19 Great Places To Eat Something Kind Of Healthy

"Being healthy is just as much a state of mind as anything, and while hammering down a plate of fries and thinking the word “health” over and over probably won’t cut it, going to Onsen will definitely help get you in the right headspace. Aside from this Japanese place making some great food that’s also pretty healthy, like lamb skewers, mushroom dumplings, and poke, it’s also partially a bathhouse. So if the food isn’t doing it, you can treat a trip here as a spa day too." - taylor abrams, will kamensky

Google
My first experience at Kabuki. I always heard good things about this spa. From the ladies who greeted me, the spa attendent to the atmosphere and then a beautiful massage from Damian. All the little details amazing, I fell asleep a few times during the massage, totally relaxed. Thank you to Mau as well who came by to say Hi and make sure i knew where everything was.

Google
A must when in San Francisco. I was a little bit intimidated at first by the idea of others not wearing swimsuits, but everyone there was extremely respectful and I felt very comfortable. The facility is absolutely wonderful and pristine. Staff is attentive and caring. The hot pools and cold plunge are phenomenal experiences. The steam room is absolutely divine!!! Nothing in the world feels better than stepping out of the hot steam room and following it with cold, crisp citrus water. I went to my hotel after and took a restful nap. My mom came with me and got a massage, which was lovely according to her.

Had a lovely experience here on a Friday, which was females only, with one of my friends. The staff was very kind and accommodating; they squeezed this in without a reservation. Much needed after the day of travel I had, it was so relaxing. Kabuki provided an intimate environment with diverse options for different needs. From the cold water plunge bath to the hot tubs, the dry sauna, cold sauna, and showers that really heat up nicely, it was a lovely experience.

Google
Kabuki Springs & Spa is my all-time favorite spa in San Francisco and an absolute must-visit in the Bay Area. If you're looking for total relaxation—where you can unplug, unwind, and let time slow down—this is the place. The hot spring baths, wet and dry saunas, and exceptional massages create an unparalleled experience, especially for the price. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this oasis of tranquility is worth every moment.

I traveled over two hours from Sacramento into San Francisco to use a gift card I received for a massage at this spa, excited for a relaxing day and to enjoy the full range of amenities like the sauna and spa areas. Unfortunately, my experience was dampened by a lack of communication during booking and a disappointing interaction with the front desk. While I was being helped by the lovely staff member assisting with the Bliss Private Bath, I learned that the spa amenities are only available to women on certain days due to gender-specific scheduling. Had I been told this when I booked my massage, I absolutely would have chosen a different day to visit. After traveling such a long distance, it was frustrating to find out — only once I was already there — that I wouldn’t be able to access the full experience. When I mentioned this to the front desk afterward, the staff member looked at me as though I should have already known. There was no apology, no concern, and no recognition of how this might affect a first-time guest. I suggested that they ask customers during booking whether they've visited before so that important information like this can be shared proactively, but the staff member seemed surprised I’d even expect that level of service. To be fair, my massage therapist was absolutely wonderful — skilled, professional, and calming. The woman assisting with the Bliss Bath was also kind and helpful. They made me feel welcomed and cared for, and I really appreciated that part of the experience. It’s unfortunate that poor communication and an unhelpful attitude at the front desk left a negative impression. With better booking practices and more thoughtful customer service, this could have been a truly great visit.

Google
The massage services are awesome, but if you just come for the soaking/sauna/steam/cold plunge, you are in for a treat. My only complaint is that the steam room is never steamy enough anymore. The last three times I went I was disappointed, I hope they will get it more steamy, then it would be perfect!

Google
Kabuki springs and spa has does a great job. It’s a warm, inviting space. Despite tickets being sold out, it was not too crowded. There’s a sauna, steam room, cold pool, warm pool. The lemon water drinks stand near the pools was a lovely touch.

Yelp
I went to Kabuki for the first time after waiting years to use a gift certificate from a student's family. Hot tip: get your teachers a spa gift certificate! Anyway, I had Norma for the essential facial and she was so thorough and really thoughtful about what kind of skin I had and which products would be best. She was friendly, calming, informative. I added the bath on there for an extra $20 which is totally worth it. I will say, I kept thinking in my head if I was doing it right, as someone who hasn't been to the spa in years but everyone was helpful and friendly. I came away feeling like a smooth, lighter and very relaxed version of myself which let's be honest, is hard to do these days. The no phones, no talking, dim lighting really help create a tranquil atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
I mistakenly confused this spa with another one I've been to in Japantown. I have to say wow! There were so many sticky surfaces like the insides of doors when you open them. The place isn't being cleaned well in that way. I got the $230 massage because that's the only service that was available for next day. It said it was 80 minutes massage. I got about 55 minutes of massage and then was out into a private bath. The massage was mostly rubbing in large motions with the oils, and very little of the massage was what I would consider a real massage. I felt that it was a rip off.

Yelp
This place is fabulous! I went mainly because there is a no-talking policy in the communal bathing area. A couple machismo dudes were laughing and talking to each other in a kind of whispering tone, and it was annoying the hell out of me. An employee who kindly reminded them that the area is a no talking zone. OMG!! Thank you immensely to that employee because hearing talking or laughing was the last thing I wanted to hear. The bath house had a hot tub, a cold tub, regular showers with curtains, sit down showers without curtains, steam room, and sauna. They have ample areas for water, a good amount of lounge chairs, and plenty cute little dishes with sea salt for a scrub. The place was super clean including the locker and bathroom areas. Notably I saw someone sampling the water for testing and assumed they regularly monitor the water quality which is really reassuring. The front desk and the personalities were calm, respectful, friendly, and exciting all at the same time :) Thank you for my experience here, especially to the person who told the people whispering/laughing to keep it a zone of silence ‍

Yelp
In the heart of Japantown, this spa creates an escape from the bustle of daily life. I went on a Friday which is women-only. There's a dry sauna, steam room (which includes salt for scrubbing), cold plunge, and a hot pool... there's a guide on the site that lists a step-by-step process for bathing in case you're new to this type of experience. You get a robe, locker, slippers, and towels, so you don't have to worry about bringing anything (unless you're going on a co-ed day and need a swimsuit). I did the 50-min Grounding Foot Treatment for $175 plus tip. My therapist was late but they of course extended the session to make up for it. The foot scrub and massage came with a warm mud pack to heat the back, but I will say it's not worth the high price. The vibe is very relaxing, and everyone respected the rules which I appreciate. I would definitely come back for a day pass and spend more time there lost in my thoughts. Oh, it seems to get very busy throughout the day, so keep that in mind.

Yelp
Solid 4 stars for my experience here! I only came here for the women's communal spa day on Sunday. Parking: there is a parking lot right around the corner. Price is pretty reasonable, I think it was $3/hour after 3pm. Check in process was fairly easy. For some reason I thought inputting my information online meant I already paid, but I guess it was just a hold. I had to complete the payment in person. We were given a full tour of the place and where to grab slippers, the locker room, towels, and the process. You can either come in bathing suite or fully unclothed. You do have to shower first before you should go into the rooms or pools. The steps: 1. Dry sauna or steam room 2. Cold plunge 3. Hot tub 4. Repeat The only strange thing was that the large shower towels were all the way in the front - this should be swapped with the small ones inside. It was kind of confusing bc you need a bigger towel to dry off at the end? Inside the communal area they had plenty of spa water, ginger tea. They even had bath salt for scrubs. Overall, I had a really fun experience! I would totally come here again. PS: Your electronic devices have to be 100% off when you enter. They make sure you turn it off in front of them.

Yelp
Stopped by for a Sunday night Shiatsu Massage with Communal Bath. This was a perfect spa day for me. I feel much more relaxed, with my stress melted away physically and mentally. The facilities are clean and staff are skilled and respectful. Communal bath area (women only day) was very calm and peaceful, quiet place to relax and unwind after a long week. Lots of space and not crowded or loud like other spas. Shower options were classic with nice hair and body products to use. The hot pool, steam room, and sauna were all comfortably hot without being overbearing. The cold pool really shocks you at first, but if you sit in there for a good minute it's very worth it in between heating up. There's also ample water and tea to rehydrate from all the sweating. I stayed for an hour to loosen up before my massage but will for sure stay longer next time around. I had the Shiatsu with Hiroko. Perfect amount of pressure in a quiet room with soft ambient music playing. She asked what spots I would like to focus on, and added good pressure and took time in those areas during the service. I could feel my tension releasing throughout the massage, and nearly fell asleep by the end of it. Super worth it!

Yelp
I love this place! I have zero complaints and one request...er, um suggestion? Clothing Optional Co-ed day? Once a week or maybe twice per month? Archemedies has been making it happen every day for like 12 years now. I get that Kabuki is doing good as far as filling the place up but maybe that would make it a good time to try something different ? The idea is nude not lude. My theory is boardshorts are for boarding. Swim trunks are for swimming, I've never seen sauna/steam room/hot soak/cold plunge shorts. That means none should be necessary. Towels work fine for modesty and as a seat cover. I promise I will come a lot more often if I could be free! What do you think?
google avatar

Zach S.

Yelp
Overall, Kabuki is a great place to relax for a few hours. They have dry hot sauna, a steam room, cold plunge, and hot tub. It's great to spend a few cycles here then do dinner nearby in Japantown. My only complaint is that they should do a better job of enforcing the quiet policy. Kabuki has gotten busier over the last few years, and it's louder than I remember.

Yelp
This was my first visit. My appointment was for Saturday, male communal bath for $49 for 2 1/2 hours. The process was straightforward. You make your appointment online & then check-in/pay in person then they give you the keys to your locker. I was a little lost at first, but the staff were more than happy to direct me to the proper area. It included a steamroom, sauna, individual bathing & shower area, a large hot pool, & cold plunge. There's also another room near the communal bath with free mouthwash, shampoo, body lotion, & facial cleanser. There's free tea & water dispensers. There's also free towels & sandals that you return after you're done, so no need to bring your own. Overall, it was a relaxing & soothing atmosphere.

Yelp
Imagine wandering into an oasis in the heart of the metropolis, where the air hums quietly with the soothing sounds of ambient music. At this sanctuary, the mingling scents of herbal teas and aromatic oils form a tapestry of tranquility. I found myself melting into the warmth of a hot pool, the temperature an exquisite balance--not too scalding but just enough to ease the knots of daily hustle. Between dips in the contrasting cold pool, which startled the senses delightfully back to life, I sipped on replenishing herbal brews. The skilled hands of my masseuse crafted a symphony of pressures and motions that seemed to dance away the week's burdens. In a city that never pauses, this hidden gem truly slows down time.

Yelp
I come here every time I'm in the city. The baths are so nice and relaxing. I've had massages here as my service -- pretty standard. I do love that they give you your massage oil after your visit. I love to come with my girlfriends and make a day of it.

Yelp
Asha was very pleasant and friendly when I came in on a rainy Sunday! I was offered some tea while i waited for my appointment since I was early. Art completed my 80-minute CBD massage and it was absolutely AMAZING! The achy parts of my body were addressed and i felt so relaxed! Pressure was checked on, i get hot easily so they turned the heat off, fan was offered. The noises i heard last visit were less noticeable but I think it's just the city and no way around it. They did their best with cancelling out the noise! I can't wait to come back next month and to hopefully bring my bf!

Yelp
Awesome place to relax and rejuvenate after walking around touring the city. As soon as you walk in the door you can smell the good energy. The whole place smells really good and clean. The staff were very helpful.

Yelp
Best place in SF for a relaxing spa day. All the services are great and it is super clean and well maintained.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
PRO: baths are amazing. It's truly a little piece of heaven in SF. CON: I've had two services at different times and they were both terrible. The massage was done by a therapist who after I was laying on the table, told me the massage would be done with plastic gloves due to painful psoriasis on her hands--I felt badly about her condition, and extremely awkward because, I can tell you, a massage with gloves (think the kind a person working at the deli counter would wear) is not the experience you pay this kind of money for... it was terrible. Had to stop the service and Kabuki, rightfully, did not charge me. The second service was a facial where the woman spent most the entire service restocking her shelves, and at one point left me on the table for 10 minutes. The massage part of the service was rushed and thoughtful. She explained nothing about the service--it was completely disappointing and at that price point, felt like a complete rip-off. (Right after, I sat in the baths, and saw that she was also using the spa... I couldn't help but imagine she rushed to enjoy her own experience.) Anyway--shame on having such poor quality servicing in a place that could be absolutely incredible.

Yelp
I decided to go to a spa for my birthday and after looking at the different options in SF, opted for Kabuki. Making a reservation for our party of 3 was easy online, and I also joined the Kabuki Club which got me double points for our visit today. While I've been to one other (russian) spa before, I'll walk through my experience a bit since some of my questions weren't answered on the website or in the reviews here. Parking: We parked in the Japantown Center Garage which is a short walk to the spa. Don't forget to bring your ticket with you as they will validate. The person who checked us in was lovely and after learning it was our first time, she walked us through the facility and let us know how visits usually went. As a plus size girl, she also gave me larger towels which was greatly appreciated. I wasn't sure about sandals and on the drive over I panicked because I didn't want to get what I had on wet, but they have shower sandals to borrow and most folks wore them inside the spa area. I noticed a few folks brought their own water shoes. A few times I walked around barefoot and I was worried about slipping but that wasn't an issue. There is infused water, hot tea, sea salt (for the sauna or shower) and cold washcloths available in the spa area, which was great and we heavily utilized. We arrived during the first slot of the day (12 - 2:30) and there were about a dozen of us upon arrival and by the time we left, maybe 30 folks? I noticed as we were walking out that there was a sign on the door that they were fully booked for the day, so I'd recommend making an appointment if you plan to come (no charge is made at the time of booking). We stayed for about 2 hours (3 -4 rotations) and felt very relaxed and refreshed afterwards. I'll definitely return.

Yelp
Tranquil Asian spa but for westerners. Been to Korean spas in Asia and they're quite loud with people chatting and don't enforce a code of silence like here, other then that there's nowhere more relaxing to spend a morning or afternoon to decompress. Nice amenities, clean. Would recommend .

L L.

Yelp
I only came in for a massage appointment, not the spa, but it was the best massage of my life. Thank you, Maxine!

Helen H.

Yelp
Had a Shiatsu massage from Carlos - which was great! Strong pressure which helped with tension in my shoulders and back. Carlos was friendly and explained the massage. Would recommend him for a massage. The communal baths were relaxing and quiet. I went on a Friday which was women's day. The steam room, sauna and pools were all excellent. The hot pool could have been hotter but it was fine. I waited for a lounge chair as there aren't many so that was relaxing. I would only go on a women's day as it seemed everyone was comfortable whether wearing a swimsuit or not. It was a relaxing afternoon at Kabuki and I really enjoyed it. My only suggestion would be to have some free simple snacks - nuts, chocolates, fruit. I've used to having those at the spa and it makes for a even more luxurious retreat.

Yelp
Kabuki is an oasis in SF! Anytime life gets a bit overwhelming, I head over to Kabuki for a restart. It is gorgeous inside and the perfect environment to relieve some stress. I've only done the communal baths on women only nights for $45 and while it seems a bit expensive at first, it's definitely worth it. 2 and half hours is plenty of time as well. It is meant to be a very quiet environment and I really appreciate the staff's attentiveness to this. I recommend going alone instead of with friends to really maximize the purpose of the experience!

Yelp
Communal baths were fantastic. I have always tried to achieve some form of rest and relaxation through my home gym sauna, but nothing could have prepared me for the luxury of having this experience. They have everything you might need, from the cucumber water & hot tea to the bath products to the exfoliating salts. It was a challenge to dip in and out of the cold plunge at first, but quickly became fun and I probably went back in 6 or 7 times by the end. I only managed maybe 2 minutes max before my body began shivering and I hopped into the steam room or hot tub. If you have the time, I highly recommend staying for the full 2.5 hours and experiencing a bit of everything. Going nude during the males only day was a new experience, but it quickly became normal and really heightened the feeling of relaxation. S/n I may be biased from the 5mg gummy.

Yelp
Visited Kabuki during my time in San Francisco. PROS: -Wendy was a great masseuse. Had my first Shiatsu massage and it was exactly what I needed. -Staff is all very friendly and helpful. -Great water pressure in showers. -Some updates very nice. CONS: -Hot tub was neither hot nor bubbly. Basically flat warm water, which doesn't help with a "soak". I see many complain about the heat. They aren't wrong. -Sauna wasn't that hot either. -Why are some parts of the premises updated and others thrown to the side? Sink area - beautiful. Toilets - dilapidated. Locker area - cramped and very old. -Lockers were cramped and the two people who arrived right before me and I were placed in 3 consecutive lockers.

Yelp
I feel truly pampered after spending a couple of hours at Kabuki, and especially after an incredible revitalizing lift facial by Norma. It happened to be my birthday, so I was given a discount and a small bottle of Kabuki cucumber body lotion, which smells and feels amazing. I went on a Wednesday, so my experience was on a women's day, when bathing suits are optional. You'll be provided with a robe, towels, and locker and safe keys when you check in, and sandals are available by the locker room. The entire space is relaxing, quiet, and dimly lit, and subtly scented with aromatherapy diffusers. Naturally flavored waters, ice, hot tea, and fresh towels are easily available throughout. The showers, baths, steam room, and sauna are spacious and very clean. You can give yourself a salt scrub in the steam room, which also has a shower to rinse off the salt. In the vanity area, you'll find combs and hair ties, cleansers, lotions, and mouthwash. I recommend reading the How to Bathe page on the website before coming for the first time (https://kabukisprings.com/communal-baths-how-to-bathe). As for spa services, I had planned to have a botanical peel, but ended up getting a revitalizing lift at Norma's recommendation. I'm glad I followed her advice. The enzymatic treatment tingled but left me glowing rather than red, the extractions were both firm and gentle, and several hours later my face, neck, and lips still feel super hydrated. If you're planning on the botanical peel, it's wise to skip the communal baths since the heat will make your skin extra sensitive. Norma recommended that I consider a gentler facial since I had spent a good portion of the previous hour heating myself up in the bath, steam room, and sauna. Also, keep in mind that glycolic acid may irritate rosacea. If you park in the Japan Center garage, head towards the west side, not the Kabuki Hotel side. The spa entrance is on Geary, past the Kinokuniya building, behind the Kabuki theater. Because I had a facial, my parking was validated. It cost a total of $5 on a Wednesday afternoon around 2 - 4:30pm.

Yelp
We went me and my friend in a weekend and we were looking forward to it. I was shocked to be informed that the whole spa is used for women that day even men section. How can they mix men and women spaces? I don't get it. As a man I don't want ti share spa with women or share a space that have been used by women for spa. Service was ok they said sorry and offered other messages services. Quality wise 1 star
google avatar

Yelp
This place is great! We came here on the co-ed day which was a Tuesday. This place is super clean and the staff are all warm and attentive. The only thing I suggest is to have a bigger locker room space (women's at least) is it was slightly crowded and maybe using partitions instead of curtains can provide more privacy. Having a chair and more mirrors in there would be great also. Other than, the saunas were great.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a 50 minute Swedish massage by Laura today at Kabuki and it was amazing. She was very communicative with pressure and technique to ensure I had a great experience and my problem areas were worked on exactly as I expected. I'll be scheduling another massage soon and would love to try the baths as well. Highly recommend this spa.

Yelp
It's actually wild that it took me this long to go to a Japanese style bathhouse in San Francisco. I've been to a large amount of these types of spas in Japan, Korea, Belgium and even domestically in New York and SoCal. Kabuki is more of a low-key kind of spa with just the right amount of baths to accommodate a relaxing couple of hours. These include warm and cold baths, dry and steamy saunas, as well as traditional and conventional shower areas. Even better is that genders are separated for specific days, which means you can go naked if you want (which is the highly recommended option). Cold water and tea is readily available inside the spa as well as other amenities like rubbing salt and iced towels. You don't even have to bring dry towels as they'll supplement with both the large and the small traditional ones. I do understand the need to have a reservation system since the spa area cannot fit a lot of people, so make sure to reserve at least a couple days in advance. However, for $45, the price is more than I thought it should be especially since there's a time limit and the ratio of baths to price. Overall, I think this is a great place to relax every few months. The staff are efficient and friendly while the spa is clean, relaxing, and refreshing.

Yelp
I decided to treat myself to my first-ever facial at Kabuki Springs & Spa. My experience was extraordinary due to Becca, who attended to me. Becca warmly welcomed me, made me feel comfortable, and gave me an overview of the scheduled service. She then proceeded with the Essential Facial, which was heavenly. I will definitely return later in the year. Meanwhile, I highly recommend an appointment with Becca.

Yelp
Amazing! I loved it so much! I had a really good time and it was nice to get pampered and treated for once

Yelp
Wonderful spa in the middle of Japantown in San Francisco. They feature a dry sauna, steam room, cold plunge and warm bath in a Japanese onsen like setting. Peaceful quiet is enforced and offers a relaxing atmosphere Check their website for specific days and reservations. Would be a good idea to book a service/spa day a few weeks ahead of time. Tuesdays are all gender/ swimsuit obligatory days. All others are single gender days with clothing optional. Lockers are provided with key as are warm tea, towels, robes and slippers. Street parking all around with an additional discount validated parking in the Japantown center. Great place to unwind and move to get some food in the area or move to other activities

Yelp
This place is just a place for tourists - the interior design is good with private rooms dedicated to individual patrons - I can see the heart in decorating the place, and that's it. The massage was bad - I understand the masseurs didn't want to give them all so as to avoid injury or burnout, but it makes me angry to not getting a real massage and have my sore and pain relieved. The masseur's fingernails poked me couple times. I was so looking forward to trying this place out but just ended up getting bad massage. I also can't imagine they would use their oily hand to rub the massage oil onto my hair and face. I have been to various different spa houses in San Francisco, or California, or United States, and Thailand, and some other Asian countries - Kabuki is at best a ripped-off and overrated place in Japantown. Don't waste your money and time going there.

Jacina L.

Yelp
I had a great time and experience at Kabuki. I'll start with the CBD massage (highly recommend). I saw Patricia who was welcoming, caring, thoughtful, and did some light check ins during to make sure that I was comfortable. The amenities - steam room, sauna, hot pool, and cold plunge were amazing. Kabuki makes sure that you have everything you'll need. You can truly go there and relax, turn off your mind, meditate, and connect with yourself. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
This was my first time going to Kabuki although it has been in the city for forever. I went with my husband to get massages and had to forego the baths because it wasn't co-ed that night. I guess I've been spoiled by other spas that have a larger changing room and amenities. If you just schedule a massage, you wait in the hallway until the masseuse calls you. No other frills besides free tea. I did shiatsu. The masseuse had good pressure but I should have went for longer than 50 minutes. I also forgot that shiatsu is over the sheet so no massage oils. I'll give the baths a try before making a final review.

Yelp
From beginning to the end, my experience at Kabuki was stellar. It started with the greeting from the receptionist. Outstanding! I felt welcomed and even loved. Lol. Then my massage therapist was a professional. Very gentle and precise. Applied the art of healing hands perfectly. And then the 4 hours of pool and steam room time was pure bliss. If you are in San Francisco for any reason, do yourself a favor and run to Kabuki Springs for a day of sheer relaxation!

Yelp
Wow I have been to spas in Hungary, Turkish baths and hot springs and this was the most relaxing experience. Everything was sparkling clean and the atmosphere was so peaceful with quiet spa music. They thought of everything to make guests comfortable including an assortment of bath products and waters/ tea. Highly recommend

Yelp
Spa is great... sauna, steam, hot and cold plunge. Not overly crowded. Never had massage or other service so can't comment on that.

Yelp
Relaxing and rejuvenating! We spent nearly 4 hours here on a Wednesday afternoon just enjoying the hot tub, steam rooms, and massages. It was an only women's day when we were there. Everyone was very quiet and respectful in general. If you're not quiet enough, they hit this mini gong that reminds you to be still and hush up. Staff was attentive and constantly made sure we didn't run out of amenities such as towels, water, tea, and salt. Clothing was optional - some people went full birthday suit and some wore a swim suit. We parked at the Japan Center and got some discount for parking when we told the front desk.

Yelp
I went back for a body treatment/massage this time. They were kind enough to give me a gift certificate because of my previous experience so I booked the Javanese Extended Lulur Body Treatment (paid the difference to have it be longer). Art provided my service and I was truly blown away. I thought because this was a body treatment the massage would be mild but that was the best massage I've ever received. Art explained to me the process before we started which I appreciated. This is a small thing, but he asked during if the pressure was good or if I wanted it deeper/softer. I like that I can just say deeper please quickly and stay in the moment. The whole experience was one of the most relaxing services I've ever gotten and I truly felt pampered. I would do it again in a heart beat, great value this time. Very glad I got to try it again.

Yelp
I had an exceptional experience with their administrative department recently that I think reflects very well on the spa itself. While I will refrain from the details, they were prompt and unusually kind in their dealings with me.

Yelp
Such a special place. So beautiful inside it's crazy. Incredibly calming and relaxing, lots of places to recline and sit. The baths and steam rooms are incredibly clean and beautiful. They give you salt to exfoliate with as well as lotions and shampoos. I felt so clean and pampered after. I went on the women's day and it was really comfortable. Everyone is really respectful. I love the showers you use in the beginning with the seats and bowls, it feels so luxurious.

Yelp
do not come here . unless you are looking for a ridiculously coldddd sauna and a steam room that never fills up with steam. what a joke . such a nice venue inside . what a waste. please make the sauna hotter . like way hotter . i never leave reviews but had to here, it was so bad, everyone was complaining about it

Yelp
DO NOT choose the private bath, it's $50 above and what you get is someone pours 2 bowls of water on you and uses a towel wash your arms for 2 minutes then you sit in the bathtub wash yourself, totally different than years ago when real Japanese ladies did it !

Yelp
Love it here. Review is overdue, but I came here during memorial weekend. I needed some time away and decided to look up a spa place so I can relax. I'd enjoy it. The ambient and tranquility I got was phenomenal. I definitely look forward coming again one of the Saturdays.

Yelp
I've been coming to Kabuki for 15 years almost, it is always a delight. Clean, calm, quiet. I came yesterday for the first time since the pandemic and I was really impressed, it felt respectful of the times, they sent an email with the reservation basically asking customers to be respectful and not come if they're sick - this was an appreciated message. The massage was great and the bath spaces felt great. Seems like even more frequent cleaning is happening. I love Kabuki and will keep coming back, it's so reasonably priced, great location and awesome vibe!

Yelp
From the moment I checked in till I departed, the experience was awesome. Treated myself to an 80 minute deep tissue Arnica massage and Maxine was amazing: Attentive, Compassionate & Talented. Kudos to Management for creating this beautiful venue with great Staff. I'll be back

Yelp
Went to Kabuki Spa today after receiving a gift certificate for my birthday over a year ago. :) It was a lovely way to treat myself. I drove in from Berkeley, so I turned it into a day trip to the city. I got a massage from Carlos who is AMAZING. I would highly recommend him to anyone--- he is just so good!!! I wish he lived closer to me in East Bay! Then I went to the spa area--- which as people have said has showers, a cold bath and a hot tub, plus a sauna and steam room. I mainly used the hot tub. I knew in advance the days that are women's days--- so I choose a Wednesday. There were a lot of nude women--- I wore a swimsuit bc I am shy that way--- but it was perfectly fine and everyone was very chill and respectful. It's a very relaxing, peaceful environment, and I definitely recommend it and would go back. I personally found the staff to be nice and helpful--- nothing over the top, but not rude as some have said. My only criticism is I have chemical sensitivity and I don't like those scented oil diffusers they have everywhere. Totally unnecessary and not great if you are sensitive to smells, as many people are.

Yelp
My favorite bath house in the city! It is always consistently clean and I especially like the serene environment. They ask people to whisper and not be too loud, and I appreciate the ambience created by this rule.

Yelp
Is there any place in the US quite like Kabuki? I have used the communal baths, and after an hour or two of washing, soaking, sweating, steaming, repeating it all, and resting too, I walk out of there feeling like I've had a week vacation. I'm slowly exploring their spa services as well. I've had excellent massages and facials there. But you don't have to utilize a spa services to enjoy the communal baths. Some people may be wondering why they have no talking at the baths. (because in Japan, it's a very social place to talk to strangers and have a nice conversation). I have a very social job, where I'm interacting with people often. I really enjoy going somewhere where I can just disconnect, and be silent for an hour or two. I love this place, and look forward to visiting again soon.

Yelp
Wow it was excellent and relaxation at the same time. Do note that you need to book a reservation or call in advance that your coming. The spa itself is great. I just enjoyed a day spa didn't try any of their services as I was looking for a relaxation only ritual to just me experience. Very professional and clean here which is my priority. I would def come back again. Thank-You Kabuki Spa!
