This place is absolutely amazing!!! my boyfriend and I came to visit from Vegas and we were here for four days and every day we were here we came to here. Our Airbnb was right down the street which was a bonus, but even if we weren’t that close, we would’ve probably still visited this place because it was amazing the first day we tried them. The service is phenomenal. The drinks are amazing. The the food is absolutely delicious. The vibes in the whole area are just immaculate. They have so many different areas to sit and chill all the way to the back and just wow…they’re great!!! Can’t say it enough. We are coming back to visit and we will for sure be back here.

Solid little dive-style bar. It’s dim lit, mostly standing room, with affordable sandwiches and cans of beer or seltzer. Definitely a fun little spot with some good food and inexpensive drinks!

Joey Roses is tucked away in the basement of a building, small spot, but full of personality. The sandwiches are okay, kind of like what you’d grab at a bodega. The meat itself is good, but the bread is a lot of bread. We tried the Eastie and the PB&J. That said, the vibe makes up for it. Worth checking out more for the vibe than the food.

Joey Roses was great! It doesn’t look like much from the street, but that’s how you know it’s gonna be good. It’s basically a super cool dive bar with amazing food! Staff was super friendly. I got the Eastie and the brussel sprouts. Both were amazing! It’s a cool environment that I would come back and enjoy a drink in the evening. Definitely coming back.

As a longtime NYC resident, there are only a handful of times I’ve felt legitimately scammed at food establishments, and ordering from Joey Roses was one of them. I ordered a reasonably priced sandwich (no complaints there), but when they asked if I wanted a “side of coleslaw,” I said yes, expecting a normal deli portion. Instead, they handed me a 2oz condiment cup and charged $5 for it. Coleslaw isn’t caviar. It’s cabbage and mayo. Charging $5 for two bites is not just overpriced, it’s predatory. At this price point they are charging ~$40/lb for mediocre coleslaw. It’s an extremely poor practice to take advantage of customers in this way, and it guarantees I won’t be back. Plenty of delis in this city that respect their customers more. Update: $5 for 4oz?! aka $20 a pound for cabbage and mayo? That’s steakhouse filet mignon territory. Still a scam, and tells me they know exactly what they're doing.

I absolutely adore this place. I’ve been here a few times now and the food always fantastic, reasonably priced, and all their bread is baked in house daily. The bartenders are super friendly and really give this place a great vibe too. It’s gonna be hard to not pop in everytime I’m in the LES. Tip: Get a sandwich with brussel sprouts; The Babe is my personal fav.

Great sandwiches, great draft beer and a great selection of music. Stella was the best bartender I met on my trip to New York. Helped me get into some comedy shows, and made sure I got my belongings back when I’d left them in the bar one night - and great music when she’s working!

Great sandwiches in a relaxed dive-y atmosphere. A Full bar complements a curated menu of unique sandwiches. I had "The Dad" and it was great. My friend had "The Freak"... And we'll.. it was freaky. Highly recommend a stop.

Ordered: The Local (~$10): turkey, roast beef, white American cheese, tomatoes, sweet onions, sweet peppers, mayo, salt, pepper, oregano Potato Chips (~$1.50): Regular Lay's Aya's take: I'm genuinely shocked at the reviews considered how below average our experience was. Starting off, the bread was way too thick and not soft enough for this sandwich. Secondly, the ingredients shown above were exactly what was written on their menu. Yet my sandwich didn't have tomatoes or sweet onions. It wasn't satisfying at all, in my opinion. It's a cool vibe in here but considering they also call themselves a "sandwich shoppe", I had higher expectations. I personally wouldn't come back.

Absolutely killer sandwiches. Brussels sprouts really stood out to us. Crispy and delicious. If you haven't enjoyed a sandwich from this dive bar looking establishment you are missing out. Super cute interior. We'll be back!! Thanks for having us.

Delicious sandwich! I got the Eastie, and it was great- had a generous portion of prosciutto and salami, and the bread was really soft. The price is also very good for the area, 10$ for the size and quality of this sandwich is hard to beat. The only downside is the wait, it was 30 minutes for a single sandwich. I didn't come at a busy time either.

All they have are sandwiches and the sandwiches are incredible. My hero had thinly sliced , house made turkey with cole slaw, Russian dressing and potato chips. My husband's sandwich had turkey, ham, and Brussels sprouts. It worked well. The bartender was a young woman who was friendly and fun. The ambiance, think cool dive bar.

Came by here on a Saturday late afternoon to try some of the interesting sandwiches on the menu. Small interior downstairs where there are plenty of empty seats at the bar. Ordered the Eastie ($10) as well as a draft beer ($7?) while waiting for the food to show up. The sandwich is a semi-packed layering of prosciutto, salami, cheese, peppers, and oil dressing. A classic Italian combo and an easy bite. The bread is tougher than expected, softened by the oil inside. Also got to try the Fat Kid ($10), which is your basic pb&j but with potato chips. This wasn't as good, as the tough bread was made tougher with the peanut butter. Bartender is friendly, and the TV is playing some classic movies behind the bar. Reasonable spot for something different from normal bar food.

Great sandwiches, great vibes. My husband and I ordered sandwiches from here for our flight home to LA, and walked to pick them up. I was expecting to find a generic sandwich shop, not a stylish dive bar with immaculate vintage decor. Even their outdoor sidewalk seating setup is painted to look like a graffiti-adorned subway train car. I arrived and waited in the bar area, 20 minutes longer than my estimated time. I regretted not getting a drink; they had appealing beer+shot specials. I got "The Fat Kid", a decadent triple decker PB&J with crushed potato chips within. The bread was flavorful and fresh, and I loved the combination of flavors and textures. However, it needed about twice as much peanut butter. My husband got "The Dad", which includes mortadella, Genoa salami, ham, provolone, Asiago, tomato, and hot cherry peppers. Both were tasty, and traveled well.

This is the best hero in this town. Had a the tuna and then the veggie. Incredible. Great hang too!

Some of you already know who I am from the infamous tattoos or winning best comment on taste buds twice. Yelp took down my last review because they didn't understand the inside joke all of us Rosebuds have with eachother. So now I have to make this one PG: I drive an hour and a half over and over again to keep coming back here. This is my #1 favorite spot to just hang out and vibe, drink, and get top notch amazing quality sandwiches with fresh ingredients for an insanely low price. The character this place has both inside and out, with the building and the people and staff themselves, is the epitome of New York. It keeps the culture close to the heart. If you stay long enough, you might just get to see a pig walking around.

Really fun place. Great drinks, awesome sandwiches. My only complaint is they allowed some guy with a laptop, and microphones to set up at the bar and livestream himself playing D&G. It's a small bar to begin with and this guy was taking up three spots and also talking mad shit to anyone who walked in. Kind of obnoxious.

Popped into this place having no idea what I was about to encounter. Stepped up to the bar ordered a sandwich and had a birthday shot with the bartender and it was awesome. Stop in say Laurie sent me. Can't wait to go back. Sorry no pictures of the sandwich the bread was so good and the it was stacked with tummy goodness just didn't stop to take a picture.

I went here this afternoon with my parents and we loved it! The staff were so friendly and engaging and treated us so well, the drinks were great and most importantly the food was delicious. The vibe in there is also really cool too. The bartender Rachel was so nice for taking this pic for my mum and I in front of the sign and making sure we all had everything we wanted. We chatted with the Chef as well and everyone was just so nice and welcoming. I've been a fan of Joe De Rosa for so long and was so excited to visit Joey Roses and it did not disappoint!! Definitely recommend if you're ever in New York!

Probably the best sandwich I've had since moving to NYC. Went here for a great deal and when I tell you these hit the spot...ended up going back the very next day for more. Service was fairly quick as well. LES gem.

This place is a lot of fun! For those of you out there that don't know, this bar is owned by comedian and recurring Better Call Saul co-star Joe DeRosa aka Joey Roses. Joe is also a host on the We'll See You in Hell podcast - a show about horror, sci-fi, and fantasy movies. I am a big fan of WSYIH and came to Joey Roses for one of their live shows back in September. Let's start with the sandwiches - they are all $8 and damn tasty. I got the beefie (roast beef) and my lady got the PB&J. They are made with quality and extremely filing for the price. The bar itself is a throwback to the old gangster movie social clubs from the 70s. In fact, the neon sign outside is a homage to Michael Mann's Thief. The drinks are strong and not overly priced. Joey Roses is about a four block walk from Kat'z Deli. I don't find myself in this neighborhood often but I will come here any day over Kat'z. There's just something about paying $16 for two sandwiches with a bar vs long lines and paying as much as you would for a new iPhone at lunch that turns me off. Folks!

I flew to NY for 1 day from Florida JUST because I'm a fan of taste Buds and had to try this place out! That being said, my review of the place is not bias. I genuinely enjoyed eating lunch here! My 30th birthday wish was to get a sandwich and drink from Joe's sandwich shop, so my wife and I flew out for 24 hours to check a few sites out and get lunch here. When I came in, the woman at the bar was very nice to my wife and I. She offered us a drink while we read the sandwich menu. we each got a different sandwich, and split them in half, so we cold each get a taste of multiple sandwiches while we were there. The food was made fresh, the staff was great, and the atmosphere of this little shop was awesome. Very cool look, and it gave a very laid back, chill vibe. If you haven't stopped y, you should go check it out. If I can stop here all the way from Orlando, you can defiantly stop in for a great sandwich that wont break the bank. Wow. Honestly one of the best sandwiches I've had. The bread is perfect. The meat is delicious. The price is pretty decent, especially for NYC. I got "The Dad" for $10 and had a drink at the bar while I waited for my sandwich. The bartender is a super cool chick and we chatted for a bit. From the outside (and also the inside) it looks like a dive bar, but absolutely come here to get a sandwich. You can get it to-go, or eat at the bar. I'm adding this place to my list of NYC favorites.

If you're a joe deRosa fan and love great Sammie's this is the spot. I've been to so many great sandwich's shops and nothing compares to Joey roses. 10/10

I absolutely love this place and their sandwich specials. Great vibes, good food, and a bar with nice drink specials. Sitting in the rose room is nice, and Joe did a really honorable service putting his family history on the walls. Plus its cool they film their awesome podcasts there! I got to meet Joe Derosa, the owner and epic comedian, on my first visit, when he was actively helping build their whiskey winnebago street seater by hand. He was amazing. So down to earth and appreciative of the genuine compliment about his place. Great guy! Everyone who likes great sandwiches and booze should be here eight days a week.

Saw the good reviews. Looked forward to the sandwiches. Will not come back. Very basic sandwich I can make at home, nothing special about it. Took like 10-15 minutes to make.

The sandwiches are great. Great bread, solid options, and good construction with everything in the right proportions. Also, they seem to be one of the few places that aren't trying to gouge you with $18 sandwich prices. A few years ago I would've thought that $10 a sandwich was crazy expensive, but today, this place feels like a deal.

*VERY LATE REVIEW* I went on a solo trip to NYC end of February of this year. Needless to say, I made it a point to come here and get a hoagie. I went in on a Tuesday afternoon. It was dead, save for one customer. For me, it was the perfect setting. The environment inside felt casual, didnt disappoint. Bartenders on staff were very friendly, very chill. I sat at the bar, food came out quick, had me a beer and a hoagie that was bussin bussin. I honestly can't remember what it was called though. Sue me, I went almost 5 months ago. I don't have savant photographic memory. But had to drop in and leave a review for a phenomenal small business. I recommend it to all my friends that plan to visit NYC, and I'll definitely make a trip to Joey Rose's again when I find myself traveling again.

Joey Rose's is a real hidden gem, so much so that i was hesistant to write a review because i wanna keep it a secret. But i also want this place to do well. So here i am...giving it away on the good ole yelp. First off, the decor. it's 60s. it's 70's. it's retro. its your Nonna's basement. its your crazy uncle's bar. its dark, its seductive. it's fun. its welcoming. theres even a free star wars arcade game. dont wanna sit at the bar? theres some lounge areas in the back with cool lights, mirrors, and curtains. don't worry, no plastic on the furniture here. theres 2 private bathrooms, with..get this..a black glitter floor. love it! also, for super creep factor or great bathroom selfies, look up. mirror ceilings for all your poop selfie needs. okay so, the staff is fun. theyre your friend, not your server. everyone is super chill, the vibes arent pretentious. DeRosa himself is here, although you will only know if youre a stand up fan like myself, he didnt just walk around and say whats up i own the damn place. but non the less, he seems like a chill guy, and i like that he was at the bar with everyone. shows the passion for the place. he invited us back for New Years eve party - i hope that was a blast, i couldnt make it. the prices are phenomneal. you cant find these prices anywhere in the city anymore. im talkin $4 draft beer, craft beer! and $6 mixed drinks. im sure theres heavier priced drinks, but they seem to run a good game with the specials. we were greeted with some free whiskey shots - I LOVE FREE. onto the good stuff, the sandwhiches! priced at $8, i hit a full food coma wall after having mine. i dont eat meat so theres only 2 options for me. the slim kid/tuna sandwhich is a must get. the tuna is fresh, has a hint of onions, the pickles are a nice touch, and i love the deli sliced provolone. the real star of the show? im glad you asked. the bread. the housemade bread shipped all the way from the stand. this kinda food is perfect for a heavy night of drinking, and its filling. last note, the price. $8 for a huge sandwhich. cant beat that! my date and i split the pb & J sandwhich and thats my only complaint here. this one just didnt land well at all. i really love the idea and think this could work with a few changes. i think it needs more potatoe chips, and i dont think this is the correct bread for it. the double decker is a nice touch, but this kinda loaf overpowers the chips, pb&J. maybe opt out of the double decker or add more chips. actually, yes add more chips no matter what! maybe switch out chips for bananas? hmm? maybe im just a hater, but i hope this one can evolve because i think it could be a good hit. my date had some meat heavy italian sandwhich and he took it down in one bite. he loved every bite of it. didnt even come up for air. oh hell yeah, ill be back.

8 dollar medium to large sized Italian sandwiches that will fill you up with perfectly sliced meats and cheeses and with the bread cooked onsite everyday. It's the best deal in NYC and the the best sandwich's I've had If you're not into sandwich's come here for the bar! So, you walk down two steps and enter a time capsule. The first site you'll see is a real cozy bar with happy bartenders. A full bar btw ! Then you'll walk past that and you enter the 80s with a arcade game and a little kook with a Cassatte table.. When you get the back you will be greeted with comfy 70s again and with pics of the owners parents wedding pics ! Trust me. It works without being pretentious. It's still a great laid back place but hip. It's a place anyone would feel comfortable thanks to the staff Perfect date place. Perfect place to just have a drink and a sandwich. Dog friendly btw ! They loved my Bonnie here ! Thanks guys !

Worth the trip! I travelled to NYC from Chicago just to be able to say I had a Joey Roses sandwich and the experience did NOT disappoint! I ordered the Fat Kid (a triple decker PBnJ with potato chips in it) and The Dad (a mortadella lover's dream) *chef's kiss! Chill atmosphere, unique decor, fast and friendly service, fresh and flavorful ingredients, and- oh my Gawd- the bread! It's that magical bread that sets everything heads and tails above any other sandwich I've ever had! Truly scrumptious! I hope Joey Roses withstands the test of time and becomes a beloved neighborhood hang! Go, Joe, GO!

I normally don't leave reviews, in fact this is the first one i've ever made. But this place always takes care of me, great sandwiches, great price point, consistent quality. A true hidden gem.

What a hidden gem ! Hard to give 5 stars to any place nowadays but this place is an easy 5 stars! Super friendly staff- clean and trendy place - and most importantly; extremely fresh sandwiches. Chef Dave told me he makes the bread himself, and the roast beef was going for like 30 hours. Wow. Just wow. I debated even yelping this one because I'm scared it's going to turn into the next 2 hour line spot, amongst the many of LES!

This is a cool dive bar vibe kind of retro shop that's making the rounds on social media for the $8 sandwiches. We got to Joey Roses right at noon when they opened, there was one other person sitting at the bar, and we still waited about 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches to get made. Apparently they only have 1 person in the kitchen working, so get there the second they open or you could be waiting over 45 minutes. We tried the Babe and the Eastie. I recommend both, especially the Babe. The looks may not be so appealing, but trust me, this somewhat small sandwich gets the job done. You can taste every ingredient in the sandwich, and nothing is overpowering. The finely chopped crispy Brussels add a uniqueness to this sandwich. The Eastie is a classic Italian combo of cold cuts, cheese, olive oil, and peppers. I'd definitely come back here, especially in this environment where prices of food are out of control.

Went in with my girlfriend excited to try these sandwiches. When my girlfriend asked about seating the woman behind the bar was extremely rude to the point of just being plain mean trying to make her feel stupid. Ordered a sandwich, when this guy comes out from the back freaking out that no changes can be made to his sandwiches, that they are "art." I never asked for changes, just ordered as is. Sandwich was good, small and really just the bread was above average. Left feeling embarrassed and crappy. It has the ambience of any dive bar with some laserdiscs screwed to the wall. Never again.

We were so excited to finally visit comedian Joe DeRosa's new dive bar / sandwich shoppe after hearing so much about it on Joe's podcast with Sal from Impractical Jokers. They make their bread fresh every day, have unique sandwich options, and offer cool vibes. There's an RV out front with open seating, as well as seats at the bar inside, or the back round booth inside as well. The inside is small, but with dark lighting, the edginess of a dive bar, and fun music, you'll enjoy sliding into a seat and ordering a cold one. We walked here from Little Italy, which was about a 15 minute walk, as this shop is more located in a (cool) residential area, aka not touristy, which we enjoyed. We ordered a round of beers and will be back for sandwiches next time we're in town.

This place is a a lower east side GEM! Totally under the radar. Idk how this place hasn't blown up yet. Delicious sandwiches and a bar. Bartender is great BTW. Literally any time of day you can get a yummy Italian sandwich. I've also been here for my last stop of the night with a group of friends; someone in the group wants a bite while another person wants one more drink. Its a vintage bar inside. Screw jersey mikes, go to Joey Rosas sandwich shop get a martini and mortadella !

Stopped in here to try a sandwich after hearing so much about it on Joe Derosa's podcasts. I ordered the Eastie ($8) and I was shocked at how good it was. The light touch of olive oil, the sharpness of the Asiago, the softness of the fresh baked bread, and the pickled sweetness from the peppadews really makes this one of the best Italian subs I've ever had. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

Add Joey Roses to the list of reasons why I should have never left LES. Met a friend for weeknight happy hour. Solid crowd of regulars, bar area not too packed, cute private seating area in the back. Draft beers flowing and sandwiches slinging. $4 PBRs and $8 sandwiches are a tough happy hour combo to beat. We ordered The 'Ami, The Dad, and The Beefie. All of them were fantastic but for me, the horseradish mayo on The Beefie just took it to the next level. The Dad was a close 2nd but really, you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches. Will definitely be back again and again.

I can't say enough good things about this sandwich shop! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The menu offers a fantastic variety of sandwiches to choose from, and every option I've tried has been an absolute delight. First time getting sick from eating in the lower east side. Ordered "The Columbo", only $13 for a first-class ticket to diarrhea planet. I should've walked out upon being drowned by the tacky ambiance, but I wanted to give the place a chance; I wish I had listened to my intuition.

Short Version: Designed to be an instant classic, Joey Roses serves the best sandwich in its weight class, while showing its potential as the perfect local watering hole. Long Version: Food - The sandwich jungle of NYC is packed with killers, and Joey Roses might have the pound-for-pound best sandwich I have ever had. Roses' menu is a lean showing of 8 sandwiches, all cold, served with chips for an extra buck. The sandwiches themselves range from Italian deli classics to oddities like the triple-decker PB&J. The sandwiches are all incredibly unique, over a foot long, and obviously designed to get you hooked for repeat visits to experience them all. This is not a new model, as sandwich institutions like the Milano Markets or the countless Jewish delis champion choice as their calling card. What sets JRs apart is that these sandwiches have one of the best breads I have ever tasted, a uniquely chewy and fluffy mouthfeel that reminds me of heavily semolina'd pizza crusts. Even further than the bread, these sandwiches are only 8 bucks a pop. This is unheard of for a manhattan eatery. While a Milano Market sandwich might have a nicer balsamic vinaigrette with imported meats, getting two sandwiches and a beer at Roses for the same price is an unquestionably better experience. 9/10. Drinks - The restaurant is still in its opening phase, but it is clear that the space has ambitions to turn itself into a backyard bar for the community. Its current fleet of cheap drinks, cold beers, and solid prices will ensure it will succeed in that space. 8/10 Dining Space - Tight, bright, and confusingly cool. The interior space is decked with green neon, comfy red couches, and a generous standing room. in the entry area. Designed with two main spaces, the front was made for casually eating sandwiches and chatting it up with the bartender. The back area has larger tables for groups. Connecting these two spaces is a mirrored hallway where they've placed tables and chairs for solo eaters. I ate at one of these spaces, and while it was a little awkward staring at my crotch in the mirror while eating at a plastic picnic table, this hit me more as a temporary solution for the packed grand opening event. I'd be crazy to not mention the clash of geek chic furnishings (complete with Star Wars arcade cabinet) with the 80s-90s hip hop soundtrack. As an unapologetically Gen Z inspired space, it is beaming with a unique personal character. Many restaurants fail to establish an identity, but those in the area that do (Xi'an Famous Foods, Brooklyn Dumpling, etc.) solidify themselves from their less than inspired peers. 9/10. Service - Despite being a grand opening day, the service was running on a fairly consistent clip. The bartender/main server was attentive and on point. The owner himself was taking orders, and it is obvious that he cares greatly for his work. You can tell there is a lot of attention, passion, and thought placed into the execution of Roses on its grand opening. 8/10 In a sentence: Joey Roses is the powerful combination of an effortlessly cool space and creative and well priced sandwiches, well helmed by a guy who yells about food for a living. 4.5/5

Great sandwiches, drinks, and ambiance lol. Great prices too. Subway is charging almost 15 bucks for a classic stinky footlong. There's are half the price and double the flavor. Great stuff guys!

This place has a great vibe. Had "The Babe" and it was fantastic. Bread was fresh, hot honey was very tasty, and it paired well with a $4 pint of PBR. To set the mood, the playlist was bangin' tunes and they had South Park on TV. The bartender was friendly and helpful, overall a fantastic experience and I will try to venture back.

I had an overnight layover in NYC tonight and went to Joey Roses. Never been to NYC before, and literally the only thing I was able to do was go to this sandwich shop. Let me tell you, not a disappointment. Got the Eastie and an Old Fashion, and it really hit the spot. Check it out when you get the chance

I got the jimmy. It was delicious! I'm not a big meat-person but this was a great sandwich! I was obsessed with the pickled brussel sprouts. The bar is really cool inside! Great music! I wanted to Shazam every song lol it was old school hip hop

The subs were great and delicious, I personally got the babe special and my peeps got others that I can't remember but this was my first time in there all the way from MD and the only thing that sucked was the cashier/bartender. She had an attitude and I don't understand why, even to other people who came in and asked what kind of beers they had she said " what? You can't see behind me?" A simple "oh right here "would've been like a better response, there was no need for tude. But if I come to NY again I will definitely come back and try a different one , and the bartender/cashier has a better attitude or isn't there that day.

This place was a solid find near LES. Great sandwiches and solid drinks. I feel like the drink selection could be a bit better, but they have the basics. The classic deli sandwiches are the draw here. Looks like they are improving their outside seating. I would recommend.
