The 38 Best Restaurants in Seoul, South Korea | Eater

"North Korea’s traditional dish, Pyongyang naengmyeon (often shortened to “Pyongnaeng”) has become one of Seoul’s most beloved cold dishes for its subtle, clear broth and chewy buckwheat noodles. While some classic Pyongnaeng houses have stood for decades, JinMi has proven to be a strong new competitor, thanks to chef Yim Se-Kwon, who has 20 years of experience in some of the most iconic Pyongnaeng restaurants. The restaurant is also great for other classic items like mandoo (dumplings), bulgogi, and jeyuk (boiled pork belly). Must-try dish: JinMi’s eobok-jaengban (North Korean-style beef hotpot) with layers of meat and clear broth is a well-known favorite among Seoul’s bar crowd." - Matty Kim

"According to owner and chef Yim Se-kwon, long time experience in the kitchens of one of the most iconic Pyeongyang cold buckwheat noodle restaurants is the secret to the success of this place. The menu here is what you would expect to see in a typical cold buckwheat noodle restaurant. Other than the noodles, it offers staples such as boiled pork and beef slices, bulgogi, dumplings and Pyeongyang-style beef hot pot." - Michelin Inspector

어복쟁반 is good but their cold noodle is a bit hard to understand. I’d prefer more dense beef broth. Under seasoned and lacks flavour.

It’s been less than two months since the tragic incident here, and to be honest, I hesitated before deciding to come back. But the sweltering summer heat called for something cold and grounding—and when it comes to 평양냉면, 진미평양냉면 still remains one of the very best. The moment I took my first sip of the icy, clean broth, I was reminded of why this place has such a loyal following. The flavors are subtle yet deep—cool, earthy, and refreshing in a way that’s hard to put into words unless you’ve had truly good 평양냉면 before. The noodles have just the right bounce, and together with the broth, they create a balance that’s both comforting and cooling. I also ordered the 만두, which I honestly think is one of the most underrated items here. Each dumpling is generously filled and delicately seasoned, with a soft, almost pillowy texture. It’s the perfect companion to the 냉면—filling, but never heavy. Coming back felt a little emotional, but the food reminded me why this place continues to matter to so many. It’s more than just a restaurant—it’s part of the city’s culinary memory. Still one of my favorites.

Naengmyun was not cold and pork was so so. 어복쟁반 was great though and would definitely come back again to have more!

Meal: Lunch Day Visited: Thursday Budget: W25,000 Closest Station: Gangnam Reservation Needed?: N/A Payment: Cash; Credit Kid Friendly?: Maybe English Menu?: No Wow! A highlight from our trip! Very low-key but super popular! Our cold noodles were simple, but superb! The steamed pork was also delicious! Highly recommended.

One of my favourite noodles is this cold noodle (naengmyun), this place had resaonable portion of noodles and of course you can ask for refill (broth).

The wonton is so good the wrap is very thin and the stuffing very juicy. The cold noodle the soup is a little bland for my liking but the noodle is very good. Kimchi is very tasty. I’m here at 10.50 on a Saturday morning but the shop already let customers in to sit and at 11 sharp they started taking orders, by 11.20 the place is full

This place has a Bib Gourmand rating from Michelin and you quickly learn why! These are the best naengmyeons I have eaten. We took one mul naengmyeon and one bibim naengmyeon and shared— the clear broth was subtle yet bursting with flavors, and the bibim naengmyeon was quite flavorful as well! The total was 30,000 won for 2 of us. Service was extremely fast.

Google
I came here because I heard that this place was a famous Pyongyang cold noodle restaurant, but the cold noodle wasn't taste strong. Instead, there was a hot pot dish with thinly sliced beef called tray that looked like the belly of fish, which was expensive but delicious. The broth was especially good. But the table spacing was narrower than expected in the restaurant. And the parking lot was small, so there was a valet parking staff.
