"After drinks in the neighborhood, the reviewer stopped into a downtown pizzeria for a vodka slice ($5.25) and an ice-cold drink to cut through mid-July humidity. On a quiet Monday night with just a handful of people bent over tall stainless-steel counters and an open kitchen, the vodka slice caught the eye: dotted with moon-shaped globs of melted fior di latte, with the vodka sauce well-portioned so “enough of the flavor [came] through without it feeling too wet.” A light but still puffy crust held everything together, keeping the slice foldable until the last bite; the diner notes regret at not ordering another. — Rebecca Roland, editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest" - Nadia Chaudhury
"The defining characteristic of the slices at Jonny’s, a neon Lower East Side pizzeria open well after midnight on weekends, is lightness. Pick up your paper plate too fast, and there’s a chance you’ll fling your $4.50 plain slice across the slice shop. This pizza is as thin as a folded napkin, and when it’s hot out of the oven, the crust crunches between your teeth. But while Jonny's pies excel in texture, they lack in flavor. Slices are a touch undersauced, and that tomato sauce doesn’t have a ton of poppy brightness to begin with. The pizza also doesn't go hard enough in the gooey cheese department. Still, Jonny's is worth a visit if you go out or live in the area. Your tastebuds aren’t that perceptive at 3am, anyway. Food Rundown Cheese For a light, crunchy slice, their standard cheese is more than satisfying. It lives on the expensive end of the slice spectrum, but after you’ve spent a fortune drinking tequila sodas around the corner, $4.50 won’t seem so bad. photo credit: Jonny's Pizza Vodka Pepperoni Go for a vodka slice. The sauce has more sweetness than Jonny's standard tomato version, and they use little cups of punchy, curly pepperoni. Sprinkle on some chili flakes and you're good to go. photo credit: Jonny's Pizza" - Will Hartman
"Hours: Fridays and Saturdays until 3:30 a.m.; Thursdays until 2 a.m. This new-wave slice shop landed on the Lower East Side with late-night hours. The menu itself sticks to classics: pepperoni, vodka, and plain slice. Though obviously, the real best late-night slice recommendation is whatever is cheapest and closest to wherever you are in your night." - Emma Orlow
