Best country fried steak this side of the Mississippi. Wonderful staff and chill atmosphere. Worth your time to stop in if you find yourself wandering the streets of the Mission with a hankerin' for some breakfast.

Food had no taste, burgers come with no more than a hand full of fries supposedly because of rising prices ( should be put on the menu due to price risings you get limited food ) we complained of course, then you could hear the cook talking about us while we were eating. Don't waste your money here. A-lot other restaurants in the mission to go for then here Wish i would have took a picture you guys would feel my disappointment. DONT GOOO!!!! I only clicked one star because one of the employees honestly apologized and had great customer service other than that i would have only clicked one start to be able to post this!

This was a nice diner to stop in for breakfast. They had marachi type music playing as we ate. The decorations on the walls and in the bathrooms were unique. Simple, cheap, and basic: it was the perfect place for hangover food. Our food came out quickly and we gobbled it up.

I've been curious about this place for ages since I'm hardly ever in the Mission when this place is open. I've passed by it many times, but they close at 3:30PM every day even though they sell Dinner Specials. Who eats Baby Beef Liver with Grilled Onions? Night watchmen just off their graveyard shift? Insomniac prostitutes after a slow night? Bulimic hipsters on a binge? I was just looking for some breakfast last Saturday after taking the car out to go to the post office. I'm amazed at the paucity of options in my immediate neighborhood, so I found myself in the Mission and got giddily excited to find a parking space at 20th and Mission. I was surprised to see how bustling it was at 10AM since I'm so used to seeing it deserted and dark from the outside. It looks and feels like any Roadside Diner, U.S.A., a place you are more likely to find off a highway in the Central Valley than in the heart of hipsterville. But I assume that's part of its lure, the anachronistic presence of a formica-heavy diner with no mention of a burrito, pupusa or organic sushi on the menu. What I did find intriguing is that they offer a Hangtown Fry and other seafood dishes you don't really expect here. The booths were filled with boisterous families, so I secured an empty seat at the far counter without any fuss. The waitresses were buzzing by with purpose. I ordered the $6.75 Big Scramble because I was in the mood for a Joe's Special-type of breakfast. It was serviceable - a solid portion of ground beef mixed with scrambled eggs and bits of sauteed onions and green peppers, accompanied by hashed browns that gratefully looked like they didn't come out of a package (see photo) and of course, two slices of already buttered toast which came with lots of those little berry and mixed fruit jam packages. There was definitely a lot of butter and vegetable oil in everything they make, but that's what you expect anyway. But then again, I found it more digestible than anything I've ordered at Sparky's or Golden Coffee Shop. Staff is friendly but not in a kiss-mah-grits kind of way. FOOD - 3 stars...greasy diner fare satisfies if you're in the mood AMBIANCE - 3 stars...roadside formica in the middle of the Mission SERVICE - 3 stars...friendly but not too much TOTAL - 3 stars...not bad for what it is

Woow, Me and boyfriend just had a very nice breakfast. But most of all we had a very warm friendly service. The server Maria did a excellent job. She was very friendly and helpful. Without her this would've been just regular breakfast experience. So thank you so much Maria.

Wow this is place is amazing. The plate is huge but is Enjoyable great taste is my first time but I want come again.

A diner. It's freaking great. There are no mimosas on the menu. You don't wait in line and you don't instagram the food. The eggs and hash browns and green sauce are also great. So is the bacon. The service is friendly and quick but not precious. Come get breakfast and coffee here with some friends, don't worry about the line, enjoy the comfy leather booths, and an unhurried conversation over ever-refilling mugs of perfectly good coffee.

Very quick turnaround! And pleasant service. Got a Denver omelette with hash browns which were great. French toast with fresh strawberries was nice. They have a face shield up and hand sanitizer available.

Jim's is a complete and utter dive. Torn upholstery in the booths, dim lighting, chipped glasses, comic sans on the menus, the whole nine yards. However, the food isn't half bad. I mean, it's not Mission-trendy, but it knows what it is. The jumbo scramble is quite big and not runny, and the hash browns aren't too crispy. If you know what you're getting into, then you're gonna have a good time.

While exploring the area on a Saturday we decided to eat here for lunch. We ordered two coffees and two waters. Eventually had to remind them about the waters, but the coffees came out fast. They only had one choice of sugar on the table, the ones in the pink packets that we didn't want, so we asked if they had anything else. She brought us 4 packs of another sugar. The coffee was not good; very watered down and bland. I didn't have more than a few sips. I got the chicken sandwich with a house salad instead of fries, which cost extra. He got the steak sandwich with fries. The food came out pretty fast, but was less than impressive. The salad I got was not very fresh but the balsamic dressing was good. The sandwich was pretty basic, I was thankful for the mustard at the table to add some interest. His sandwich was on a roll that was too small and you could probably count on two hands how many fries they gave him. Nothing about the restaurant was memorable, I wouldn't recommend or visit again.

I come here for breakfast all the time and I love it. The staff here are so hardworking and friendly! The homemade green sauce is amazing!

New Owners of Jim' Restaurant are Chinese! That being said, you do not get the "Real Diner Experience!" The food was below average and the serving portions where tiny! Everything tasted "freezer burned!" Coffee was watered down! Even the Ketchup bottles are watered down! The Chinese Lady (Owner) was very curt and unprofessional! Eat at your own risk!

Coming here for brunch one day was like briefly departing SF for a more homely feel. Being inside of this diner restaurant felt both strange and relaxing, because it is no longer the type of place I'm "used to" eating at up here, and yet, it's smack dab in the hot spot on Mission Street. Was a nice, almost secret getaway for us. For my meal, I ordered the Country Breakfast, with the French Toast Substitute, Eggs Sunny Side Up and Bacon. Beverage was an Iced Café Mocha. The entire meal was decent diner flair. I enjoyed it, added Tobasco to my bacon and eggs, syrup to my French Toast, and the gobbles came not from the turkey. It was all it needed to be. Very inexpensive, too. Kind of like a mini Inland Empire spot within The City. Why can't more meals in SF be priced like this? I intend to be back.

this place has been in the neighborhood for years.. came in as a kid with my parents a lot.. now i work in the city and still come here for breakfast..cant go wrong with a denver omellette

My sister and I were in the area and decided to get some breakfast here. The servers were super sweet. Food was on point! Honestly, I was blown away by the quality of food here. Good portion and worth it! Two people, we spend about $40 we ordered a lot of extra sides!!

Boogaloo's had a big ole waiting list. We weren't in the mood for fancy, we just wanted some basic American brekkies like Eggs Benedict. What's that you say, Yelp app? Jim's Restaurant? Two blocks away? Woohoo!! Let's go! The service was good, the plates were just what you'd expect - my girlfriend cleared her benedict so fast, I couldn't get a taste! Jim's is pretty big - bigger than you'd realize from the low-profile storefront. It's your basic diner, vinyl booths, formica tabletops, see-through window to the kitchen. The food's not going to blow your mind, but that's OK, you probably wanted to keep your mind intact, right?

If you are looking for a simple breakfast place with no muss or fuss then this is the place for you. Totally a neighborhood joint with no pretense and friendly servers. Unlike other "greasy spoon diners", the food has never been greasy. Scrambled eggs were fluffy and the hashbrowns were perfect (I order mine extra-crispy because crunchy hashbrowns are best). Never crowded and always comfortable. This is not the place to go to if you want organic shade-grown goat-pooped peruvian coffee, infused champagne mimosas or frangipane croissants. It is the place to go to if you just want a good basic breakfast.
