Jinli Restaurant Review - Chinatown - London - The Infatuation

"Jinli is 30 seconds from Leicester Square and if you’re craving Sichuan food, this is one of the spots to hit in Chinatown. The hot and dry pots, in particular, are perfect for a big group meal, and the whole deep fried sea bass covered in chilli oil is a must order. It’s crispy, it’s moist, and you’ll find yourself mining for more fish amongst the oil, dry chilli, and Sichuan peppercorns. If you’re moving in numbers and more than happy to eat out of the same (hot) pot, this is a good option." - Jake Missing

Loved it. We came early on a Saturday evening (late afternoon) to avoid the busy hour and we were greeted by a very friendly lady. We ordered the boiled fish in hot chilli oil and Szechuan style black fungus (almost like a spicy salad) with some boiled rice. The food appeared relatively quick as we were arrived before the rush hour. And the food was very tasty. The fish was spicy but not extremely spicy. The black fungus salad was tangy and spicy. Highly recommended, if you are in the vicinity.

This is the best sichuan restaurant I’ve ever been in London!!! Really love the atmosphere here, the service is amazing!! People who love the spicy food is really nice to come to here. And also you can choose to sit outside of the restaurant to enjoy the beer in the afternoon. They are offering buy 1 get 1 free before 5pm everyday !!!

The food is super authentic Sichuan — bold, flavourful, and satisfying. Must-try dishes: Dry Pot Cauliflower, Kung Pao Chicken, Stewed Baby Cabbage in Soup, and the XO Seafood Tofu Pot. Everything was packed with flavour and wok-fried perfection. Already booked my next visit. Highly recommend if you're craving proper Sichuan food in London!

What truly elevated the experience was the attentive service and the restaurant's vibrant yet cozy atmosphere. The staff patiently explained dishes to newcomers and even adjusted spice levels without compromising authenticity. By the end, my taste buds were singing (and slightly on fire!), and I left already planning my next visit. For anyone who loves adventurous, mouthwatering food—this place is a must-try. 10/10 would brave the heat again!

The dishes in Jinli is delicious, colorful and more importantly is with authentic flavor from Southwest Sichuan. Myself and my friends loved it. Will go there more often and highly recommended. Jade

We went there with seven people and it was a weird experience. It started that we had the impression the waiters didn’t understand us, never asked. We ordered seven main dishes and drinks for all. We just got two dishes and two drinks. They were just put on the table without any explanation what of the dishes it actually was. 10 minutes later we got another dish. Then 5 minutes later we asked for drinks they forgot. Then 5 minutes later, while the first food was finished or would’ve been cold, we found out that they even forgot to put all the orders in the system. We ordered again two of the same dish, and they came separately, one after 15, one after 25 minutes. Sorry, this was a bad experience. We couldn’t eat or drink as a group and the communication was really not good.
