Out of all the chinease places I've eaten, this has to be the best. I've traveled to China and this seems to be the most authentic yet. The service was great. They were making the wonton in chili oil dumplings next to us and the server said that was their most popular item. We ordered them and we were not disappointed. We also ordered the steamed dumplings and they were amazing. Other ordered included sesame chicken and spicy shrimp fried rice. The plumb wine is so delicious. I cant wait to come back again. They even packed my left overs for me

Google
This place came highly recommended so me and some friends decided to give them a try. This is definitely my new spot for real Chinese food. The wonton in chili oil, steamed dumpling and scallion pancakes were delightfully delicious. The smoked tea duck was nice and crispy without being overbearingly fatty. Give this place a try if you're looking for something different instead of traditional Chinese takeout.

Google
Judy's never disappoints! Sure, you might have to wait for a table, but that's just extra time to build up an appetite for some grandma-level culinary magic. This family-owned gem serves up pork dumplings and fried rice so good, they make other meals feel like they're just trying too hard. Seriously, it's like your taste buds are getting a warm, delicious hug from Nana herself!

Google
Perfect place for getting amazing food! This is my favorite place to eat. If you’re a lover of spicy food and lamb, their Dry braised lamb is perfect for you. And if you want authentic Chinese food, this is also the go to. My husband if from China and introduced me to this place. His favorite is the pork belly here. We have recommended this place to pretty much all of our friends, and even some strangers. You won’t be disappointed.

Google
We came here with a party of 12. They wanted to sit us at a table for 10 and squeeze two more chairs in. When asked if we could go into the private room we were told no it’s only for 20 or more people. It was a Monday night around 5:45pm. It wasn’t like you had customers beating down the doors to get in. We also asked if we could sit up by the doors where they have tables we could have pushed together. Again, we were told no. So, instead they just let a party of 12 walk out and miss out on $300+. Not to worry though as another business was able to seat us and gladly took our money.

Google
Judy’s is the best Chinese food you will ever have in Virginia, and I stand on that! It is worth every dollar and is my weekly takeout because of this, and the only place I trust to show to family or friends coming into town because they always deliver and have a wife range of options. I myself am vegetarian, and can honestly say the chili braised tofu is mouth watering and my favorite vice. The steamed veggie dumplings are my staple every order as well and I can’t praise them enough, or the pot stickers (which everyone in my life endorses)! You will never regret eating in or getting takeout but be warned they can get busy because they live up to the hype.

Google
Food was great! We ordered two appetizers, the steamed wonton with chili oil and steamed vegetable dumplings. The wontons were super good and could easily be shared with three people. The dumplings could have use salt internally, but paired with the dumpling sauce boosted the flavor without the need for salt. The entree we orders was twice cooked pork that was absolutely delicious and quite perfect. We will gladly come here again for not only the food was great, but the customer service was astounding!

Google
Ordered the sweet and sour chicken for our kids, amongst other dishes. Too bad my kids don’t like dry, overcooked, tiny morsels of chicken (if I’d even call it that), otherwise this would have been great. This place used to be one of our favorites, but they have changed over the past year or so. Actual prices don’t match the menu. The quality and quantity of food has dramatically declined. Not worth the price. Could get better dishes elsewhere for cheaper. We won’t be returning.

Yelp
Our favorite Chinese restaurant - we have been loyal since 2019! Favorite and can't go wrong food items: scallion pancakes, Braised tofu, Salt and pepper fish, honey glazed chicken, Dan Dan noodles, fried rice, lo mein, and egg drop soup.

Yelp
We enjoyed authentic Sichuan spicy food here and were so impressed that we returned. The service was excellent-pleasant and efficient. It was subtle and quiet. We ordered several traditional Sichuan dishes: 4*Steamed chicken with chili oil (口水鸡): Very good-tender chicken in a flavorful, spicy sauce. 3*Tossed clear noodles with chili oil (川北凉粉): Not spicy as expected, with a hint of sweetness. 5*Mapo Tofu (麻婆豆腐): Excellent-rich, spicy, and a clear favorite at our table. 4*Fish fillets with tofu, chili, and pepper (麻辣豆花鱼): Generous portion and satisfying heat. 4*Chinese cabbage with mushrooms (香菇莱心): A healthy and tasty alternative. Overall, the restaurant delivers bold, authentic Sichuan flavors with great service-worth coming back for.

Yelp
This is my first time at this location in Chesapeake, i been to the one in VA Beach couple times, but it's been a while. The inside is nice, clean and pretty much a lot of tables. The food is so so had Eggplant in Yu-shiang sauce, but look spicy and oily but its not even spicy its one of the better ones. The vegetable lo mein is like pasta noodles so that is a sweet flavor which I don't think it is that good. The string beans/green beans not that crunchy that much its soft. the waitress is only one that was serving later on another came to serve for 9 tables in our party Salted & Peppered Prawns I didn't try, Steak with Broccoli was ok If I ever come back that way on that side of town I would get other food for take out that I want to try.

Yelp
Ordered takeout for my daughter and me and we were disappointed by the food. For a Schezuan restaurant, the food was bland.

Noelle A.

Yelp
Stopped in for a team lunch (10 people) and was quickly sat at a large table with a really cool lazy Susan that is used to drop off food / drinks and pass around. The lunch menu covers the appetite of most for a Chinese lunch and the prices were reasonable coming in at $12 - $16 including a spring roll or soup. The food was good - nothing out of the ordinary or being star studded. I did find it odd that everyone's meal came out at different times so literally some people waited 10 mins from the time they got their meal to the time the last meal was received at the table. Three stars for the just being basic (and while I love basic), I do appreciate eating when my meal is warm and when all the parties have gotten their food.

Yelp
After trying several Chinese restaurants around the area and being disappointed, I asked friends for a recommendation. They said Judy's is the best in the area, so we gave it a try. They were right! I haven't had really good Chinese food in so long. I was really excited to see they had xiao long bao on the menu! It was delicious and flavorful, and I loved them. Nowhere else around here has them. I'll absolutely be back!

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place. I have now eaten at both this and the original Virginia Beach location. They both have the same super delicious food. I like vegetable dishes and it's usually minimal selections on a menu. This place gives me so many different options! Four of us shared 3 dishes, and fried rice, family style, and had enough for leftovers for us to bring home.

Yelp
I know, I know, I usually brag about how good the Hot and Sour Soup is here. Well guess what, I'm going to do it again. Judy's Sichuan Cuisine has the best Hot and Sour Soup in the area. Okay, now that that is out of my system I'll continue with my review... did I mention the Hot and Sour Soup? Just kidding... Judy's has some really great food. We were recently here with a rather large group of our friends and we got to use the big round table with the Lazy Susan. It is great for sharing dishes. My friends really like spicy food, well most of them like it and Judy's kitchen staff knows how to step up the heat, if you ask them. We all had a great experience here and I'm already planning my next visit.

Yelp
Was here for work. Went for lunch and dinner. Both times were great! The soup dumplings were good. The twice cooked pork belly was fantastic and the steak in chili oil was amazing. The food had so much flavor! Definitely recommend for dinner as the portions are pretty decent.

Yelp
Great, clean spot for some hangover curing food. The dining room is spacious and there are tables for large parties and a few booths. Service was very fast and friendly, although our server did look alarmed at the amount of food two small girls ordered. We got soup dumplings (9/10), scallion pancake (10/10), wontons in chili oil (10/10) and fried rice noodles with steak (8/10-personal preference, my GF loved it). Hot tea was loose leaf brewed and delicious as well. We will be back.

Yelp
Dan Dan noodles! Very good Asian food for the area. The Dan Dan noodles are a must try if you like spicy. Beautiful interior to the restaurant and fast pick up for take out orders.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Judy's and let me tell you how AMAZING my food was. I ordered shrimp fried rice, vegetable lo- mein and general tso's chicken. EVERYTHING was fresh and jammed packed with flavor. I loved that the General Tso's chicken had a kick to it, the lo-mein was perfect and they weren't stingy with the shrimp in the fried rice. I would definitely recommend this place and I'll be back possibly tomorrow !! The service was great as well !

Yelp
I've eaten at Judy's in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. Both are excellent. The food is the best Chinese food in the area and the ambience at both is amazing. Highly recommend eating family style. Some of my favorite dishes were the scallion pancakes, Dan Dan Noodles, and Fried Rice. It's hard to find good fried rice around here! My husband loved the dry braised lamb - he loves very spicy foods and that dish fit the bill.

Tracy T. S.

Yelp
Great restaurant. Good food. Decent service. I've had the general Taos chicken with white rice, and really was not impressed. What I LOVE though, is the fried lamb, with white rice, and the scallion pancakes. They could do some work on the sauce, but the pancake itself is really good. Decor is nice. It seems to be the "go to" for family Chinese dining. As well it should be. I recommend, highly suggest you go during lunch, for more cost effective options.

Yelp
I've been here plenty of times. When I want authentic Chinese food, Judy's is one of my go to's. The service is great and the only time I needed to call on them was when I needed a refill of rice. Cause what is life without rice? This time around we got village chicken which is my favorite, braised eggplant in bean paste, lettuce wraps, and twice cooked pork belly. I noticed today how clean this restaurant is after visiting the bathroom and looking at the carpet floor. Not many Chinese restaurants are this clean.

Yelp
I went here to dine alone and they were able to sit me down within minutes of coming in. There isn't a sign in the front to whether you sit yourself or wait but a woman made eye contact across the room and greeted me and walked me to my table. I've been craving soup dumplings and I heard this place had it so I ordered that plus shrimp fried rice. That wasn't on the menu or at least it's not an option on the menu but they were able to make it. Ambiance was wonderful. Not overly crowded and loud which was nice.

Yelp
What a disappointing end to what had been a great number of visits to the Chesapeake location over the years. In addition to making this our annual New Years dinner spot, we had been frequenting the establishment at least monthly for lunch or dinner. I called for a 5:30 reservation for 4 and was told that it wasn't needed, just walk in. We arrived and were seated within minutes. Our order was taken within 10 minutes of arrival and included soup, 2 appetizers, and 4 entrees. The first to arrive was the cold pickled vegetables, followed by the hot and sour soup. Our lettuce wrap appetizer hadn't yet arrived, but they brought my entree. Then they filled my daughter's sprite with water and failed to bring a fresh sprite. Our waitress passed by multiple times without checking on us and avoided eye contact. I had to verbally get her attention and explained that my entree arrived 10 minutes ago and we're still waiting on our appetizer. Then inquired about my daughter's drink. Rather than apologize, the waitress became defensive and then verbally aggressive, making poor excuses and ultimately stating that they're busy, so deal with it. And you'll get your food in the order that it's made, when it's made. 30 minutes went by (from my entree being delivered) before our appetizer came out. My kids entrees followed shortly after, but lot my wife's meal. Her tofu dish with a side of white rice still wasn't out an hour after my entree was served. Meanwhile, tables that came after us were seated and eating their meals. Plenty of "to go" and "take out" orders were constantly being brought out, but not our food. One of the kitchen wait staff actually tried to clean our table and box up our meals only to nonchalantly blow it off when we said we're still waiting on an entree. I honestly feel like they intentionally delayed our order after I respectfully made an inquiry into our meal order and that entrees shouldn't come before appetizers. No one, to include the owner checked on us during our meal. A visit that ended up taking 2 hours. No discount, no apology, no acknowledgement, nothing. We didn't even get a friendly look as we departed, what I did get was a cold, emotionless expression and they hurried around me. I was certainly expecting something after my entree went back to the kitchen (untouched) for boxing at the end of the meal. 2 hours later and I'm still blown away by her demeanor and lack of professionalism. I honestly felt like this was a "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit" lesson from her and the owner. What a disappointment. I'll look for a restaurant that values my business and the traditional order or food brought out to the table and the timeliness of things brought together.

Yelp
Excellent! I Love Judy's ! Get the Sichuan pickles ! As a vegetarian I am so impressed with the selection. The service is great the restaurant is clean .

Blues J.

Yelp
Not sure what happened to this place because it used to be good food and service but the food and service has really gone down hill. The duck was dry with bone fragments in each bite so be careful if you order the duck. The ribs tasted as if they were boiled (not fried) and tossed in a flavorless sauce. They were dry with bone fragments in each bite as well. The scallion pancake tasted like the oil they fried it in hadn't been changed in a while and there was no onion flavor. We did not eat either dish and the owner came over to clear our full plates and never asked about our meal. We're not going back.

Yelp
Judy knows what's up!!!! Went here for a casual weekend lunch with a couple of friends. There was plenty of parking available & the restaurant was nice and spacious with lots of seating so we didn't have to wait long at all. I loved that there were smaller tables for smaller groups but also bigger tables with Lazy Susan's - perfect for sharing good food with good company! Big pro: this restaurant does NOT skimp on the portion sizes. Between the three of us, we ordered xiao long bao (a MUST), two mains, and two side dishes. Each dish was delicious and packed with flavor! Our waitress was very attentive and checked with us often and by the end of the meal, we were stuffed but still had food to take home to go! 10/10 recommend this place!

Yelp
The food is fantastic and the portions are shareable. The service is spot on. Checks on you but allows you to have time to enjoy your meal.

Yelp
My new takeout spot is Judy's Sichuan Cuisine. My ultimate favorite appetizer is the wonton in hot chili oil. It's delicious and an experience! You must be okay with hot and spicy for this one. Next, my main dish is Kung Pao shrimp is exquisite, yum. It comes with rice. Staff are nice and helpful. The place is organized and clean. I have never sat down in their dining area since I just do take out. But people eating in usually look happy and smiling! If you're looking for interesting Asian cuisine come here. There's soooo much to discover on this menu!

Yelp
Having been to the sister location in VA Beach one day, my daughter and I were craving soup dumplings. We were so excited to find a Sichuan restaurant in Chesapeake, which is much closer to home. We were there soon after the doors opened so it was still quiet. Service was fast and attentive and our food came out piping hot. Lunch was delicious all around and the soup dumplings are worth waiting for. I only wish that I could have a never ending supply of scallion pancakes! Hurry to Judy's; you won't be disappointed in any way. Also, the ambiance is hushed and peaceful, perfectly paired with a cup of hot tea and your future on a little slip of paper.

Hal M.

Yelp
This is my go to place whenever I am in Chesapeake. My wife and I live their atmosphere and it is far from your typical Chinese restaurant. The dishes are varied from seafood, pork, chicken, vegetarian and beef. I love the beef and cabbage in hot chili Oh man! Many portions are enough for two people. My wife has tried several chicken dishes and loves them all. Service is quick and attentive. You gotta try the Steamed pot stickers for appetizer. Definitely will be returning over and over again!

Yelp

Yelp
*Review based on a to go order* I was actually headed toward Tapioca Go in search of some bubble teas. When I parked, I noticed that Judy's Sichuan Cuisine (JSC) was at the end of the strip! Score! They have been on my hit list since we moved back. The strange thing is, I had been craving Mapo Tofu these last few days for reals, so call it lucky, coincidence, whatever, but just crave and the universe will deliver! Upon entry, one of the staff members came to the front to greet me and showed me the menu. Obvi, I knew what I wanted, but took a peek anyway and lo and behold, Mapo Tofu was on the Lunch Specials. Done deal! They had some interesting items, so I took pics of the menu for you and I to research later (so you're welcome). I placed my order and headed to Tapioca Go to place my order there. Then I left TG to check on my order at JSC and it was ready when I came back. - Noms - Mapo Tofu Lunch special - it comes with a choice of soup (Wonton/Hot & Sour) and choice of rice (fried or steamed). I opted for Hot and Sour and steamed rice. Hot & Sour Soup - it was the perfect consistency with lots of mushrooms and bamboo shoots. I would have preferred slightly more egg personally, but great reall tasty and great intro to the meal. Mapo Tofu (spicy) - I am used to having ground pork in Mapo Tofu, but this one seemed to be strictly vegetarian. No biggie, just different and the tofu is the star of this dish and tofu was really what I was craving anyway. It also seemed to have black bean sauce in it and it's cooked with large chunks of leeks. Overall, nice heat level and the dish hit the spot. Everything was packed nicely and they included things like fried wonton chips which were light and crispy and seemed freshly fried, fortune cookie and some chopsticks and napkins. So happy to knock two places at once. I'm excited to try more things on the menu! Stay safe, Friends!

Yelp
Judy's is the only authentic Sichuan restaurant in the 757. I have eaten at multiple Sichuan restaurants in new york city, including those on the Michelin guide, and Judy's rivals all of them. This place truly stands out in the area. My favorites are: Dan Dan noodles, kung pao chicken, diced crispy chicken with chilies, and pork wonton in chili oil.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Hampton Roads area. I love the authentic dishes, friendly staff and family style dining. We have been going here for over five years and my kids love trying a new dish every time we go as well as some of our favorites. My son has a soy/nut allergy and they are always so accommodating to ensure the dishes we order are safe for him to eat.

Mercy Q.

Yelp
Ambiance, customer service and food selection as well as taste is highly recommended!

Nikia B.

Yelp
It took a while to be acknowledged upon entry, I had to ask to be seated. There was a miscommunication with my order and I got the wrong thing, I kept it and ate it. however the issue was when I came in I was asked if I wanted to sit in a separate section of the restaurant which was dark and unoccupied. mind you there were plenty of seats in the main dining area. When I asked another worker about the area she stated it was for large parties. The waitress was short with me and I did not feel welcomed especially after being seated. This restaurant caters to a particular ethnicity, from my experience. This is after observing several interactions and the environment.

Yelp
I've been to Judy's VA Beach a few times, but tried the Chesapeake location for the first time this weekend. It was absolutely phenomenal! The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and welcoming, the service was quick, and most importantly, the food was incredible. Our favorite dish was the fish and tofu in chili oil - it is an absolute must try! I would recommend Judy's to anyone craving Sichuan Chinese. Come with a group and order family style to try as many dishes as you can! Side note - we started eating before taking the pictures, but rest assured the portions are very generous.

Yelp
When I walked in, the lady behind the counter looked at me but didn't say anything. I awkwardly asked if I sat myself. She said no, grabbed a menu, and seated me. She immediately asked what I wanted to drink, but when I had to look at the menu, she seemed annoyed. The menu didn't say whether the main dish included rice, noodles, or anything, I didn't really want to ask. I ordered General Tso's, it was ok. It was dry, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit. I waited a good 10 minutes before asking for my check. I was really looking forward to a great experience, but was sad.
google avatar

Divya K.

Yelp
I was kind of shocked by our experience. We stopped here on during a large family road trip without any expectations and I was surprised by how good every dish was. It was peak American Chinese food in my opinion. The fried rice was super yummy as was the seafood dish. Really nothing we ordered was amiss. The service was efficient and the tables made sharing really easy. I loved the flavors :) Thank you for the great family memory!

Yelp
For years, my girlfriend and I went to Judy's in Virginia Beach and always enjoyed their dishes. Sometimes it was with friends, sometimes just the two of us. We decided to stop by their location in Chesapeake which was opened up years ago and was close to a company I worked for before leaving last August for another job. Would this hold up to the original spot? Once we walked in, I couldn't help but notice that the interior looked exactly the same as the Virginia Beach location, but a little smaller. There's hand sanitizer on the counter once you enter and instead of the usual big menus, they guve out the takeout menus. Completely understandable. And each staff member have face masks on. A huge plus in my book. Now onto the food. For apps, we order pork wontons in hot chili oil. Truly, truly delicious. They may appear hot as heck, but it'a mild on the tongue. And the pork inside was cooked perfectly. A nice start to our meals. For my entree, I picked Kun-Pao Chicken (my girlfriend ordered sesame chicken). Very good. The only slight issue I had with mine was I didn't expect whole peanuts (I prefer peanuts broken up), but overall it was a good dish. The chili peppers included in the dish really added a spice level, although not overpowering. But I would order again. A very nice time out for dining in. We will be back here again soon.

Terri B.

Yelp
The food is really fresh doesn't taste frozen or precooked. They have a great variety of food and wonderful service.
google avatar

Juan G.

Yelp
The server was a pleasure but the kitchens timing was a bit off. I ordered the general Tso's chicken and the house fried rice. The general Tso's chicken was brought out immediately but the fried rice was brought out probably 10-15 minutes after the chicken plate. The food was a bit under seasoned. Also worthy to note that at most Chinese restaurants they have chili oil, sriracha, garlic chili sauce, and soy sauce readily available at the table. I was a bit disappointed that at this restaurant they were not readily available.

Lisa P.

Yelp
I asked if I could add tofu for an up charge to the vegetable dish and was told no. So I ordered lo mein. My lo mein contained very little vegetables. My husband got the ribs and he enjoyed them. We waited over 30 minutes for our meal to be served. Pass on the scallion bread. Tiny, greasy, and tasteless. We won't be back. Waitress seemed to be having a bad evening.

Yelp
Lunch with a friend on Tuesday around noon. What could go wrong? Lovely server--prompt, polite, and best of all, no interruptions while my friend and I were catching up and laughing. And she was discreet about removing plates and pouring more tea. My friend was completely oblivious about it all and we found it brilliant. Nothing ruins a good lunch with friends when the server interrupts multiple times during a good conversation. The food on the other hand was not something to write home about. Very dry and overcooked General Tso's chicken and equally flavorless fried rice. Given how great the overall experience of dining here was, it was really unfortunate and disappointing. Perhaps I'll try ordering something more traditional rather than so American the next time but still. I'll be willing to come back again only if I am in the vicinity.
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
The mapo tofu was so disappointing. It is my absolute favorite and it was not the luscious umami dish that I had in other places. The beef and onions was good. I made the mistake of saying beef and peppers and was scolded over the phone for saying the wrong dish. The eggplant was mid. Not impressed.

Yelp
Best Chinese food I've had in Hampton roads- a must to try! Authentic flavor-able and fresh and not heavy nor greasy.

Yelp
Always delicious, full of flavor, a pleasant service. I recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Sichuan cuisine.

Yelp
Love this place and often get the mapo tofu lunch special with their delicious hot and sour soup! I just tried their Steak in Hot Chili Oil dish for dinner (unfortunately not a lunch special) on the suggestion of the waitress. Wow! It was fantastic! I loved that it had lots of Chinese cabbage and some celery. Was delicious and would definitely order again. Their fish filet in hot chili oil is also excellent (and a lunch special).

Yelp
I was debating whether to eat here or another Asian place nearby. This place had about 7 cars parked outside and the other place had zero cars so I figured this place must be good!! 100% accurate!! I'm not a big eater so just ordered the pork dumplings (8) and spicy friend chicken wings. The wings were BOMB!! Best wings I've had in a while!! It was so tasty and not too spicy. Although I didn't try the jalapeño topping. I was previously warned that the prep time for the wings is 15 which gave me a good expectation of wait time. So I ate the pork dumplings while I waited. The customer service was courteous. I watched them interact with customers and they're very kid friendly. The restaurant was very clean. I would 10/10 recommend this place.

Yelp
I'm updating my review because I have a new favorite dish at Judy's... The dan dan noodles are superb! I'll be ordering them from now on. Spicy and salty and the bok choy is a nice contrast. My husband LOVED his twice cooked pork.

Yelp
Happy Lunar New Year! We had to have a celebration and the best way to start off the New Year was hot pot. No hot pot place in the 757 area is more authentic and matches the szechuan flavors of Judy's. For AYCE it's around $32 but for kids younger than 10 it's $18. It can be worth it if you are a hot pot lover like myself. Our waitress served us well.. we stayed patient as she kept returning to change the gas can to our hot pot burner because the flame would give out. But we asked for lamb and other meats and seafood and veggies everything comes in big batches. We were accommodated well. The lunch menu was another option we opted to have for some kiddos with lunch specials ranging from $9.95-$10.95. The food is freshly prepared and never dissappointing.

Yelp
Look here, Judy's always delivers. Period. Some of my favorites are the scallion pancake, the Dan Dan noodles, The Hot and Numbing Fish, and the soup dumplings. The service is always fast and literally everything has always been delicious. I can't wait to come back my mouth is watering as I think about it.

Yelp
I have no idea how the food is here because nobody working here would acknowledge us. We had planned to dine in but every person working here looked at us and did not acknowledge us, we stood there for 5 minutes then gave up.

Yelp
Love this place!!! I go every chance I get. Super friendly and helpful service. I haven't ordered anything I didn't enjoy. The wontons in chili oil are amazing!
