Kabuto Review - Chinatown - Las Vegas - The Infatuation

"When you want to have a very small group dinner, or the chance for a one-on-one with someone you usually see as a small avatar on your computer, go to Kabuto. Located in Chinatown, this sushi spot has three omakase options, the least expensive of which is $48 and includes a small sake drink, an appetizer, 10 pieces of nigiri, a handroll, and dessert, and is always enough food to fill us up. You’ll be able to hold a full conversation in the quiet, small space, though odds are you’re going to get distracted every time a piece of sushi is placed in front of you." - Milena DiFiore

Impressed by our first visit here! Jalapeño Poppers were perfectly fried and really good. We loved the Linda roll and Black Rock. Tropical Mango was good but I can imagine it's better when the mango is ripe and can add more balance to the Cajun and lime. Pricing was as expected, avg $19 per roll, though the appetizers were more expensive than I expected.

Google
Really loved the food here. We got spicy garlic edamame for starters and it was very tasty! For main course, we got the Jammy Special Roll, Mango Tango Roll and fried rice. For dessert, we got the mango and matcha mochi ice cream. Though everything was delicious, my favorite was the mochi ice cream.

Google
What an absolutely wonderful experience…namely the amazing waitress…Kellie…She helped make our first time visiting this restaurant an eventful one. We will definitely be back again. We recommend especially for their broad choices on the menu. Lots of variety as well as a kiddos section. Clean, inviting, and aesthetically appealing.

Google
The food was incredible! Chef Ricardo did an amazing job. The sushi was made with such creativity, it truly felt like watching an artist at work. It was fresh, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Such a great experience overall. Definitely recommending this place, 10/10!

Skyler A.

Google
Great place and our server June was exceptionally nice and helpful. Not her fault but it took probably 40 minutes to get our food. Sushi wasn't our favorite. The extraordinary rolls were too much fit us. Too many flavors going on. I'd just do the simple rolls next time. More on the expensive side for rolls that weren't anything mind blowing. Especially since the fish portions were small.

Google
St George isn’t the world’s greatest sushi spot, but Kabuto is solid. The rolls here are creative and full of flavor—definitely not your average sushi menu. I ordered the Linda roll (my favorite), the Monica (a close second), and the Citrus Mistressl. The Citrus Mistress was good, just not quite on the same level as the other two for me. For a few of the rolls, including the Linda, it comes with a side of their Screaming O sauce. It’s this creamy, spicy ponzu-style sauce that i’ve never had another sushi restaurant. It’s so good... If you’re a fan of bold flavors and inventive sushi, Kabuto is definitely worth a visit.

Google
My husband and I had lunch at Kabuto a couple of days ago. The atmosphere was pleasant—spacious with plenty of seating. We started with jalapeño poppers and chicken yakisoba, both of which were good. The yakisoba was probably my favorite part of the meal. We also tried the salmon crudo, the Linda roll, and another roll I couldn’t find on the online menu. The sushi was just okay. The Linda roll had too many competing flavors and was messy to eat. The salmon crudo was underwhelming—topped with a pile of radish or some kind of vegetable that soaked up all the sauce, making it awkward to eat with the fish. Service was lacking. Our server was mostly absent, and other staff ended up delivering our food and checking on us. Overall, lunch was decent but not memorable. We likely wouldn’t return.

Google
Milo made my experience top notch. Although I have been coming here since the doors opened- today Milo brought me fresh wasabi- which I have not had since I was in Japan! Very delighted with the sushi as always, but very impressed with Milo’s service, ambiance, and will to please! Milo gets an 11/10 and he deserves a raise! Completely a stellar server!

Yelp
My friends and I love coming to this establishment and most of the time the service is great! There have been times we had a male server and he implied we were fat. After we finished eating he said, "Wow, that was fast! Not surprised though. I've seen you here a lot." Loud for others to here. And another time told my friend " Someone was hungry. Cleaned the plate out." Food is great though.

Yelp
Super friendly and cute servers, modern decor, but food was off. I can say for sure the owner is not Japanese or someone who's been trained properly. For appetizers we had gyoza and takoyaki balls. The gyoza came out steamed.... Which is not how gyozas should be cooked. Gyoza is always CRISPY and PANFRIED. If you steamed it, it's called dumplings. The takoyaki balls were also off. The batter was soggy and the octopus inside was teeny tiny. We ordered 6 rolls: the regal, vegetarian, black rock, The Monica, Vegas, and the salmon roll. The fish was fresh but the rice was wrong. They used some sort of sticky rice for the rolls instead of sushi rice. I've never felt so weird eating sushi. The vegetarian roll was spicy which was not mentioned on the menu. They also didn't provide wasabi and soy sauce until we asked for it. For mains we also had shoyu ramen and Korean BBQ short ribs. The Korean short ribs were good, but the bones were way more than the actual meat. The amount of bones should match the amount of meat. I wish this place was better, but using the wrong rice for a sushi place is just bad.

Yelp
We had the Tonkatsu Pork Ramen, Miso Pork, a couple of sushi and we love our food. We are from OC so we know good Japanese ramen. Service was great from a young lady with long hair. We will definitely return on our next visit.

Yelp
Heard good things about this location so stopped in for dinner. The host was not friendly and did not greet us, we were eventually sat at a booth and ordered the seared ahi and some drinks, the food was excellent but after placing our order, our server Kelly was not available. We had to get up several times to ask other servers for our items/refills which took away from the dining experience. We would go back for the food and hope for a better server experience.

Yelp
I've been coming to this sushi restaurant for about two years, and unfortunately, it's gone downhill. The new owners seem fine, but the staff is constantly changing, and every time I go, the rolls are made differently. This visit was the most disappointing so far the portions felt smaller, and for the first time, I actually left hungry. The recent interior revamp feels both light and dark at the same time, but not in a good way. The food itself was just okay nothing special, and I didn't leave feeling excited like I used to. Which is so disappointing, because it used to be my favorite sushi place. Bottom line: it's just not the same restaurant anymore.

Yelp
Best sushi place in town. The decorations were good. Service was great. The food was amazing. There were a few sushi rolls we tried and all of them were flavorful. Perfect combination of flavors and texture. Presentation was spot-on. Highly recommend this place. My only complaint is the check was brought out before our dessert was done. Minor but something they should work on.

Claire H.

Yelp
****Went back in to give it another try and I'm so happy they changed it back to the original ramen. Best in the St. George area. Hands down. Changing my rating to 5 stars!***** So sad that the ramen changed once Slurpin Ramen combined with Kabuto. We have been regular customers of Slurpin and were hoping it wouldn't change with the move. Unfortunately, the noodles and possibly the broth are different. Someone in the kitchen, please change it back! It was perfect before!

Yelp
Service was excellent! Was very attentive to our table. The basil Ramon was out of this world. Wow. The sushi and sashimi were very fresh. We brought our family and had a great time.

Yelp
The food was delicious!!! Our server Jerry was amazing!!! The restaurant was very clean and nice!!! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
This place SUCK. Sakura is still the best sushi place in town. Sushi is just mediocre. Quality is trash. Sushi here is buffet grade, nothing special.

Yelp
I tried it out here over the weekend after having it bookmarked for months and Im glad I finally did. We were greeted and seated right away on Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is larger than it looks from the outside. It was clean and the service was quick. We ordered the soft shell crab appetizer, and three sushi rolls. Everything hit the spot and we were so relieved to have found a Sushi place here that checks off all the boxes. Score! The manager was very kind and accomodated my girls wants with a custom bento box. My husband and I also enjoyed a glass of Plum wine. My girls ate the strawberry crepe cake and wouldnt even let my husband and I get one bite. Ill be ordering one for myself next time.

Yelp
This place was great and the food was amazing! Shout out to Kellie for being a great hostess!

Yelp
This place is fantastic, clean, great sushi, great server. Kellie is fantastic always made sure we were taken care of.

Yelp
The sushi was not my favorite. I did not enjoy how saturated both our rolls were but the flavor was good. We had Kiss of Fire and the Jackpot. They were just wet eating them. But perhaps that is appealing to some. The staff and our waiter were great. We ate quickly and our food was fresh. The restaurant was nice and clean but having TVs on the walls kills the vibes.

Manuel W.

Yelp
Great!--if you're fine with being surprised by the chef. Our vegetable roll contained some jalapeño, which was not in the menu description. Also, the menu is not entirely reliable when out comes to the fish icon that means it contains raw ingredients, We found this to be the case with the carpaccio (make sure you know what items are before ordering).

Jill J.

Yelp
I called & ordered the 2 rolls over the phone. The current menu online showed each roll $13.95. So I'm thinking $27-28. She quoted me $38. I told her online the price, I was told they revamped the prices. I would have thought they would have honored the price that was online & then make sure to update the menu online. I would have gave 1 star because if that. The 2 rolls were delicious, very similar in taste.

Yelp
Milo was a great server. He made some great suggestions on food and was super kind. The food was very good. Definitely get the jalapeño poppers! We liked all the sushi rolls we got as well. We will definitely come back!

Yelp
Wow! What a meal, what a place! The lights, the music, the live sushi preparation, and of course, the quail egg mussel shooters were absolutely above par of any other quail egg shooter on the market. Now, onto the sashimi salad, the fish was of exemplary quality, but the bed of lettuce it lay upon was lacking something, though I'm not sure what. The sushi reaches out, entraps the gaze, then lingers pleasantly on the tongue. We also had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Miss Vannie. She was attentive and devoted to meeting our needs. THANK YOU, VANNIE! GOD BLESS!! On the pricier side.

Yelp
Came here with older kids (18 and 16) and were seated within 5-7 minutes. Nice restaurant vibe inside. Menu a little overwhelming for me to be honest as a "light duty" sushi connoisseur. After a while hard to really know the differences in what we were ordering so just picked one which was good but since it was baked came out 10 min later than all other orders. Seems like they bring out orders as they are prepared which is fine of course but depending on what everyone orders one person could be waiting 10-15 more than everyone else. Service was prompt if not too prompt actually. Waitress came to take our order within 3 min of sitting down and we were not ready. Overall good food, fast service. I would really like a picture menu to be frank. Just one at the table would be amazing.

Yelp
Love this place, great for a lunch date! Love the sushi and the kitchen lunch. Favorites are the Linda, and No Pain No Gain. Please bring back the ginger salad dressing !

Yelp
Super efficient and friendly staff serving some delicious sushi. They both 'extreme' snd more traditional options.

Paula B.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance and service! Never disappointed...! Love the new remodel! Staff is always so personable!

Yelp
Services was slow, seat us for 20 minutes without serving water. Just because our service person section was busy so no one wants to come by our table at all.
google avatar

Cole T.

Yelp
The sushi is pretty good here but the overall experience is disappointing. The staff was friendly but lacks concept and direction. The hostess who was also our waitress didn't really understand how to seat people in the restaurant. Seating people at the first table as you walk in, barely in the seating area, when there are numerous empty booths and tables is a poor decision. I think this was just a lack of understanding on her part and a lack of direction by management. There's an of operations, drinks first, my beer was forgotten, salads next, they came last. Before sushi arrives the plates, chopsticks, wasabi and ginger should be there before the sushi this came after the sushi arrived. When it came time to pay it got even more awkward. The waitress presented us not with a bill but just a verbal total. When I requested a bill I received a device with our bill on it that we could use to check out with our card, while she waited. We were paying cash though...leave the bill, come back to collect in a few minutes or when you see the card or cash on the table ready to be checked out. The waitress was very nice, but really green and needs some good direction. Possibly this new check out method is how things are now handled at Kabuto...don't, we won't come back if this is the case. To wrap this up, Kabuto is fortunate to have a friendly staff that wants to do well but just needs better direction.

Kenzie N.

Yelp
Jaime was super awesome. He genuinely cared about getting to know us while giving great service. He has quite the sense of humor! We had never been here, and he was quick to help us understand the menu as well as giving us recommendations.

Yelp
We came at last day of 2023 since my daughter lives here and likes this place, the service was courteous. We ordered a bottle of plum wine, a sashimi salad, 4 kinds of extra ordinary sushi and a unagi donburi. The sushi is all good and fresh, we specifically liked the house special: Kabuto Special.
google avatar

KingnQueen A.

Yelp
Delicious rolls. Service was excellent. I wish I remembered the name of our waiter. We were there 3/14/25 at 8 pm to celebrate my son's birthday. We had a party of 7 plus a baby. We will definitely come back. This is my son's favorite sushi restaurant. It was our first time trying it since we were visiting from Los Angeles.

Gabriella S.

Yelp
Delicious food! Great service! Zane is awesome Totally recommend if you are craving sushi! Great little busy shopping center

Yelp
Food was great! Sushi was fresh. Very Happy. Do wish they had a good Hot Sour soup that would have been nice.

Yelp
Who would have thought St. George had sushi? I live part time in Austin, Texas and have struggled to find a place that sells good sushi. Even with a plethora of food options. Kabuto has creative but also classic sushi that is amazing. If you enjoy fried rice, I recommend trying it here. It is open on Sundays, which is nice as well. We will be back.
google avatar

Kera T.

Yelp
The sushi was better than Sakura!! Can't believe I'm saying that. Great ambiance. Nice staff. Quick service. So good we will be back.
google avatar

Karen E.

Yelp
Stopped in on our way through St. George. We had the shrimp killa and the yellowfin tuna ( I can't remember the name) both were delicious. We didn't eat inside but it looked clean and their bathrooms were spotless! What I really want to talk about is the lady at the front register who took our order. I had tried to call it in, but the cell service was terrible, so I hung up. When I got there and she realized it was me she apologized, and was genuine about it even though none of it was in her control. She was so kind and helpful and made sure our order was correct because we were eating on the road. It has been awhile since we have experienced that level of energy and kindness in the food industry. Don't have her name because it wasn't correct in the receipt, but she had 2 ponytail's and was amazing! Thank you for having an environment where your staff are happy and engaging!
google avatar

Heidi S.

Yelp
To sum it up, all I can say is WOW! We're from Las Vegas where we go to sushi restaurants all the time. When we come to St George to visit family we usually go to Sakura. This time we switched it up and went to Kabuto. Got seated right away! June (our server) was so nice and attentive. She was always smiling. But man is there sushi DELICIOUS!!! We absolutely loved our experience here.
google avatar

Kimberlee P.

Yelp
Amazing sushi and service, always seated very quickly and well taken care of! Must try the Linda, citrus mistress and pearl

Dondillon R.

Yelp
Got the love me tender, I can confirm It was loved tenderly. Would highly recommend checking out kabuto sushi.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
Great sushi! Very diverse menu with a lot of options. They had a ton of rolls. We especially enjoyed the Linda roll. It was very flavorful and loved all the varieties of fresh fish on it. The heart attack was fresh, hot, and had the perfect amount of spice. The dragon roll was absolutely delicious as well. The eel was great quality and the sauce on top was a great addition. The holy cow was good too but we probably wouldn't order that one again. Didn't really have the "wow factor" like the others as far as flavor. Great presentation of the sushi rolls. Will definitely be back while in the area!
google avatar

Bekka A.

Yelp
Great menu, with lots of choices. Prices are a bit on the higher side. Friendly service. Reservation recommended.
google avatar

Jerel L.

Yelp
This is, in my opinion, the best sushi place in St George for a few reasons: 1. The rolls are excellent! We have been here several times now and tried different rolls each time. Every roll has been delicious and beautifully prepared. The ones with their "special sauce" are our favorites! 2. They are fast! At some of the other sushi places in town you wait 20+ minutes for your rolls. We went today and got three beautiful rolls in under 10 minutes. 3. They are well priced. Sushi is always a little expensive but for the size and quality of the rolls I don't think you can beat Kabuto. We love this place and we'll be back again!

Mark P.

Yelp
Food was just -C Ramen tasted good. But THEY just put a hard boiled egg in it. I never seen anything like that before. It wasn't picked or cured- just a hard boiled egg. I'm not sure if restaurant thinks that guests don't care, well we do. Ordered one roll, costed me almost 20$ dollars, was extremely greasy, felt like it was fried twice? The size of individual pieces was extremely small and disappointing. Closest thing that comes to mind is Sushi from smith.. very disappointing, on the bright side overall pleasant experience trying their soft shell crab. As an appetizer solid menu item. Good location and pleasant atmosphere inside the restaurant, just food is not tasty. The total cost was 61$. (Ramen, roll, one soft shell crab) Shame
google avatar

Caleb R.

Yelp
Best sushi in St George all the rolls tastes super fresh and the nine fish options were very good too!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place, me and friends come here all the time. The food is always great and the service is good, my only complaint is that the last time we went we were told that we could only have 2 checks. We never had problems with them splitting it 4 ways before. I'm not sure if it was just a one off thing but it's my only problem.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
The server got my order wrong. She also didn't know what was the special that was posted on the chalkboard at the front. She brought out my Udon noodle soup but brought me the wrong tempura items. I wanted shrimp and by the time they brought me the correct tempura, my soup had cooled to lewkwarm. The hamachi sushi and albacore special and spider roll was.... disappointing!!! Sashimi was not chilled. They also didn't put a pinch of wasabi between the rice and the hamachi nigiri. Even an inexperienced sushi chef would know to do that. No greetings when I came into the restaurant and no thank you as I left which is astonishing as it is the customary Japanese standard practice of welcoming. The sushi chefs didn't even bother to look up to say goodbye or thank me as I left. This place is a joke. I will definitely not go back.

Donna M.

Yelp
Great food, great experience, and great service with our server Jaime! Our server was really fun and engaging and served our group of 7 so well!! Was very accommodating and helpful around allergies as well!

Yelp
Driving through St. George after touring some national parks and saw this well-rated sushi spot open for lunch so, decided to stop by. Overall, it was fairly average - nothing special but not awful. Fairly in line with your mid-grade sushi spots with loads upon loads of fusion roll selections - it seems like a Utah slash Vegas thing. Ambiance - The interior is black, modern chic and clean. Excellent vibes for sure. Service - The service was good. Friendly. Seated and served promptly. Food - Garden Salad - Just iceberg and standard Japanese ginger dressing. The water from washing the iceberg drips to the bottom and makes it soupy. Would recommend adding carrots or something other than iceberg. It felt lazy and basic. That said, it was only $3.95 so can't complain. Ring of Fire Roll - This was spicy as advertised and loaded with imitation crab. They do cut their shrimp for the tempura shrimp into half or maybe even fourths so you get less of the shrimp punch. TNT Roll - You can tell that the rice isn't seasoned or, if it is, it's def not done well. The spicy tuna tastes like tuna with too much sriracha and nothing else. Again, very, very tiny portion of shrimp tempura. At this price, you should get more shrimp. Mussels - Just okay. Frozen for sure, not fresh. In sum, this may be good for Utah, surrounding areas, but it's really average and could be better without cutting corners. Don't get me wrong, it's worth going to bc there aren't many options it seems.

Caleb R.

Yelp
I come here every month with my girlfriend, very much recommended. Really really good ramen and has the Best sushi ever

Cliff R.

Yelp
Not sure why this place has gone downhill in the last year. Went in for dinner. Place was dirty & service was extremely slow. Food had an aftertaste of ammonia which we should have sent back. After eating my wife & i both were sick. I definitely will not chance eating here again. Health department needs to pay them a visit.

Yelp
One of few sushi restaurants open on Sunday in St. George, Kabuto is surprisingly great sushi. Many of their rolls are inventive, but delicious. We tried a pretty diverse grouping of the Jimmy Special, TTL, and Don't Tell Mama rolls, along with salmon nigiri. For all of this and a couple of sodas, I think our bill was around $70, which seemed reasonable for a ton of food. The Jimmy Special was fantastic if you like a lot going on in your rolls. It was a little intense, but I would definitely order it again. The TTL was our favorite for sure, though I did have them add rice to it instead of just the soy paper. I think it was needed, but I'm sure it's good without it as well. The Don't Tell Mama roll is fascinating and honestly we never did decide if we actually liked it or not. The texture was alright for the most part but some bites were different than others. The sesame mustard sauce on top was a little intense for my liking. I think it would have been better on the side so you could control the amount yourself. The salmon nigiri tasted great and super fresh, though a little sloppily cut. My main reason for a 4 star rating here is mostly due to the overall strange setup of the restaurant. In the middle, they have what clearly used to be a hibachi grill space with seating all around it. They've taken the grill out and filled it with a few plants. It just seemed like a bit of a weird setup, and I wouldn't have wanted to sit there. They also have a few tables divided by walls, like they clearly should have been booths. The entryway is wide open, so when you walk in, there isn't a host stand or really anywhere to stand in any kind of order. We ended up getting cut by someone that arrived after us despite him trying to tell staff we were there first, just because of this. If it had been a larger party or a busier day, this would have been very frustrating.

Scott H.

Yelp
Wildly overpriced. Staff was friendly, place is clean but the quality and portion size of the rolls are not worth the 20$ most of them cost.

Yelp
My son and I came here for a lunch date and wanted to love this place SO BAD. We got the escolar nigiri - usually super buttery, was slimy and very fishy; the jimmy roll - was decent; and the Monica - so many good reviews but legit tasted like it had barbecue sauce on it. We both came home with horrible food poisoning. There are 5 of us at home and only the 2 of us were sick. Will not be back here again.
