"A remote beachside eatery with a relaxed atmosphere, an open kitchen and a superb sea panorama; this is best enjoyed from the terrace, although all tables have a view. Tasting menus showcase the finest island produce and the accomplished, original, highly seasonal cooking offers superbly balanced, contrasting flavours." - Michelin Inspector

Visit These Nordic Islands for Summer Seafood

"A Michelin-starred destination led by chef Nicolai Nørregaard that feels both highly refined and wonderfully relaxed. Founded by locals who stumbled into hospitality, the kitchen leans heavily on foraged island ingredients and produce from the restaurant’s own farm—think citrusy young pine shoots, pickled nautilus pine cones, beach rose petals, tart currants—alongside dishes of elderflower with crab, scallop and caviar, and a signature smoked-salmon course finished with lavender butter and shallots. The experience balances precision and casualness in uncommon ways (guests are even encouraged to stroll the beach with their wine as staff set the table for dessert, and a post-dinner swim is genuinely acceptable), making it a destination-worthy highlight of the island and one of Denmark’s standout dining rooms." - Hillary Eaton

There’s More to Nordic Food Than René Redzepi Restaurant Noma | Eater

"Started on the remote Danish island of Bornholm and later expanded to Copenhagen, this restaurant pushed radical New Nordic flavors—think kohlrabi, black currant, Nobilis fir, wood ants on scallops, and asparagus with pickled pine leaves—initially baffling some locals but ultimately a source of national pride. The Copenhagen outpost earned two Michelin stars and draws a largely international clientele (around 80% non-Danish), benefiting from strong media attention and investor interest." - Eeva Väänänen Moore

3 Best Day Trips From Copenhagen

"Located on the southern tip of Bornholm, overlooking the pristine beach, Kadeau is probably the island's most notable restaurant. People come from all over Denmark to try chef Nicolai Nørregaard's inventive new Nordic tasting menu. Eating at Kadeau isn't just any old meal. The dining experience begins outside (on couches, overlooking the ocean) while the sun is still high and ends in the wee hours of the morning. The food is a celebration of hyper-local ingredients, so expect fresh and creative dishes featuring familiar and unfamiliar notes. The diners here are serious about their food. You don't just swing by Kadeau for a casual weeknight meal, you book weeks in advance." - Mary Holland

Humiliated for your own money - this is a short summary of visit to so much praised restaurant. We visited this place back in 2021 and now in 2025 I’m still traumatized from the experience. Both me and my husband had hair in one of the dishes, I do not know how is it even possible, but it unfortunately happened. Chef of the restaurant (his photo attached) not only did not come to us to comment something about the hair but scolded the waiter who served the dishes quite harsh in our plain sight. I was astonished how mean he is to his own staff, who I heard are working for free being trainees and taking it as an honor to get experience from such a “respectable” restaurant. For me, it’s just bad, bad culture, wrong values and pure abuse. I just delivered my baby less than a year ago, so I was trying to get back in shape and count calories and out of curiosity I asked how many calories was in the set menu that we ordered. Waiter said that he doesn’t know, but he would ask the chef. Later waiter came back and said: “Chef told me to pass it on to you, it’s not my words, but this is what chef told me to tell you. Our food has half of the Mc Donald’s meal calories” This left me speechless, was the chef also insulting us for asking about his food? Waiter nevertheless apologized and said that they should know the amount of calories, but they do not know it unfortunately. I mean if that’s the case, couldn’t the chef just say so instead of trying to insult and humiliate the guests? This reaction from chef was very telling - guy is full of internal issues and unable to handle his emotions so that he just spits his frustration with aggression towards both staff members and customers. Very sad experience. Totally do not recommend. Even the food is not worth it.

A lovely experience in a relaxed atmosphere. The dishes were creative and tasty, and in line with our request for pescatarian food. Some that stood out in particular were the oyster, the smoked salmon, the raw shrimps and the mussel skewer. Beautiful presentation and great service. It’s certainly pricey, but it was worth it!

for the 2nd time here, again an absolutely amazing experience in a very laid-back beach atmosphere and a unique, stunning location you cannot find anywhere else in the world, hosted by a wonderful and lovely team. Every dish was so delicious and impressive, I will remember this experience and the outstanding and Bornholm-specific dishes and flavours for years to come. Thank you <3

Visiting in September (off season) with my wife and friends - we have been lucky to dine at most of Denmarks Michelin restaurants so expectations were high 🥂 Location is amazing - 20 meters from the sea, big windows allowing you to enjoy the sunset while enjoying Bornholms best seafood ❤️ As we were visiting early September we were only 8 guests and the service was very good even though it felt a bit automated at times. The food is really good and we hope to be back in the near future 🥂☀️

Kadeau is one of those places you just have to experience. The location and the views are epic. The people are super friendly and welcoming. The food is creative, locally sourced and tastes amazing. And the atmosphere is second to none. It's like eating at a friend's summerhouse on the beach. If that friend was an amazing chef. And had a winecellar that he never really got to the bottom of. Cannot recommend Kadeau enough

An amazing experience - we took the large menu and started on the terrace with champagne. Amazing food and great service. Lovely atmosphere and it's very down to earth. Would definitely go again. A bit too expensive. We were full from the meal (we are two girls), but would worry that hungry men would not.

Had the absolute best meal of my life here on my trip to Bornholm. In addition to all 17 courses of the food being insanely delicious and beautifully plated, the service, energy, and sunset views were incredible as well. Definitely recommend grabbing a seat on the porch close to the sea, and they have blankets for when it gets chillier. If you’re visiting Bornholm, it’s a must-do for dinner. Can’t wait to visit again.

One of the best dining experiences we have had, and probably the best service we have experienced. The way every person serving us throughout a long evening somehow knew of every small adjustment their predecessors had made to our wine menu etc was downright impressive.
