It's very dark in the deeper dining area, and the font on the menu is minuscule, making the initial food selection a bit difficult for those with poor vision. The music was booming louder than in a club, and we had to ask our waitress to turn it down twice with little change (for context, we just came back from New Orleans that morning and this place made Bourbon street sound like a ghost town!). The service was very good otherwise.
One thing I do like about this place is their versatility. They've got lots of options outside of just ramen such as small plates, mini tacos, and rice bowls. Even their ramen selection is diverse, ranging from the basic tonkotsu or tsukemen ramen to vegan ramen, as well as the ability to create combinations and customizations. Strangely, they ran out of tea early in the evening, which is odd for an "authentic" Japanese restaurant.
I ordered the spicy chicken ramen. The broth was okay - the initial taste was a hard spicy kick but quickly mellowed out after. The chicken itself was super tender and flavorful, however, and the onsen egg was very soft.
The tonkotsu ramen (2001) was good but too salty. Overall, I've had better ramen. I'd come back for the ramen perhaps, but the overall ambiance (poor lighting and failure to turn down the loud music) was a deal-breaker. I mean, the staff couldn't even hear and had to repeat requests to each other!
