Classic & unique pizzas, fresh burrata pies, Sicilian slices

"This slice shop has serious pizza pedigree. Joe worked at places like Una Pizza Napoletana, while Sal is from the family that ran the now-closed Little Louie’s Pizzeria. But what they’re doing together here is decidedly unique. You’ll find very good examples of grandma slices and burrata pies, as well as more experimental stuff, like a pie that combines the flavors of BBQ chicken and jalapeño poppers. There’s limited seating, and a whole wall of name tag stickers. We don’t know why, but it’s fun." - kenny yang, bryan kim, nikko duren, hannah albertine, matt tervooren
"This antique closet of a space in Crown Heights belies the young age (two or three years) of this pizzeria, but that is because it was once a much older place called Nino’s. Make a beeline for the Sicilian slice, which is thick, square, bready, greasy, and altogether wonderful — a paragon of its type unmatched in the neighborhood (though there’s another branch of Joe & Sal’s in Fort Greene." - Robert Sietsema

"I smiled as I chewed this old-Brooklyn slice: despite changing from Nino’s Pizza to Joe & Sal’s, the picture of a young Michael Jackson and the vintage atmosphere remain, and the Sicilian here is denser and slightly more compact than most, bursting with flavor and featuring a firmer, harder crust that marks it as a hardcore slice." - Robert Sietsema
