"Josh Marcus is the namesake behind this Surfside deli. Nestled on a busy street and flanked by tables out on the sidewalk, the interior—albeit small—is quaint and laid-back, featuring a counter with views of the open kitchen. The compact menu is a veritable tome of interesting and original takes on deli classics. Meat and fish are cured in house, but make no mistake, the team doesn't take themselves too seriously. Jewban is a playful, Jewish-inspired version of the Cuban; and starters, like latkes, arrive topped with spicy tuna and sriracha-cream cheese. From there, expect a few platters, pancakes done in various ways and meat-focused sandwiches—corned beef, anyone?Service can be a bit hit or miss but with food this good, nobody minds." - Michelin Inspector
"Josh’s Deli has many qualities we seek out when a hangover has us feeling like a cruise ship ran over our forehead: bagels, dim lighting, a low noise level, and cocktails that are there if you need them. Any sandwich at this Surfside spot is going to help inflate your spirit like an air mattress, but their pastrami sandwich is so good that it might just have you making eye-contact with strangers by 3pm." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"We really like this little Surfside deli. Josh’s has great things like spicy tuna latkes and an excellent pastrami sandwich, but they make some tasty bagels too. You can just get it simply with some cream cheese or (and this is the smarter move) order one with a cured salmon platter. The bagels are simple but really good, and will definitely satisfy any and all bagel cravings you’ve been having lately." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea, virginia otazo
"Josh’s Deli is a small Surfside breakfast spot that’s perfect for starting the day with thick slices of challah french toast and giant sandwiches loaded with pastrami and roast pork like an overpacker’s suitcase. The golden challah and seeded rye for the french toast and sandwiches are made in house. They also make great bagels, which you can order with salmon lox and cream cheese. It’s pretty casual in here, so it’s perfect for fueling up before a long beach day, or a lazy breakfast during lunch hours if you woke up late." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

Food Rundown French Toast A morning that involves Josh’s fried challah french toast topped with berries is a morning worth journaling about. The berries are an added charge but we can’t think of a better way to spend that hard earned $2.25. But if you want a more thrilling latke experience, get the ones with spicy tuna. Jewbanize “Is Miami the capital of fraud?” is a question as loaded as this magnificent pastrami and roast pork sandwich served on housemade rye. But at least with this sandwich, you don’t have to worry about getting your identity stolen. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino OMG No sandwich is a wrong choice here, and that includes the OMG. The housemade rye is spread with aioli and the sandwich comes with enough sliced turkey to use as pages for your memoir, which should have a chapter on this great sandwich. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino" - Mariana Trabanino
