"I found that a popular Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas, Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina, which operates two locations in Las Vegas and one in Henderson, was penalized after the U.S. Department of Labor determined it denied overtime to more than 30 workers; the department recovered more than $475,000 in back wages and liquidated damages from owner Juan Vazquez, saying he failed to pay overtime for hours worked over 40 in a workweek and wrongly exempted two employees. Wage and Hour Division district director Gene Ramos said, "Our investigators found Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina deliberately withheld overtime pay earned by dozens of hard-working employees." Vazquez told Fox 5 that he believes he did not deliberately deny overtime payments and said, "We just did not know we were out of compliance," and the employer agreed to correct its record-keeping practices as a result of the probe." - Janna Karel

"Ready for its first lunch service, Henderson can enjoy the latest dining import to Water Street, starting today. Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina has expanded from its Spring Valley base, keeping the same opening hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and closing at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. At 5,500 square feet, the space is larger than the original restaurant, with room for 224 guests inside, and out on the patio. Featuring a stand-alone bar and dedicated section for private events, fifteen video gaming machines have been installed in the bar top. Close to the intersection with Victory Road and next door the Lovelady Brewing Company taproom, the main dining room can be opened up to Water Street through rising garage doors that access the patio. Diners can opt for booth seating and standard tables and chairs, surrounded by many wall mounted TVs in the dining area, over the bar and even the restrooms.
