The 38 Best Restaurants in Seoul, South Korea | Eater

"North Korea’s traditional dish, Pyongyang naengmyeon (often shortened to “Pyongnaeng”) has become one of Seoul’s most beloved cold dishes for its subtle, clear broth and chewy buckwheat noodles. While some classic Pyongnaeng houses have stood for decades, JinMi has proven to be a strong new competitor, thanks to chef Yim Se-Kwon, who has 20 years of experience in some of the most iconic Pyongnaeng restaurants. The restaurant is also great for other classic items like mandoo (dumplings), bulgogi, and jeyuk (boiled pork belly). Must-try dish: JinMi’s eobok-jaengban (North Korean-style beef hotpot) with layers of meat and clear broth is a well-known favorite among Seoul’s bar crowd." - Matty Kim

"According to owner and chef Yim Se-kwon, long time experience in the kitchens of one of the most iconic Pyeongyang cold buckwheat noodle restaurants is the secret to the success of this place. The menu here is what you would expect to see in a typical cold buckwheat noodle restaurant. Other than the noodles, it offers staples such as boiled pork and beef slices, bulgogi, dumplings and Pyeongyang-style beef hot pot." - Michelin Inspector

Meal: Lunch Day Visited: Thursday Budget: W25,000 Closest Station: Gangnam Reservation Needed?: N/A Payment: Cash; Credit Kid Friendly?: Maybe English Menu?: No Wow! A highlight from our trip! Very low-key but super popular! Our cold noodles were simple, but superb! The steamed pork was also delicious! Highly recommended.

This place has a Bib Gourmand rating from Michelin and you quickly learn why! These are the best naengmyeons I have eaten. We took one mul naengmyeon and one bibim naengmyeon and shared— the clear broth was subtle yet bursting with flavors, and the bibim naengmyeon was quite flavorful as well! The total was 30,000 won for 2 of us. Service was extremely fast.

Great Korean cold noodle restaurant 😋 👌 It's very tasty, delicious. Lunch time full of tables sometimes wating on queue but worth it . We will come back for dinner next time with Er-bok-jang-ban.

The restaurant has been listed onto #BlueRibbonSurvey in year 2019, 2020 and 2023, 2024. It has also been listed on Michelin Guide in year 2018, 2020 and continuously to 2024. It was introduced from Wednesday Food Talk (Suyomisikhoe). The owner Chef, S.K Lim has experiences over 24 years and tries the consistent reach taste on his palatable dishes. But, this time, the noodles from the signature dish of cold noodles are a little soggy, whereas the broth tastes superb! • I recommend Bulgogi and Boiled Meat Slices Hot Pot which have abundant beef with vegetables as well as the tasty broth. The unique red pepper sauce for the steamed dumpling is much better harmonious than the usual soy sauce. The staffs are kind and Valet parking is available for comfortable visit.

The noodle itself is good, but the soup is quite disappointing me as its so plain and light. The bibim nyamgmon is good as its source has good taste. The dumpling is huge, the stuffs inside taste good. The boiled pork also tender and juicy. All these for 2 people and cost 50k KRW.

The wonton is so good the wrap is very thin and the stuffing very juicy. The cold noodle the soup is a little bland for my liking but the noodle is very good. Kimchi is very tasty. I’m here at 10.50 on a Saturday morning but the shop already let customers in to sit and at 11 sharp they started taking orders, by 11.20 the place is full

I came here because I heard that this place was a famous Pyongyang cold noodle restaurant, but the cold noodle wasn't taste strong. Instead, there was a hot pot dish with thinly sliced beef called tray that looked like the belly of fish, which was expensive but delicious. The broth was especially good. But the table spacing was narrower than expected in the restaurant. And the parking lot was small, so there was a valet parking staff.

Highly doubting how this shop is on Michelin list 😨 I love cold noodles and tried many variety of it but this is just a meh. Though this maybe Pyongyang style but the soup was almost no taste… Noodles was alright, and with vinegar and mustard, it still tastes bland. No layer or dimension of the taste. Dumpling soup was average. Nothing else to compliment for. With all that mentioned, it does not worth the price of 15k KRW per dish. I can find nicer cold noodles else where below 10k KRW. Quite a waste of time to make a trip to this place since it’s quite out of nowhere. Don’t recommend.
