The 25 Best Restaurants In Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"Taco joints might be ten a peso in Barcelona, but Jiribilla does things differently. This Catalan chef spiced up his craft in Mexico City, so while the ingredients and many of the recipes are local, they’re prepared with plenty of Mexican flair (by which we mean pungent flavors that whack you in the mouth, right where you want them). Like the salsa macha-laden steak tartare stuffed in a corn tortilla, or the lentils—arguably the humblest of winter casseroles prepared by Catalan octogenarians for their reluctant grandchildren—made here with a base of Mexican carabinero stew full of marinated chili and boiled shrimp heads. This place is like Spain’s Mediterranean coast and a Mexico City street food stall had one too many mezcals one night and the result is Jiribilla." - isabelle kliger

"Here, next to the Sant Antoni market, they say that the “Jiribilla”, a Pacific wind that is common in Mexico, is blowing strongly in Barcelona! After almost two decades in Mexico, Catalan chef Gerard Bellver has returned to his native region to showcase his cooking, which shows evident Mexican influences but with a nod to the cooking of his homeland. His various highly seasoned mole sauces, corn tortitas, and aguachiles, among other dishes, are often accompanied by a Mezcal-based cocktail. Dishes that stood out for us included the red prawn aguachile, with a chilli and jalapeño sauce, and the intensely flavoured crab “tetela”." - Michelin Inspector

One of the best places I ate at in Barcelona. I was greeted promptly on my arrival for lunch. There were only a few other diners, so the restaurant was pretty quiet. The service was excellent & I really appreciated the effort to thoroughly explain the dishes in English, even though I’m sure for most it wasn’t their first language. Everyone was so polite, polished and respectful. The food was incredible. Some standouts were: the soft shell crab taco, green beans and the buñelo dessert (which was recommended by the server and it did not disappoint!) I loved the line up of hot sauces that you could use. I was having fun mixing and matching with the different flavors and finding the perfect one for each dish. I will definitely dine here again next time I’m in town :)

Absolutely great food! As an avid fan of South American cuisine and spice, I really enjoyed the hot sauces. Our server Pau was exceptional, very nice, and knowledgeable.

This place is just amazing. The food is so good, I just can't find the words to describe it. Just blows your mind. And the staff is so professional and friendly - you feel cared for. We had oysters, crab taco, prawns, mussels, catch of the day and pork - all those dishes were amazing and so so tasty. Unbelievable! We had cocktail to start and Corpinnat to continue - also so so good. For dessert try their goat cheese cake - so lovely! Just go and visit

Absolutely incredible meal - as soon as we heard about Jiribilla, we knew we had to go. The service was thoughtful and every bite was delicious. Would absolutely go back.

Google
We had the menu selection, which was a mix—50% delicious, 50% not very nice. The wine, however, was fantastic, which made up for it. They recommended the cow tongue, and it was actually exceptional, but by the time we got it, we were already extremely full. I’d recommend selecting your own dishes from the menu rather than going with the menu selection—just to avoid getting too full!

Google
The food is delicious, the flavours are there and there are quite special. The menu is not big, nor are the dishes, which allows you to try quite a bit of everything. Very recommended. The place is warm and cosy, with nice rustic tables and chairs. Very mexicanish. The service is nice, but they are a bit exhausting sometimes, as they are constantly checking over you if everything is fine. Which is it, until you see the check, that hurts badly, depending on how much you have eaten.

Google
The nice waiters made up for the mediocre food. The selection menu starters were delicious but from there on it became a bit fishy and so so. I wish we would have just gotten the fantastic bottle of Chablis and the starters. The tongue tacos were also nice. Just stay away from the fish and shrimp. Also the carabinera was a regular shrimp...

Jiribilla is a true gem. Belliver’s menu takes you on a culinary journey through Mexico while seamlessly incorporating local Spanish ingredients. I opted for the tasting menu; a seven-course experience that beautifully balanced flavors from both land and sea. The highlight was the seabass taco, perfectly paired with crisp radish for a refreshing bite. With each course, the attentive waitstaff guided us through the story behind the dish, making every bite feel like a discovery. The textures and flavors were nothing short of exceptional. The restaurant’s warm, understated decor adds to its inviting atmosphere, making it a place you’ll want to linger. If I had to find a flaw, it would be the chipped dishes, which slightly broke the illusion of perfection. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s a small detail in an otherwise memorable dining experience. Jiribilla is special, and I’d return in a heartbeat.
